I stared at the shattered remnants of our lives, pieces of the past scattered around me like debris after a storm. Everything had spiraled out of control, faster than I ever could have predicted. The tension in the air was almost suffocating, like the calm before a violent storm. There was no denying it—the darkness that had haunted us had returned. But now, it wasn’t just lurking in the shadows. It was a part of us, wrapped tightly around Fiona and me, pulling us deeper into its sinister web.

I could still feel the echo of the shadow's attack, its cold grip tightening around my mind. It hadn’t just been an external force—no, something had reached deep into both of us, leaving a scar that wouldn’t fade. And while Fiona had been the primary target, I felt every bit of it. I had failed to protect her. The thought gnawed at me, feeding the anger that simmered just below the surface.
