SCARLETT :

No matter how much he threatened to punish me, I still came to work. Almost every day I'm at his office, in his car letting him do wicked things to my body.

Rosie still calls, and he waits till I'm there before he picks up, not to spite me, but to show where his temporary loyalty lies.

I had begun to search for ridiculous things on the internet, like ‘how to make a man fall in love with you in sixty days.’

The results were simple:

Days 1-10: Build a Foundation. Days 11-20: Foster Trust and Comfort. Days 21-40: Deepen the Bond. Days 41-60: Reflect and Let Things Flow.

Days one to ten were gone without me realizing or deciphering what kind of foundation we had laid down for ourselves. Days eleven to twenty were almost gone, and I don't know if what I was feeling was trust or comfort. Heck, I had no idea what Alpha Jax was feeling.

All he did was summon me wherever he was, in his chamber, or get his chauffeur to bring me to his cabin. Sometimes he'd be gentle, sometimes he'd b

SCARLETT :"Women aren't toys. I'm not one, don't talk down on me like that," I blurted out of rage. "Go find someone your size to wage war with; you're sick in the head."Alpha Jax looked at me, shocked and satisfied."Are you really going to let a filthy omega talk down to royal blood?" Logan told his brother, his voice sounding sinister."I told you not to come near her," Alpha Jax shot back."You know, this is the problem with you. You take everything for yourself. You make everything about you. Mother appeased me, told you you'd stop being selfish. Guess you're too much of a bastard to do that.""We're twins, but that doesn't mean whatever I own is yours. There are boundaries, Logan," Alpha Jax seethed."You didn't set them when you fucked my girlfriend, did you?"My eyes widened."I was drunk. Shit, I've told you I didn't know it was your girlfriend. It was a mask party."I shook. It's okay.I calmed myself down.He didn't know. They were masked."Sure, like you gotta keep your

JAX:I pleaded with my mother to keep Logan busy until I convinced my unyielding mate to stop coming to work, to take a sick leave at least.Once Logan set his eyes on something that caught his interest, it would be hard for him to let it go. We had that in common. Scarlett was associated with me, therefore, she was on his list of piques.I knew Logan wasn't over that one time. His girlfriend had given me a drink and told me someone needed to see me. I never told him about that part, that she intentionally intoxicated me to arouse me.I'd never betray my brother like that, even if our father and grandfather set us against each other to compete for the position of Alpha.I tolerated everything he had done so far because I wasn't blind to the fact that the family and elders favored me over him, but he cut too deep into my skin for me to bear with.I wished our mother hadn't called for some useless truce so he would stay away himself. I would have banished him myself if there was a way t

SCARLETT :To stop my parents from worrying about me losing my job, I told them the Alpha gave the staff in his chamber some time off. Sophie took a week off work too to help me. I don't know how she convinced the Beta to let her off work when she said he was an irritating jerkface. Our parents were out working, and when they weren't, we'd play games and have a barbecue like old times. The month was almost over, and Sophie wouldn't stop blabbering about her paycheck."Look at this!" She squealed, showing a screenshot on her phone. Sophie was a hairstylist at heart and experimented with different hairstyles. She loved going all out. Today she had bangs, tomorrow she'd style her hair into a bob. Not that frequently, though. She just changed her look once a month. My eyes beheld a flashy set of expensive hair styling tools. "I don't know what these are, Sophie." I reminded her that I was a novice to her favorite items.Sophie's eyes lit up with excitement, the phone gripped tightly as sh

SCARLETT :"What are you thinking about?" Sophie shook me."Nothing," I lied."I didn't take a week off work so I'd have to watch you brood over Alpha Jax," she folded her arms."Damn, I hate how well you know me," I groaned.“That's how it should be. We're twins. Moreover, I'm the older twin. I gotta look out for you, lil sis."I scoffed. "You were older by five minutes, Soph. Not sure how that counts.""Five minutes. That's how much it counts. You spent an extra five minutes bracing yourself to be welcomed into the world.""Whatever makes you sleep at night, Soph," I grinned sarcastically."Oh, I do sleep really well."I grumbled a few words and picked up my phone to watch a movie I had downloaded."Mom's back," Sophie opened the door of our room. We went to welcome her, getting the groceries from her hands."Scarlett, I need you to go get soy sauce," my mom sighed. "I don't understand how I forgot. Your dad is making dinner tonight, and he'll need it.""Can't Sophie go?" I whined.

SCARLETT :I stepped forward, but my sister pulled me back, her anger palpable."Are you so low that you'd threaten us with our parents?" I asked Logan.Logan huffed, "Threaten? I don't need to do that. It's just the truth. In the world of hierarchy, it's only normal that you should know your place, isn't it? Think about it. A lowly omega against a superior royal." He checked his watch. "You're wasting my time, Scarlett. Get in.""Let me go, Soph," I whispered to her. "I have to go. It's getting late, and Mom and Dad might be worried. The sooner I settle this, the better."Reluctantly, my twin let go of my hand."Don't drive away. I need to go home with my sister," I told him as I entered the car."Relax, sweetheart. I don't kidnap people," he chuckled.I rolled my eyes inwardly, waiting for him to get to the point. The car model looked newly launched, but the smell of cigarettes polluted the air. The tinted car windows were closed, leaving no room for fresh air."Can we wrap this up

JAX:I had my chauffeur, Henry, pick up Scarlett from her house. I waited patiently for word to reach me that her parents weren't home, as we had agreed to be discreet around people who weren't trusted staff.I lay on my bed in my cabin, the same bed where I had taken her for the first time, and a few more times after we returned from the Moonrock pack.Only three days had passed, and I became a man starved for her. I stared restlessly into space, waiting for her arrival. I missed the feeling of her in my arms, the tugging of her lower lip, her soft blonde hair, and the scent of her body and shampoo. As long as the bond existed, I would forever be damned if I didn't have her. A gentle knock on the door made me sit upright, grab a file from the nightstand, and pretend to go through it.Why appear as a restless dog waiting for its owner when I could appear composed enough to match my status?I cleared my throat as if I hadn't spoken in a long time. "Come in."The door creaked open, reve

JAX:The morning sun was hot, scorching, and seeping its rays through my window. I looked at the woman next to me and realized how much of a mess I had made of her. Her waves looked tangled, her lips were swollen, and I replaced the hickeys on her skin where they had begun to fade.I subconsciously traced her eyebrows, moved to her lashes, then her lips. Her eyes fluttered open, staring blankly into mine like she was trying to take in her environment."No," she croaked, rising up.The plan was for her to go back that same night, but that failed because I ended up losing control. My hunger for her took a long time before it got satisfied."It's okay. I told Hensley to send word to your family that you'd be spending forty-eight hours at the pack house tending to me because I'm working overnight for two days, and I'd rather eat only what you make.""That doesn't make any sense," I told her."It might not make sense, but the order came from me so automatically it should.""It's not up to

Her voice further softened, and I think that did something to me. No one had ever spoken to me like that before, not even my best friend."I am," I replied, regaining my composure."Are you sure?""Yeah, I am.""Okay, that's good because I was asking if you ever cook here.""No," I spoke earnestly. "I sent my last chef away, now Hensley brings me takeouts.""You're ridiculous," she shook her head. "The kitchen looked so spotless, I should've known something was wrong when I saw dust on the utensils. Ugh, why did I assume you'd have ingredients just lying around in the kitchen?"I laughed. SCARLETT :"Are we going to stay in the dark?" Gina asked."It'll be fine, Georgia, we're here." Correction. That wasn't Gina."Yeah, and Gloria isn't scared of the dark," Gina pointed out. That had to be Gina."Thanks, Glenda.""I think Emma's afraid too," one of the quadruplets mentioned. They had only met minutes ago, but Emma seemed to like them already.I supposed they were unconsciously mother bonding. Only hers would never return to consciousness.Forget it.These girls look exactly the same. Everyone's the same height except for Gloria, who's an inch taller than the rest."You guys ready?" Zharn held the doors to the back of the truck."You guys wanna come to my side and hug?"With no response, they hurried and hugged me from both sides. I guess Gloria was scared of the dark too."We're ready," Cage replied, and the door was slammed shut."How old are the four of you?" I asked while they squeezed me to death."Twelve," they echoed, even though their voices sounded the exact sa

SCARLETT :"No, seriously. Why is everywhere so deserted?" I asked, peeking through the small hole at the back of the truck where we sat."Let me see." I scooted to the side so Cage could look.He turned to face me. "It really is empty.""I'm scared," Emma mumbled, loud enough for us to hear."It's okay, Emma. We're here," I encouraged her.The truck came to an abrupt stop that made my heart skip a beat."Everything okay?" Cage yelled."Yeah, hold on," Zharn replied. The back of the truck was soon open. "I found something."We got down from the back, and Emma scurried out of the vehicle before we could tell her to stay.Zharn led us to six men from the pack house, four of whom I was familiar with. Three warriors and three trainees. Not too far from them were rogues, beheaded and shot, about eight of them.Six of our men were dead, leaving only one warrior and another trainee severely injured.Sophie clasped her hands over her mouth to contain the shock."H-help u-us," the older man sp

Cage inquired. My sister turned to the left and fired the gun."What?" She rolled her eyes at our bewildered faces. "I watch a lot of war movies.""You learned to shoot from war movies?" Zharn raised a brow."My aim might be shit, but I can pull a trigger," she said, tucking the shotgun into her jeans."Emma, have this dagger," Cage offered it to her."Be careful, it looks sharp," I cautioned."Your place looks really bad," Zharn remarked upon looking at it."Doesn't everywhere look ruined today?"The windows of our home had multiple holes in them."Be safe, Scarlett," the Alpha's voice reappeared in my head.I had to choose a moment to live in, between the Alpha saying my name where

SCARLETT :It all happened in a flash. Two of the rogues were soon bound in ropes with glass shards all over them.Cage was bleeding badly, and the little girl wouldn't stop crying."Are you okay?" Of course, he wasn't okay. He was bleeding badly, but the situation had me feeling almost numb. I didn't know what else to say.Sophie grabbed her bag and took her scarf, tore it, and wrapped it around his bleeding palms."What's going to happen to these two?" Soph asked Cage."They'll be held captive for questioning," Cage replied, panting heavily. "This is unusual; rogues have never neared this pack. We have the strongest men positioned at our borders; they never leave. Our security is the best. Someone planned this obviously; it could be someone within the pack. We'll need them to answer to us, I bet everyone has a question or two for them."Hot and cold air brushed my skin as I got goosebumps due to anxiety."You'll never get anything out of us no matter how hard you try," one of the ro

JAX:"Don't go anywhere," I told my wolf, Luca. "I'll be needing you throughout today.""I practically live in you. Just summon me," it told me before disappearing.I wore a full-proof body suit. All my men had them. It didn't keep the head safe, but the rest of the body would be. My men had spread out throughout the pack. My guards accompanied me as we stepped out of my chamber. Dead bodies were spread out on the floor."Your people are out there dying, and you chose to stay in your chamber and take your time like a pretty little princess." Six rogues appeared before me, and before I replied, my men were shot in the head from behind."Nice work," I commended. "Now let me show you how to shoot." My grandfather did not give me affection; he signified approval by giving me permission to learn his secret moves. One deep breath."Luca, I need you.""I'm here, Jax," he responded.Soon, I was behind the five of them, firing silver bullets with both my hands."Fascinating," one of the rogues

How can a six-year-old manipulate her way into getting a doll back?I strode to the lake where the full moon reflected directly on the blue water."We weren't just compatible. Zharn, I want you to stop drowning yourself. Move on, find some peace. Find a beautiful woman you love. ZHARN MEYERS:I had spoken on the spur of the moment that day, and I did not realize how it would make her feel that way."Why didn't you say anything?" I queried."I wanted to, but then you became aBeta and got too busy. I met Paul around that time," she told me. Paul, the man she cheated on me with. Twice. "I don't know how to explain it, but it was different with him, too different, and I realized that I could not love you in the way that you loved me. Yet, it was hard to let you go. My family loved you, my friends did too. Your family ranks second among the nobles. My parents would have killed me if I let you.""Then your only option was to string me along forever?" I ran my hands through my hair."Cleo, I was scared you'd hate me.""Cleo, I loved you too much to ever hate you. You could've told me everything, and I would've let you go, even if it killed me," I chuckled bitterly. "I'm not that selfish. He'd give me sad eyes all evening, reminding me of how shitty my life really was.I stood by the pillar, observing the evening when a woman whooshed past me.I caught a whiff of strawberries and bubblegum, and my nose followed the scent. A woman in a green dress hugged her body so tight that I noticed other men gawking at her. Her wavy dirty blonde hair did not do much to cover her exposed back.A good distraction for the night. All I have to do is smile and use my boyish charms. I watched her until she went to the side where the lowborns stood and turned."Holy shit, she's gorgeous," my wolf Lan read my mind. Her golden amber eyes shone as bright as stars even without trying. ZHARN MEYERS:I endured the first two hours of the event, engaging in political discussions and business talk with older men. This was my father's domain, not mine, but that night I was not just Beta Zharn. I was also the young Master of the Meyer household, there to uphold the family's honor."Hey, Zharn!" Anna exclaimed. "Amy snuck a pastry.""They're from home," Amy defended."Excuse me." I gave a curt smile to the grey-haired man with a pot belly before storming over to my sisters."What did our mother say about tonight?" I seethed, hoping I wouldn't have to lock my sisters in a cage that night."To not steal pastries?" Anna shrugged."No, you dimwit," Amy rolled her eyes. "She said to behave." Amy said proudly, but I was about to knock that pride off her face with a good smack to her forehead."Why aren't you behaving?" I whispered angrily. "Do you realize you're not even supposed to be here? You have to be of age.""Liar," that was the second time I had been called a liar that n
