Jamari’s POVAs I stand on my side of the barrier and stare at the boulders arranged on the other side, a blue colored elf with pointy ears suddenly moves from behind one of the boulders. HIs intense gaze is locked onto mine as his muscular chest heaves from his steady breathing. His arms move up to wrap around the massive expanse of his chest as he eyes me with interest. “This is highly unexpected, little Wolf Queen.” He says. His eyes stay locked on me, not sparing a glance to the others even once. Four other men appear from behind the boulders, their wary glances moving between the six of us in turn. “What brings you out here?” The blue elf asks, drawing my attention back to him. Crossing my arms over my chest, I lean my weight to my right hip, giving him a sassy look that I have seen on Eve’s face countless times throughout our dealings. “I could ask you the same thing.” My snarky response surprises him, his eyebrow raises in surprise as he looks at me more intently. The blue el
Levi’s POVThe soldiers that came in and surrounded us suddenly leap into the air, their weapons flying around in every direction as they attempt to push their way towards where Kenji is placed inside the circle of our bodies. An evil smirk appears on Morgana’s face, her eyes changing from their normal silver color to full obsidian, much like mine and Kenji’s. The sight unnerves me and makes me glad that she is on our side and not on theirs. Her hands move up into the air, sending waves of magic out towards the soldiers that are throwing themselves at us. A hissing sound from my left draws my attention away from Morgana just in time to see Lucern grab hold of one of the soldiers and sink his fangs into the hybrid's neck. Blood slides down the man’s throat as Lucern sucks the lifeforce out of him with deep, hurried pulls. Hands suddenly appear from beneath the earth, reaching up and grabbing at the soldiers that are quickly making their way towards us. Bodies slowly begin to pour ou
Jamari’s POVLevi’s body stiffens beside me, his eyes snapping to where Ice stands in front of us, an expressionless look written on his face. I feel his hand reach out and tangle into the long, white fur of my wolf, needing the reassurance that touching me brings him. Rieka lifts her head into the air slightly, sniffing the air deeply as she keeps her gaze locked onto Ice’s expressionless one. I can feel the confusion move through me as Rieka struggles to figure out just who this man is. ‘I know it is you, my love.’ Ice says through the link, his voice holding a touch of sadness as he speaks. ‘How is it possible that you are here after all of this time?’ Understanding slowly starts to sit in as his words register in my brain. Somehow Ice knows Rieka from her previous life. Which I guess isn’t too crazy seeing as most of my mates were alive the last time that Rieka walked the Earth.‘I am afraid that you have me at a disadvantage.’ Rieka tells him through the link. ‘You seem to kno
Levi’s POVMy heart skips a beat in my chest as I watch Ice move towards Jamari’s wolf form. His arms wrap around Jamari’s neck moments before she starts to violently shake, a heart wrenching scream leaving her lips. “Fuck!” Without any thought, I race forward and snatch Ice up by his collar, receiving no resistance from the elf, which surprises me slightly. The elf allows me to pull him away from Jamari’s shaking body without complaint, his body going slack in my grasp as we move further away from my mate. Remiel moves past me in a blur, drawing my attention back to where Jamari’s wolf once stood. In her place in Jamari’s naked form, her body shivering from the cold and pain that I can feel flowing from her through the mate bond. “What did you do to her?” I snarl in Ice’s face, my Demon moving towards the surface, threatening to take over control at any moment and tear the elf to pieces. If these newbies thought what Remiel did to their fellow soldier was bad, they haven’t seen an
Jamari’s POV“Oh for Goddess sake!” I huff out, my irritation with my mates overprotectiveness reaching an all time high. I shove Kenji out of the way as I break free from Remiel’s grasp. “No one is kissing anyone.” I give both men a pointed glare, letting them know that I mean the both of them as well, before I turn my attention back to the blue elf standing in front of me looking embarrassed. “I understand that you and Rieka were mates in the past, and I am sorry that your relationship wasn’t able to flourish as you would have liked, but I am already filled to the brim with mates that were made for me and to be honest I don’t have it in me to court you as well.” Sadness washes over Ice’s face, echoing through my body as Rieka feels the same sadness. Ice bows his head slightly, a look of understanding replacing the sadness. “I understand, my lady.” He says, before straightening his shoulders back.Rieka forces control, shoving me to the dark recesses of my mind as she throws hersel
High Queen Mab’s POV‘What do you mean the Wolf Queen is at the barrier?’ The sound of my voice goes down the link at a high pitched tone as uneasiness settles in the pit of my stomach. What is that little wolf up to? I knew there was a large chance that the Vampire King was aware of my Dark Hunt Soldier’s presence on the outskirts of his pathetic barrier, but I did not think that the pup would be brazen enough to walk right up to them. ‘She is standing on the other side of the barrier questioning why we are here.’ Ice replies through the link, unfazed by my outburst from the surprising news. ‘What would you like me to tell her, my Queen?’My lips purse as I think over whether we should tell the little wolf the reason we are trying to get into the Vampire Realm. If we reveal the reason we are there it would give them the opportunity to sequester the Lycan King away and make it more difficult for us to capture. ‘Do not tell her why you are there.’ I tell Ice, placing myself in the re
High Queen Mab’s POV I lean back in my seat, mulling over that tidbit of information in my mind. Kieran sits beside me, quietly lost in his own thoughts. When would Kieran have had the chance to meet the Wolf Queen? He is a very powerful Fae, but even he is not strong enough to leave the Fae Realm as he pleases, at least not without risking being stuck on the outside. My eyes stray over to where my son sits in silence, something that I have not seen since he was a little boy. My gaze roams over my son's innocent looking features, his blonde hair shines brightly against the son coming in through the window behind us, sending streaks of golden highlights through his long locks. His pale skin contrasts nicely with the dark green sofa that we are currently sitting on, matching perfectly with the dark green of his usual eye color. His features look so similar to his father’s that for a moment my heart aches at the loss of my King. But that feeling disappears quickly when I remind mysel
Kieran’s POVThe scent of my mother’s fear is driving my inner beast wild. The fact that this woman had the audacity to go behind my back and kill what is mine is enough to destroy any lingering feelings of loyalty that might have been around thanks to her being my mother. “There is one creature in existence that my beast has developed an affinity to.” I tell her, watching as her breath hitches in her chest, her mind already figuring out exactly who it is that has captured the interest of my beast. Lifting my right hand from her throat, I drag my fingers along her cheek until I reach her chin, pulling on it roughly until she is facing me once again. “And you just ordered your little pet to kill that creature.” The growl in my voice startles my mother, causing her to jump in my arms, exciting my beast as he licks his lips in the dark recesses of my mind. Lifting my right hand from her throat, I drag my fingers along her cheek until I reach her chin, pulling on it roughly until she i
I have decided to end book 2 where it is. Thank you all for your continued support and positive reviews. I will be starting Book 3, the final book in the series, soon and will have it up by next month. I am currently dealing with a family emergency that might make my planned timeline a little longer than I would like so please bear with me as I plan out how to end Jamari's journey. The next book will introduce the last of Jamari's mates and will bring everything that has happened in the last two books to a head as well. I am so grateful to everyone that has stuck by me throughout this journey and I am anxious to see what is in store for Jamari and her mates. All my love, Heidi Monath
Jamari’s POV‘Did this fake bitch just say what I think she said?’ My body moves before I can register what is happening. The feeling of my body flying through the air as I launch myself towards where Sabina lays on the floor staring up at Lucern with lovesick eyes. ‘I will rip her still beating heart from her chest.’Something grabs hold of my waist before wrapping their strong arms around the slender area and pulls me close to a hard body. Howard’s scent invades my senses as my enraged mind refocuses on what is happening in front of me. A hand moves up to clamp over my lips in a warning to be quiet. When Howard drops me back to the hardwood floors, I swirl around on him in anger and glare at him. He gives me a sheepish look before turning his attention back to Sabina and Lucern. Letting out a huff of anger, I turn myself back to the bitch as well, plotting out her slow demise in my head as I watch.Lucern stares at her quietly, disbelief clear on his handsome cocoa features. His bo
Lucern’s POV“No one is here.” A disappointed look appears on Sabina’s face as we make our way into Howard’s hidden office that only a select few people are able to access. As we look around the large room, we find no one in sight, but I can sense my mate’s scent somewhere in this room, so I know she is here. Before I can call for Jamari to let her know that I can sense her in the room, Sabina suddenly throws herself at me. Her body drapes over mine, sending confusion through my body as she grabs hold of me tightly. The scent of blood fills the room, causing my nostrils to flare as I seek out the scent. Shoving Sabina to the side, I look around the room in search of where the scent of blood could be coming from. Sabina whimpers from behind me, drawing my attention to her direction. Blood flows from her stomach, coating her hands as she presses down on the wound that has blood flowing out of it like a river. My senses go on overdrive as I search the room for the unknown threat that
Jamari’s POV“I have brought you here to offer you a warning.” My body stiffens at Howard’s words as a feeling of dread settles in the pit of my stomach. Howard motions for me to take a seat on one of the couches in the sitting area, a serious look taking over his features as he follows me over and takes a seat on a couch that faces the one that I sat on. “I am not the only one on the council that feels that Lucern has made a mistake by taking you as his Queen.” Howard says, an apologetic look pulling at his features. “That was of course before I realized that you would be an asset to the Vampire Realm.” He says, earning a snort from me in response. “I know that does not mean much now, but I do hope you will give me the chance to earn your trust.” A gentle smile appears on Howard’s face as he looks over at me. Even after everything that has been said and done by him recently, I can feel deep in my bones that Howard is telling the truth and that he means me no harm. And if that wasn
Jamari’s POV“Some might call you foolish for letting Howard off so easily, my lady.” Nodding my head in agreement, I walk out of the door without looking around at the disapproving faces of the rest of Lucern’s council members. I had originally come in search of Lucern to see what had gotten him so upset all of a sudden, I was not expecting to walk into a council meeting that was about me. “She is right, my lady.” The sound of Howard’s unexpected voice pulls me out of my thoughts, startling me slightly as I jump in place, my hand moving up to grasp the base of my throat in order to calm my nerves. An apologetic look appears on Howard’s face as he moves off of the wall that he was reclining on. “I did not mean to startle you, my lady.” Howard stops his forward movement a few feet away from me, nervously moving from foot to foot as an internal struggle appears on his face. “What is it?” I ask him curiously. Something is clearly bothering the old Vampire and with the way things ended
Lucern’s POVSilence moves around the room as everyone thinks over Jamari’s question. Removal from the council has never happened before, not in a situation like this at least. There have been times in history where members were not rechosen for the role of council member, but no one has ever been removed mid-term like Jamari is suggesting. Council members, as well as other subjects, have been sentenced to death for less than what Howard has been accused of. Most rulers do not take too kindly to their subjects speaking ill of themselves or their mates. “You do not wish for Howard’s head, my lady?” Sabina asks, an intrigued look on her face. She leans forward in her seat and places her chin on the back of her joined hands. Her brow lifts in interest as she stares over at Jamari and waits for her response.I lean back in my seat and watch as Jamari squirms in her seat, uncomfortable as ever with being the center of attention. Her gaze moves over my council members until her eyes land
Lucern’s POV “Don’t do something you might regret for me, my King.” Jamari’s whispered words echo around in my head as I struggle to regain control over the bloodlust that had slowly taken control over my actions. It is not often that I allow myself to get so enraged that the bloodlust takes over, it was something that I learned to control at an early age. Adrian steps up to stand beside Jamari, amusement glinting in those eyes of his as he looks between the two of us. Whispers begin to fill the quiet space all around us, Jamari’s presence soothing the fear that had my council members as still as a statue only moments before. Jamari lifts up her right hand and places it on the arm that belongs to the hand that is still currently squeezing the life out of Howard. Disgust takes over my face as I retract my claws from his neck but do not release my hold from around his neck. Within seconds the deep gashes around his neck has healed enough to stop the flow of blood from continuing to
Lucern’s POV“Sire, when are we going to unlock the Vampire Realm? Many of our subjects are complaining about the lack of freedom, and the subjects that are trapped on the outside of the Vampire Realm are starting to get antsy.” The circle of my council of advisors nod their head in agreement at Rudolph’s claim. Count Adrian leans back in his seat, his eyes surveying the older men that sit around us in the conference room that is usually used for conducting business. “Would the people rather we come under attack?” Adrian asks, his brow lifting in challenge. The council at least has the decency to look embarrassed that they had forgotten about the threat. “Has the threat not been subdued?” One of the men speaks up, a glint of mischief blatantly clear in his eyes. Howard is the one council member that I would love to get rid of. He never misses an opportunity to cause issues for me within the Realm and I still have not figured out what his problem is with me. I am the rightful heir t
Jamari’s POV“Are you sure that this is a good idea?” Kenji asks the same question that has been asked a hundred times since I told my mates that we need to get into the Fae Realm. “What if us unlocking the Fae Realm is what sets the events that you saw into motion? We can’t be hasty with our decision making.” Kenji’s words make me pause my speed reading of the spell books that Lucern has available in his massive library. A frown scrunches up the corners of my eyes as my brows draw together in thought. My eyes move up to find Kenji’s worried gaze. “I have to be there for him Kenji.” Sorrow fills my words as I am once again reminded of the scene that I watched play out before my eyes. Lifting my head for the first time in an hour, I look around in search of my Demon King whom I have given strict orders not to leave my side until we know for sure that the vision of him dying in that clearly does not come to pass. “Where is Levi?” I ask, sniffing the air to see if I can catch his scent
