7- The Camp

Third Party's POV

When they entered Alpha Jacob's office, he led Maya to the couch and told her, "stay here for a bit." Ana will surely clean our room faster than before. "You scared her."

Maya looked at him in disbelief, "How can you say that? I just asked her to clean. How was that scary? "

"You look scared," Alpha Jacob commented. Maya just stared at him and was about to say something when someone knocked on his office door. "Come in." He said, waiting for the person to show himself.

"Alpha, I came from the southern border of the pack." There was a trace of breach, and the rogues had the guts to put up a tent. " said the Gamma as he looked at Maya, who was looking at him intently too.

"Is she the one Ken was talking about?" he asked suddenly, pointing at Maya.

"I'd stop pointing fingers if I were you," Maya warned him. "I don't like being belittled," she added.

"You are just a rogue." What rights do you have to tell me what to do, much less threaten me? " Gamma Dom replied angrily.

"That's enough!" Alpha Jacob stopped them. "Give me the detailed report," he commanded. Gamma Dom was looking at Maya while handling the reports to Alpha Jacob. 

"They managed to put up three tents, each of which could fit five to eight rogues, so there were fifteen to twenty-four rogues in total who were living in my territory without my knowledge." And the warriors that had been guarding found out about these only now? They were camping, like having a picnic inside my territory! " "Alpha Jacob said angrily. "Tell me, are we lacking in training now? "Am I getting soft already that everyone has been lazy enough not to do their job properly?" he added furiously.

"Alpha---" Gamma Dom was about to say something, but Alpha Jacob stopped him.

"Get ready to go to the southern border," Alpha Jacob said, and he looked at Maya, who was spectating. He got closer to her and kissed her hard and said, "You stay here." Do anything you like. "

Maya's eyes widened. She did not like how Jacob made her stay in the pack house when she could actually come with them and be of help. "I want to come, I can help."

"I said you stay here." "Jacob said with annoyance. 

 'Can she just do as I say? What if something happened to her? Is she one of those rogues as well?' 

Maya read Jacob's thoughts. But as much as she was happy that he was concerned about her well-being, she was also hurt that he did not trust her.

"I told you, I am not used to following orders," Maya insisted, while Gamma Dom was glaring at her.

 'Another woman who could be the cause of our demise again. Maya heard his thoughts and got angry in an instant, but decided to ignore them.

"I will come with you and that's final. Let's go and lead the way. " She said it with finality.

Alpha Jacob took a deep breath and started going out of the office, holding her hand. 

"Go as fast as you can or shift if it's a long distance." I can keep up even if I don't shift. I am not a helpless damsel. " Maya notified Jacob and Dom, so the two switched to their wolves and accelerated their pace, and they were surprised when Maya, who did not shift, kept up with them, hopping from one tree to the next.

They reach the southern border without a trace of any exhaustion on Maya's face. Jacob and Dom shifted and were on their way to confront the warriors who were being reprimanded by Beta Ken.

"Alpha!" exclaimed everyone as they greeted Jacob, who was now enraged. Ken said, "Alpha," and gazed at him. "I'm sorry this happened; they said they patrolled here on a regular basis and that there were no signs of invaders or transgression; it's unclear how they suddenly came here," Beta Ken remarked.

Maya was concentrating on her surroundings, so she turned off her mind's capacity to read. She needed to devote all of her energy to figuring out what was going on. Unbeknownst to everyone, she was erecting some shields along the border. She faced Jacob after she finished her incantation.

"Alpha, let's go back to your office." I would like to discuss with you something I have found. Allow only your trusted members to come. You may leave a few warriors for patrol here. "

Jacob was looking at her and controlling his anger. "Don't give me orders, I was the one giving orders." Jacob scorned her.

"I'm not giving you any commands; I'm just informing you that I've found critical information that will help you with this situation; if you don't want to listen, great; I'll just watch you all get nowhere." Maya snarled at him and stepped back, her fists folded up to her chest.

Jacob was looking at her, weighing the gravity of her words. He didn't like what was happening, but he still followed Maya. "Dom, stay here with four other warriors for patrol and mind link me as soon as anything happens." "Report to me any unusual things you notice," said Jacob to Dom. "Yes, Alpha," Dom replied, and gave Maya a sharp stare.

"Ken, come with me into the office. Once we are done, update Dom immediately." Jacob told Ken and looked at Dom.

 'I want you to observe these warriors I asked to stay behind. '

 'Copy that Jacob'

 'Good, we'll let you know the details when you get back to the pack house,' Jacob said through a mind link, and Dom nodded. 

Jacob looked at everyone who will be left behind and said, "I want all of you to think carefully on what had happened here. If I found anyone of you to be a traitor of the pack, I will make sure that you will never forget the punishment you will be receiving for the rest of your life. That is if you manage to leave."

All warriors who heard him salute, feeling confident that they were not a traitor and they were loyal to the pack and their alpha. Jacob was satisfied with their actions and looked at Maya and Ken.

"You two," Jacob, referring to Ken and Maya. "Let's go."
