No longer interested

Later that night ....

Xander walked over to Maximilian house again and knocked impatiently on his door.

"Are you sure you're not hiding Lyra?!" Xander asked immediately Maximilian opened the door.

"Why would I want to do that?!"

"I'm sorry, I don't trust you!" Xander replied as he walked into Maximilian's house.

"I'm gonna have to search here myself, I know you would do whatever Lyra asks you!"

"And for all I know, she might be hiding here, she knows no other place in town!" He said and Maximilian shook his head vehemently as he rushed in after him.

Maximilian blocked Xander's path, his expression a mix of fear and concern.

"Xander, this is ridiculous. I told you before, I haven't seen Lyra since she left the hospital crying."

"I too I'm worried!"

Xander shoved him aside and continued his search. He rummaged through the living room and kitchen, throwing open cabinets and drawers, but found nothing.
