Chapter One Hundred and Ten - Not The Only Human

Amy’s POV

Lisa had broken Kane’s ‘curfew’, though that was the least of my worries. Velma had turned up out of the blue with her partner, Ray. It seemed they were on the run from a very pissed off father: Zena’s.

“You sent her to the dogs!” was the least unpleasant thing he’d had to say on the subject.

I looked at Mom’s huge curls and clumpy mascara with distaste.

What did she expect me to do about it with the weight of pack opinion, not to mention the Werewolf Elders, on my case?

Ray was decent enough, a balding man with a comb-over and a crushing handshake.

“One night only,” I said, knowing I was likely to weaken in the morning. “I’ll have a couple camp beds set up in one of the meeting rooms. Don’t worry, we have surveillance.”

“What are you tryin’ to say?” Velma asked.

“For your own protection.”

“We’re not thieves, you know, Ray and me.”

I found the business card lying on the floor of the reception room once Jake had done the decent thing and taken them out of my sight.
