No one before she and Jacob made the wand glow, and that was all the Mages in the town.

No one else would and could appear now, it was HERS!

Ann stepped up there like a glowing queen, and of course she was in her finest suit -- she even wore a pair of white leather gloves, as a little touch of her elegancy.

She put her hand over the wand, and a shadow was cast over The Shadow, making the light reflected on the wand even dimmer.

She grabbed the wand and rose her arm over her head! She heard the crowd gasped in sync, and she looked up--

The wand was not glowing.

No one spoke. No one even moved. All eyes were on her, and unlike Jacob's little incident, this one they WILL remember.

The smile was off Ann's face now.

"Wait!" She glanced at the crowd in panic as she tried ripping the gloves off her hand, "It's my gloves... give me a second."

The second glove just won't come off.

Ann threw the glove she managed to rip off away and grabbed the wand with her bare hand.

Again, nothing happened.

"What's wrong with it?!" Ann shook the wand like crazy, and the high priest stepped up to calm her.

"Calm down, my child --"

"No! Something is wrong!" Ann shouted at him, "This can't be the real wand! Someone must have swapped it! I'll prove it!"

She grabbed the wand with both her hand and crashed it into her knees --

Of course she didn't have the power to really break the relic, but the high priest couldn't allow such disrespect anymore.

The wand was taken away.

And now the crowd could not keep its silence. Murmurs burst out among them, and this time they weren't very implicit with the laughter.

"Ann! Get down here!" Jacob yelled at Ann, but she just remain frozen on the stage in shock, glancing at the crowd from left to right as if she forgot how to move.

"Silence."

The archbishop's voice was not too loud, but silence fell fast than ever.

"Hank, check your vision."

The high priest bowed at the order of the archbishop, and a magic bubble appeared in front of him quickly with his crystal ball floating in there, quietly.

Taking a look into the future was not something to be done in front of the whole clan of Mages, it was too delicate a matter for that. And under the staring of the countless eyes, there was soon sweat coming off the high priest's forehead.

He closed his eyes shut as he tried to concentrate, despite the staring.

The image finally appeared.

The Shadow was floating under which was obviously a sky of night time, and around it was dark smoke and trees at a bit further distance.

"The vision changed!" The high priest gasped in shock and as he lost focus, the image disappeared as fog took over control of the crystal ball.

"In my old visions, the wand woke in the square! It has been like that for years!" The high priest stammered at the archbishop, "I checked only last night and it was still clear and stable, as always!"

"Something happened today!" A yelp came from the crowd, and around the yelp rose agreeing murmurs.

"But we have ALL the Mages here!" The high priest shook his head slowly, still couldn't believe his eyes.

Like everyone else, even the high priest thought it would be Ann. She WAS the most talented at her age.

"How do you know that person would be a Mage?" Someone else shouted, "It could be anyone!"

"What exactly did you see, high priest?" A woman demanded at Hank, "Please share it with us now."

"I saw a witch," Hank sighed as he put away his crystal ball, "Holding The Shadow in her hand on this stage, and every grain of the wand was glowing in her hand, brighter than the moon..."

"Did she die?" Someone asked in horror, "Maybe something happened to her! You know? The closer to a prediction, the bigger the influence of any random incidents."

The archbishop cleared his throat and the crowd went quiet again.

"Who is the girl we scheduled to turn tonight?"

The archbishop's voice was small, but the impact was no less than a bomb blowing up in the crowd.

"Could it be?!"

"But she's still a human!"

"She was destined to be here though..."

"What happened to her?!"

"Please, everyone, give us a minute." The high priest rose his voice and the whispering died down a little, "Jacob, please, could you come up to the stage?"

Jacob didn't move, and Ann stared at him as if she was about to jump and bite him with her eyes red like a rabbit--

Exactly the look that she was laughing at not too long ago.

"Jacob, please." Hank's voice was soft but stern, and Jacob complied.

"Who was this girl that you required us to turn, could you please tell us?" Hank asked.

"She--" Jacob opened his mouth, only to realize his throat was shut dry.

He cleared his throat before he tried again: "She's my girlfriend, Lilith, Lilith Hayes."

"I'm sorry to ask, but you know how important this is to us, so," The high priest said in his softest voice, "Would you enlighten us why you required to turn her, but didn't take her here in the end?"

"She..." Jacob hesitated as he glanced at the archbishop, who just sat there with his eyes closed, "We had an argument earlier today, so..."

The crowd looked at each other with pure shock printed in their eyes. Could it be? The powerful witch that has the fate of the Mages in her hands, was just a human girl?

The archbishop spoke again: "Hank, when is it in your new vision?"

"It's tonight, I looked into tonight." Hank didn't let go of Jacob as he turned to answer the archbishop, "It won't change by much now because the closer I see, the more certain my vision."

"Only we don't know where, or the exact time." The archbishop's voice was so low as if he was just murmuring to himself.

"So..." Jacob opened his mouth, and he heard his own voice shaking, "Should we go and look for Lilith?"

"We are not sure that she's the one yet," Hank said with that calming voice, "But do you think it would be too much a bother if we go and check?"

"Don't bother, Hank." The archbishop said as he stood up slowly. It looked as if even a tiny blow of wind would make him fall over, "We can't make fate, fate happens."

"But how would you know the new vision did not happen exactly because we go looking for her now?" Jacob asked with hope hidden in his voice.

He wanted to go look for Lilith.

"I don't, my child." The archbishop smiled warmly before he stomped his cane on the ground and disappeared in front of Jacob's eyes.

"Can I go then, high priest? Please?" Jacob asked, "I'll bring the wand back, I promise!"

"I can't let you do that." Hank shook his head, "The wand stays with me. But I can go with you."

"That's great!" Jacob almost jump up, "She must be home now, we can head there--"

"Where's the wand!" Hank's voice had a shade of horror as he looked around in panic, "Who took the wand!"

There weren't too many people remaining at the square. Many left even before the archbishop --

They came at order, but they knew they weren't special enough to be the one. But obviously, someone thought they WERE, and they took the wand even though they couldn't waken it--

Jacob gasped as he asked in a shaking voice:

"Where is Ann?"

"It IS beautiful, isn't it?" Ann mumbled. All she could think of was how she told Jacob not too long ago about how love doesn't matter, yet she felt so powerless in front of this mysterious man smiling in front of her. "Please, we need your help." Said the man with not even a shred of hasty in his voice, "Could you call an ambulance? The girl is badly hurt." "Hmm, yes of course!" "Feeling better?" A deep, rough voice rose beside Lilith, but she couldn't seem to understand it. She felt as if the whole world was twirling around her when she finally managed to move a little, and she could barely feel her own eyelids. "Don't move, you hit your head pretty hard." The man covered his palm softly on Lilith's forehead so she won't rip her wound open. "Who are you..." Lilith opened her mouth but her throat was so dry that even she could barely hear herself. "No rush on talking." The man moistened his finger with water and stroked her lips as soft as possible, "You will feel better after you drink some water." There was little struggle Lilith could put up before her world went dark again. The man pushed the button by the side of the bed: "Nurse, get Dr. Sarla, please." "Yes, Mr. Gaumond." Edmund gazed at Lilith for long before he finally closed his bloodshot eyes. He barely slept in the pa

He wasn't sure whether Lilith could hear them though, or if she cared to-- Cause she was crying, quietly but with tears falling down her cheeks nonstop as if there was a snow mountain inside her head melting. How could one cry so much without drinking water...? Edmund sighed in his mind as he handed over another tissue, seeing the last one was soon soaked wet. Whispers rose like bee buzz right outside of the ward door as if someone stole their queen bee. Edmund frowned at himself when he landed on that metaphor. "So..." "I know, it was in the report." With a shred of frustration in his voice, Edmund hissed under his breath with his eyes fixed on the ward door. He gave her a command to stay put, yet he was still guarding the room like a little boy hovering over his new toy. "Yes, and by the way, it was also this woman, Emma Brown's car that Miss Hayes was driving when she crashed it." Buster continued hastily, seeing Edmund's impatience growing. "And?" But Lilith didn't have any spare mind to really make any decision. Lilith woke up in the middle of the night, and Edmund was sitting in a chair right next to her bed. "What in the name of Jesus!" Edmund shot open his eyes, apparently also a bit shocked: "Sorry! I dozed off...How are you feeling?" The last thing Lilith remembered was Ann inviting her to the private room in the library to "talk", so waking up to Edmund sitting next to her was as if the past several days was a super long horrible dream. As if she never woke up from the crashing night. "Why am I here?!" Lilith asked in panic, "What happened?! I thought I was in the library..." Considering her reaction -- well, her fury -- the last time he suggested to Lilith that Jacob might cause her crash, Edmund decided against dumping the nightmare-like day to her. Instead, Edmund just sat down on the side of the bed and patted her on the head-- "You are okay now...shhh--" "Don't!--" Lilith threw her wrist and hit Edmund's hand away, y

Several voices shouted at the same time. Some of them were mages, shouting at the fact that "Lilith" got hold of the wand; Mike, Ann and another mage standing near Algood were shouting at Algood because they didn't want the body control spell lifted. If only shouting works. They never do. "Lilith" got the wand in her bloody hand, and then blacked out the next second, like a puppet who just lost its strings. The wand also dropped from her lifeless hand, rolling away and stopped in the middle of the room. "Buster, the wand!" Edmund shouted as he managed to stand up with Lilith's body held in his arms, "Sarla!" Buster jumped out at the wand the second he heard his name called out, and Sarla was already at Edmund's side checking on Lilith's status. "Boss, she's fine, just out cold." Sure, Edmund sighed in his mind -- he wasn't even that surprised. He was now pretty sure Ann was the one who crashed Lilith's car, so he doubt if he'd be surprised if one day he finds out that Ann had killed someone. "So, Mr. Algood," Edmund turned to Jacob's father with a dangerous smile, "Body control spell is your specialty?" "I don't owe you any explanation!" Algood snorted coldly, "Don't get too comfortable here, wolf!" "I wonder why you would help," Edmund sneered, ignoring Algood's attitude, fixing his eyes on "Lilith." There was now visible fear on "Lilith's" face. "Would you care if I kill..." Edmund's eyes fell slowly on Algood, "whoever inside her?" "Of course not!" Algood scolded furiously, "What are you implying?!" "I'm not implying anything," Edmund let out a light laugh, "I'm SAYING, you are the one who cast this spell, and my guess is, the person who is controlling Lilith's action is your son, Jacob Algood."

Though a bit surprised, Edmund was actually waiting for this moment -- Whoever made Lilith into this weird puppet, Edmund needed them to use her to reveal themselves so he could save her. Lilith picked up her left leg and threw her knee into Edmund's abdomen. Edmund back a step fast, trying to avoid her leg-- She would hurt herself if the crash happened -- A werewolf's body was was too strong for a human's kick! Edmund rose up Lilith's right arm into the air so she was barely standing on the ground, and losing all the momentum she had as her body bumped into his chest. Usually this would stop one from trying to make more damage but Lilith swang her body as if her wrist couldn't feel pain, and the second Edmund realized that whoever possessed her body didn't care about her, he had to let her go-- And this time Lilith's foot hit his hand and the suitcase flew out and slid to Ann's feet. "Guess it wasn't her after all." Hank let out a relieved sigh-- For a second, he was really worried that Ann just might be the one causing the crash! "I'm sorry for the unfortunate crash," The archbishop sighed lightly, "Maybe some hothead went for her after Hank's vision changed on the meeting, but if so, at least she would be safe now." "That would be the best." Edmund nodded politely, not letting anyone see the suspicion in his eyes, "I have only one question before I gave this suitcase to you: who would be in charge of this wand, if you were to waken it?" "No one." The archbishop shook his head, "And I don't want your blood." This time Edmund was genuinely surprised -- he actually thought his blood was what the coven was after. Why would they need him if they didn't want to use his blood to waken the wand?! "I had the exact same surprised face," The archbishop smiled warmly, "When my mentor told me he didn't want to waken the wand,

The old man held out his hand to Lilith, "Let me take a look." Lilith took a quick glance at Mr. Algood before she walked toward the archbishop slowly, and put her hand in that wrinkled palm lightly. The old man held her hand as he closed his eyes as if he was listening carefully to something. Everyone in the room was holding back their breath as if that would disturb this mysterious ritual. Putting down his glass, Edmund took a step forward to Lilith, and Ann noticed his intention immediately-- "Please," Ann curved her lips as she announced to the room, "This is the girl who asked to be turned on our last meeting, Jacob's girlfriend, Lilith Hayes." Lilith stood there, not even blinking as if it wasn't her name that just silenced the room. "What is this?" Hank frowned -- he just got out from the archbishop's study, "I didn't know--" "Sorry, Hank," Mike, Ann's father put a hand on his shoulder, "it was my mistake. Not flat enough to be accepted by Edmund though-- "You have been pretty bold lately," Edmund squinted his eyes with a frown, "Maybe I have given you too much freedom?" "It's my job to assist you, boss." Buster bowed, gentleman like, "I merely feel that you need more of that now, ever since you met Miss Hayes." "I don't know what you are talking about."
