Chapter seven: my darkness, my light
'That's enough from you! I've left her alone!'
Abraxas, his wolf paced angrily, it's eyes flashing silver. It hadn't spoke a word, but Kai could feel the pain blooming in his chest. It made him restless and even more angry.
Pain, he hadn't even show her a tenth of the pain he had suffered at her father's hand.
Kai went and took a cold shower, hoping it would help calm his nerves down. He could hear Karen's cries reverbating in his ears. He could still feel her body trembling under the force of his hands.
He had hoped that inflicting pain on her would make him feel better.
"Fuck " He hissed, punching the bathroom wall. The tiles broke under the weight of his palm.
He didn't feel better at all. Not for any reason.
Someone came up behind him, their hands snaking around his mid riff.
"What has you so worked up?" A soft feminine voice whispered.
Kai felt some of his tenseness dissolve. "Verena," he said and took her hand in his. "What are you doing here?"
"Hmm, I don't know." Verena said and kissed his shoulder blade. "I felt my love becoming restless and very very...." Her hand trailed down to his v line, her fingernails lightly scraping his skin "....angry."
"I'm not in the mood, Verena " Kai said, annoyance seeping into his tone.
"Oh really?" She said and grabbed his semi hard cock. "Who said you have to be in the mood?"
Kai grabbed her and spun her around, slamming her into the wall. She stared up at him, her eyes like molten gold. She had a smile on her red lips, her eyes hazy with lust. Her long, waist length red hair was wet and sticking to her face and naked body.
Kai felt a thrill run through his body. But something was missing. Something he couldn't place.
"I'm not in a good mood." Kai said, a warning in his tone. "You should leave. Now."
"But I don't want to." Verena said with a coy smile. "Let me relieve your pain, my master."
Kai stared at her long and hard. He was angry. He was riled up. It took a lot of self control not to use his full strength on Karen. He was sure she wouldn't have survived it.
Verena was stronger, she was the only one who could handle him.
Kai thought of Karen and anger sparked in his heart again. Why was he feeling pity towards her?! Her father is the very reason he turned out this way!
"Turn around." He said to Verena.
She turned, her eyes glinting as she did. Kai planted a soft kiss on her shoulder, a sort of apology for what he as about to do to her.
"I won't go gentle on you" he whispered in her ear.
"I don't expect you to."
***
Karen pulled herself off the floor, wincing in pain as she did. She had no idea how long she had laid on the cold floors.
Everywhere ached. And her tears refused to flow anymore.
A knock sounded on the door, three times. Karen didn't have the energy to bother.
"I'm coming in." A male voice said.
Karen grabbed her nightdress and pulled it over her body. She used her last strength to push her back up against the wall. Her heart started racing, she didn't want another man to ever see her naked.
The door opened to reveal a man. He was tall but not as tall as Kai. He had soft green eyes and long black hair that flowed down his back. His face was kind and he was smiling. He carried a tray that had a bundle of clothes on it and some water.
Karen felt like she was thrown off balance. His face seemed very oddly familiar, but she couldn't place where she had seen him.
"Hello Karen," He said. "My name is Nicolas, you can call me Nick if you want."
Karen swallowed. She didn't know how to react to his kindness. She looked at him, trying to gauge his true intentions.
She read nothing.
"....hi" she said, her throat feeling dry.
"Water?" He asked, offering her the glass.
She gripped her torn gown harder to her chest. Her gaze travelled between the glass of water and Nicolas' kind green eyes.
A spark of fear ignited in her heart.
Something about Nicolas screamed danger, all her senses alerting her to run.
She reached out and took the glass of water. She drank the water slowly, trying to taste for poison. Her mind drifted back to a time her father had poisoned her water with wolfsbane.
"Drink it," He had hissed at her, forcing the liquid down her throat as he held the back of her head.
Karen blinked, the image of her father's enraged face vanishing from her mind.
The water tasted okay, it wasn't poisoned.
"Thank you." She said quietly and returned the glass.
"There's nothing to thank me for." Nicolas said simply and took back the glass. "Get dressed, Alpha Kai requires your presence."
Fear gripped Karen's heart. "What does he want?" She asked, her mind going back to the sore ache between her legs.
Nicolas smiled. Karen noticed that his smile didn't reach his eyes. "I don't know, but I'm sure you'll find out soon." He took the bundle of clothes form the tray and handed it over to Karen. "Wear these."
Karen looked at the clothes. Instantly repulsion filled her. She knocked it out of his hands, her face turning red.
"You can tell your alpha to wear it himself." She spat dangerously.
Nicolas was still smiling. But Karen didn't miss the darkness that came into his eyes.
"Do you want me to recount that word for word?" He asked, his voice very chilly. "I give you thirty seconds and he would be making sure you never speak again, or go against his orders."
Karen gasped. The waves of animosity she felt coming from Nicolas felt choking.
"Consider yourself lucky he has kept you alive this long." Nicolas said and rose to his feet, taking the tray and the empty glass with him. "I certainly won't be so merciful."
"You call this merciful?!" Karen yelled. "He keeps me locked up in here for what I didn't do! I am not my father! I didn't...."
"Of course you didn't, Princess." Nicolas said.
Karen stumbled back, her heart rate spiking.
Princess.
He had just called her princess.
His tone was so oddly familiar, yet she couldn't place it. Where had she seen him? Where?!
"You and your alpha can wear that dress to hell." Karen spat, her eyes narrowed in anger.
Nicolas smiled, his eyes narrowing into green slits. "You have ten minutes to get ready and meet me outside." He said and turned to leave.
Karen stared at the dress knocked to the side. Tears filled her eyes. As if humiliating her and forcefully taking her virginity wasn't enough, he wanted to parade her as a slut.
She got to her feet, her knees shaking. Her legs felt weak and her core exploded in pain. She limped to the small sink in the room and tried to get as much blood of her thighs as she could. She stared at her reflection and her heart broke.
She couldn't recognize the girl that stared back at her. Her hazel looked lifeless and dull. Her hair that was once a rich golden color was dull and tangled. She averted her gaze, not wanting to look anymore.
She cleaned up as much as she could and picked up the gown. There was a pair of underwear with it, a flimsy lace panty and matching bra. The gown was frilly, full of black and red lace. It was short, barely covering her ass.
Karen had never felt so exposed in her life. This was even worse than being naked.
She wore the gown and stood before her mirror.
She hated what she saw in it.
She cleared her throat and held her head high. If he wanted to humiliate her, she wouldn't give him the satisfaction.
He had no idea what she had suffered at the hands of her own father.
She brushed out the tangles in her hair with her fingers. Deeming herself ready, she walked out of the room. Nicolas was outside. He turned and looked at her from top to bottom.
His eyes held no emotion whatsoever. Karen felt like a piece of furniture again.
"Not so much of a princess now are you?" He asked.
Karen didn't react.
He turned and led her to Kai's presence. The closer they got, the more she felt his intimidating aura seep through her body. It made her shiver and remember the pain he had forced on her, pain that was still fresh in her body.
Nicolas got to a door and threw it open. It revealed a magnificent throne room. At the end of the throne room was Kai, looking regal and majestic. There was a woman perched on his lap like a dainty flower.
Karen felt her breath hitch. The woman was beautiful, her hair like fire and her eyes like liquid gold. She had an innocent, dreamy look on her face as she stared at Karen.
"Is this the new slave?" She asked, her voice airy and sweet.
"You should bow." Nicolas whispered to Karen.
Karen had never bowed for any man. She stared at Kai, her eyes flashing defiance.
"Oh my!" The woman cooed, clapping her hands. "She's a feisty one! Can I have her, please Alpha, please?"
"Why?" Kai replied, his cold eyes on Karen.
"I want a session with her. Just a light session. I promise." The woman said.
Kai turned to her. "Fine."
The woman hopped off his lap and moved over to Karen. She moved like the wind, swift and silent. She peered into Karen's face, a smile on her red lips.
"Hello, slave."
Nicolas chuckled. "Too late now." He said under his breath. "Don't say I never told you to bow."
"Go to hell." Karen hissed.
The woman's eyes widened. "Oh honey," She said softly. "That's where you're heading now."
Chapter eight: freak of natureWow! Nicolas, are you seeing this?" Verena said, clapping in excitement. Blood stained her clothes and face, none of which was hers. In front of her was a half conscious Karen, her clothes torn and bloody from the number of times the corded whip had torn into her skin."Yes, I am." Nicolas replied coolly, his eyes scanning Karen's form."She's like some sort of cockroach." Verena said in awe, her liquid gold eyes observing Karen. She turned to Nicolas and said: "I think she's about to die though, soon we'll have a dead cockroach on our hands.""Oh dear," Nicolas said with a soft laugh. "I don't think alpha Kai would like that very much."Verena giggled. "Oops."Karen felt her entire body on fire. Her breaths came out short and hard. She raised her head up and stared at Verena and Nicolas.Verena looked like an angel, but she was a cold hearted devil. Karen had lost track of time, she wasn't sure how long it had been since Verena had started her little 's
Chapter nine: just how ruthlessKaren had a dream. A dream of her father, and the mother she had killed coming into the world."A girl?!" Her father shouted as the mid wife presented the bloody bundle to him. "Your child, alpha." The midwife said. Grown up Karen watched, feeling light as a feather as her father took one look at baby Karen and hissed in anger. "That thing is no child of mine! She wasn't supposed to be born! How can my heir be a girl?! It's unheard of! It's unnatural!"The midwife took a look at the baby girl. She was quiet, her eyes barely open, a serene look on her face. Oblivious to the world she had just come into, oblivious to the hatred her father had for her.Suddenly her father turned and looked straight at Grown up Karen."How is life now, you mother killing freak?" He barked, his face contorted in anger. He charged at her, claws drawn and ready to tear her apart.Karen's eyes flew open. A bucket of ice water was thrown on her making her Yelp and sit up insta
Chapter ten: talk back to me"Alpha, you still have other meetings with the scouts." Nicolas said, watch as Kai grabbed Karen by her hair and rose to his feet. Karen voice pierced through the room, hitting Kai hand and trying to break free. Nicolas found it amusing. It looked like a bug fighting a lion."How many more of them do I have to attend?" Kai asked, his voice unfazed by Karen's struggling."Let me go! Dammit!" Karen screamed, her voice booming through the empty throne room. "About five more." Nicolas said. "Supposed there are no more interruptions from them."Kai glanced at Karen. He dragged her up and peered into her face. "Be quiet." He said, his voice filled with animosity.Karen glared at him, but her lips were shut. Kai turned to Nicolas. "Take care of this." He said and tossed Karen at him. Nicolas caught her , his eyes narrowing at Kai."And what should I do with her?""Hello?! I'm like, right here?!" Karen yelled."Lock her up or something." Kai said dismissively.
Chapter eleven: painfulKaren crept through the dungeons as silently as she could, searching for Eve. She held a bundle close to her chest, inside was bread and some water she had managed to sneak out of the kitchen when Inez wasn't being a bitch and breathing down everyone's neck."Princess?" A voice whispered sternly. Karen paused and crept back to the cell she had walked past. "Eve!" She whispered, a smile spreading on her face. "I've been looking for you!" "What are you doing here?" Eve said, she looked around, her eyes flashing alarm. "If they find you here they'll hurt you."Karen felt her heart break as she started at Eve. She looked like a ghost of herself. Her hair was ashy, and her skin was pale. There were cuts on her face, and as much of her body as Karen could see was littered in bruises. It hurt her to see the most powerful warrior she knew reduced to a shell of herself."They hurt you..." Karen whispered, tears filling her eyes."Princess," Eve said with a soft laugh.
Chapter twelve: a wolf is a wild dogKaren slowly got up from the floor, wincing as her core screamed in protest. She looked down at her thighs, and her eyes widened in horror. Her thighs were bloody and bruised, handprints engraved deep into her flesh. Karen felt her heart skip. There was no way she could hide those marks with the ridiculous outfit she had to wear. She tried to get up but tripped in her blood and fell, hitting her head on the floor. She winced in pain, crying out softly. Her eyes went out of focus for a few seconds before her head started to heal itself. Karen felt like she was dead and still alive at the same time. She tried to get up again and was able to sit up. She cried out in pain as her thighs and core hurt like hell. It dawned on her that they weren't healing. Panic flashed through her. Her body never had a problem in the past healing major injuries. Things like small cuts and bruises took their time, but they were just minor inconveniences. It had been n
Chapter thirteen: A sliver of hope "It will take a few days for your injuries to heal." The healer announced after examining Karen. "Why?" Karen asked. The elderly woman shrugged. "If you don't understand your body, how do you expect me to?" Karen hugged her body close. "Can you at least give me some herbs to ease the pain?" "I tried, I applied a salve on you, the tea you just drank was supposed to help." The healer said with a sigh. "They aren't working on you." Karen sighed heavily. "I'm doomed." After the throne room incident, it had been two days. Kai summoned Karen again. Karen was scared, but had to obey him. She tried, she really tried to ignore the pain. But she couldn't hold it in for long and started crying. He sent for the healer. And here she was, with no solution. "So I should just suffer till it heals?" Karen asked. "That's what it looks like." The healer said with a sigh. "I'm really sorry I can't help, okay?" Karen nodded. "It's all my fault. If
Chapter fourteen: back to zero"Take care of them." Kai said to the head guard. "I have no room for Rogues.""Yes, my alpha." The head guard replied and bowed . "Wait," Karen said and turned to look at him. "You'll kill them?""They're rogues now." Kai simply replied. "Nicolas, let's go." Nicolas nodded and followed behind Kai. Karen ran after them, trying to talk to Kai."My alpha, they're..."Kai paused and turned to her sharply. She gasped, taking a step back. His eyes were filled with anger as he glared at her. "How many times do I have to tell you? I am not you alpha. You are not a member of my pack. I am your master.""My master...those people are my people...""Quiet a thing for you to say." Kai snapped and continued walking. Karen raced after him. "I...I want to go back with them." She said quietly. Kai stopped and faced her. "Say that again."Karen should have kept quiet. She should have apologized for saying that. She really should have backtracked and said that it was
Chapter fifteen: a crack in the iceVerena knocked on the door to Kai's suite, a smile on her face. Finally. He had finally summoned her! At long last!"Come in." Kai said. She walked in and instantly froze. Lying on the couch was Karen, naked. She was asleep, and Verena could see the bruises on her body very slowly vanishing.Verena swallowed her anger and made her way to Kai. He was at his desk, working. Even though it was past midnight. AVerena bowed. "My alpha, here I am.""Take your clothes off," Kai said simply. Verena was more than happy to comply. She took of every piece of clothing and went on her knees in front of him. At the back of her mind she wished that Karen would wake up and see the two of them together. That would be perfect."Come here." Kai said, a strain in his voice.Verena's heart leapt with joy to know that he wanted her as much as she wanted him. She got to her feet and moved over to him, proceeding to kneel in front of him. His eyes gazed upon her, his
Chapter seventy four: the finale "Stay with David." Kai said to Karen. He got out of bed, and Karne could see his muscles taunt with tension. David got out if bed and ran to Karen's side hugging her legs tightly. "Kai I can fight!" "I'm not saying you can't," Kai wore a shirt and turned to her. She sobbed, the shirt was already soaking with blood. "Look at me, please " She raised her head and met his eyes. "You are my entire world now." He said. "I know you're strong, Karen. You are an alpha yourself, no matter how many times they try to convince you otherwise." "Let me fight...please. I don't want anything to happen to you!" "Nothing will happen to me okay. But if anything happens to you or David or our unborn child, I could never live with myself." Karne bit her lip to try and control her sobs. "Kai..." "Nicolas will be here with you," Kai turned to Nicolas. "Please," Nicolas nodded. "We have to move though, we can't stay here. I'll take you and Verena and we can leave."
Chapter seventy three: a noveltyKaren watched, her heart in her mouth as Kai stood from the bed. He lost his footing, Karne rushed forward to help him but he raised a hand telling her not to"Let me help you." She Said softly."I'm not an invalid." He growled in frustration. "I can walk myself "He stood up straight, his knees wobbling a bit. Karen sighed. It had been two days since he woke up, and it hadn't been easy for either of them.Karen followed beside Kai, watching him in case he didn't anything. He had a determined look on his face as he took one step after the other."Kai you're not rested enough yet."Karen tried to talk some sense into him, any sense at all."My pack is under attack" Kai said. "I can't be in bed and watch them get hurt.""You could get hurt. Seriously. You have a gaping wound in your chest!""I'm fine." He growled. But he winced, his hand going up to the bandages on his chest. "I can rest after we havi victory."Even in his state Kai still assumed control
Chapter seventy two: two goodsThat's a new scar, Karen thought to herself as she watched Kai's bandaged chest rise and fall in step with his breathing. The healer had concluded her business some minutes ago and left, leaving Kai, Nicolas and Karen alone. Karen sat by his bed, holding his had and watching his face. His skin looked ashy and he looked like he had lost weight in hours. Karen could see the back tendrils of poison spreading across his skin. It was oddly reminiscent to the time her father had given her her permanent scar. She had no idea what he used, if it was even poison or not. But today had confirmed that it is indeed poison."You should get some rest " She heard Nicolas said beside her. "I can't when he's like this...""Karen,""No." She refused. "I'll be here. I can't go."Nicolas sighed. "Very well." She thought he was leaving but he pulled a chair and sat beside her. "Don't wait alone in that case."Karen nodded, trying to smile and failed. She didn't get a wink
Chapter seventy one: yoga"Alpha Kai, you ask the impossible." Rasmus was quick to say the moment Kai had finished presenting his case to the counsel."How is it impossible?" Kai asked glancing at the faces of the alpha kings. "This man is acting on his own, joining forges with Lycan and trying to cause a war. And me asking for your judgment is impossible."There rose murmurs form the alpha's. Kai was starting to feel that coming here was a bad idea. But if he took major decisions without the council, they will brand him an insubordinate. Their double standard was disgusting."We don't even have proof if his plans with the lycans!" Rasmus said. "This is all word of mouth!"The council murmured in agreement.Kai sighed and rubbed his temples. This was why he liked to do things on his own. But the time they were done arguing and pointing fingers and talking about pointless things, it would be too late to do anything ."And besides," Rasmus did. "Reports reached us that you killed a huma
Chapter seventy: truths and scaresKaren turned to the servant. "Verena is looking for me?""Yes miss." The servant replied. Karen turned to Kai. "You may go. It could be urgent."Karen nodded. She kissed the top of David's head. "Go on and have dinner without me. I'll join you soon.""Okay mommy." David said with a smile. "I'll save some chia seeds for you."Karen chuckled. "I'm sure you will."She turned and walked down the hallway, heading to Verena's room. Karen had no idea what exactly had happened, but she had been able to heal Verena. It felt that way to her, she felt a kind of energy transferring for her to Verena. And then she had passed out. Or maybe she was imagining it.She got to Verena's room to see her sitting up in bed, Nicolas feeding her some soup. "You're awake." Karen said with a controlled smile.Verena turned to her and smiled. "Karen, hi. Come in please ."Karen walked in and shut the door behind her. Verena turned to Nicolas"Babe could you please give us so
Chapter sixty nine: family first"He's my son..." Kai gasped, the paper slipping out of his hands. He looked at Karen, his eyes full of shock."I told you " Karen replied. She looked down at the boy in her arms and her eyes softened. "He's yours"Kai walked up to her, his eyes on the child. "Put your hands down," He commandedThe boy obeyed, wide eyes staring into his. Those eyes....there were exactly his eyes. Kai felt silly. How could he have not recognized him since?! Kai glanced at Karen, but her eyes were on her son...their son....Kai turned and bolted out of the room. He felt choked up with emotion, not trusting himself in that moment. He had a sonHe had a son with Karen. The very same woman he was losing his mind over. Kai felt like he was dreaming. He had to be dreaming. For four years, four years he'd had a child. "Kai! Wait up!" Nicolas ran up to his side, trying to keep up with his strides. "What's wrong?" Nicolas asked, peering into his face. "What's wrong?" Kai pa
Chapter sixty eight: revelations"Okay, hold up." Karen said. "What is going on here?"Kai glared at her so coldly that she felt her blood freeze. "You know exactly what I'm talking about!""Well I would if you would just talk to me and stop being so damn passive agressive!""Mommy what's passive agressive?" David asked sweetly."Not now baby " Karen replied. She wasn't about to have this conversation with her child in the room. "Baby, how about you go outside and okay okay? Mommy has something to discuss with this man.""Okay he said with a smile. "I'll come and find you later and...""Not so fast." Kai growled. He grabbed the boy by the scruff of his neck and held him up."Kai," Karen said with worry. She got out of bed and tried to get closer to him"Stay right there." Kai hissed at her. He brought the boy up and stared at him. To his greatest surprise, the boy was calm, his blue eyes staring deep into Kai's."Hi," He said with a smile and a small wave. "I'm David, what's your name
Chapter sixty seven: healerIt took a while for Nicolas to calm down. "Not a word of this to anyone." He said to karen as he composed himself. Karen nodded. "Your secret is safe with me.""She'll be fine" Kai said to Nicolas. "I'll make sure of it. For you.""Thank you," Nicolas replied. Kai got to his feet and turned to Karen. "Let's go " He said, his eyes hard.Karen felt a bit afraid. "Okay."That night she slept beside David, only able to get two hours of sleep. She made a mental note to ask the healer for some sleeping potions. The next day, Kai mobilized his warriors. Karen met him in the field as he was addressing the warriors. She waited patiently for him to be done before going up to him ."What's going on?" She asked, confusion on her face."We're sending forces to Asher's pack for yesterday.""A war?!" She whispered"We will soon see." He said and brushed past her, walking away.Karen didn't like how cold he was. Ever since the previous night, he had been like this. Eve
Chapter sixty six: coming home"What do you mean by that?" Kai asked, narrowing his eyes at Asher. "Yeah," Verena said. "You didn't rescue him out of the kindness of your heart? Then why did you bother at all? What is going on here?""You're children have a lot to learn." Asher scoffed. "Everyone knew of Zeke's appetite and behavior. No One really paid him any heed. Especially not the counsel. But when I heard who his newest obsession was, I had to get in.""You're a disgusting pig." Nicolas said, his eyes wide. "You were in on it, all along. Weren't you?""In on what? Of course not. Rescuing you two was only for my benefit. Nothing else. I couldn't care less if you both perished or not.""You can't be serious." Verena gasped. "And all these years you....""Prepared a plan for my only daughter to be a Luna." Asher finished with a flourish. "And you had to ruin it.""You son of bitch " Kai growled and lounged forward attacking Asher. The brothers fell on him, trying to pin him down. H
