KYLE'S POV

"I'll take over the throne!" I told my parents who gazed at me as if I just uttered some forbidden words out of the blue.

"Kyle? Are you okay?" My mom asked in surprise.

"I'm fine mum, I'm just ready to take on my responsibilities now." I said with determination.

"Why?" My dad chirped suspiciously.

"Because I'm the heir, and you've always wanted me to take over the throne." I retorted back at them and they couldn't hide their shock.

"I don't know what's gotten into your head but don't you dare back out now that you've just proclaimed that.

I'm glad you came home." He said trying to hide his excitement and I rolled my eyes.

I've been unfair to them but no one should really blame me. They tried so hard to be my parents when they were not, I watched my parents die before my eyes so calling them mum or dad was the most disgusting thing ever, they've been nothing but nice people who spoiled me silly and all I did was remind them that they will never be my real parents.
