“Mother!” Ivorie nearly screamed as she sprang up to her feet and lunged herself into her mother. They locked themselves in a tight embrace.

“Oh…my priceless jewel.” The older woman groaned.

She squeezed her daughter into her embrace, holding her like she wouldn't let her go ever again.

Ivorie, for the first time in a long time, felt protected. She was finally in the embrace of someone she could confide in, someone who understood her.

She has been independent and strong on her own, standing firm and keeping her ground. All those resolve seemed to suddenly dissolved in her mother's arms. All the toughness, the wit, they all broke down into torrents of tears welling from her eyes.

“Mother…” she cried, “I didn't do it…”

“I know…I know…” Luna Ivy said, patting and rubbing her back.

“You would never do such a thing, you are my little white rose. You would never do such evil.” She said assuredly.

That seemed to calm Ivorie down a bit as she stopped sobbing.

“Quick, I don't have much time.

Regan sighed deeply as he alighted from the carriage that had brought him to the southern border of the pack. This was where the warriors sent by Alpha Jared had landed at. He was only here to assess and mark them so they could officially become Cresthowl pack warriors. No werewolf is welcomed into a pack unless he is from that particular pack. And if he isn't, he has to be marked as a member of that pack otherwise, he would be recognized as a trespasser. As Regan strode towards the contingent building of the southern warriors, his mind flashed to when he was just coming here. When he was in his carriage, he had a glimpse of the talked about hardship of the pack members. He had seen the suffering they were going through as the carriage rode through the streets.Beggars were littered at every junction, both old and young. The markets were close to empty. They were a total contrast to what he remembered of them the last time he was there, which was when he was so young and still a pri

Regan's boot sank into the ground as he landed from his carriage. He ignored the greetings of the castle workers blatantly as he stomped towards the main building. It was written all over his manner of walking that he was here for straight business. The guards at the entrance of the castle main building were smart enough to open the door as soon as their eyes landed on their Alpha stomping towards them.Even as they bowed to greet him and he ignored them, they left their heads that way until they were sure he had gone past them a good distance.“Alpha!” Estan called from the stairway as he descended hurriedly. That was the only time Regan slowed his tracks.“Where's my Luna?” He asked in a gruff voice as his Beta got to him.Estan's eyes darted around before answering, “What's going on?” He asked confusedly.“I want the Luna out of the dungeon and taken care of this instant, Beta!” Regan growled, making Estan stand upright.“Yes, Alpha!” He answered and dashed off.He lowered his head

“Alpha…I would like to apologise on behalf of my fellow Elder. Er…what he did was…” Elder Callen's words were cut off by Regan.“He committed a despicable crime, Elder, he would pay for it. There's nothing, not even your plea, that can save him from that.” Regan said dismissively. He was apparently still in rage.Who wouldn't be? This was an utter betrayal. A treasonous act of the highest order. He had been stabbed in the back by his own subjects, people he had thought he could trust in running the pack with.“I know, Alpha. I…I just want you not to act based on your rage. You need to punish him according to the laid down law so the people will not see you as a wicked Alpha.” Elder Callen said softly.Regan gazed at him longingly. For a moment, he thought if he would also betray him. He doubted that. There were some people whose loyalty weren't questionable and waverable. One of those people was Elder Callen. He had served Regan's father till his last breath and still continued his se

“Quick, get him to the infirmary!” Regan bellowed at the guards standing by.Immediately, both of them bent over and carried Estan's unconscious body. That was when Ivorie came running into the dining hall. She had almost collided with the guards as they carried Estan out.Horror and confusion etched on her face as she watched them leave. She faced Regan. “What happened?” She asked tensely.Regan walked past her, following the guards.“I have no idea.” He answered gravely. They both followed the guards to the infirmary. A few minutes later, Estan was in the inner ward, receiving treatment from the healers while Regan and Estan waited outside – in the waiting room.Regan was seated in an apparently thoughtful manner – his elbows rested on his knees while his jaw rested on his two knuckles.Suddenly, he faced the guard who had mindlinked him.“Tell me what happened,” he said.“I'm not sure what, Alpha. But when they were all eating, he suddenly fell down unconscious. No other signs occ

“What? Is that possible?” She asked, her eyes spelling shock and excitement.Regan nodded, “It has only happened a number of times but we can try our luck.” He said.Ivorie was getting excited. The prospect of having a wolf shot adrenaline through her veins. It was exhilarating. She wouldn't be wolfless again, she wouldn't be regarded as weak.“So, how can it be done? When can we begin?” She asked, rasping excitedly.Regan gestured with his hands, “You have to relax…” he was suddenly cut off by the sound of a voice in his head.‘Alpha, Beta Estan has regained consciousness.’ Shaerah's voice echoed in his head.He immediately stood up, although not responding.“What's wrong?” Asked Ivorie, her worried gaze following him.“It's Estan, he's awake.” He told her and made his way towards the exit.“Should I come along?” She asked, desperate to know what he had to say about finding her wolf.Unfortunately, Regan shook his head as he walked out.Regan made his way to the infirmary. Ivorie's scream echoed in the silent Archives hall. By instincts, she dived to the side, avoiding Martin's fangs by a heartbeat.Ivorie wasted no time. She dashed towards the direction she had dived to and bolted. That was what her brain could give her at the moment– run.“Help!” She yelped, hoping someone would hear her screams and come to her rescue. She stumbled upon shelves as she ran, not daring to look back.Suddenly, as she made a turn by a shelf, she came face to face with Martin. The scream of horror that escaped her mouth was almost deafening.Martin roared loudly, displaying his horrid fangs and gold glowing eyes. He grabbed her by the shoulders, gripping her with his claws.Ivorie wailed, her eyes widened in horror. She had been caught. She gasped once, her breath seemingly failing her. She gasped again for breath and again. It was as though her consciousness was slipping from her.She became scared. The fear in her was at its peak. It was at the point where she couldn't

“Urgh!” Martin groaned loudly as blood spewed out of his mouth, splattering the floor with crimson hue.He was in a dungeon, strapped to a metal chair where he was receiving punishment from Regan and Estan. The duo were standing before him, Regan's fist was stained with the guard’s blood as he glared at him with peak killing intent.“He won't say anything.” Estan remarked, equally frustrated as Regan was.Martin raised his head and faced them, grinning from ear to ear. His blooded mouth gave him an irritating look. They had been at it for two days since he had been detained, trying to get information out of him. His stubbornness was peak and he hadn't given in to their tortures.“How are we supposed to know why he wanted to kill my wife? And who sent him. For all we know, he might even know something about Jenna's whereabouts.” Regan said, his veins popping out from his neck.Estan nodded slowly. “You think he is working for Jenna?” He asked.“I know it.” Regan maintained. Brennan sighed deeply, slumping on the small bed in the room of a motel. He and his men had been on the search for Jenna for days and their search has yielded no result. It was only fair for them to take a few hours of break in the nearby motel in the middle of the town.Brennan was about to pull off his gear when there came a loud knock on the door.“Captain!” The voice behind the door cried, sounding urgent.Brennan sprang to his feet and opened the door quickly.“What is it?” He asked as the face of his comrade came to view. He looked excited and anxious at the same time.“I spotted her!” Were the first words he spewed.Confusion hit Brennan and his face contorted with it.“You spotted who, warrior?” He asked in a bold tone.“The Duchess, I spotted her!” The warrior answered, still sounding overly excited.Brennan's eyebrows shot up in shock. “Are you sure of this?” He asked, even though he walked back into his room to grab his sheathed sword.“I'm certain, captain. But we have to

Everyone watched as the little girl - Evangeline, as Clawn had referred to her as - went mute. She still had a deep scowl on her face, which in reality, made her look cute rather than angry.“You will NOT speak to our guest in such manner!” Clawn ordered in a grave tone, his sharp and menacing glare rooted on his daughter’s face. She, however, didn't give the reaction Ivorie had thought she would. She instead fisted her hands, turned around and dashed off. A guard went running after her.Silence still reigned around the table, silence that carried awkwardness.“Let the feast proceed.” Clawn said in a low and unhappy tone before picking his spoon.‘Well, that wasn't awkward.’ Maia remarked within Ivorie, sarcasm dripping from her calm voice.‘I’m going to ask Clawn what this is all about.’‘I believe a father and daughter issue should be solved by them alone.’ Maia interjected.‘Does this sound like a mere father-daughter quarrel? It obviously has something to do with me and if there's

The latter slumped on the bed and exhaled heavily while Grace dropped the small bags she brought along with her. As they had been informed by Alpha Clawn, the rest of them would be brought by his servants.“I do recall him mentioning his family once, but it didn’t occur to me that he ever had a daughter.” Ivorie expressed, her gaze sweeping around the room they were in. Massive wardrobes, extravagant candle chandelier, lush rug – the usual furniture expected to be found in a proper castle chamber. Although a bit smaller in size when compared to her chamber in Cresthowl pack, Ivorie couldn’t complain. Alpha Clawn had helped them enough and she wouldn’t worry him about a change in accommodation. That would be an act of ingratitude.“You must be tired, Luna. I will request for a bath to be prepared for you so you can have your bath. Then you can have some food…” Grace ranted on as she dropped

‘’Luna, we have to remain quiet!’’ Grace whisper-yelled, holding Ivorie’s arm and desperately trying to keep her calm.Ivorie, however, was writhing in pain. Her hands clenched tightly that her veins popped and her teeth gritted as she tried to no avail to suppress her painful scream. She faced her handmaid and looked into her worrisome eyes.‘’I’m in…pain…’’ Ivorie cried through her gritted teeth.Panic surged through Grace and she fumbled with Ivorie's hands. Suddenly, a male voice from outside bellowed. ‘’You bloody liar! How many women are with you? Answer me!’’Grace’s face went pale immediately. She remembered Alpha Clawn’s words about how the rogues won’t know they were in the carriage if only they kept mute. Now that possibility is gone. She knew she had to find a way to protect herself and the Luna.Outside the carriage, two bulk-sized men stood before a more lanky but taller one. Of course, the taller one was the coachman riding the carriage while the two other men were rogu

Regan stood on the balcony of his chamber and watched as Ivorie entered the carriage. He watched as her handmaid came rushing to her front and kneeling before her.He was the one who had quickly informed the handmaid of Ivorie's departure. It was an impromptu departure and so most people in the castle weren't aware of it, including Grace. Regan had thought that she would need a friendly company with her in a strange land. And he knew she and her handmaid had grown into that friend zone. He also noticed that she was a very loyal servant and wouldn't leave Ivorie's side.Regan's heart bled when the carriage left, his wolf wailed and pushed him to stop her from leaving. To hold her to himself and embrace her forever. But he couldn't do that, he couldn't be selfish. She had to leave, not only for her safety, but also for the safety of those still in the castle.“Alpha,” a voice called him from behind and he snapped out of his saddening thoughts. He quickly wiped the drop of tear that tric

It was the following morning, the day Ivorie was to leave Cresthowl pack with Alpha Clawn. She wasn't running but playing her part to keep what the enemies wanted away from them.Ivorie had woken early that day and taken her bath. After dressing in her favourite obsidian green flowery gown, she ordered some servants to help her pack the necessary stuffs she wanted to take with her. All the while, she had a sulky look on her face. She waited outside her bedroom as she watched the servants do their work. Her mind had wandered off to the possibilities of a good and comfortable life in Blackwood pack. She knew she wouldn't be able to see Regan everyday. She wouldn't even be able to see him at all for moons or as long as she needed to stay there.‘I cannot believe you agreed to stay away from mate.’ Maia reprimanded her from within. She had been doing that all night, robbing ivorie of a sound sleep. Not that the latter could sleep anyway.‘It is for the best, maia.' ivorie said to her wol

The sun was beginning to set upon the Moonbeam pack lands. Alpha Johan and his team of conspirators had been waiting at the pack border for the whole day.“How long more do we have to wait till you believe that your mercenaries failed?” Nick asked in a tone of frustration. He was standing next to Alpha Johan as they both watched warriors training below from the building they were in.Without facing him, Alpha Johan responded, “I’ve told you countless times, Commander, this part of the job requires patience. Which you clearly lack.”Nick scoffed, “You know to be honest, when I initially saw those werewolves you hired, I noticed that they wouldn't be as professional as you said they were.” He pointed out tauntingly.Alpha Johan chuckled but it was beta Jordan who spoke. “Be careful with your words to the Alpha, Commander. He is an Alpha and when he says the mercenaries are good, they are.” The beta stated sternly.Nick, however, remained unfazed and scoffed again. “And how many times ha

Everyone in the hall gazed at Alpha Clawn with awry eyes. They couldn't believe what they had just heard from him.“Would you care to elaborate, Alpha Clawn?” Elder Callen requested.Clawn sighed heavily before looking straight at Regan. “That night of the Winter Ball, I saw the face of the man that attempted to murder me.” He announced, bringing gasps into the hall from the members.Alpha Clawn eyes darted around before landing on Regan again. “This should be confidential. There may be ears on the walls.” He stated sternly.Regan nodded before glancing at the guards around. “Leave,” and at once, all the guards marched out smoothly. All the Elders and nobles had their interest piqued now. They sat at the edge of their seats, waiting for Clawn's story to continue.“I believed that if I came out that I wasn't dead, it might be a bit difficult to know who my killer really was, or why he had wanted me dead.” Clawn continued. “So I kept the news of my death the way it was and asked my men

She had a concerned look on her face.“Luna, I hope you do not feel feverish?” She asked. Ivorie shook her head.“You know, if you want to rest a bit, there is some space…”Ivorie interrupted her, “I’m okay Grace. Thank you for your concern. You should also take a rest yourself, you have done well today.” Ivorie complimented the handmaid, gaining a warm smile and a bow from her.As Grace returned to her seat, Ivorie went to the guard that was standing at the entrance of the bunker that they were in.“How come I didn't know about this secret bunker until this day?” She asked as she folded her arms on top of her belly.“It was made a secret for a reason, Luna.
