(Kaeleigh’s POV)
I needed to get out of here! I didn’t understand the effect Asher had on me, but I knew I didn’t like it. When he was around, I felt like I was falling into some sort of abyss and my thoughts and reactions weren’t my own.
I went to the main door and examined it. Obviously it was locked, but I had to try anyway, and I still felt disappointed as I twisted the handle and nothing happened. I looked for how it locked and, guessing from the little box on the wall, I assumed it was by key card much like at Dark Moon. Do people not use normal keys anymore? I shook my head and moved to the window. Maybe I could get out that way. One look out of the window squashed that idea. We were at least four floors up if not more.
I spent the next h
(Chase’s POV)I fell to my knees panting. This one was so much worse and longer. It felt like I was having a heart attack.“Chase!” my dad appeared in front of me looking concerned. I shook my head as the pain receded.“I need my mate now,” I said, pulling myself up off the floor. “I can’t wait any longer, and I don’t think she can either.”We were in a small hotel room on the border of Crimson Shadow’s outer territory, with men trickling in slowly over the last hour. We had brought over 100 of our best warriors for the rescue and we were pretty much ready and they were in position at the access point. Meagan had confirmed that she was back in the compound and she planned to get Kaeleigh alone. We we
(Kaeleigh’s POV)“Meagan,” I asked cautiously, “are you being serious?” I didn’t know whether I could trust her or if Asher was playing some sick joke. Meagan grinned at me and went to the clothes side of the room and pulled out a pair of black skinny trousers and a black vest top. She threw them at me and instructed me to get changed. I hesitated for a second before another glare from Meagan sent me running into the bathroom and quickly changing into the clothes.I went back into the main room and Meagan handed me some boots, which I slipped on. She showed me the hidden pockets for the blades and I spent the next ten minutes threading them through the loops.“Those will cause more damage being silver,” she said, watching me. “When we get home, I can show y
(Kaeleigh’s POV) I woke up in my bed, wrapped in Chase’s arms. It had been after midnight when we had got back to Dark Moon and even though it was late, it was still way too quiet. We had got back before the other warriors and I was refusing to go to bed until they were back safe and I could thank them for risking their lives for me. I was upset to hear that we had lost six of our own warriors in the attack and made it my business to ensure that their families were well looked after. Chase had a proud look on his face when he said that was what a true Luna did. I was sitting with Meagan, who was anxiously waiting for the return of the other group, when I realised that I had heard one of her brothers mention her mate. She had excitedly told me that she and her mate Theo had known about each other for a couple of months, but her father didn’t approve. The
(Chase’s POV)“Wait! The prophecy is real?” Kaeleigh’s eyes shot up from the floor, where she had been staring at while I told her everything I knew, well almost everything.“How long have you known?” she asked. “is that why you want me?”“Shit baby, no,” I exclaimed as she jumped up and began pacing the room. “I’ve wanted you since the first moment I laid eyes on you. I only found out about this stuff when I was away.”She stopped pacing and looked down at herself.“Fuck, I should get dressed,” she said.“Kinda wished you wouldn’t,” I muttered to myself, which e
(Temperance’s (Kaeleigh’s mum) POV)*** Around 25 years and 6 months ago ***“Priestess Audrey, it is such an honour to have you visit,” I smiled at the stern woman in front of me. Her ash blond hair was pulled up in a tight bun and she wore a tailored grey skirt suit.“Yes, well, I felt we should talk about the recent revelations,” she said in clipped tones. I was sure being the High Priestess for the UK was a tough job, but I doubt that was what was causing the stick up her ass to chafe. I couldn’t help but sigh and roll my eyes, which earned me a disapproving glare in return.“Temperance, dear,” she said “You must understand that other than the Beaumont Coven the Sacred Circle Coven is one of the most p
(Temperance’s POV) The main hall was already packed with werewolves and witches all chatting amongst themselves. Between the pack and the coven, there were 230 people here and while the majority of them were werewolves, the witches still had a sizable contribution. A witch’s coven runs much like a pack in that there is a hierarchy. Just like the pack has the Alpha, Beta and other ranks, the witches have the central council. The central council is the twelve most powerful witches, and the most powerful as the leader and priestess. My mother was the priestess before me. It is an inherited position, but that’s no guarantee and even as my mother’s daughter I had to prove myself before I was given the title. Beyond the council, though, we didn’t have any ranking system other than by how skilled you were at your craft and what element you specialised in.
(Kaeleigh’s POV)I sat in the spell and watched my beautiful mother. It was like I could feel her with me. I listened as she told us about the creation of the pack I had called home for the first twenty-four years of my life. How my father had given up his Alpha title, my mother had altered her whole identity and heritage. How over two hundred people, witches and werewolves, had changed everything about themselves. I didn’t know much about witches, but I knew enough to know that they held their magic sacred, as a gift from the moon goddess herself, much like a werewolf’s wolf is. They had put their lives and the lives of their families in danger. And all of this was for me. They had vowed to protect me, and paid for it with their lives.“I will protect you with my la
(Kaeleigh’s POV)“What do you mean by that?” I snapped, “why can’t you just tell me?” and Adam just smirked. I sighed. I wasn’t sure how much more I could take. How many more secrets had been ruling my life?“When you have spoken to her, though, feel free to come and chat again.” I wanted to punch his smarmy face. I scowled at him before I turned and walked away before I said something someone would regret.“See you soon beautiful,” he sang after me“Fuck off,” I called back, and he laughed.I got back up to the entrance and hit my card against the reader, and it turned green and the door opened. Light flooded in from outside and when my eyes

(Kaeleigh’s POV)*** Two Weeks Later ***I stood on the stage at the former Dark Moon and now Dark Circle pack territory and looked out across the crowd. I felt warmth rush through me as Chase squeezed my hand beside me as we waited for the crowd to quiet down. The crowd was a mix of werewolves, witches and hybrids, although the latter were massively outnumbered by the first two. The last two weeks had been crazy busy as we worked to create some sort of order in everything. The battle had ended in our favour, but we still had losses. I had been upset to learn from Jensen that Zack’s mate had been expecting and watching as she received the news that she had already felt was heart wrenching. I had been told that the death of her mate had sent her into shock. This wasn’t uncommon, as the separat
(Kaeleigh’s POV)I clung to Adam as I screamed for help. There was blood everywhere, and his eyes were fluttering. Dayna was crying.“Why can’t I do anything?” she screamed. “Adam I mean it, don’t you dare die on me, not when I have just told you I love you.” I looked up at her in shock and she looked at me, tears streaming.“Kaeleigh, tell him he can’t die. We agreed. We are choosing each other as mates. He has to live.” She shook Adam as his eyes closed. “Kaeleigh, order him, please,” I shook my head and looked down at Adam in my arms.“Why did you do something as stupid as that?” I cried at him and his eyelids fluttered open again. He looked up and smiled.
(Asher’s POV)“Well, look what we have here,” I snarled as I walked into the clearing. “If it isn’t my not so loyal Beta.” I had seen Cade just as he had snapped the neck of that imbecile Fischer. As I got closer, I saw him holding his mate. I watched them as he comforted her. He was so gentle and caring. Before her, Cade had been a different sort. He had always been ready for a good time with the supply of Omegas that we kept around and I could pinpoint to the day that he had met his mate. Everything changed. He stopped drinking as much, stopped going out. He disappeared on weekends on private business.I got why. A fated mate is an awful weapon in the wrong hands and my father had taken a dislike to Cade pretty much after his own father had left the pack. If my father had known that Cade had found his mate, he would h
(Zoey’s POV)“I gotta go,” I hissed, watching the blond streaks as they flashed through the woods. “I got a score to settle.” I started walking towards the last place that I saw the bleached blond trash. I could feel Cade’s presence behind me. I wasn’t sure whether he was there to protect me or to protect her at this point.I woke up crying almost every night after reoccurring dreams about what she did. Dreams that repeated over me held in silver chains and her smirking face as she… I shuddered at the thought of it. I had never been so violated before in my life. I still struggled with intimacy with Cade. The irony of the fact that for the first time in almost five years I could be open and not hide my love for my mate and yet I couldn’t stand to be touched by him. Cade had tried to talk to me about w
(Jensen’s POV)“My Hero,” Tatum grinned at me, and I couldn’t help but grin back.“Yeah, well, let’s not need that anymore,” I said as I helped her to a sitting position.“What about Jeremy?” Tatum asked and Elaina called over from where she was sitting next to the unconscious wolf.“He’s gonna be fine. It’ll take some healing, but werewolves do that quickly.” I looked at Tatum, who looked relieved.“Where’s Luke?” Tatum asked, looking around.“Your brother is as silly as you are,” the other witch, who I was unfamiliar with, said, glaring at the entrance to the n
(Tatum’s POV)I rushed into the entrance of the nook where I could see the evidence of magic flying around everywhere. I knew Jade and Luke were close behind. I surveyed the area and saw Chase on the ground next to a big black wolf and a woman with jet black hair. The woman was tending to the wolf as he laid on the floor, panting. At the other end of the nook I could see the redhead witch Isabella and my mum. There was a redheaded man standing between me and them and from the magic he was using, I could tell he was a sorcerer. I glanced at Luke, who nodded and he cast a slow down spell. While he did that, I felt for my new-found powers and sent out energy, or whatever it was, to the surrounding trees asking them for help. I felt the connection and began to bend the trees to my will.Jade appeared as well as Jeremy and I grinned. The sorcerer, on the
(Kaeleigh’s POV)“ATTACK!”I watched as thousands of bodies appeared from the surrounding area, some in human form, some in wolf. They reached the outer edges of the town in a matter of seconds, so they must have been in the immediate area and the woods surrounding. I drew my eyes back to Asher who was watching me with an intense look. He smirked as his eyes found mine and then pulled his shirt to reveal the mark again.I rolled my eyes before closing them and blocking everything and everyone around me out. I envisioned my army of wolves, the symbol of my Alpha power and the reason I would never bow to anyone. I pulled the energy from that power and pulled it in tight. The tension alone was enough to make me feel like I was going to burst. I opened my eyes, knowing that right now they shone g
(Kaeleigh’s POV)Three hours later, a now mobile and newly sealed Cade was sitting on the sofa in the living room with Zoey on his knee and I was inspecting Tatum’s wrist. She and Jensen had emerged from his room a few minutes before and Tatum was jumping around excitedly. They had completed the bond last night and through the night Tatum had completed the transition into a Hybrid, much in the same way as Chase had with me. I looked at the pattern that had formed on her wrist and saw it was an extension of Jensen’s pattern. I smiled. I still didn’t know how everything worked, but I was loving finding out.“Oh, and watch,” Tatum said, suddenly very excited. She turned and looked around and then focused on a dying houseplant that a scowling Luke was standing by. She walked over and placed her hand on the soil and, slowly
