I wake with a start, and immediately I’m pissed. Not only did Kane knock me out with that mate thing, we’re in a plane. “How the hell did you fuckers get me on a plane?” I ask.

Across the aisle, and to my left, Zael snorts loudly. “Please. It wasn’t difficult. We didn’t use a commercial airport. All I had to do was mesmerise the humans.”

Kane is sitting across from me, his long legs stretched out before him, arms crossed over his chest. It looks like he’s asleep, but he’s not. “You had no right,” I growl at him.

“I had every right,” he says in that calm, deep tone that lets me know this conversation isn’t happening.

“What about my warriors?”

He doesn’t even open his eyes when he answers me. “On their way home. You really…don’t be surprised if some of them want to break the oath when they’re home.”
