The maid was tired of being tortured. They had used all manner of tools to punish her but she remained adamant. She was still insisting that she was the one who had come up with the idea of poisoning Maya. She was even willing to show them where she had gotten the poison. It was night time when the majority of the wolves had gone running. The maid could see the moon shining brightly, she wished she was outside. As much as she hated Maya, she wished she had not taken Amber up on her offer to poison Maya. Her wolf was itching to join the hunt outside but she could not. She had to concentrate by hearing the howling of the other wolves and imagining the window running through her dark furs.Where was Amber? She better she was out running with other wolves as she was in the dungeons waiting for the guards to come back and torture her some more. She hated Amber, she had lured her into this and now she was a no show.Someone was coming, she held her breath and listened. The footsteps stoppe
Chapter 95Maya walked towards the woods. Her fight with Killian had made her so angry she was almost trembling. She needed to release the anger and what better way to do it than run in the woods. If she did not, she would do something she would regret and she was trying to be better. She had always been cautioned against her anger, reacting before thinking things through. She would deal with Killian later, they had to talk. She was not going to allow him boss her around just because he was an Alpha. She was Luna and was not going to let him forget that. He could order his people around and not her. She deserved respect as his equal and if he could not offer it, then she was going to demand it. She was almost nearing the woods when she spotted two figures in the dark. They seemed to be engaged in a heated argument. At first she could not make their faces because they were turned away from her. She moved closer and realised it was Amber and Marcus. They were whispering and she could n
Amber paced impatiently. She hated when she fought with Marcus, it made her jittery and unsettled. She had been trying to make him see reason yet he was adamant that she had been hasn't in making a decision that could have destroyed them both if discovered. She wanted to be done with this Maya business before the engagement ceremony. Luna had not been helpful.Marcus opened the door slowly and entered the room. He found Amber seated on the bed, her knees moving in sync with her hands."I have been waiting for you." Amber said."I am here now." Marcus said nonchalantly."We could have finished this conversation but that just had to come out of nowhere, as always. We were doing okay with Killian when she butted in." Amber started complaining."Is that why you wanted to poison her? Because she took Killian away from you?" Marcus asked."Don't be ridiculous. I am with you. You are my mate. The relationship between Killian and I is dead, old news. I...""Why did you do it then?" Marcus cut
Maya felt refreshed after the run. All she needed now was a hot bath, fresh clothes and some warm food to give her the willpower to square out things with Killian. She picked a towel and was headed to the bathroom when Killian waylaid her. One moment he was not there, the next minute he was in front of her. She almost toppled over."Oops! I did not see you there." Maya said as she picked up the towel that had fallen from her shoulders.Killian sniffed another scent of Maya even before he reached her. It made his blood boil with a lot of questions."Whose scent is that?" Killian asked angrily."You did not even apologise for almost knocking me over." Maya accused."I asked you a question Maya, don't play games with me. Whose scent is that on you?" Killian repeated, loudly this time."Don't get your knickers in a twist Killian. I went for a run and bumped into Lord Stephano." Maya explained. Killian's anger was starting to irritate him.She had been in a good mood after the run, now she
"I must go visit Killian." Luna Miranda told Bianca. She had been thinking of what to do about the Sebastian situation. The idea of visiting Killian had just sprung up in her mind and she felt it was the right thing to do."When are we leaving?" Bianca asked innocently."We? I will be going alone. You stay here and take care of the mansion." Luna Miranda said."If you say so. When are you going?" Bianca asked grudgingly."Right this minute. I want to arrive before Killian leaves for his rounds." Luna Miranda said as she threw in a few clothes in her bag. Luna Killian arrived before Killian left for his daily rounds just as she had predicted and wanted. Some of the old maids from the previous alpha's era recognized her and went to welcome her. They wanted to help with her meager luggage but she shooed them away."I can carry my own bag. Pretentious rats." She trotted into the common living room and found Killian, Marcus and others having a brief meeting."Now, just ensure that nobody
Killian was worried about Maya. How was she going to take the news of his mother living with them? The relationship between Maya and his mother was not cordial. Luna Miranda had hated Maya from the moment she had met her, how were they going to breathe the same air? Killian had accepted Luna Miranda back just because she was his mother and had been remorseful about her past behaviours. Luna Miranda had wanted to hug him for accepting her back but Killian had brushed off the hug. He had agreed to let her stay, but was not about to start being friendly with her. Besides, she had never shown him any affection from his childhood. She was giving him the residue of love and affection Sebastian had left.He found Maya brushing her hair. He took the brush from her. "Let me help you." Killian said as he ran his fingers through Maya's hair. Maya handed him the brush."I wanted to talk to you about something." Killian said as he gently ran the brush through Maya's hair."I am all ears. What i
The more Maya listened, the more she was convinced that the servants were talking about her. They had not felt her presence nor her scent, she loved it that way. She listened some more."Did you hear that Sebastian left the pack?" The servant on the left said."Yes I did. And I know it is because of her. She should have left instead of Sebastian." Her counterpart contributed."She should have. I really loathe her. I do not know what Alpha Killian sees in her. She is not even beautiful." The first servant said."I think she bewitched him. I hear her people are partly witches. She might have smuggled in a strong charm and used it on the Alpha." "You could be right. Otherwise Alpha Killian would not have looked at her twice." Another servant who had been quiet all along said."And the way she walks around this place with her nose held high you'd think she is something. She is not yet Luna but she already treats us like garbage." The first servant said. This was a lie because Maya barely
Maya didn't know what to feel. On one hand, she really hoped Killian could at least soften his heart and retract his decision of banishing the maids from the pack. After losing what she called home, she could understand how it feels and she did not wish that for anyone, even her enemy. On the other hand, she knew that Killian was right. The people needed to be taught how to respect her. As an Alpha male, taking pity on those two could be seen as softness and that could encourage the others to go against his words. As long as they could be forgiven after pleading. That was not something she wanted for Killian. Being indecisive could lead to his people questioning his authority and ability to lead the people. She watched as Killian walked away without even turning to look at her.Walking back to the maids, she could only pity them." Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do to help you. Take this as a lesson. Wherever you are, you have to respect authority. I hope you have a smooth life
