Only minutes later, I was sat in a silent cell with no source of light other than a burning torch on the wall of the hallway. The back and side walls were constructed from sturdy stone whilst the front was cage-like metal bars with a padlocked and chained door. On the other side of the bars was a singular guard stood up straight and staring straight forward.
"So what did my mate do to you?" I asked him hours later when I was at a point of boredom in which I was willing to talk about anything that would entice him into speaking. The other cells around me were empty meaning he was my only company.
Max's Point of View"I have a lead," I announced marching into the Alpha's office at the base and slamming an envelope down on his desk. His head, which had been staring down at the same set of papers and photos that had been there all day, suddenly shot up to reveal a set of agitated but tired eyes.
"Urghh."I opened my eyes to see the straw of the cell and groaned at how much everything ached from sleeping on such a hard floor. The ball had gone on until way beyond midnight and I had spent the majority of those hours dancing with the King. Obviously, it was he that had insisted on it and I that had been forced to begrudgingly go along with it.
The room Connor had locked me in was small and from the view from the tiny window, I could tell it was very high up. There was no furniture, only a few wooden boxes covered with white sheets.About twenty minutes later, I could hear violence unfold outside. Roars and shouts and cries. My hands were shaking for my pack's sake and everyone in it I loved that I knew would be fighting. Leo, Luca, Blair, Max, Mateo, Marco, Carlos, Lenny. Even Antonio but most of all Leo. And for my Dad and brother that I had only just be reunited with too.
"Leo please," I begged after we had finally got out of the castle through some back tunnel route and. We'd walked through the forest for a bit and then reached a single truck where Max had been waiting for us. He lifted me onto the passenger seat of then truck and crouched down to my level. "You can save him. I know that he tried to kill you but you tried to kill my Dad.""How do you know about that?" he asked his eyes flickering with shock.
I soon reached the battlefield. Stella was clearly close to winning. There were few King's men left alive most of which were fleeing into the trees. The medics had also been sent out to tend to injured Stella soldiers and many were checking the bodies of King's men ensuring they weren't still alive.I scanned the area for Connor hopefully before any Stellas saw me and tried to drag me away. After tuning my ears, I heard him. An in pained groan coming from not too far away. My heart began to pump as I searched through the remaining soldier
When we arrived at the castle gates, Luca ordered two guards to collect Connor's body before carrying me upstairs to an empty room. He told me that because of the long journey back, the lateness of the day and the exhaustion of the army, that we would be staying in the castle until the next morning before going home.He lit the fire, fetched me some blankets which he proceeded to wrap me in, made me a cup of hot cocoa and most importantly, kept me company. We didn't speak much but he was willing to sit with me regardless. I couldn't bear to be
When I had stopped myself crying once again, I left the room, closed the door behind me and dragged myself through the castle with little motivation to do anything.A few doors down from Connor's room was a group of soldiers. It wasn't until I got further down the hall that I realised who was talking to them.My mate
"When are we leaving?" I asked."About fifteen minutes," he replied pulling a bottle from the truck he had been loading."How long is the journey?"
