Chapter 29 - Crista

I was so angry at his parents. How could they treat him that way? And they hid it all from the pack. No one knew what kind of monsters they were. I know they are dead, and based on the stories, it was a brutal death at Alec’s hands.

I used to be appalled at the tales of the Mad Alpha who killed his own parents. Knowing what they did to him, I’m not.

They got exactly what they deserved, and I can only hope they are in eternal punishment from the Goddess for their treatment of Alec.

‘We should destroy this dungeon. I can’t believe Alec’s not taken a sledgehammer to this place. Maybe set it on fire. Or just something. Anything to make this place disappear.’ Emilia snorted. She was just as angry on our mate’s behalf as I am.

His father can rot in hell. How dare he treat Alec that way. How dare he beat him. How dare he call him weak and say he’d never be an Alpha. Alec is not weak. If he was weak, he’d not have survived.

And how dare he

Fuck, that was hot. I can still taste Crista on my tongue as I lead the way back to the third floor. ‘I don’t know why we stopped. She was willing. She wanted more. We could have at least gotten a blow job.’ Chesed grumbled. ‘No. Her first time will not be in a place like that, and I won’t have her kneel on that floor.’ I shook my head. Chesed rolled his eyes. “Are we not going back into your office?” Crista asked as we passed the door. “No, we are going home.” I explained, leading her to the elevators. “Um... Alpha.” Veronica tentatively called out as we passed her desk. I turned my head and narrowed my eyes at Veronica. I haven’t forgotten how she disrespected Crista earlier. And right now, she is impeding me from getting my mate home to find some release if luck is on my side. “Yes, Veronica?” I managed to keep the annoyance Chesed felt from seeping into my words. “There was a phone call for you. I took a message as you were not in your office and unreacha

I am on my last nerve with this pack. I thought Veronica being dismissive of me was terrible. But this guy, he takes the cake. Calling me insubordinate. Calling into question how my father raised us. I honestly don’t blame Persephone for going off like that. No one talks shit about our father. And what century does this wolf think we live in talking about a ‘she-wolf’s place’? ‘He’s damn lucky Alec intervened. I’d show him his place.’ Emilia was still growling, pacing in my mind. It was starting to make me dizzy. I’m still angry too. How dare this man talk that way to my sister, to anyone for that matter. It’s insulting. Especially someone who was brought here at the Alpha’s request. ‘Weren’t Alexander and André supposed to bring Persephone here? Where are they?’ Emilia questioned. That’s actually a good question. And now that Alec has gotten the situation between my sister and Gianpaolo settled down, I decided to ask. “Where are Alexander and André?” I

I tried. I tried so damn hard to keep Chesed at bay. I was somewhat astounded that he didn’t come out when I was going down on her. He tried, but I managed to keep him in check. This may be a new record for the longest I have stayed in control that didn’t involve diapers. But he’d had enough for Gianpaolo and Persephone’s childish crap and yanked me back with more force than I could counter him. Now I’m stuck watching things unfold from the backseat of my own mind. I don’t like it. Especially when Chesed is obviously annoying Crista. ‘Will you stop annoying her?’ I sighed. ‘No. She enjoys it.’ Chesed smirked. He just likes getting a rise out of her. And she always takes the bait. I really wish he was more kind to her. I want to remind him of the proverb that you catch more flies with honey than vinegar, but I know it would fall on deaf ears. I can’t blame her for not wanting him to drive. I hate how he drives. Even I get nauseous

  • Alpha of Nightmares   Chapter 33 - Crista

Poor Tiberius. He was the oldest of us ranked heirs, not by much but enough that even though he was the lowest-ranked, he was our ring leader when we were kids. The pied piper as my mom called him. And she almost meant that literally. Not that he played pipes of any kind. He played the trumpet, much to the annoyance of the adults. Thales and I would follow Tiberius all around the pack. He’d be playing his trumpet. Thales would be singing, very off-key, something random. And I would be beating wooden spoons on one of my mother’s stockpots like a drum. Those childhood memories were so precious. And now I’ve lost Thales and might lose Tiberius. I can only hope and pray to the Goddess that Tiberius survives. That the scouting party found him soon enough. Our pack needs him. I obviously can step up to be Alpha. Not without merging Nebrodi with Incubi. And if enough of our pack survived, I doubt they’d want to combine with another pack.

‘Great. Look what you did. And you think I’m bad with our mate.’ Chesed scoffed, edging forward, wanting control as we watched Crista walk away. ‘I did nothing. Crista’s leaving at the knowledge and memory that you’ve fucked your way through many unmated and widowed she-wolves in our pack. And that some might hold a grudge against her simply because she’s our mate.’ I rolled my eyes. “Well, maybe if Jai hadn’t made that comment.’ Chesed growled, turning his annoyance at our housekeeper. ‘Stop it. Jai didn’t do it with ill intention. It’s better that Crista knows to be on guard around people. While many will be happy there will be a Luna, some of your lovers will be angry.’ I sighed. “I’m sorry, Alpha.” Jai bowed her head, baring her neck. “It’s fine, Jai. You didn’t do anything wrong or with ill intentions.” I waved a dismissive hand. “Does… Alpha Chesed, see it that way?” Jai cautiously questioned. I sighed because, of course, she was s

I’d held Delilah while she cried for Thales. She was probably crying for everyone we’ve lost. Those we know about and those we don’t. As I comforted my sister, I let Katrina know Alec wanted her help in the kitchen. She and Zoe slipped out of the room, leaving just Regina with us. The girl looked a little uncomfortable as I held Delilah through her tears. If I could protect her from ever knowing pain, I would. When she finally stopped crying I gave her a little squeeze. “You are too sweet for this cruel world, Delilah.” I sighed into her hair. Delilah sniffled. “I thought I should cry enough for you and Persephone too. I know you are crying to be strong. To be the rock for me and all of our pack that survived.” her voice was barely a whisper. I sighed. “I cry. I’ve cried.” I assured her. I’m not going to tell her, I cried in Alec’s arms. That I’ll keep private. But I cried and I’m sure it won’t be the last time I do. Though it just r

Everyone rushed to finish their meals. I frowned as everyone just started to leave the dining room; dishes just left as they were. “Jai is still here, and she will clear the table and put away any leftovers.” Alec assured me, placing a warm hand on my shoulder. I was raised without a housekeeper, so it was up to my sisters and me to always clean up. “It’s what she’s paid for. You won’t begrudge the woman her paycheck, will you?” Alec arched a brow at me. I sighed because he did make a point. I shouldn’t take work from another. And as if on cue, Jai walked in with a tray cart. “If you’ve all finished with dinner, I’ll just get this cleaned up and head home. Unless you need anything else.” Jai bowed her head in greeting. “Thank you, Jai. That should be all for the day. Please be sure to set the alarms when you leave as we will be out.” Alec nodded, moving his hand from my shoulder to the small of my back. I closed my eyes, feeling a

We had people waiting for us at the hospital to check on the status of the Nebrodi Delta heir. Chesed was on edge and livid at the interruption back at the villa. I’m not going to say his feelings on the interruption are invalid. But in the big picture, he should get over it. His sexual desires can wait. ‘Don’t talk like they were just my desires. You were all about Crista touching you. You wanted her to get on her knees and show you what that mouth of hers can do. You wanted to take her against the glass patio door.’ Chesed scoffed as he took the offered clothes from André. I want to refute his words. But I can’t. As much as I like to consider myself the respectful and well-mannered one, my mind was clouded with lust back at the villa. I wanted Crista. I wanted her badly. To mark her and make her mine forever. I don’t want to let myself think of what would have happened if we hadn’t been interrupted. It would just put my mind back in that line of thinking.&n

  • Alpha of Nightmares   Incubi: Baby-Moon - Crista

I can’t believe we are going on a week-long vacation. I’m happy for the time to relax. And if I’m honest, to be away from everyone. My sisters have been overbearing recently. I know they are trying to be helpful, but even if I am starting to resemble a beached whale, I am not an invalid. I can still do things for myself. So a week away from them will be nice. And the same for Isadora and the other ranked she-wolves. I like each of them, but if they aren’t treating me like a child, they give all this advice from their pregnancies. And I appreciate it. I truly do. But I am not them, and they are not my mamma. This trip happened just in time because I was inches from ripping Isadora’s face off. She is a wonderful woman. I love her; I do.

  • Alpha of Nightmares   Incubi: Baby-Moon - Alec

We’ve reached the third trimester of Crista’s pregnancy, and if memory serves, this will be the more uncomfortable trimester. The first trimester was hard on Crista, and as her mate, I felt her pain and did what I could to take some of it. But no mate bond can stop morning sickness. Still find that a strange phrase, a complete oxymoron from anything I’ve seen. I thought I’d seen plenty of morning sickness during Liliana’s pregnancy with the twins and also from a less up-close experience during Izzy’s three pregnancies. Crista, however, suffered far worse. Doctor Anselma Laurito diagnosed her with hyperemesis gravidarum, severe morning sickness. Thankfully, with proper monitoring and ensuring Crista stayed hydrated, we could make it through that first trimester. And by the start of her fift

I shook my head, willing my blush away. I was failing, but I was trying, damn it. “Anyway… Tiberius sent me a surprise from our family home.” I gestured to my mamma’s gown.“And of course, I’m for Crista wearing this. It was our mamma’s dress. She met our papa in that dress and took the Beta oath in it. She promised it to Crista when we were just kids. So she should wear it tonight.” Persephone snorted.André’s eyes lit up as he looked at the gown. Gently setting down the black dress, he picked my mamma’s dress up like he was holding a priceless jewel.“This is… oh, it’s gorgeous. The craftsmanship is exquisite. Nonna Gwen had taste. It’s heavenly… ethereal. It’s sexy while still demur. It just screams Crista, host of Light.” André gushed before gently putting the dress down.“Now, why are we arguing?” André looked from

A lot happened, and it all happened so fast. It wasn’t even two months ago that I was getting dressed up for Thales’s welcome home party, heart fluttering as I wondered if we would be mates. My mind raced with thoughts of becoming Luna of Nebrodi rather than Beta. All that quickly changed when Madonie attacked us. Thales was killed. His parents, my parents, all the ranked wolves were killed. All but Tiberius, my sisters, and me. Though they did a number on Tiberius and had some nefarious plans for him based on what he’s told me after waking up from his coma. ‘You weren’t wrong on that feeling you’d be a Luna rather than a Beta.’ Emilia shrugged. ‘Instead, we’re Luna of Incubi and mated to a much better-looking male than Thales.” Her nose twitched slightly as she made the comparison. I rolled my eyes. ‘It’s rude to speak ill of the dead. Thales was cute as a boy, and I’m sure he’d grown to be a handsome man while studying abroad. But even t

“Of course. Rather hard to not have an alliance with my mate’s father and twin brother.” Tiberius shrugged as he flipped through the papers. Darren nodded, scanning the documents a bit more thoroughly. “Of course, Alpha. We intend to also maintain an alliance with Bloodmoon. I am unsure if that is in your plans or Tiberius’s for your individual packs. But given I am from Bloodmoon and retain connections there, André and I intend to write up a formal treaty with Alpha Logan for our packs. We plan to present it to him before his wedding in November.” Darren explained. I’m not surprised he wants to keep an alliance with his former pack. Given that the Bloodmoon wolf is connected on some ancient cosmic levels with Darkness and Light, I already had that in mind. “I cannot speak for Tiberius, but yes. Damon faxed over a rough draft of our treaty to Logan this morning.” Tiberius shrugged. “Katrina suggested we make the alliance too. She assumed you and André

Sitting in my office at the town hall, I found it hard to focus. So much has happened. So much has changed. And it all happened in what both felt like a blink but also forever. It’s only been a month since our victory over Ignazio, and things are still settling down. It’s strange to think that a chance encounter turned my world upside down. ‘It was not a chance encounter.’ Darkness snorted, his voice faint from beyond the wall that contained him. I sighed in concession. Darkness is right. Nothing about what happened was by chance. Everything happened by design. As the hosts of Darkness and Light, it was only a matter of time that Crista and I would be drawn to each other. Ironic that Melania wanted to prevent us from coming together, yet everything she did only pushed us down that path. Her enlisting Ignazio to do her bidding, having him attack the Nebrodi to take Crista, starting a war with my pack, all of it brought Crista and me together.

Witch? What in the world? Does that mean the reason Tiberius has been in a coma even after Katrina at his side this whole time is witch-related? I swear if Melania did anything to Tiberius… what I did to Silvano would look like child’s play. ‘We can’t kill the witch.’ Light sighed. I frowned. ‘Why the hell now?’ I demanded. ‘Only another Berardi witch can kill her. So if Katrina is displaying witch powers, she can or the Crone. You will have to leave it to them.” Light shrugged. “I still want to see them. To know they are okay.” I insisted. Damon sighed, and I could tell he was getting exasperated. Even if I haven’t had the ceremony, I’m his Luna, so he wants to do what I ask. He’s also loyal to Alec and obviously wants to protect me and stay on Alec’s good side. “Crista! Forget Katrina. I can feel Delilah!” Persephone shook my arm. I blinked and let myself call out to Delilah. She’s okay! My sister is okay. ‘I’m okay. I’m sorry that I worried you both.’ I wi

I know I’m going to get a lecture for this. Alec won’t be happy that I left the villa, but he’ll get over it. And Chesed… well, I’m not sure which he’ll be angrier about. Me leaving the villa or driving his car. Either way, he can shove it. I’m not some helpless damsel. I have Light, and well, if what she did to Silvano is even a fraction of her power, I’m going to say me, and the baby is in good hands. ‘I will do my best to keep you and the pup safe. However, I cannot use the full extent of my power in this form. So keep that in mind.’ Light cautioned as I pulled out of the driveway. “Damn, this is a sweet ride. A Maserati Ghibli Trofeo, it can go from zero to ninety-six kilometers in under four seconds.” Persephone whistled in appreciation as she wrung a hand over the dashboard. She and papa were total gear heads. “I know we are in a rush to follow Katrina to ensure she and Tiberius are okay. But maybe we shouldn’t test just how fast this car

I snarled, wanting to go after my son and Gastone. My need to protect my son kicked in as I started to turn in that direction. Darkness, however, pulled me back. Freezing me in place.‘Leave the underling to your son. We have work to do.’ Darkness growled, his eyes locked on Ignazio. The little twit was still standing there, in no rush to escape. His grip on that chain that dragged a she-wolf by her neck tightened.“Amazed you showed yourself, old man. I heard you’ve been in hiding. Too afraid to come and face me.” Ignazio scoffed, yanking at the chain, forcing the girl in front of him. He’s seriously using her as a shield. There’s no honor in that.“Do you like my little pet? She’s not as lovely as the prize I’m going to claim. I heard you took a liking to my mate. Too bad she’s mine. I’d say you’ll get over it, but it won’t matter. You’ll be dead.” Ignaz
