Twelve hours later,The next time I woke, I was in an unfamiliar room, by a roaring fire, smothered in blankets and in layers and layers of dry, warm clothes. I blinked my eyes open slowly and as my vision cleared, I saw Leo sat with his head in his hands on a hard wooden stool only a metre away.

Six hours later,I sat between Max and Leo with my head resting on Leo's shoulder as we drove. Their shoulders were kind of encroaching into my space and I've seen bigger cars in my life but it was warm and snuggly. At some point, I must have dropped off because when I woke up we were no longer in a mountain range but amongst the tall trees of a forest.

13 hours later,I next woke to the sound of a beeping machine and the sanitary smell of hospitals. I could feel a dull ache in my stomach but more worryingly a sharp, stabbing pain in my uterus. I looked around the room to find it empty. Soon after, the door opened and Leo entered with a cup of coffee in his hand. He wore a weary, drained expression on his face and his eyes were red and puffy.

A day later,We arrived safe and sound back in Stella territory. Leo wanted me to stay in the hospital in the Russian pack for longer but I insisted that we made it back for Silas's birthday. I wasn't willing to miss any more of my children's life than I already had. When he was finished with his little rendezvous with the nurse, Max was also eager to get back to his family- to be specific, his sister.
