My wolf beast growled within me even though Jaxon hasn't gotten any of the needed information across to me.

My eyes stayed glued to Jaxon’s blank face and I tried all I could to mirror his expression as the elders stared at me, observing me.

I cleared my throat and ordered the Elders to leave the hall. I added that they should send any complaint to my office and I would attend to it later. Without thinking twice, I strolled to the exit door that led to the inner part of my mansion.

Jaxon followed behind me and as soon as we left the hall, I asked him, “What happened with Zadie?”

My voice carried the urgency and the sadness my soul held onto.

My Beta muttered without meeting my gaze, “Alpha King, Chloe just forced her way into my mind, and she--”

I did tell Jaxon to stop communicating with Chloe because I didn't want him to mindlessly tell her about the situation. It was hard to keep secrets between mates that have marked themselves. It was harder to make him stop
