Chapter 35 Failed to Recognize

Kyle, taken aback, seemed unable to find his voice as Ethan took over to conclude the tale. 

"We spotted her," Mike interjected eagerly, recounting the scene. "She was observing where the patrol had passed, slowly advancing towards the den. Quietly muttering under her breath, she carried a small pot, dribbling its contents on the ground. She got perilously close, just 50 yards from the forest's edge."

"Why didn't you alert the patrol?" Kyle inquired, his tone slow and deliberate, reminiscent of the night he found Rosette after her second abduction. The air grew heavy with foreboding for the young wolves.

"We were about to, but she suddenly turned and fled the way she came. We split up and followed her," Frank declared with pride.

"Where did you track her to?" Kyle asked calmly, a demeanor that foreshadowed impending consequences.

"She has a makeshift camp roughly 2 miles from the perimeter," Mike disclosed. "We didn't dare approach too closely
