I didn't fully process what had happened until I found myself downstairs.
Travis stood next to Katie's desk waiting for me. When he noticed my disheveled state, he smirked. Katie watched our silent exchange with wide eyes, her own smirk forming as she took in my wardrobe."Not one word." I shook my finger at him, turning and leaving the house. The walk back was eerily silent, not many people were wandering around the town square anymore.Travis was the first one to break the silence, "Their all getting ready for the party tonight. You won't really see anyone out and about at the moment." He pointed out."So, this event. Am I supposed to do anything?" I questioned, wondering if it was just a simple party.Travis gave me an expectant smile, "Well, if the Alpha has already met his mate, this is when she would be introduced and officially announced as Luna."I bit my lip nervously, knowing what the ceremony wouI was practically on cloud nine. Sure I squirmed under all of the eager eyes, but I felt like I finally had a place in the midst of everything.Of course, when you're feeling your best something has to come along and try to ruin that.I strayed from Killian's side for the first time since we arrived at the party, looking for Kira and also something to drink.I found what I was looking for at a table twenty feet away from where Killian stood. I couldn't make out his features any longer due to the volume of people mingling.I grabbed a pepsi for myself and sipped contently. My train of thought was broken when an absolutely gorgeous blonde woman approached me. Female werewolves all seem to look like supermodels. All werewolves are naturally fit from training, but each of them radiated with their own beauty. This woman was no exception. She had that perfect hourglass figure followed by defined cheek bones and full lips.S
The ride to the club was beyond awkward.A few of Kira's friends decided to join, along with Maria and her mate. Every seat was filled which meant I was stuck sitting on Killian's lap.I know, I know. After everything that we've done you'd think I wouldn't be so timid, but I am. It seemed that every time I was alone with Killian it was next to impossible to control myself.I felt my face flush as we hit yet another bump in the road, my bottom grinding into Killian's lap. I was all for public displays of affection but this was a little extreme. And of course, my traitorous mind thought back to what happened in that small room only moments earlier. I never had a good outlook on sex, but Killian seemed to chase all of that away. I felt safe with him, safe enough to let him take control. He changed my outlook on a lot of things."Claire, stop thinking about that." Killian's deep voice whispered in my ear, tinged with amusement.
Weeks passed by after the night we all went to the club.I began my duties as Luna and found that I really enjoyed them. I hadn't had anymore trouble in the pack after Rachel, but I also hadn't seen her since the incident. Everyone in the pack was quick to accept me, and I found myself wondering why I was so against being Luna in the first place. After the night club incident, I immediately began training. Killian insisted I at least learn how to defend myself, and also insisted I stop using my teeth as my main defense mechanism. While I was much smaller than the rest of the she-wolves, I was much faster and could maneuver easier. Killian would train me personally in the afternoons, and I had never met someone more skilled than him. Killian was absolutely lethal in a fight, and I stood no chance against him.Killian kept me updated on the situation regarding Blake, even if he didn't want to give me the gory details. I took my responsibilities as Luna
The next day Killian had woken up early to head to work. I'm assuming work most likely meant torturing Blake for information."No one appreciates sleep around here." I grumbled at Killian. I couldn't understand why anyone would refuse the offer of sleeping in.Killian chuckled at my grumpiness and smirked, "Good luck trying to sleep, Kira's in the kitchen waiting on you."I groaned and rolled over in bed, desperately trying to find the willpower to get up. Killian's bed had to be the most comfortable thing I had ever slept in."Get your ass up. I made breakfast and I don't just cook for anybody!" Kira's voice called out through the mind link."Kira," I whined "I didn't go to bed until after midnight.""I don't care how late you and my brother were up. That'll teach you not to be up all night doing the nasty." Kira snapped in my head."Ugh, you know we weren't doing that." I rolled my eyes at her.
Killian had driven the two of us back to the house, and all was quiet until we reached our bedroom. Before either of us could change, I pulled Killian close to me and said the words I had been waiting all night for."I can't thank you enough for this. No one has ever done so much for me." I sighed, hoping he could understand just a fraction of what I felt."You deserve so much more, Claire." His smile was soft and sweet, and yet again I was thankful that I got to see that side of him."I just-" I stopped, taking a deep breath. I let the words I had been wanting to say slip through my lips, damn the consequences."I love you, Killian." My voice came out soft, but i had never been more sure of anything. I could feel his shock radiate through my body, and the absolute joy that accompanied it.And before I knew it, I was swept away. Killian lifted me from the floor and had me against the wall. I wrapped my legs around his waist and
I opened my eyes to the sound of Killian's voice."Wake up, little mate. I have to leave for work." His chest rumbled with laughter. With a little groan, I lifted my head and looked into his silver eyes."Hm? Have a good day." I smiled sleepily. I wrapped my arms tighter around him and buried my head against his chest."Come on you sleepy little thing." Killian chuckled as he wrapped my legs around his waist and stood from the bed. A squeak of surprise left my lips."What are you doing?" I blushed, part of me hoping we would have a repeat of last night."We are getting a shower." Killian chuckled, "But don't think I wasn't planning on taking you again." His husky voice send shivers of desire down my spine.I sighed happily as Killian stepped into the hot shower with me in his arms. He set me on my feet and turned me around so my back was facing him.I was at a complete loss for words when he bega
The first thing I regained was my sense of smell.Earth, damp earth invaded my nose. Along with something metallic scented. It wasn't blood. The smell of blood was forever etched into my brain. This was something else.Unfortunately, the second sense that returned was touch. I could feel the sweat coating my body. My entire being burned, as though I was dipped in liquid fire. A simple twitch of my nose, or move of my finger sent the fire raging at new found heights.I kept my eyes clenched shut, praying to fall back into unconsciousness.I lost track of how many times I slipped in and out of awareness. Each time I was met with the same damp earth and metallic smell. Each time the fire cascading through my veins dimmed in the slightest. Finally, the fire had subsided. I felt delirious. How much had I sweated? My clothes felt soaked beneath my fingertips and despite falling in and out of consciousness, I was exhausted.
*Killian's p.o.v*I reluctantly left Claire in the morning and headed to work. Mine and Titan's longing for our little made was worse than ever. I assumed completing the mate bond had something to do with that.It was harder to focus on work, her angelic face popped into my mind every minute. I replayed the events of last night and had to fight the urge to hunt her down. I had never expected a mate as incredible as her. She's strong and compassionate all whist remaining innocent. She could be a little strange at times, but I found it adorable.I grunted in approval when Kira popped her head in and told me she was going to take Claire and Maria shopping. Claire needed a distraction, especially with the news I had to tell her. After countless days and nights of torture, Blake finally cracked. I wasn't surprised. I often kept him on the brink of death, but lucid enough to feel the pain I inflicted. The news he had given me set my teeth
