We arrived at the dining room and she stopped. She told me to enter and she would wait outside for me. I was nervous, but I needed to push it down. I inhaled and exhaled, calming myself and composing myself. I didn’t need him to sense how scared and worried I was. I needed to be calm and collected. I turned the knob and walked in. The dining room was big. The walls were white and had two paintings hung on either side of the wall. At the far end of the room, was a long wooden table. He sat at the end of the table, a glass in his hand. He had his sleeves rolled up and his shirt was unbuttoned a little, revealing the tattoo on his chest and arm. He didn't look like he was in a good mood, by the looks on his face. I cleared my throat and he raised his gaze. A smile replaced his frown as he saw me. He stood up, his eyes roaming over my body, taking in the sight of me. He was speechless, and it made me feel like the most beautiful woman in the world. I smiled, walking closer and he pulled out the chair beside him. He placed a kiss on my cheek and the touch was electrifying. He whispered a greeting in my ear and my entire body shivered. I didn’t know why the effect he had on me was so intense. I could feel my skin heating up and goosebumps forming. He chuckled, knowing what he was doing to me and took his seat. He poured some red wine into the empty glass, in front of me and sat down. "You look absolutely breathtaking. That dress was made for you." He commented and I couldn't stop the smile that made its way onto my face. My earlier worries instantly washing away. This man that I had only met for one day has managed to get into my head and mess with my senses. Is this how mates feel? "Thank you. You look quite handsome yourself." I complimented him and he smiled. "Dinner would be served soon." He informed me and I nodded, taking a sip from my glass. There was an awkward silence and I didn't know how to fill the silence. "How was your day, my love?" He asked, breaking the silence. I looked at him and shrugged. "I don't know. You tell me. I had no idea where I was and what was happening." He frowned. "Are you not happy here, sweetheart?" I could sense the sadness in his voice and I immediately shook my head. "No, no. Of course not. It's not that." He was about to speak when the doors opened and Eliza walked in, pushing a cart, carrying our food. I had to admit, the food smelled heavenly. My stomach grumbled in response, causing Markov to chuckle. I blushed, covering my face, embarrassed that he heard it. "Don't be shy, sweetheart. I was hoping you were hungry. I prepared the best meal just for you." He whispered, pulling my hands away from my face and leaning in to plant a kiss on my lips. My heart was beating fast. His touch was enough to make me weak in the knees. Were we going too fast? The kiss felt right but wrong at the same time? And then I realized that I don’t know shit about the man sitting in front of me, while he knew everything about me. Was this why I felt like things were moving too fast? "Markov..." I called out. "Yes, baby?" "How do you know everything about me, but I know nothing about you?" "It is for your own safety, sweetheart." He replied immediately, looking at me. I was confused by his words, "What does that mean?" "We will talk later. For now, let's enjoy dinner, yes?" He turned back to his meal, not taking my question as seriously as I wanted him to. I wasn't satisfied with his reply, but decided to let it go and enjoy the dinner. We enjoyed the dinner, and talked, getting to know each other. He was very interesting and I couldn’t help, but to want to know more. "You are quite the talkative one." He said, chuckling. "Only because you are an interesting person, Markov." "Is that a good thing or bad?" He asked, placing a spoonful of food into his mouth. "Definitely a good thing." "Well, if it's a good thing, then I have to do something about it, huh?" He teased, smiling. We continued talking and the more I got to know him, the more I liked him. He was very humble and he had a great personality. When he talked, I could tell he was sincere and his heart was full of love. "What are your plans for tomorrow, Markov?" I asked, genuinely interested. "I have a business trip, and I will be out of town for two days." He informed me. "Two days?" I asked, a bit disappointed. I hated the fact that he had to leave, but I couldn't stop him. I didn't know anything about the pack, or his business, so I was at a loss. "Don't be sad, my love. It will only be for two days and I promise I will be back sooner than you know." He said, reaching for my hand and intertwining our fingers together. I wanted to believe him, and the words made me a bit better. After dinner, he insisted that he would walk me back to my room. I tried to refuse, saying he should get some rest since he was leaving the next morning, but he wouldn't take no for an answer. So, there we were, walking to the room, his arm draped across my shoulders and my hands wrapped around his waist. "How was the tour with Eliza?" He asked and I shrugged. "It was fine, I guess." I said and he could sense the sadness in my tone. Was this the right time to bring up the sculpture I saw? I decided to let it be for now. "Are you sad I'm leaving?" "You're my mate, Markov. I've only just found you and now you have to leave. It's only natural for me to be sad." I said. "I'll only be gone for two days, sweetheart. You won't even know I'm gone." He joked and I rolled my eyes. "That's impossible, and you know it." "You'll miss me?" "Of course." "I'll miss you too, sweetheart. Don't worry. I will be back before you know it. I promise." He stopped and turned to me. He lifted my chin with his index finger, raising my head and looking into my eyes. "I promise." He repeated, before crashing his lips onto mine. The kiss was passionate. I could feel every ounce of his love. Every second that passed, the more I wanted him. His scent. His touch. His kisses. I wanted it all. But, the rational part of me knew this was too soon. I barely even knew him. So, with all the self-control I had, I pulled away, gasping for air. His lips moved down my neck and he nipped at the exposed skin. "We shouldn't..." I whispered. "Shh. Just one more, please." He pleaded, his hot breath on my neck, making my entire body shudder. And before I could say anything else, he claimed my lips again. This time, it was more forceful. He bit on my lower lip, tugging it. His grip on me was inhumane, just how much strength does this man have? I didn't know how long the kiss lasted, but I was thankful that we were the only ones there. When he finally pulled away, I could feel my legs wobbling. He gave me a smile, and pulled me close to him, before resuming our walk. We reached the room and he opened the door, walking me inside. I was exhausted. Not from the walk. But, from the kiss. He left an impact on me. An unforgettable impression. A mark on me that will forever be imprinted on my soul. He had left a trail of kisses that left my body aching for him. My lips were swollen and tingling from the kiss we shared. What did he want from me? Was this really love or was it lust? "Are you tired?" He asked and I simply nodded. "You can leave if you want. I think I'm just going to get some sleep." He stared at me for a minute and nodded. "Okay. Well, good night, sweetheart. I'll see you in the morning, okay?" He said, planting a kiss on my forehead and pulling away. I smiled and watched as he walked towards the door. "Good night, Markov." He walked out and the moment the door closed, I ran to the bathroom. I couldn't believe what I had just done. I could have stopped him. Why didn't I?J A D ETwo days passed by in a blur and still there was no sign of Markov. It was too lonely in here and if I wasn’t talking to Eliza, I was in my room sleeping. At one point, it got tiring.I decided to do something different today. Back in the Silvermoon pack, I was never given the privilege of having a TV or even anything close to that.My room was a small storage room with a bed that hurts like a bitch and a small window for air. Ever since my parents death, I had slept in that room and I couldn’t even complain unless I wanted my head chopped off.Not wanting to reminisce about the past, I got off my bed and walked down the stairs. The living room was empty, but I could hear clattering of plates in the kitchen. The maids were probably there, preparing dinner.I took a seat on the soft leather sofa, and took the remote, turning on the TV. It felt strange to be doing this, and I was surprised I could even operate a remote. Just how much of my life have I missed out on?I’ve lived a
J A D EA blue colored bird that looked beautiful. It was the prettiest creature I have ever seen."I found it near the park, and thought of you," He said.I was overwhelmed by his generosity. The last gift I got was from my mom.It was a silver necklace with a wolf pendant, and I still had it, it was my only reminder of her. "Thank you, I love it. Do you think I can name it?""Sure.""Hmm, let me think. Bluey! Yes, that's a perfect name. Look at his blue wings, it's the same color as his body. Don't you think it's pretty?""Yeah, just like you.""Oh, hush. Come on, Bluey, let's play together. I can't wait for you to meet Eliza. She's the sweetest girl ever. You guys would be best friends.""Do you have any pets, little wolf?""No. My old alpha would never allow it. But, I have a secret friend.""Is that so?" I could detect the anger in his voice even if he tried to hide it. There was a slight growl, and his eyes darkened."Yup. He's a rabbit and his name is Jack. He's white and has
J A D E I was sitting in my room, reading a book while Bluey was in his cage, sleeping soundly. The next morning, Markov brought a huge cage and all the bird necessities. He was surprised that Bluey was already eating fruit from my hand, but I told him it was because I was feeding him the first day."What are you doing in here? Why aren't you with your friends?" I asked, closing my book and looking at Eliza. She was wearing a pair of black leggings and a crop top. Her long, blond hair was braided into two braids. She had her usual black eyeliner on and a small amount of makeup. She was dressed ready to go outside."I came to see if you wanted to join us. We're going to the clubhouse. We have a bar and a pool table. You'll like it." She offered."Really? You're inviting me out with you?""Yeah, you've been locked in this room for too long. Plus, Markov won't stop talking about you, so this will shut him up for a bit," she said, making me laugh."You're not going to tell me that I'm no
J A D EI haven’t seen or spoken to Markov in a week, he has been avoiding me, and I have been locked in the bedroom since that night.A few nights ago, I was walking around the house, and I saw Markov. He was sitting at the dining table, staring at the wall.I was about to say something, but he raised his hand and pointed at the stairs, signaling me to leave.I could sense his anger, and I didn't want to push him. I didn’t understand why he was angry at me for what happened that night. Or was he angry at himself for letting me see that side of him?I came down the stairs to have a glass of milk as I couldn’t sleep. It was currently 12 in the midnight and I was shocked to find Markov sitting on the kitchen counter, downing a whole bottle of alcohol down his throat.I cleared my throat, making my presence known. He didn't look up or acknowledge me, he simply kept on drinking."Markov, we need to talk," I said, in a stern voice."There is nothing to talk about. Go back to bed," He repli
M A R K O V“You did what?” Tristin asked, staring at me wide eyed.I looked away from him. “I did what I had to do. I couldn’t allow her to know my true identity this soon.” I said, already knowing the judgment that would come after. “So, using powers to bind her wolf was the best option? You know this will only cause more harm than good? The girl will only get weaker and weaker as the day goes by! That is so stupid, Markov. You have no idea what you have done! What if you killed her wolf?! What would you have done then?! Huh?!”I growled, feeling my inner beast growling in rage. "How dare you question my decisions?!" I shouted.Tristin growled back, his eyes glowing. "How dare you treat her like a slave?! How can you be so heartless?! This isn’t you, Alpha. The plan was you gaining back your sense of humanity once you find her, but it looks like you're falling deeper and deeper into the abyss of madness!""Watch your tongue, Tristin, or I will have it ripped out.""Go ahead. Rip it
J A D EI was staring up at the ceiling, wondering what was going on with my life. How had I ended up here? From escaping the clutches of Alpha Dane and Mason into the arms of my mate. But, why did it feel so wrong? What was going on with me? Why was my wolf silent? Why was my human side silent? Was this the effect of having a mate bond?My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of a knock on the door."Who is it?" I asked, sitting up and turning my attention towards the door."It's me. Can I come in?" Markov's voice came from the other side of the door.My heart skipped and before I could even respond, he already let himself in. He was putting on a white shirt while walking inside my room. He was dressed in his usual black jeans and black t-shirt.He smiled at me and I looked away, unable to hold his gaze. "Are you alright?" He asked, coming to stand beside my bed."Yes, I'm fine.""I'm glad. I wanted to apologize for the way I acted last night. It wasn't right. You didn't deserve i
J A D E“Have you picked out an outfit for the ball? You need to see my dress! I’m so obsessed with it.” Ava gushed, walking into her closet.I had been bored out of my mind in Markov’s house and decided to step out to meet the girls. Eliza had some errands to run so I was currently at Ava’s.“Ball?” I called out, confusion lacing my voice.“Yes, durhh!” Then she peeped from the closet. “Don’t tell me you don’t know about the ball?” She asked, staring at me wide eyed.I slowly shook my head and she looked at me in horror. She ran out of her closet and stood in front of me, searching my eyes. “You’re kidding, right?” She asked again.“No, I’m not. I was never informed about any ball. Nobody ever mentioned a word to me. Not even Markov, but maybe he did and I just forgot. What ball is this, anyway?” I wasn’t really interested in it. I had basically lost interest in everything since Markov’s incident. I just wanted to escape this reality.Ava took a step back. She looked stunned. Her jaw
J A D EAs we sat in the living room, I noticed Tristin and Ava constantly looking at me. They kept exchanging looks, and I knew something was up. They were discussing something but kept quiet."Okay, what's wrong?" I asked, annoyed."What?" Ava replied, faking innocence."You two have been acting weird for the past hour. What's going on? Just spill it."They exchanged a look again. Tristin cleared his throat and turned to me."Uhh, Markov asked me to drop you off at the Alpha house. He said he had some work to finish and won't be home until late tonight. So, you have to go back and stay there.""Why can’t he come here to pick me up himself when he’s done? It’s better than being all alone in the house. I don’t understand. What work is so important that he couldn’t make time for me? We've barely talked. I want to spend some time with him. He's been distant since that day at the bar, and I want to know why."They didn't say anything.I knew they were hiding something from me, but they w
