It was the day of the wedding and Hayley seemed like she was neutral about it. Every other person seemed to be more excited than she was. She was getting dressed in her room with the help of the maids that her elder sister had gotten her in preparation for the wedding.
“You look so beautiful, ma’am. The most beautiful of all brides. Mr. Stan is a really lucky man to be marrying a woman like you.” A young maid confessed with admiration in her eyes. The other maids just watched with smiling faces and murmured among themselves. Hayley could see them through the huge mirror on the wall she stood in front of. She could see the sincerity in the eyes of the young maid and this made her tear up a little.
“Oh what’s wrong, ma’am?” the young maid asked on seeing Hayley tearing up. “You’ll ruin your makeup.” The maid was worried. The others watched in surprise as Hayley reached for a tissue to wipe her tears.
<Raul slowly approached Hayley who was practically shaking in confusion and said, “It’s the truth, babe. I love you; I can’t control myself when I’m around you. Don’t you feel it too?” he paused and took her hands in his and pleaded. “Please don’t marry Stan. Marry me.”At this, Hayley’s eyes were wide open in shock. She never saw Raul as the type to want to be married someday for his lack of commitment in any relationship attitude. She stuttered. “You want me to marry you?”Raul went down on his knees and nodded. “I realize now that you’re the one for me. I’ve always had this odd feeling inside of me whenever I am far from you, but now I know that it’s love and I can’t wait to be the one you chose for a life partner. I chose you, Hayley for my mate. So, please be mine.”Hayley was still trying to pull herself together and think of a suitable re
Stan’s friends hesitated for a bit but then thought that it might be a good idea to let him be for a little while; to cry and let it out before they would have the chance to talk to him. So, they left him and went to meet the women who waited in anxiety.“He’ll be fine. He just needs time to get over all this.” One of his friends said with a sad look on his face.“Alright then.” The mayor began. “I’ll come to check up on him tomorrow.”“Yes ma’am. Thank you for bringing him in.” Stan’s friend appreciated her.“It’s no problem at all.” She replied. “So, take care of him and don’t hesitate to call me if you need anything.” She reached for her purse to get her card which she gave to him.He took it and smiled at the mayor. “I definitely will, ma’am.”She nodded in agreement and left.“I definitely will
Kara was silent. She knew it was a waste of time trying to convince Hayley so she exhaled and got on her feet.“If you have decided to stay then, I have nothing else to do here.”“Sister please…” Hayley ran to her. “Don’t hate me for this. I know that you and Raul don’t see eye to eye. I am sure that when you get to know him, you’ll find that he’s not a bad guy. He’s has a good heart and he really loves me which is why I have chosen to be with him. Please support my choice and trust my instincts.” She took her sister’s hands in hers and was suddenly taken aback. She gasped at what she saw. She saw her sister dying in a war and she could not stop it. She also saw the governor in his werewolf form and they were all fighting on Lucas's side with both Lucas and Collen leading the packs. She soon came alive to find Collen calling her.“Hey, babe! Are you alright?&
Raul was kissing her so passionately and Kara was filled with joy on seeing them. His friends also surrounded them to celebrate with them. The witch took her staff and made to leave when Kara approached her and offered her a check she just wrote.“Please take this as compensation for your hard work I am most grateful to you.”“Oh don’t worry about it. I don’t work for pay.” The witch replied. “You on the other hand, and I need to talk.”Kara gazed at her speechless. She wondered why the witch wanted to see her.“It’s important and it concerns your death; the one Hayley saw that has cost her this much pain.” The witch winked at her. “You know where to find me so see you soon.” She concluded and disappeared.Kara exhaled and turned to face the excited young ones. She smiled as her sister hugged her. she caressed her face and kissed her on the forehead. “I’
Ella got on her feet on seeing betty and Stan come out of the room together. She smiled in excitement at the duo feeling much better. She saw the look on Betty’s face and wondered if she had spilled the secret or not.“We’ll be leaving now,” Betty said to Ella who nodded in agreement. She waved at the guys and walked out. Then Betty turned to Stan and smiled.“It was a pleasure talking with you.” He admitted.“Same here.” She replied.“Come back anytime.” He added as she turned to leave. She turned around to gaze at him slowly. She never expected that he would want to see her again.“My home is open to you, anytime.” He concluded with a smile. She smiled at him and nodded in agreement. “I definitely will.” Then she left to meet Ella who was waiting outside for her.Betty was silent all through the ride. Ella was watching her study
Kara had returned to the city after paying a brief visit to the witch in her hut. She had gone alone after insisting to Tom and Heather that she would be returning to Wizzletown alone. She seized the opportunity to see the witch briefly in the forest since she now knew where and how to find her.She approached the witch’s hut and found her outside the house drinking from a bowl some soup she had prepared.“I knew you would come.” She remarked and sipped from her bowl without even gazing at Kara.Kara took a deep breath and approached her to take a seat beside her.The old witch moved aside for her and offered her the soup but Kara turned it down with a lovely smile shaking her head. The old witch smiled at her and continued with her drink.“It’s an old recipe used to keep the body’s immune system active even in old age.” The old witch explained.Kara gazed at her in silence. She was studying the old
“My name is Edna, ma’am.” She smiled wiggling her fingers nervously.Kara paused and swallowed hard. She felt that there was a reason she had thought of speaking to Edna so she asked. “Where are you from? Are your family here in Wizzletown?”“No ma’am. I am from another city in the West from this country. My family lives there but I came to Wizzletown in search of a better life since my family is poor and we can hardly afford to feed.”Kara listened carefully. Then the maid continued.“I met some guy who told me about an opportunity to make some money with some guys that called themselves the Scarecrows. He told me everything I wanted to hear and I was thrilled. He also mentioned that I was going to have to give up a lot and including my life to be able to enjoy those benefits. I didn’t care; all I wanted was to make money to feed my family back in my village. Little did I know that I was in for
The governor was surprised by what he was hearing. Edna gasped on seeing the expression on his face and quickly got on her feet. She thought that he was disappointed that she was sitting side by side with the mayor and was embarrassed.“You are welcome, sir.” She bowed slightly and made to leave but he called her back. She had her head bowed a little in shame.“It’s not what it seems, sir.” She began. “I can explain. The governor approached Kara slowly, his facial expressions still very unpleasant while Edna seized the opportunity to return to her duty post.“I think I better leave now. I’ll be downstairs if you need anything, ma’am.” She genuflected and left.Kara managed to raise her head to look into the governor’s eyes to try to study his expressions. “You really scared her and that was not necessary. She was only following my orders.”“I overheard
