Today is Wednesday, only two days until the final and the last day of this semester. It’s also a couple of months to Amelia’s wedding, and I’m trying to cram studying plus meetings with Amelia into my hectic schedule. Today she asked me to meet with her to look at gowns in her bridal magazines.
“Hey, Chloe. Do you have an extra pen I could use?” Maci asks, pulling me out of my thoughts.
“Sure,” I say, digging through my bag, pulling one out. “Here you go,” I smile, handing Maci the pen.
“Good morning, class!” Mr. Davis says. “Let’s get into today’s topic, shall we,” He suggests and begins telling us what to expect on the final and how much this final will impact our overall grade.
Maci turns to me with the excitement of gossip dancing in her eyes. “So, I saw that guy that was staring at you last week talking to you in the hall after class. What did he say?” she asks, nosey as ever.
“He asked me to go to coffee with him as friends,” I state so she wouldn’t pry.
“That’s cool,” she says with disappointment, then brings her attention back to the professor.
It was almost time to leave school when I got a text. “I saw you talking with a man at the coffee shop. You should stay away from other men. You don’t want to make me jealous!” the mysterious text read.
Worry and frustration coursed through my body as I replied. “Please leave me alone! Don’t text me again!” I responded and received a reply in moments.
“Oh, you got it all wrong gorgeous. You can’t get rid of me that easy,” they text back.
“I’m going to block you!” I quickly replied.
“If you ignore me, I will come after your family,” they threaten, causing me to cover my mouth to mute my gasp.
“Chloe? What’s wrong?” Maci asks with concern.
Not answering her question I only say. “I have to go,” and get up, leaving the room to hurry to my car. I can’t help but look behind me as I walk.
Opening my car door, I push the lock button down as soon as I’m seated and start driving away. I immediately called Amalia, shaking.
Amelia’s phone rang a couple of times before she answered. “Hey, you,” she says, sounding cheerful like always.
“Amelia? where are you?” I ask frantically.
“I’m at the packhouse about to leave for our meeting. Why? Are you OK? You sound upset,” she asks, noticing my unusual tone.
“I am! Someone is threatening me,” I say with my voice cracking.
Malachi
Paul and I are going over some papers in my office, with Amelia sitting on the couch looking through some magazines. Suddenly, her phone rings, breaking the silence, but I think nothing of it.
“Hey, you,” she greets cheerfully. “I’m at the packhouse about to leave for our meeting. Why? are you okay? You sound upset.” she says, and I look Amelia’s way wondering who she could be talking to. I know it’s none of my concern, but what if it’s Chloe? Why would she be upset?
I notice Amelia’s eyes widen in surprise. “What?” Amelia says frantically. I turn to her, and Paul is curious too.
“Amelia, who is that? Is everything OK?” Paul questions, and I find myself interested in her answer.
“It’s Chloe. someone is threatening her,” she says with concern.
I feel anger rise in me at her words. “Who is threatening, Chloe?” I demand in my Alpha voice. “I will take him out right now,” I growl, furious.
Amelia looks at me, and I can tell she’s not sure how to answer. “Chloe, do you know who is threatening you,” She asks and pauses, listening to the answer.
Amelia looks back at me, and I can tell the answer isn’t what I want to hear. “She says that it’s an unknown number texting her. They’re saying they will hurt her family if she ignores them,” she answers.
“Tell her to come here. We can protect her,” I say, watching her nod.
“Chloe, come here, so you’re not alone,” Amelia relays my message, and I see her posture shift to one of relief. “OK, I’ll see you soon,” Amelia declares, and I can feel my chest fill with anticipation at the news.
Chloe
I knew when I called Amelia; she would ask me questions. “Chloe, do you know who it is?” She asks and I wish I had the answer.
“No, they’re texting me from an unknown number and says if I ignore them, they’ll come after my family. I’m scared, Amelia,” I say frantically, fighting back the tears that are threatening to spill from my eyes.
“Chloe come here so you’re not alone,” Amelia suggests, and I know I’d be the safest with her.
“Okay, I’m driving now. I’ll be there soon.” I inform her, taking the turn that leads to the packhouse.
“I’ll see you soon,” Amelia says then I hang up.
I pull into the packhouse and see Amelia standing at the door waiting for me. When I park, she meets me at my door, so I don’t have to walk alone. She would do anything to protect me. She opens my door and wraps her arm around me, and I immediately feel safe.
“Come in. I’ll get you something hot to drink.” She says, her voice soft with comfort.
“Thanks,” I say breathlessly shaking from the cold.
She guides me to the kitchen where I sit at the island, watching her grab some hot chocolate from the cupboard. She places a pan with milk on the stove, and lights it before turning to me “I’m sorry this is happening to you,” Her expression soft and caring.
Once again, I fight back the tears and force the fear away, but I must be honest with her. “I’m scared to go home. What do I do?” I ask, desperately.
“You can stay with Paul and me. You shouldn’t be alone.” She insists.
“You have so much going on with your wedding. I don’t want to impose on you two,” I mumble.
“You wouldn’t be imposing. You’re my best friend. I would never leave you when you need me, and we can push the wedding back until we resolve this.” She suggests, causing me to shake my head at her words.
“Amelia, I can’t let you do that,” I say, carefully taking the hot mug she’s handing me. I take a sip, enjoying the warmth spreading throughout my chest.
“There is a guest room here at the packhouse. I’m sure you could stay here until we figure things out. This way, you’re always protected,” she mentions.
“I’ll consider it,” I mumble, taking another sip. “Where is Paul?” I ask.
“They are in Malachi’s office working on some things for the packhouse meeting tomorrow,” she explains, nodding for me to follow her.
We walked to the living area, where there is a fireplace burning. I sit in a big chair close to the fire while Amelia sits on the couch.
Shortly after, Paul walks in and kisses her forehead before taking the spot next to her. They are so cute together. I think to myself, genuinely happy for my friend.
“Hey, Chloe,” Paul says, looking in my direction.
“Hi Paul, I’m sorry to interrupt your plans,” I say meekly.
“Never be sorry for that,” Amelia says, looking at me with comfort and understanding in her eyes.
“What would I do without you?” I say, heartfelt.
“I love you, Chloe, and I will always protect you, and so will the whole pack, your family,” she tells me with a smile.
What she says hits me hard. I can no longer hold back the tears, and I start to cry. “That means so much to me, Amelia,” I say with my voice cracking. In a failed attempt to wipe my tears, I notice black streaks on the back of my hand. “I need to fix my mascara. It’s smudged. Can I use the bathroom?” I ask.
“Yeah, it’s down the hall to the left,” Paul directs me.
“Thanks,” I say gratefully then stand and head down the hall. When I turn left, I run right into someone...
I scream and lose my balance and almost fall on my face, but strong arms grab my waist. They’ve easily caught me and placed me back on my feet. I look up to find Malachi’s sexy face looking at me. “Thank you!” I say gratefully while I find myself becoming lost in his eyes as if I’m in a trance. “I’ve got you. I’d never let you fall,” he said with a smile. “Why are you so sweet to me?” I ask, utterly confused as to why he’d go out of his way to show kindness to a mere human. “Because you are going to be my Luna,” He answered with a smirk. “Luna? What is that?” I question. “For having a best friend who is a wolf, you know nothing of our kind, huh?” He asked and I shook my head in return. “You will find out soon enough,” He says, rubbing his thumb along my lower lip. After a moment of simply staring at him, he brushes his hand softly against my face. “Why were you crying, Luna?” He questions with a look of concern. “It’s nothing,” I say as I look away in shame. “If you’re crying, i
I storm off to the kitchen so I can grab my things and leave. I already knew Amelia wasn't far behind me. "Chloe, stop! Where are you going? Don't leave, that guy is still out there. It's not safe," she says, trying to convince me to stay. "I'd instead take my chances with a crazy stalker guy than someone that thinks he owns me," I declare, grabbing my keys from the counter. "Please stay, I'll take you to your room. I'm sorry I asked you to do the dare. I knew what was going to happen," she admits shamefully. "How did you know he would do that?" I ask curiously and wait for her answer. "He’s an Alpha. It's in his blood. He won't let any man ever look at you in that way," she says, but it only confuses me more. "But why does he act like this with me?" I ask, finally manning up and demanding answers. “And why does he call me Luna? What does that even mean?" I ask, becoming frustrated. "Let's go to the room so we can talk, ok." She insists and by the look in her eyes I know she’s re
My cheeks blush as I watch Malachi pull himself to a sitting position, looking at me with worry. I can tell the surprise of it being my first time is getting to him, but I'm not sure why. Then he starts laughing. "Chloe, I'm just kidding. I knew from the beginning you were a virgin. You are very tight" He says, still laughing. I give him a look of annoyance. Then slap his shoulder. "jerk" I retort, looking at the ceiling when Malachi pulls me on top of him. My legs straddle him while I take the time to admire his features. He raises his hand to gently brush my hair out of my face. "You're so beautiful," He says, pulling me down to him to kiss his lip softly. He trails his hands down my arms, and my body heat soars. I also feel him getting hard again. Malachi switches our positions, so he is hovering above me, but not quite resting his full weight against me. Both of his arms support him on each side of me and I take this opportunity to drag my own down his shoulders to his elbow
I'm in shock and not sure what to say. My niece Kali just told me she is pregnant. I pull over, so I'm not distracted and crash. "Kali! How far along are you?" I ask. "You know you have to tell your mother," I state, not liking the idea of keeping such a big secret from Marley. "I'm three months, and I can't tell mom she is going to freak. What if she kicks me out? What would I do alone with a baby at 16?" She cries and my heart goes out to her, but I know my sister. "Even if she did kick you out, I wouldn’t let you have nowhere to go. Of course, your mom will be upset because you're so young, but she will come around. It's her grandchild," I assure Kali. "Oh, Aunt Chloe, I'm so scared when I told my boyfriend he told me to get rid of the baby, but I can't. What am I going to do? My life is over. I know I was stupid and should have used protection, but its already done, and I can't give up my baby," she cries, devastated. "Everything will be okay, Kali I'm here for you, and your mom
On our way to the club, Amelia picked up some of the other girls from her pack. Once we arrive at Club Sensations, we get out and walk to the entrance. I can already see there is a massive line around the block. "Oh, wow. Will we even be able to get in?" I ask, eyeing all the people waiting. "Hell yeah, we are. I know the bouncer," Amelia's friend says from behind me as we approach the door. The bouncerimmediately recognizes Amelia’s friend and lets us enter no questions asked. "Enjoy your night, ladies," the bouncer says with a wink. We walk into the club and it’s completely dark, except for the flashing strobe lights. I can see people dancing and grabbing drinks at the bar and across from where we stand is a cage with ladies dancing inside. "This is amazing!” I yell over the music. Amelia looks at me with a smile. "Let's get drinks, girls!" she announces, making her way to the bar. Her friend next to me yells, "woohoo," all hyped up and I can already tell this is going to be a
I wake up in Malachi's arms. He held me all night and didn't even try anything because of what happened with William. I turn and see Malachi still fast asleep. ‘He is so adorable.’ I think, admiring his features. I don't want to wake him, so I get up slowly. I’m wearing some of his clothes he gave me last night to sleep in, but I don't change. I walk through the door to go to the kitchen for some coffee. As I’m walking down the stairs, I hear laughter from the kitchen and as I enter, I look around to find Amelia and Paul. They turn my way. "Good morning, Chloe," Amelia says, smiling. "Good morning you two love birds," I say. "Chloe, I'm sorry about last night," Amelia tells me. "Amelia, don't apologize; none of this was your fault. William was a psychopath, and he would have found me somehow," I say, grabbing Amelia's hand to squeeze it. "I love you, Chloe. I was supposed to be protecting you, and I failed," she says with a tear running down her cheek as her head hangs with gui
I am looking at Amelia with worry all over my face. "Oh no, Kali is going to see" is all I could say. I rushed out the door, running down the stairs as fast I could to reach the tv. In front of the flat screen, I see his picture with a headline of “Body found at Club Sensations is that of William Sanders”. "The victim, William Sanders, was originally from New York and was here in Aberdeen attending classes at Forest Hills College. He was only 21 years old." The news anchor explains. Tears fill my eyes as I think about my niece raising her child alone. Amelia walks up to me to put her arms around me to console me. "Chloe, he was a bad guy. Kali is better off without him in her life," she tells me. "Still, he was the father of her child, and I took that away from her." I cry, falling to the floor, sobbing. Amelia brings herself down as well, holding me in her arms. "It's not your fault, Chloe,” she claims. Malachi walks down the stairs, and I look up at him. "Why did you kill him,
I just learned that Malachi has a brother, and he doesn't seem happy about him being here. ‘What could have happened between them to make him feel this much anger at seeing him?’ I wonder, glancing between Malachi and his brother. "What's going on, Malachi," I ask. He looks at me, finally taking his gaze from his brother. "Let's just say, he is bad news," he vaguely answers. "What happened to you two?" I question further, but he doesn't answer; only stares at the man that is now coming towards us. "Malachi, it's been many years, brother," The man says, then turns his eyes to me. "Who is this beautiful creature?" He asks. Malachi wraps his arm around my waist and moves me behind him. "She is none of your business," He snarls. Not liking his answer, I move from behind him to speak. "I am Chloe," I announce, holding out my hand to shake his. He takes my hand and kisses the top softly. “A pleasure to meet you, Chloe,” he says in almost a whisper. "Alaric, keep your hands off her.
