Chapter Four

I was halfway down the stairs to the dinner hall when the commotion happened. A redhead girl all fiery temper suddenly tear at me without no warning.

"You thief," she shouted angrily. She's a lycan. And from all I've heard about lycans is that they were extremely dangerous and vengeful.

"You ought to be ashamed of yourself, you slut," she went on. Confused by the sudden assault I looked around to see if there was someone to help, unfortunately we were alone. I turned to face her.

"I don't understand why you are attacking me. I did nothing to you," I said.

"You should have thought of that before you stole from me," the lycan bit out. The tone she use was very degrading.

"Stole from you? I did no such th... " I was unable to finish my sentence before a resounding slap hit my right cheek.

"What the hell? Are you crazy?" My cheek sting so bad it was going to bruise.

"You criminal, if you are so poor you can't afford your own dress, as least don't steal mine. "

"Steal your dress? I don't know what you're talking about. This is a gift from the Alpha King Damien." I said trying to convince myself. The handmaid brought it and said it was a gift from the Alpha King. Then now I'm accuse of stealing the dress.

"A gift from the Alpha King? Hahaha... You wish. You are now lying against Alpha King Damien? How could you, you're such a thief and a liar. I wondered why the Alpha King thinks you're a match to compete with the likes of me. You're such a worthless thief."

Getting tired of the insults, I turned to leave, but the lycan girl furiously lunged at me, gripping the delicate lace of my dress, she rips them not caring if I was naked. I opened my mouth in shock as the dress is being rip from me. A pure fury envelope me and I grabbed her dress and rips it too. We struggled with each other for sometime, grappling and strangling, tearing at each other's dress.

Suddenly in place of the girl was a huge lycan beast. It's eyes were blood shot red with no trace of human in it. I screamed, stepping back just as it's claws swipe an inch too late from my face. I was already falling down the flight of stairs still screaming.

"Freya, No!" Alpha King Damien roared as he saw me fall. With a lightening speed I didn't know werewolves had, he sprinted and caught me just as I was about to hit the ground. I clunged to his soft furs with desperation, he'd change into his wolf to save me. His arms around me, his scent, the masculinity of his grip sent oestrogen to my brain. Safe. I was safe in my mates powerful arms. I love the feeling.

"What the hell, Maya? Why did you push her?" Alpha King Damien snapped at the lycan girl that pushed me.

"Alpha Damien she's a thief, she stole my dress," Maya said pouting at the Alpha King. She'd transformed back to her human self. Looking delicate, a different picture from the beast that wanted to tear me to pieces.

"I did no such thing, you thrash," I yelled at her.

The Alpha King placed me on my feet after transforming back to his human form. I was a little bit dizzy but I won't dare back down and let Maya call me a thief in front of Alpha King Damien. "Beatrice told me you choose this dress for me to wear for dinner tonight. Maya said I stole it from her."

The Alpha King Damien looked calmly at the both of us. The wisdom in his eyes was admiring.

"Beatrice," Alpha King Damien called out in a commanding voice. Beatrice appeared a few seconds later, looking scared. "Explain yourself. Who owns this dress?"

Beatrice looked like a cat up for slaughter. She twisted her fingers as she nudge towards Maya.

"She told me to take the dress to Miss Freya, so she could accuse her of stealing it. She wanted her to be eliminated from the Bride Selection."

"You liar, I did no such thing," Maya denied. Her eyes darted to see if the Alpha King Damien believes the story. The Alpha King remain silent, his face etched in an unreadable expression.

"I think it's time for dinner already," came a delicate and sensual voice. The girl who spoke exude sophistication that entails royalty. Her silk gown hug her curves. Her blonde hair bounce up her shoulders. She was very pretty and knows it obviously as she carries herself like she was already the Luna. A spike of jealous course through me as I saw the Alpha King Damien's eyes lit as soon as she entered. She was the lady he fucked that day at the ballroom.

"We'll finish this after dinner, now both of you go and change, look how uncultured you look for a Bride Selection as important as this," Alpha King Damien said, turning to her. I watched as he kissed her fingers.

"Leah, as enchanting as always," he said and Leah smiled seductively.

"Damien, you look nice, " Leah said. I watched as they both lock hands together and walked towards the dinner hall. Alpha King Damien shot me a bewildered look.

"Freya I don't like to be kept waiting. You're already late for dinner, go to your room and change your dress."

Caught staring, I blushed very hard and dashed upstairs. Good thing I wasn't injured. The burning on my right cheek was the reminder that I was weak and wolf less. If Alpha King Damien hadn't come in time to save me from that fall, I would have been badly injured. Maya is such a witch. Lying to get me eliminated from the Bride Selection. Too bad that won't work. As Alpha King Damien's mate he's going to choose me as his bride.

"He'd to choose me," I mumbled. "I'm his mate."

Threads of doubt lingered seeing the Alpha King so cozy about Leah. And he'd fucked her already. She seems to be the epitome of the picture perfect Luna. I sighed as a foreign feeling course through me. Jealousy. If I had a wolf, I'm sure it would have tear up Leah into pieces.
