ZADIE WILSON
My eyes found his face as I awaited his response. I understood that I was rushing the process, acting desperate and too forward but I didn't expect a man like Ayden to react the way he did to my request.
He blushed.
His toned skin couldn't hide the redness of his cheeks when he blushed and he appeared even more attractive to me. The proximity was messing with my mind and I forget about my fear when he blushed and just stared at me…
I wondered what he must be thinking. Perhaps he thought I was a wayward female. I felt the need to explain to him and did dese the dominating emotions swiveling around us both. I wasn't used to being this close to a male.
“I need the mark to tell my family that I have a mate. They will need evidence.”
I uttered shyly yet nervously. The marking process was supposed to be sacred if it was happening between true mates or lovers but in my case, it was more of a necessity.
“It might seem to you like I am in a rush but I have explanations and I don’t want-”
“Okay. I will mark you.”
Ayden interrupted. Although he gave me a favorable answer, my eyebrows furrowed. it was obvious that he was also reluctant. I was desperate for a man but I was terrified of what would happen if I push things too much. What would happen if I forced him to mark me?
I will have to cross that bridge when I get there.
“You can place the mark here.” I didn't ask Ayden where he would want the mark of mates to be before stretching out my hand to him.
Every male wolf can mark a female male and claim her as a mate by biting her frost. After the marking process, a moon shape mark would appear on the bite. The moon shape is usually designed naturally to show the characteristic of the mates.
Some females have dark moon shapes as their marks. Others have a blue moon. It coils be called a natural tattoo. The rarest shape is that of the crescent moon. According to werewolf history, only five sets of mates had been able to get the crescent shape mating marks.
I wasn't expecting much from my mark because there was nothing special between Ayden and me. We were just getting g married to help each other…. Wait a sec, I still didn't know why he was getting married to me and not waiting for his mate.
Regardless of our individual reasons and perspectives, Ayden moved even closer to me and stretched his hand to take mine but he stopped all of a sudden after making me believe that he was about to mark me and save me from Alpha Calvin’s selfish plans.
“I will mark you but on one condition.” He announced and his hazel eyes held his seriousness.
“Do tell.” I urged. What was the worse he could come up with?
“You have to accept that this relationship will be fake even after I mark you.”
I honestly didn't know how to feel about that. Ayden was confusing me. One minute he was asking me if I would still want to marry him because once he marked me there would be no turning back and now, he was talking about faking the relationship.
Yes, the bond we were trying to create was fake and would always be fake but why… who was I kidding? He was clearly mating with me because he wanted to please Regina. What was I expecting?
After witnessing the failed marriage between my sister and her fated mate, Alpha Clavin, I wasn't expecting a beautiful relationship with a stranger. I wasn’t expecting marriage at all s we might as well fake it and help each other escape external pressure.
“That is a term I can agree with, Ayden. It wouldn't be a problem.”
I affirmed. We weren't mates after all. Before returning my gaze to that of Ayden, I quickly added another condition that would favor us both.
“Also, I am willing to have the mark removed when you find your true mate and want to be with her. I know that our fake bond will be a hindrance and I will agree to break it when that time comes in the future.”
As I finished saying that, my eyes met with Ayden's hazel ones. They became clouded with an emotion I couldn't pinpoint since it was only there momentarily. Ayden didn't say anything to what I had said. He simply nodded and approached me… as if we weren't close enough for him to bite the back of my hand.
To my surprise, Ayden didn't take my hand. His face moved to my neck confidently and I didn't stop him.
“Placing a mark on your neck would make this whole charade more believable, don't you think, Zadie?”
Ayden whispered to me, his breath fanning the naked and sensitive skin of my neck as he placed his hands on the wall, holding me in place and invading me completely. That was when my nostrils finally picked Ayden’s masculine scent.
I withered due to the dominating scent he was releasing as he brushed my dirty blond hair to the side, giving himself free access to my neck.
“Answer me, Zadie.”
He pressed, calling my name again. The tone and his actions had made me forget the question he asked me but I murmured “Yes”. that simple word was drawled just as my fingers clenched the material of my dress.
I was nervous and he was making the process longer than necessary. If I didn't know better, I would think we were fated mates. My heart beat faster than normal and my face heated up unnaturally as I waited for the sting to come.
“Could he also feel this…”
I was thinking to myself but the anticipated sting happened at that moment. Ayden finally bit me, claiming me and sharing a part of himself with me just like every other male wolf does with their mate. The pain that came with the sting soon faded and never had I ever felt this complete.
Ayden raised his head from the base of my neck and brought his face close to mine. The newly formed bond between us was more prominent than I thought it would be. Ayden tongue ran over his lips as he licked the smear of blood on them.
When my eyes met him again, I realized that he wasn't himself. His eyes were changing from his natural hazel colors to darker ones. He was struggling to control himself but he was failing.
The mate bond was pushing him to me and his body pressed mine into the wall. I had to stop him by pushing him away. I did try to be gentle but a hard push was needed to move a strong male like Ayden. His arms were rock hard when I touched them and he hissed when my hands made contact with his skin.
The push got him back to his senses but he seemed to be in a bad mood after that and he put some distance between us. My body ached to be close to him again but I stayed put.
“I’m sorry for pushing you like that. I just thought it would be best for our arrangement if we stopped.”
I apologized for pushing him as he breathed in and out to get himself under control. To make things easier for him and me, I decided t change the topic even though all I felt like doing was screaming at the top of my lungs and celebrating escaping Alpha Calvin’s plans.
“I will like to invite you to a banquet that would be held in my pack later in the evening, Ayden if that isn't too much for you.”
The plan was to rub my success on Alpha Calvin’s face. Let's see how he would make me the Alpha King’s chosen whore when I already had a mate.
However, Ayden’s response didn't collate with my plan. “No. I can’t accept your invitation.”
He refused the invitation emotionlessly and he added, “Move into my home, later. We can talk more when you move in.”
Yes! Yes!
I would love to move in right now but before I could reply, Ayden turned his back to me and left my diner without another word. I watch his back disappear and when I couldn't see him anymore, my body, heart, and soul began to cry for his presence.
Newly marked female werewolves are usually dependent on their man but I couldn't enjoy that… obviously.
Aside from the emptiness that the mate bond had created within me and my fear of what the future held for this bond, I was sort of happy. I was relieved that I succeeded despite all odds. I had to thank Regina for bringing Ayden to me.
I felt lost in my heart after Ayden left and when I realized that I was all alone in the diner. The cleaner must have left after doing her job and Chloe, my best friend hasn't shown up today. My hand instinctively went to my neck and I touched the unhealed mark with mixed feelings.
I could leave Alpha Calvin’s house but I wasn't delighted, just relieved.
I sighed but went about the day, working in my diner like always. Since Chloe had decided not to show up today, I had to work alone and when it was almost time for the banquet, I closed the diner and left for home. .. a place that would no longer be my home after I move in with Ayden.
When I arrived home and arrived at my room, I saw my sister’s frame, crouching over my bed. She must have sensed me come in but Emaline kept her attention on something else.
“What could it be that stole my sister’s attention?”
I chimed and walk closer enough to peep at whatever was on my bed and when I caught a glimpse of it, I was stunned. Lying on my bed was the most beautiful dress I had ever seen within the walls of this house. Could it be?
“This beauty did, Zay. imagining how it will look on you is why I couldn't take my eyes off it.”
My sister responded, confirming my suspicion. It was indeed the dress she had bought for me to wear on to and for my mate. Emaline had mentioned keeping a beautiful dress for me and she promised that she would bestow it to me on an auspicious day.
Although she opposed her mate throughout the previous night, she couldn't protect me. This was my sister doing the least she could do to make today special.
“You don’t want the Alpha King to arrive at the banquet before you, Zay. You should get ready. Here, take the dress and shine tonight.”
My sister handed me the white sparkling dress and when she thought I wasn't looking, she wiped her eyes, getting rid of the moisture in them. My heart ached for her and I decided it was the right time to ease her worries.
“I got marked, Ema.” I began and maintained eye contact with my sister, “My fated mate marked me.” I quickly added.
Emaline’s reaction might have been uproarious if I wasn't feeling lost and if I didn't just lie to my sister. Would she buy my white lie? Maybe…
ZADIE WILSONEmaline had always been a duplicate of our mother. She was my assistant mom even when our parents were alive and after their death, she took the responsibilities upon herself. No amount of money I give to her would pay for all she had done for me. She loved me and I did too… which was why I was lying to her. Sometimes, a white lie was necessary. If I wanted to be selfish and be the younger sister that I was, I would have opened up my wounded soul and cried to my sister but it was high time I grew up and relieved Emaline. She deserved to be less worried.I believed my actions would give her that but my sister gaped in disbelief. I would have believed it was a funny reaction if she didn't begin to cry harder and without hiding her tears from me. That was unlike Emaline. She would never cry before me. “Ema-”“Don't tell me you chose a random guy so you wouldn't be sent to the Alpha King. please tell me you didn't do that, Zay. I wouldn't be able to live with that.”Emali
ZADIE WILSONSay something to him, Zadie. Anything at all. “Answer me, Zadie or should I leave-” “I am trying to think of the best way to explain this to you, Ayden. Please calm down-” “You mean I should calm down and allow you to lie to me? Come on, Zadie.” We both didn't allow each other to talk, the way he was calling my name with anger didn't give me that mushy feeling. It made me sick, in fact. “Why will I lie to you, Ayden? I came here because I had to. Let me explain myself before you jump to conclusions.”I beseeched Ayden and he folded his arms, and leaned against his car, waiting for the explanation I had for him. I understood that he was angry that I attended but was it necessary? “My brother-in-law is the Alpha of this pack and he asked me to attend the banquet. I couldn't refuse and when you marked me, it was too late to back out of the initial arrangement.”I did my best to explain, letting Ayden know that I was still under Alpha Calvins’s author for as long as I
ALPHA KING AYDENI sensed her before seeing her on the floor. My car, the one befitting for my Alpha King Staus, not the one I usually use when I wanted in disguise, stopped suddenly, and when I caught sight of Zadie through the mirror, my first instinct was to hide my face so she wouldn't see me. I quickly bent my head, hiding as she got off the floor. I didn't want her to see me. For one I was dressed as the Alpha King and everything about me schemed riches. I wasn't the Ayden she met yesterday at the moment. “She can’t see you, Alpha King. the window is one way.” Jaxon who was sitting in the passenger seat informed me. The car had three rows of seats. The driver row, the passenger row that Jaxon was sitting on, and the last row where I was sitting. I raised my head high again and pretended as if I wasn't just hiding seconds ago. Jaxon snickered before speaking to the driver who kept apologizing for his rough driving skills.“You can continue the journey—”However, he was cut o
ZADIE WILSONI was still looking around the big house when my cell phone started to ring. My eyes rolled as if they had a mind of their own when I saw that Ayden was the one calling me. I answered the call but focus on finding my way back to the living room where my box was still lying. Getting lost in this house would be easy. “Why aren't you opening the damn door!”His voice hit my eardrums and I didn't fail to hear the anger in it. “What door—”“The door to the house, Zadie. I have been knocking for ages. How did you fail to hear the banging sound?”Ayden interrupted. I felt bad for keeping him waiting by the door but the house was large enough for me not to hear him knocking on the front door and didn't he have a key? The key I found by the flower pot beside the entrance was what I used to enter the house and I assumed it was a spare key. I rushed to the living room and unlocked the door. Ayden’s face look swollen when he entered the house and I bite my lips, seeing that he wa
ZADIE WILSONThe Alpha King was here? How is that possible? I can't believe that Calvin eventually convinced him to attend the banquet even after he tore up the invitation the last time.Looking around, I found out that Calvin was nowhere to be found. He's the one organizing this banquet and he isn't here. My sister's thoughts came to my mind instantly, I just hope that he hasn't harassed her again and that is the reason why he hasn't shown up yet."Zaa." Chloe called out to me, placing a hand on my dainty shoulder.I turned to look at her, snapping out of my thoughts. She had an expression on her face that showed that she was concerned about me. I feigned a smile, despite my displeasure at the Alpha King's presence. I don't know why I hate him so much even though I have never seen his face!Maybe my sister's mate being an Alpha has completely ruined their image. All they want is a servant who they can order around in the name of a mate. I scrunch my nose as I think about it."Are you
ALPHA KING AYDEN Driving into the compound where the banquet was being held, a group of men who turned out to be security for that night rushed to welcome me. Laying out a red carpet, they all bowed as I majestically made my way into the hall.I have never really liked attention but I'm used to it. The wolves present, both male and female, tried to take pictures and yelled my name as I walked past them. I kept a straight face, ignoring their greetings. I've been called cold hearted because I rarely showed any emotion, maybe it's true."Our mate is here." Karl growled, signalling that Zadie was here. What? What is she doing here? Why did Zadie come to the banquet again? Did she also want to meet the Alpha King? Did she also want to get his attention and win his heart like the other females here? I guess I was too quick to believe that she was a good werewolf. With a frown on my face, I entered the banquet hall and immediately, loud screams filled the air, my subjects were always excit
ZADIE WILSONI was stunned by how Ayden reacted just now. I raised my head to look at him, because he was much taller. I was wondering what was going on in his head, he was acting possessive and jealous. The way he glared at Lucas scared me.Chloe and Lucas were equally stunned, especially Lucas. I can only imagine how heartbroken he is after finding out that I have a mate and I have been marked. Even though I have tried to keep my distance from him to avoid his feelings for me from growing, it didn't help.Turning back to Ayden, I wiggled my wrist, trying to free myself from his grip. He looked at me and quickly let go of my hand. The anger in his eyes quickly faded and was replaced by guilt. He probably realized that he overreacted. I'm just glad nobody got into a fight."Do you want to go with me?" Ayden suddenly asked, his tone was also much softer."Yes." I answered, nodding.I turned to Chloe and Lucas, I hugged Chloe and took a glance at Lucas before walking towards the directi
ZADIE WILSONAyden stared at me for some seconds before facing the road again. Wasn't he going to answer?"I don't have any relation to him. Why do you ask?" He finally spoke."Isn't it weird that you both have the same name?" I asked, arching my brows and trying to monitor his expressions. As usual, his face was void of emotion."It's just a coincidence. Many people share the same name." He answered, pushing down on the accelerator as the car started moving faster than before. My heart almost sank into my stomach, I pleaded with him to drive slower but he continued, tightening his grip on the steering wheel. I could see the veins in his neck swell up.Oh, my days! What did I say wrong now?"Stop it Ayden! You're gonna get us killed!" I screamed at the top of my voice and he suddenly came to a halt. I almost hit my head on the dashboard but thank goodness I was wearing a seatbelt. We both panted heavily, exchanging glances."What was that about?" I asked, my hands trembling from the s
ZADIE WILSON“Her eyes are opening, Mom…” Kairo’s childish voice was the first voice I heard after a warm hand left my forehead. I thought I was hallucinating but Emaline’s voice came after Kairo’s. My sister said amusingly, “Aunt Zadie wants to give you herself as your birthday gift. I told you she would wake up today.” Kairos’s birthday? Oh, dear goddess!“Don’t keep them waiting. We all have been waiting for you to wake up.” Those words filled my mind causing me to jump out of bed. That was the first time I would ever hear someone in my head and even though the voice was familiar, it still scared the shit out of me. “Get used to it, baby.” The voice came again even before I set my eyes on the speaker who was standing in one corner of the unfamiliar room with his arms placed lazily on his torso.Ayden. His voice was blank and he stared at me like I was the best thing in his life and–“You sure are the best thing in my life and I am happy to see you awake and agile.” Ayden voic
ALPHA KING AYDENThe tension in the air intensified. Emaline began to cry and even though I was still confused, I didn't ask any questions. I allowed her to go on at her own pace. Luna Lucia stepped even closer to Emaline when she touched her head and groaned in pain. Luna Lucia used her newly acquired power again, whispering, “Your memories are free from the shackles they have been trapped in. Flourish directly from the source.”Emaline, who had always been a gentlewoman, screamed at the top of her lungs and I lifted Kairo into my arms to shield him. Kairo’s eyes were red as he looked at his mom but he didn't let the tear slip. He held it all in, which caused me to worry about him. Luna Lucia held Emaline as she struggled like a possessed woman. “You are okay, Luna Emaline. You are okay.” Luna Lucia breathed calmly and Emaline imitated her. After pulling herself together, Emaline ended up breaking down. She sobbed, shaking her head as she stared at Calvin like he was the worst t
ALPHA KING AYDENIt’s been two days since I found Zadie and took her home… to my real home where my mom, dad, and brother were waiting to have her…. The entire pack was waiting to have her, in fact, but they couldn't see her as the war still continued. Of course, after Zadie fainted two days ago, I searched the building for clothes and found some right in the room where we completed the bond. I dressed us up but while I did, I found some letters hidden in the room and picked them up along with other materials that appeared suspicious and could be used as evidence. I took Zadie home to my Mom and Robin before leaving to join Jaxon and the men on the battlefront, carrying a piece of Zadie with me. Despite that, two days away from her was leaving a toil on me. But I couldn't leave, not when we were this close to winning this war.I mean we would have won if Alpha Calvin hasn't run away to hide his ass. “How do we smoke him out? He doesn't care about anyone but himself.” Karl pointed
ALPHA KING AYDENI grabbed his neck with only one intention. Kill him.The minute I freed myself from the spells he cast on me through the help of the witch… it has to be the witch because K doesn't seem like he had magical powers that were strong enough to make his Alpha King hallucinate. Regardless, he was going to die. I did feel like our win was too easy but that didn't stop Karl from fueling my anger as I tightened my hold on K’s neck. I didn't ask him questions even though I had like a million questions for him nor did I allow him to talk. I simply went for the kill.Obviously, he was a puppet and there was someone bigger behind him. Hopefully, Jaxon would succeed at capturing those people. “Kill him.” Karl seethed. And with one swift turn, I broke K’s neck and threw his body to the floor before ripping out his heart. I then kicked his body out of the room. I was too angry to torture him or waste time with him and I was more worried about Zadie and where we both stand as m
ZADIE WILSONWhen he said he would make me beg, he wasn't joking. I have come to realize that whether I was seeing Ayden or K, it doesn't change anything as long as the person with me is K.For the past too long minutes, he had been teasing me even though he would have had his way easily. I begged shamelessly. I couldn't help it and truth be told, I couldn't hate it either. My actions, my pleas, my whimpers… all of them were born out of desperation. I couldn't control my need so no one could hold this against me, right? No one could judge me based on this, right? No one but me. I would be devastated when the poison wears off. That’s if I don’t end up as a wild wolf with no hope of getting rescued. K fondled my breasts through the ting fabric of my dirty shirt. And again, I moaned. “Pl-please….” I whimpered, certainly begging to be fucked. I couldn't feel shame and neither did I see any reason to beg him not to touch me… I craved it. It was like a necessity that would save my l
ALPHA KING AYDENA sudden burn on my lips caught me off guard and I felt myself falling. My legs failed as my heart constricted not because I have been running for several minutes but because I was getting punished by the mate bond. “He is kissing her.” Karl spelled it out darkly. My knees touched the ground and I cried out in pain in the middle of nowhere. I didn't know where I was going but that didn't stop me from running towards where the mate bond was pulling me. I was certain it was this way. I could feel every wave of desire that hit Zadie… And I didn't fail to feel the lips of someone that wasn’t me on hers. “Ahhh…” I growled. My fists clenched the twigs that were on the ground and some cut my palm but I didn't stop pushing them further into my hand. I was over… This was the end. “No, Ayden!” Karl growled in my head. Blood and sweat mixed together externally while pain and anger mixed well internally. “If you are feeling like this because he kissed her. Have you sto
ZADIE WILSONI didn't know how long I had been out but one thing I knew for sure was that the moment I opened my eyes, a portal opened within me.A portal of need. I was hungry. I was severely hungry but food wasn't the problem. Something shifted within me and I felt the heat becoming more passionate. The hunger wasn't in my stomach. It was right there between my legs. Right there within my core. I gasped and found myself wanting to be consumed by that hunger. It was strange but it was the best kind of hunger I had ever felt. It did come with pain as it grew yet I wanted more of it.“Now that’s what I am talking about.” The familiar voice of K broke into my trance and my eyes cut to him quickly. He chuckled when he saw my condition. “You want to be touched right? I can be of help.” His irritating voice made my skin crawl and I gagged even though I sort of found the thought of him touching me appeasing. What was wrong with me? “In time, you will stop gagging. The poison is takin
ALPHA KING AYDENEight hours have passed since Robin and I had our unusual conversation.Eight hours have passed since Zadie’s kidnapper gave me an ultimatum of forty-eight hours.Robin has explained some facts about the mate bond; even though Zadie hasn't marked me, the mark on her neck can guide me to her. But for that to happen, Zadie has to be in danger and in extreme pain. It was concerning but I haven't felt anything strange yet. I was also hoping that my parents would arrive before the moment happened. My dad has to be here before I can leave the palace. I sat in Regina’s room, occasionally staring at her and my cell phone screen. My grandmother would have been disappointed in me if she had been conscious. She would probably eat me alive when she wakes up and find out I have put Zadie through so much more than anyone could imagine. Keeping Zadie, a secret should have protected her but it didn't. “We will save her,” Karl assured me even though he was also very much anxious.
CHAPTER 89.ALPHA KING AYDEN“You have to calm down, Alpha King…” Jaxon cautioned me but I was far gone.I was losing my mind… in fact, I have lost my mind. Chloe was crying uncontrollably in Jaxon’s hand while Jack just stood in a corner watching us with wide eyes. I was in pain. My heart hurt so bad yet there was nothing I could do about it. I could no longer control my emotions despite Regina’s condition. Everything was a mess.Although Zadie had stopped screaming, I was more worried. Why couldn't I hear her voice anymore? This was my fault. I shouldn't have acted nonchalantly. And K or whatever the fuck his name may be has taken it upon himself to reveal my identity to Zadie. “What did you do to her?” I gritted into the cell phone speaker, ignoring everyone around me.K laughed again. He must have inhaled laughing gas. “She fainted. How could a weak female like her be destined to be your mate? Well, good for me.”“I am warning you. Don’t touch her or even think about—”“You c
