KILLIAN'S POV

"Killian..." A tap landed on me.

"Killian..." It came again.

And the last time, "Killian!"

I opened my eyes wide and sat up with a vehement force. I looked left and right. I was on the bed in the spacious master bedroom. Erika was beside me, fear all over her face.

"You were dreaming..." She said her eyes on my chest which slightly rose up and collapsed, again and again.

"What happened in your dream?" She asked me.

"Erika..." I said her name amidst my tattered breath.

"Yes, darling. What happened?" She replied.

"What's the time?" I asked her.

"It's still 5 am," she answered me.

I looked out through the window from the bed. Dawn was just by the corner. I could hear the whistles of the early morning birds from the nearby bushes.

"Erika," I said her name again, rummaging my hand over the nightstand to find the bedside lamp. Found it! I turned it on and looked at my chest covered in a cold sweat.

"I need to take my bath," I said, jumping down from the bed.

I went to the draw

ERIKA'S POVUnder the pouring sky, he stood with his hands tucked into the pockets of his coat. He feared neither the cold, the raging wind, nor the violent bangs of thunder."You don't have to stand under the rain until my husband returns," I said to Lord Aldres."Last I heard, he hasn't married you yet," he chuckled, "And don't worry, I'm good here.""As you can see, I'm pregnant with his kids," I said to him, but in a polite manner, "Please come in. I'm offering you hospitality.""Despite being organized in hierarchy, you werewolves lack a lot of ethics. How can you be pregnant for a man you're not wedded to?" He asked me, his voice ringing with sarcasm."Be mindful of how you speak to our Luna!" Trevor challenged. He and Ciro were with me as I came to bring the vampire lord into the house. Trevor held a black umbrella over my head so the rain wouldn't touch me."Please, come in, Lord Aldres," Ciro said, "Standing there under the rain will only make the children scared of you.""Wh

KILLIAN'S POVThe woman who had picked me up along the road was generous enough to drop me off at a road where I could get a cab to the city. Going further than that would mean starving her kids for a long time since there were barely any stores on that country road that led to the city.A few minutes after she dropped me off, I spotted a school bus going to the city. It was loaded with students. And when I tried to flag it down, the driver ignored me. But when he got to the city, he saw me coming down from his bus. Only the students had seen me hop on the back of the bus.“How in the good world did you—”“Have a nice day, Mister,” I said, walking away immediately. It had stopped raining, and the scorching sun had taken over. But at the same time, it lit the city with its perfect hue of daylight. I boarded a cab that took me to Miss Loy’s place.“Take,” I said to the driver, as I hunted a few notes from my breast pocket.“I can keep the change?” He asked enthusiastically.“Hell No!”

ERIKA'S POVAn unexpected loss. An unforeseen funeral. Killian hadn’t come out of his private quarters in days. No one dared to go, not even Ciro or I. He had eaten nothing for those past few days. It was counting from three to almost four now. He had totally blocked me and everyone else from the mind link.“Go and knock on his door,” I said to Lerah, “Tell him that I’m waiting at the dining table and that dinner is running cold.”I stayed at the dining table till it was bedtime. I had only eaten half of the portion I was served. I sighed when I glanced at the quartz wall clock hanging in the dining room. Tears began to trickle down my cheeks as the maids took tonight’s dinner away just like the previous day.“I swear, if he doesn’t come out tomorrow, I’ll keep that door and drag him out!” I gritted my teeth as I climbed on the bed with help from the maids.I found out the next morning that I wasn’t the only one who had vowed to get Killian out of that room where he had secluded hims

KILLIAN'S POVPreparations began for Elder Paul’s funeral. Out of the seven Elders who remained after Elder Jonas’ betrayal, we had only five left. The Elders were growing old, but their wisdom was still crucial to the pack’s survival. The funeral was fixed to come three days after the child dedication I had postponed. We needed to welcome new life before mourning the departed ones.I went to Elder Paul’s house and began to pack all the documents he had. I’d bring two people from the general apartment to occupy his house after the funeral. There was a heap of documents to be packed over, even though I didn’t intend to go through every one of them. That’d be such a hassle. His clothes were packed up in a big box, left for me to decide if we were going to burn them or do anything else with them.He didn’t have much property, only a few pieces of furniture, clothes, and his books. And then some strong wine in his refrigerator just like his brother whom I had learned from. His kitchen was

KILLIAN’S POVThe newborn child who had been saved by Erika from dying was dedicated to the moon goddess in her temple. Her body was still too tender and fragile, so the dedication had to be wrapped up fast in order to return her to the hospital where she had been under the doctor’s care for the past week. I’d give her my mark, but that’d be when her body had grown strong enough to withstand the pain marking came with. It wasn’t advisable to give newborn werewolves marks due to the burning of the mark as it appeared. One occasion was down, one left to go. I visited Uncle Paul’s house which was vacant now, except for the gigantic wardrobe in his room and the massive rug that covered the whole floor. For the past week, I had been receiving consolatory messages from different leaders in the supernatural world. All of them probably knew that Uncle Paul was a father figure to me.Lost in thoughts, I paraded the four walls of the empty building with my hands behind my back. I’d stop from

KILLIAN’S POVEven if the effects of the coffee had worn out, the content of the first document from Uncle Paul’s classified file holder wouldn’t let me sleep off. It was too engrossing to find out truths that agreed with something you’ve always suspected to be true.It seemed Uncle Paul had specially written that document for me. Thank goodness I had found the document at this time that the Congress wanted me to join them.So many things in the document were in accord with the suspicions I had about the Congress. Some of them were even deeper truths than I had expected. There were so many dark truths about the Congress— truths that’d turn the whole supernatural world against them if found out. One thing which I had suspected had proved to be true— that the man-eating werewolf which had attacked Erika in her room was from the Congress. It was an experiment of their creation that was intended to be able to defeat Alphas.“I knew it!” I said with a jerk of my folded fist. But the docume

KILLIAN'S POV Immediately I reached the top of the third hill which was relatively bigger than the other three, I sighed the Tijidan River. A bold smile covered my face and I felt so relieved. Finally, I'd get to meet the mage. The river sparkled from the distance, reflecting the brightness of the sun on its surface. It was just about thirty minutes walk from the last hill to the river. When I got there, I couldn't help but admire it more as I had gotten a very close view of it. I scouted the area for the part of the bank where the mage lived. There was a part of the riverbank where bamboo shrubs grew largely and a variety of birds flocked together there. Peeping carefully from afar, I noticed that there was a building hidden within the bamboo shrubs. That must be it. That must be the riverbank Mage's house. There was no time to waste. Quickly, I rushed over to the other side, and as soon as I got near enough to get a more convincing view of the area, the birds took flight, exposing

ERIKA'S POVThe day was almost gone. No one had seen or heard anything about Killian. No one knew where he had gone or when he had left the pack. My eyes were brimming with tears and my heart racing fast. Should anything bad happen to him, what would I do? And I had been having some bad dreams lately. Hope none of them was about to come true.I had walked to the bar to check him, to his uncle's house, to the two temples, and even to training, but I found no trace of him. All the guards were strong on their statement that he had not left through any of the gates."Erika, take it easy. I know Killian. Maybe something urgent has come up and he needs to deal with it before it can affect us," Ciro said to me."He has never left the pack like this; not for a single day. I'm pretty sure something has gone wrong," I cried."No. Don't say that. All we have to do now is to be tighter with our security until he returns," Ciro said to me, "if the enemies know that he's away now, they may strike."

I could feel my whole body getting numb already.Childbirth was really painful. I was still hurting from the expansion of my uterus during the first push. But there was still one more to go.However, the majority of my pain came from the things I sensed happening outside."Concentrate on pushing!" The doctor tapped me when he noticed my senses were detecting things happening outside.Soon, the head of the last baby had come out and the doctor was gently pulling him out."Yes! Almost there!" He shouted, "Keep going! Keep going!"A loud cry left my mouth and I squeezed every last ounce of strength in me and pushed out my last baby."Yay!" Even my wolf, Alek, could sense it."This is a bad idea, Killian," my wolf growled. But that wasn't the point where I'd care about it being a bad idea or not. I'd sworn on my life that not a single pregnant lady would get harmed. It didn't matter if the rest of us would die."I'd advise you shift immediately because you won't be able to scratch me with your human form," Sloane said to me.I smirked nervously."Don't get cocky! But the moment I swung my punch, Sloane had vanished from where he stood. My eyes widened in shock."Killian, behind you!" Ciro shouted.I turned around in midair and Sloane was coming at me. ERIKA'S POVThree months had passed after the battle with Aldres. The petition had been filed against the Congress and presented before every region of the supernatural world. Thus, the Congress became careful with their actions. The barrier had remained on since that day I set it up. It constantly drained my energy, but I barely got engaged in activities, so I didn't worry about it.Killian brought my food to the bed. He'd take me to the bathroom whenever I needed to use it. Whether I wanted to bathe or poop, he'd assist me.The doctor visited more frequently than usual. All the pregnant women were almost due. We had less than two weeks to give birth. But some of us had gone into labour already. More doctors were brought from But for the past three weeks, there had been news of constant killing and kidnapping in the supernatural world. KILLIAN’S POV“Don’t tell me you’re so weak, Alpha Killian. What was all that hype from the Congress about you? Look whom they told me to be careful while fighting,” Aldres spat. I could barely see with my eyes as I lay on the warm floor after receiving countless blows from the vampire.“Stand up,” he said to me, “stand up and fight! I want to give you an honorable end!”I staggered up and spat blood out of my mouth. My spine had shifted when Aldres dropped me from the sky, but I was able to squeeze it back in form when he was punching me on the floor.I took in a deep breath and closed my eyes shut, concentrating blood on the nerves of my ears, making my hearing ten times sharper. I needed to last longer in this battle so as to buy the pack enough time to escape. With my sense super-heightened now, I suddenly sense Erika in the house. What was she doing there? But my panic eased a bit when I sensed Trevor’s presence there as well. Whatever they were doing there, they needed to be fa

ERIKA’S POVThe battle between Killian and the Vampire Lord had begun after Killian saved Edward from his head being blasted away by the vampire Lord. The vampire looked like he was still in shape like it had taken him nothing to beat Edward Blue and Black. In the first few seconds of their battle, they were evenly matched. Killian was even able to land two blows on the vampire lord.“Your moves aren’t as fast as they should. What’s wrong?” Killian asked him after landing the second blow.“Who’s going to go down first?” Lord Aldres said to him with a smile.Killian shook his head, “I overestimated you vampires.”With that, he launched himself at the vampire lord with full force and landed him with a kick. But Aldres was able to catch that kick with his arms.“Not quite heavy,” he smirked.Wing emerged from his back immediately and he flew into the air dragging Killian by the legs. Ascending to a very high altitude, he let go of Killian, and Killian came falling from the sky.Aldrs had

KILLIAN'S POVAfter making out with Erika, I slept soundly that night. But when I woke up the next morning, I had a whim that something was not right. The soldiers who had been on watch the previous night hadn't alerted me of any enemy presence. But inwardly, I kept feeling like the enemy had already come.I stood up from the bed and walked to the wardrobe, pulling out a black shirt and black trousers. I looked back at the bed, Erika was still fast asleep. Dressed up, I gently opened the room door and sneaked out of the room. My plan was to go to the outskirts of the pack and wait there for the Vampire Lord's arrival. If the battle commenced there, that'd give my pack enough time to make the escape preparations. However, when I stepped outside of the house, I sensed someone's pain come over and over again. It suddenly flashed through my mind that the pain I sensed was Edward's. It was then that I realized that the Vampire Lord had already arrived and Edward was doing the exact same

ERIKA'S POVThe next day was going to be the day that the Vampire Lord would come to battle Killian. The Elders knew nothing about this. Killian had found it difficult to rest throughout the day.In the evening, Killian went to the bar and kept drinking until I sent a servant to tell him that I needed his attention at home.He came back home, half drunk, his hair messy and his mouth reeking of liquor as he spoke."What are you doing, drinking when there's a battle to face tomorrow?" I asked him, "Is that what we should be doing by now?""Is it wrong to drink my last wine?" Killian countered my question with his own."Not actually. But you're overdoing it. What if the enemy shows up before then?" I asked worriedly."Aldres is a man of his words. He won't even come close to the perimeters of this area until tomorrow," Killian said, sounding so sure of someone whom h barely knew anything about."Please, there are better things we could do now," I beckoned on him."Like what? ERIKA'S POVThat night, Amiel visited me in my dream. She summoned me to the top of a rocky hill that had water running out from every rock on it. We sat on two rocks, discussing, while water rushed below our feet. The sound of the running water became somewhat of a distraction. Amiel waved her palm over the water and every drop froze where they were. Even the tiniest drops in the air froze and hung there."Wow," I gasped softly, "you're amazing.""Thank you," she said with a chivalrous smile."So, what happened with the mermaid queen?" I asked her.She giggled softly, "We no longer fought.""Ah... Why?""She submitted. We were two and she was all alone," Amiel said."I heard the mermaid queen is very powerful. I heard she controls the whole ocean," I said to Amiel."No. She's not that powerful. She doesn't even rule the whole ocean," Amiel said. "There are other beings in the water whom she is terrified of. And that's why she seeks more power.""Hmm... Really," I said. "So, would yo

KILLIAN'S POV I took to my feet immediately, rushing back to the house. I only knew little about pregnancy, but I had kept an accurate record of how long she had been pregnant. It was just six months. Was it normal for the baby in the womb to start moving? I couldn't tell for sure. But her voice seemed disturbed. When I got to the house, I barged into the room to see Erika's belly bulging up and down."What is this?" I gasped. It looked so outrageous like the baby was kicking her from inside. But what was more outrageous was that Erika wasn't feeling any pain from that."He's talking, but I can't hear him," Erika said to me. How did she know it was a "he"?"I think his Father will be the one to understand him," she said to me.Curiously, I walked closer to the bed and placed my ear on Erika's belly listening."Father, you're in danger!" A shriek flew into my ears.I shuddered back immediately, falling on the floor. That was when the kick suddenly quieted down."What happened?" Erika
