“Wait.”

Shane’s voice was firm and strong, it was everything I needed right now. He grabbed my arm and walked through the house. His sister yelled at us as he pulled me along, but he didn’t pay her any mind. I did the same, I didn’t look at her. I’ve never been in his house. He pulled me through a door and I realized we were in his room. It was barren except for a bed in the corner and a small table by the window.

“Why are you here, Adea You can’t be here. It’s too dangerous. What if someone saw you? Did someone see you?” Shane asked.

“Other than a few people outside, no one saw me.”

“Okay, I’ll make sure to talk to them.”

“Why did you come here?” Shane asked again.

“You were seen leaving this morning.”

“So you came here? Goddess, Adea. Are you okay?”

“Yes, now that I think about it, it wasn’t the smartest move. I’m okay. They didn’t see you coming down the wall but my sister is suspicious. They only saw you running into the field.”

“But we were close to getting caught,” Shane said.
