Amarantha’s POV
His fierce set of marbles kept blazing like fire. It was darted to his opponent. That moment was so unbelievable that I almost choked up inhaling the air.As soon as he displayed his anger and authority, I was able to see the details on his face. For how many times I've seen slaughter before my eyes, the times I now began to feel awe at this very thing that I feared the most. The man which they called the Alpha King was there killing intruders inside this cave. His long and sharp nails appeared and clawed all of them one by one. The human slaves were asked by the Alpha King's Iotas to exit the cave and go back to the huge dungeon. Everything happened so fast that I lost count of the moments. I just heard him instructing me on something."Hide!" he shouted at me and then continued battling with the assassins.I hid behind clay furniture and watched him easily killing them all.I was still frozen at that moment. I couldn't even move my mouth to speak. I found him dragging me closer to his side.I gasped. I could smell his addictive scent that I had never smelled appealing before. He led me to an unfamiliar path. I didn't focus too much on where. It was because I was so drawn to his face. I couldn't even stop staring at him. After that long walk, we finally stopped. I found myself on top of a platform. We were already outside the cave. The royal council was gathering below the platform I and the Alpha King were standing on. I saw the awe in their eyes still bowing their heads to their leader. We were in a huge gathering center. It lies beneath the heart of Prima Tierra's territory. But no one aside from the council stood there."For decades, we have never experienced assassins invading our pack. I want all of you to be alert. We cannot let those abominating rogues invade us again," the Alpha King called. "And now, I announce this to all. No one ever dares to hurt this woman in front of you. This woman is none other than my Luna. Anyone who dares to touch her will be gravely punished!" he announced. The council started to utter words I couldn't understand. That was when their voices filled my chest with trebles and echoes. I turned to him and saw his eyes glued to mine. It was like they were trying to dig deep within me. My hidden desires, fear, and weaknesses. It felt like those traits reflected on them, trying to tell me that their owner provides me with safety, love, and support. For the first time, it felt like home. It felt so serene. No matter how ruthless and fearsome this man was in front of me, I could no longer feel the hatred that I once felt before hearing his name. It's as if it was automatically erased by my own system. Was this because he saved me? Was this because I almost lost my life earlier? Or was it something in his eyes that I could not fathom?"At last... I have found you, my mate..." he whispered to me with his grateful smile. From then on, my fate changed in full swing. The whole night turned from a fearsome moment to a romantic encounter. How did I become his mate?*****I was forced to go inside the royal pool where the Alpha King usually bathes. Right after that bloody moment, I wasn't able to talk the whole time. It felt like someone tied my tongue. His people took me here to the royal pool. They now scrubbed my back with a weird-looking loofa scrub. All that was left on me was a piece of a white towel wrapped around my torso. Good thing the water was warm and relaxing.I could smell a mixture of rainfall and wood grass. The very scent that I smelt when I was too close to the Alpha King. I didn't quite get that moment that's why I didn't speak a word or two.The two ladies that were dressed as chambermaids silently continued their scrubbing.I sighed and looked at them. "Excuse me, can I ask something?"Both of them showed me their terrified looks. They were reluctant, I could tell it by their faces."Are you not allowed to talk to me?" I asked further. No one replied again.I grunted. "Oh, please! You can talk to me. I just need to ask something about the Alpha King..."No one answered."They will not say a word, human..." Suddenly, a voice butted in. When I lifted my head, I saw the man they called the Beta. He looked so cunning and distrustful. He looked like a clean bandit who preys on orphaned and widowed humans like me.I lowered my head after recognizing him. He was the one who dragged me to this place."They wouldn't because they are instructed by the Alpha King not to talk during his bathe," the Beta explained."I-I see... no wonder..." I whispered."What is it that you want to ask, human?""I still didn't get why I was dragged here. Were all of the things he said to me true? And it's weird. I just happened to identify someone's smell. His smell. Well... not all the time and objectively. I mean... why do I smell the Alpha King's weird perfume? He smelled like wood grass. It felt so good smelling. I have never thought of wood grass to be aromatic. So, how is that possible?" I asked a bit weirded out.The Beta chuckled and was murmuring something that I didn't catch. He shook his head and turned to me. "Don't get too excited, human. Just because you're chosen, you'll expect him to treat you nicely. For us, you're of no value. You are here for a purpose. Keep that in your mind. And that smell? It was just nothing. It's only normal for mates to find their other halves aromatic in a way. The body knows automatically that they are destined. But this experience is only applicable to werewolves, puny little human. If someone like you had it, then it means you are made by the moon goddess to be the true mate of the Alpha King," he replied.I widened my eyes and blinked twice. "Y-you mean, I am his true mate because of that?" I slapped my forehead in disbelief. "I must be dreaming. I must be dreaming..." I kept on repeating to myself. The Beta chuckled once more. "You must be happy that you became his mate?"I lowered my head once more. Should I be? I didn't know how to react but definitely, when our eyes met, it was like a dream. A very good dream. But I didn't know what to expect. My heart is still full of doubts and fear.I looked at the beta with frightened eyes. "If I am the true mate of the Alpha King, then what will happen to the rest of the humans?" That was the real question that I wanted to ask. I was still curious about this part. I've been too worried about the human girls from earlier. I wanted to know where could I visit them. They must be freed right after the ceremony. They shouldn't be killed. They shouldn't go to that extreme."Oh, didn't they explain to you the consequences of not being chosen as the Alpha King's mate?" he had asked.I listened closely and waited for him to continue his words."Those women who weren't chosen will be slaughtered just as the Alpha King had instructed. I think the slaughter is now going on..." He smiled cunningly after saying those words.I stood up abruptly with my mouth hanging open. The waters from the pool dripped from the white towel I wore. "What?!"*****I stomped my feet paving my way to the Alpha King's whereabouts. I don't care if I would break the code around here as long as I talk to him. Needless to say, I am frightened. This ethereal courage I have was so great that I was too overwhelmed. But deep inside me, I fear for my life. I wanted to go back to the bathing room but I already set foot in this place. It's now or never.I kept on walking towards an open area. There were several lights around the place. It looked like a large resting place for kings. There were no seats around. The only piece of furniture that I saw was a piece of long woodwork that was filled with battlefield armor and spheres. At the end of the hall, I saw a tall figure looking up at the sky. From the way he dressed, I quickly knew that he was the person that I was looking for.I marched toward him and stopped at the woodwork. "Alpha King!" I called to him trying to not look so scared but it still showed.Slowly, the Alpha King turned to me with his fazed expression. He looked away all of a sudden. "Who told you to come here?!" he shouted with his gritted teeth."I came here to talk to you," I answered back while heaving a sigh."What is it that you want? Had you not been informed that you are not allowed in this room?""Please, stop the execution of the human girls at the choosing ceremony. Stop your minions from hurting my people!" I demanded with all my might. I shoved away the fear from my chest. I didn't care if this man would lash out at me. It's all more important to save those humans.Tears started to fall from my eyes. I gripped my fists tightly, trying to keep my courage."They don't have anything to do with all of these. You already have me. You already chose me to be your true mate, didn't you? Then, let go of my people. Let go of them and let them live their lives for a long time," I continued."And who are you to ask me this? You are nothing to me." The Alpha King finally faced me with his enraged face. And that was the problem. No matter how angry I am right now, I still found his face too handsome regardless of his anger being displayed. It felt as though my dirty mind was playing with me.I quickly shook my head and continued looking at him with pleading eyes. "But, you said that you were glad to find me as your mate. You announced it to your people.""Those words needed to be said at that moment. There's nothing more to it other than words. Empty. Useless. They don't mean a thing to me. So, don't get your hopes too high. To me, you are nothing but a mere object I can use. Nothing more, nothing less."My tears started brimming down my cheeks. How could he say those words? Did he not feel the connection between us?So, the rumors about him being ruthless were true?I nodded in defeat. "I understand. I know that you would say that. I am just a human to you. And I don't know what's the real reason behind all these, but I know that my role in your life is important. You wouldn't waste your time with such a ceremony, right? I know that you needed me for something," I said in a long statement.I looked down at the woodwork and grabbed a small knife. I made the sharp and pointed end face my fresh and vulnerable neck.I looked back at the Alpha King and gave him a threatening look. "You say that I'm nothing more but a mere object to you. If that's how things work to you, then I'll have to do this...""What are you doing? Stop!""I won't!""I said stop!""If you don't let them go, then let's put all your efforts to waste..." I closed my eyes tightly. My hand started to shake.I could see how my life flashed before my eyes. The things I was trying to achieve will be finally put to waste.I moved my hand and the knife was about to get plunged into my neck.Suddenly, a faint wind came in and a strong hand stopped mine. I didn't feel any pain at all but I suddenly felt a warm liquid dripping from where the knife was located.Slowly, I opened my eyes and saw the Alpha King's sharp gray eyes darting at me with his tensed jaw. He was too close to me. His breath fanned my cheek. And the blood from his hand was still dripping on my shoulder. His hand stopped the knife from going into my neck. He let himself be hurt in the process.I gasped. I couldn't even form any words in my mouth."If only I could kill you with my bare hands, damn it, I would! Your filthy mouth is too lethal and you leave me no choice..." he hissed. "You have my word," he said with his gritted teeth. "I'll let them go and you will stay by my side and do your duty as my mate!"That moment felt a dozen sparks inside my heart. That was when I realized, a towel was still wrapped around me and the only thing that protected me from the cold was his warm body...Amarantha’s POVThis creature in front of me was the epitome of fear. All of the humans were frightened of him. This huge kind of a man was none other than the Alpha King himself.I have never heard of his name before. This day had been terribly too fast and I wasn't able to know his name yet. Suddenly, I felt the urge to know it. But I couldn't ask him. I felt bashful suddenly. My emotions felt like they were playing with me. And I've grown to hate that fact. This Alpha King... I should be hating him to the core. He was the reason for all of the disasters in my country. Ever since humans had fallen under the food chain, we became outcasts; slaves of our own planet. But paradoxically, my knees hated the fact that they quiver at his presence and yet felt so longing for his touch. I was having this weird notion inside of me that I shouldn't be feeling. Something inside me screamed haywire yearning to be touched.Never did I have this kind of thought since my existence in this world. But
Iram’s POVIn my mind, I was like raising a million miles endlessly. I couldn't seem to get it off my head. Her scent troubled me. I was never troubled like this in my entire life. How could a mere human smell like cinnamon and rose at the same time? It was a weird combination. Though I find it amusing to know that her scent was sweet seeping inside my nostrils and never leaving my system, that was also the very thing that I hated the most. I can never feel gullible to anyone yet I'm starting to feel like one in front of her. To a mere human. That brazen human. How can she come to me and ask for something I couldn't control? Slaves are slaves, be it the lowest rank in the werewolf species or humans, if they are deemed to be killed, no one must interfere with that. The royal decree declared the slaves' fate inside Prima Tierra Pack. But in just a blink of an eye, I found myself obeying her request like I was considering her to be my actual Luna. I became submissive. And it hurt my ego
Amarantha’s POVI was trying to wrack my brain in finding out one significant memory that could make me trace a moment in my life when someone had protected me from anyone who tried to harm me.I tried looking back at my childhood memories. Was it my parents? My friends perhaps?Yes, they did. They were protective of me before. But those memories were slowly fading like faceless people who only occupy my dreams at night. It felt like they never existed before. It felt like they were fantasies that I built on my own.Due to the war, those little cherished memories of mine were slowly fading and were replaced by fear day by day. That fear turned into restlessness, hopelessness, and ignorance of my youth. I began to strain the records of my past until I couldn't hold one. That was when I saw that same moment today. It was when my hater began to protect me. My mortal enemy, the Alpha King.It was a nice morning to wake up, actually. It was my first time waking up on a soft bed with pillows
Amarantha's POVI opened my eyes after dreaming of something unbelievable. In my dreams, I saw myself staring at Iram's peaceful state. I was lying beside him, watching him sleep safely and soundly. It was a bubbly feeling during that time. I remembered myself shivering in the cold as I was still wearing the same outfit as before. A thin sheet of dress that I wore during the choosing ceremony. The one that a strange man came to give me. I didn't remember that I wore this myself but it feels like it was yesterday. Now that I remember that, I wonder where did that mysterious man go after that? He seemed to be in haste when he gave me the dress. I wonder what was it for other than to make sure I was chosen. Then, it hit me big time. The fact that I was only chosen because of this dress made me shudder in fear. If this was so, does it mean that I'm also incapable of healing Iram?I gasped at that thought. It felt like I woke up in a dream and then woke up again. This time, I saw the observ
Amarantha's POV"I need you..."Those words were very rare to people like me. It is rare to a point that I didn't even remember the first time I ever heard of that phrase.I was totally dumbfounded. This Alpha King whom I hated the most ever since this war broke out turned out to be someone who needed me. I was now considered his lifeline. No one has ever thought of me as their last straw of hope. I never once thought that I'm capable of having a life purpose. I only thought that surviving was the most important; surviving and defeating the werewolves. Then, after that, I didn't know what exactly I needed. I just wanted to get a normal life that was taken away from me. But that sense of purpose hadn't even sparked in my life. It felt like I was just striving hard to do something that I don't have a purpose for. And yet here I am being dragged into this mess that quite shook me into realizing that this was it.This was what my purpose was. To be by his side. To be his safeguard, his saf
Chapter 9: Amarantha's POV"We still have a problem, my king..." Beta Iñigo suddenly uttered after a brief silence. All of the council members looked at him, even Iram."What is it?""How do we do what the council wants? It is not something so simple, your grace. She's a human and we don't have any ways to make her into a real werewolf unless she'd turn into.""Oh, may I interrupt this conversation?" I blurted out. "You are talking about my well-being here. I get it that you hated me because I'm a human but turning me into a werewolf gravely violates my right to live. Turning me into a monster is not an option!" I clearly stated. Then, the Delta snarled at me showing his sharp teeth and glowing red eyes. His name is Redentus. By the looks of his physique, I could tell how he trained so well in physical battle. He has a broad chest and well-toned muscles. He is a bit red-skinned and has long hair. He looked younger than Iram. "You have no right to call us monsters! Your race is the real
Amarantha's POVThe expedition started. I was asked to ride a horse on my own but I quickly said no. I've never ridden a horse before. It was something that I was supposed to learn before the war began but that was quickly taken away from me.Now that they're asking me this, all of their faces grimaced. Some of them started to ride away their horses after rolling their eyes at me.I shrugged. "Sorry, I just don't know how to..." I sincerely told Iram.He sighed exasperatedly and thought for a second. After that, I saw him nod at me and offered his arm outstretched to me. "Here. I'll lift you..."I accepted his hand and he pulled me up until I was seated before him. I gasped loudly; my eyes felt like they were about to bail out of my skull. The moment I was sitting there next to him felt like I was energized. His scent drove me again into a frenzy."Hold still. I won't pick you up if you fall..." he whispered to my ear.But because of the goosebumps, I wasn't able to react fast. When he
Amarantha's POVThe evening came and Iram was still in his bed as advised by his pack doctor. But despite that, he was still open to his council members for a meeting.I had to be there since I needed to make sure that Iram's heart doesn't stop. I was a bit confident about my ability as his curse-breaker, though I knew that I was just a fake, I still believe that I have the same effect as his real curse-breaker.I saw his wounds healed in front of me when I touched his cheek. It was indeed magic!I was never a believer in magic or any kind of sorcery. But seeing what had happened earlier made me think twice.Maybe I was really a curse-breaker. Or someone who can heal others, not just him.Since Iram was injured, the council had decided to postpone the plan of finding the Rogue Witch.Gufu stood up. "My King, why don't we also postpone the announcement during the Full Moon Festival? We still have to make sure that everything is set before you face the members of the pack," he suggested.
Amarantha's POV I saw many things a human shouldn't have at this time of age.As girls leaving in Scotland, we could have been enjoying the traditions and swooning about the magic of love in wedding ceremonies.I was once that typical woman. But in today's generation where I live in a world where another creature coexisted with humans, I beg to differ.Human girls would still prefer marrying rather than choosing to be of service to the people.I became the Luna Queen of Europe.Years passed. Other packs reshaped the way they thought about the world. The Alpha King and I are devout to be of service to the werewolf society. It was a tough job as many ridiculed me for being a human. Many also ridiculed Iram for the rumors of him being cursed by the Moon Goddess. But I stayed by his side and never left him.I showed them that the curse was nothing but propaganda to oust him from his post as the Alpha King.Inima already explained things to us. Before she died, she revealed everything inc
Iram's POV Right after Omnibus left, memories started to rush inside of me...Omnibus came to me inside the library with quite a surprise. He was with Lorna.I narrowed my eyes in confusion. "Lorna? What are you doing here? You were with her?" I asked Omnibus. He shrugged and pointed at her. "She said she has to say something to you."I turned to her again and waited for her to say something. She heaved a sigh and faced me. "Alpha King. Please forgive me for fooling you, but please hear me out before it's too late..." she suddenly uttered."What do you want to tell me?""I am not Lorna Ferrel. I am a Chimera. Someone that has two souls, two wolves in one body. With that, I have two fated mates. And one of them was you..."I arched my brow at her. I am starting to get annoyed. "What nonsense are you talking about? Are you trying to fool me right now?""I am telling you the truth. I am none other than your first mate. Inima Wahlberg. Beta Iñigo's dead sister. I am her. I am that fated
Omnibus' POV After that conversation with Luna Amarantha and Shintara, I felt like my energy was drained from me.At night, King Iram asked for my audience. Still, a bit disarrayed, I forced myself to get up and came to his chamber. He sat at a table and poured a drink. He smiled and gestured his hand to me. "Come and join me here, Omnibus!" he delightfully invited me.My shoulders slumped at the scene and frowned at him. "Wow! I'm dying inside and you're celebrating? Do I look like a joke to you, Iram?" I casually asked. He snorted and patted the empty chair. "It's not for celebration, idiot!"I gasped. "Woah! When did you learn to cuss at me, brother?""Shintara taught me well, don't worry!" he laughed.I frowned and rolled my eyes. "Did you just call me to make fun of my broken heart?"Iram chuckled again and placed the glass in front of me. "Drink."I sighed and stared at the glass before drinking the beer in it. "Is it so wrong to feel guilty about Amarantha's twin sister? I mea
Amarantha's POV During the lunch with the Alpha King, the two love birds can't stop bickering at each other. They sent sharp daggers at each other and then turned away in contempt.I couldn't help but sigh."Can someone please tell me what's happening?" Iram asked but I just turned to him and shook my head."Don't ask. They won't budge. Trust me."***** After that, Iram had to leave us three for some peace talks with other packs.I was left with the two still not happy with each other's company."Do you want to reject each other? Is that it?" I asked."No!" they both angrily replied."Well, then, kiss and make up already!""It's not that simple, Luna!" Shintara reasoned. "I don't want to get married to a man who is still stuck with his past!""And I wouldn't want to marry a woman who still thinks she knows better! Fine by me!" Omnibus butted in.I rolled my eyes and massaged my temples. After that, I faced them. "Let's be clear here. Ava is dead. My twin sister is dead. So, what's t
Amarantha's POV I smiled at the boy who asked that question and patted his shoulder. "Good question, dear!" I told him delightfully. "Because I don't want to change everything in me. I accept who and what I am as I am made to be who I am."If I try to change myself, then I would have no face to show in front of my original race. I wouldn't have convinced them into this peace. Most importantly, the new rules would be irrelevant to those people who wanted peace. Because if I become the face of someone who isn't proud of who I am, then what will become of others? They wouldn't be happy to see me not so proud of how I was brought into this world."The people sympathized with my words and understood me.For me, it wasn't just because of the humans that I stayed human. For me, I chose to stay who I am because I am happy with who I am.God made me a human for a purpose. He wanted me to reach this far for me to know what I should do. And this was it."Roaming around again?" Beta Omnibus teas
Amarantha's POV We immediately left Nottingham with a brief announcement to leave.I could not wait for Emerett's approval anymore. I just told him that I await his answer but he has to deliver it with action.Shintara and I immediately landed on Prima Tierra. With her swift strides, we came back in a span of 30 minutes.I was shocked to see the scenery.I saw Iram's wolf fighting against Iñigo's wolf. Some of Prima Tierra's soldiers were losing."No one came from Ouse?" I asked worriedly."We need stalling, Luna. You must go to the border and let them in. I will help others in here," Shintara said then left. She fought alongside the soldiers.I frustratingly ran toward the border. Some were about to attack me but luckily, a familiar wolf came and killed two of the werewolves."Omnibus?""How are you doing, Luna? Be careful!" he shouted, then led me to the border. After that, he left me alone. Not long enough, the pack of rogues came. The leader shifted into his human form and faced
Amarantha's POV "We have to hurry!" Shintara shouted at me.I was having second thoughts about leaving Iram behind. I didn't feel cool with this. Something is bothering me."What are you taking so long?" she asked, irritated. "We're almost there, Luna!""I can't just do this. Something is not right, Shintara. What if something happened to them?""Quit overthinking and let's focus on this task. Do you not want this for your people?"She's right. I was too busy worrying about Iram. He can handle himself. He is very strong unlike me who is just a mere human who can only heal him if he needs me.After that thought, I decided to follow Shintara's tracks. Shintara shifted into her large white wolf form. She let me ride behind her as she swiftly glided through the forest. We reached the Ouse River in front of the Rogue Alpha's tavern. They displayed hostility but when they saw Shintara's wolf, they all scowled away in fear and backed down.Shintara shifted back to her human form and faced t
Iram's POV "Your Majesty! They are already here! The traitors!" one of the Iotas shouted.I clenched my jaw in anger and faced the army I have prepared. "Gather all the citizens and make sure they are safe in one place. Close all exit points once they enter our pack." I turned to my right. "Gamma, choose one Iota you trust the most to relay my message. We need their help right now. Do you understand?"Omnibus nodded. "Yes, your majesty!" He faced his men and picked one for the work. That was when Shintara appeared. She crossed her arms and confidently looked at her mate. "I will lead that part. Count me in!" she volunteered."Are you sure you're going to do this?" he asked worriedly."Hey, if I ever was born rich like you, I would have been the Alpha King's Gamma. Don't pamper me too much."I scoffed at their bickering. But I no longer hated cheesy moments like this.I looked over my shoulder and smiled at the lady that lit up my whole life. "My Luna! How are you feeling?"Amarantha
Iñigo's POV "What are you saying, Oliver? Are you saying that the Luna was kidnapped?" Delta Redentus asked."Y-yes, Delta.""Where is your evidence? You cannot just say that in this court without evidence!" Gufu also uttered."I do have, Zeta. I have solid proof. But first, I want to ask the Alpha King about his recollection of this...""What is his involvement?"Oliver faced Iram and bowed his head. "My King. I would like to ask you a question...""Go ahead..." he replied."That night when you punished the luna after not eating the food you prepared for her, did you remember how you treated her? Specifically, where did she stay and who was with her?" Oliver asked curiously.Iram's forehead creased in confusion. "I don't quite remember everything. It was too bloody hellish that night that I didn't want to remember..." he answered honestly. "But I do remember approving to have her guarded by many Iotas," he added. My heart raised a million miles after hearing those words from him.Co
