Atticus' POV
It's been 3 months since I lost a member of my pack. I know Jared was only one member, but over the years, the numbers keep dwindling. With each attack, I never know if I'm going to lose another person.
There were already so few of this little pack, a pack who loved each other so much. I just don't want them to lose anyone else. They have already suffered enough. They watched their entire pack fall. Every building was burnt to the ground, and everything they knew was destroyed in an instant.
I quickly fell in love with this small pack. I couldn't believe anyone would ever want to hurt them. There wasn't a mean bone in any of them. They're the kindest people I've ever met in my long, hard, and lonely life.
Each one of them has a talent they're good at. Each one has something they strive to do better at. Each one has hopes, dreams, and a longing for a place they can call home and finally settle down into.
Sometimes I wish I could unleash Draven onto the enemies. He can wipe them out single-handedly. Something I am not capable of doing without him. But if I did unleash Draven, I would be exposing him...
The beacon... It calls to me. At first, it was faint, but as the days passed, it got stronger. I feel it calling to me, tugging on my chest, begging me to find it. What is it? Who is it? Is it a person? Is it something else?
It can't be my mate. It doesn't feel like one. The pull feels different, and it's getting stronger. As we traveled, I could feel I was getting closer to it, until suddenly one day, the strength of the beacon weakened significantly and remained idle. Almost as if it was content with my location and didn't want me to proceed any further.
It remained like that until a month ago, when suddenly it felt as though it was activated again. This time the strength of it was unlike anything I had felt previously. The first few days, it was hard to focus on anything but the beacon. Once I was used to it and it was no longer the only thing I could think of or feel, we were able to continue towards its direction. My other half and I were eager to find out what this beacon was. More so now than ever.
"Here you go," Tristan said as he plopped down next to me and shoved a plate in my direction. I glared at Tristan as I took the plate.
"Must you always drop your body against me every time you sit down?"
"Yes, you break the fall." This asshole said, and I groaned as I rolled my eyes.
"I think he's attention-starved and needs physical contact from you," Annabelle said and Ron snorted as he began laughing.
Tristan took in a sharp breath and held his hand over his chest, faking hurt.
"I'm not attention-starved! But I do need physical contact that only you can provide!' Tristan said as he gave the Alpha a loving look.
Tristan fell into a fit of laughter as he went flying sideways. The Alpha's small group began laughing as their Alpha looked at Tristan horrified.

Third Person's POV
Rose's naked body lies draped over Nick's naked body. Her head rested against his chest, listening to his heartbeat. Her fingers lightly trail along his chest, running through his chest hair as he strings his fingers through her long blonde hair.
"I wish you were my mate. I wish we could have kids. I always thought one day I would have a child and experience carrying one. I used to try to imagine what it would feel like. I would try to picture my stomach round with a pup growing inside."
A tear lands on Nick's chest and he pulls her up higher, tilting her face toward him before gently cupping her cheek.
"I'm sorry, my sweet Rose! I wish that was something I could give you." Nick let out a breath as he let his eyes sweep over her beautiful and delicate face. She's breathtaking! Her skin is so pale and creamy, not a single flaw. Her long blonde hair hangs to the middle of her back, so perfectly straight. Her blue eyes shine every time she looks at him, and her natural red lips look even more amazing after he's thoroughly abused them.
"But maybe one day, when we find a place, maybe we can adopt a little boy or a little girl. Hell, we can adopt both if you want! We can fill the house with the sound of children's laughter. We can give them a home, and parents they don't have. They can fill the missing piece in our hearts, as we fill theirs."
Rose's lip trembled as more tears rolled down her face.
"I love you so much!"
"I love you too, my beautiful Rosaline!"
Nick tried desperately not to let his eyes fill with tears. But seeing the love of his life cry, and wishing they could find a place to call home, caused the Delta 2's eyes to fill with tears before he pressed their lips together, stealing the breath from her lungs in a sweet passionate kiss.
Nick's fingers thread through Rose's hair as he slowly enters her again. Rose breaks the kiss, throwing her head back and exposing her beautiful long slender neck. Nick's fingers trail along her delicate neck and she moans as his fingers caress his claiming mark. His head lifts off the ground before latching onto his mark while drawing his hips back. Her body moves as he thrusts into her again, and he growls at the beautiful little cry that escapes her lips.
....
Once again, the Alpha sits in front of the fire, mesmerized by it, watching the flames flicker and dance. He loves the way they seem to change colors, from light orange, to darker, and then to almost red.
Atticus used to feel how antsy Draven was. But since there have been no bodies of water near them for quite some time, Draven has lost his spunk. He's almost becoming depressed since he hasn't been able to shift in so long.
"I'm sorry! I wish we didn't have to rely on water to hide you, but we do. We haven't found water anywhere deep enough to hide you." Atticus tried to explain, knowing all they've come across lately has been very narrow and shallow streams. Only enough for drinking and rinsing off.
Draven didn't respond, he simply receded to the back of his head, and a deep low whine was heard before he disappeared. Atticus' heart broke and he suddenly stood up, startling Tristan.
Tristan closely observed the Alpha and his suddenly odd behavior. It only took him a moment of trying to figure out what was wrong, before It dawned on Tristan.
"Let's pack up tonight and head out first thing in the morning. The sooner we make it to the river, the sooner he can be free to stretch his limbs." Tristan said to his Alpha through the link.
Tristan and Atticus know the river isn't the closest body of water where Draven can be free to dive down deep. The only problem is, the other bodies of water are very large ponds, and both are in two very large packs.
If they can make it around the larger pack with two shallow ponds, which are notorious for their cruelty on the weak, they'll be free to cross the river and camp out safely on the other side.
That river will provide water for drinking and bathing, along with food. It's also wide, and deep enough for Draven.
The only problem is that there are a lot of packs in this area. The only good thing is they are all on one side of the river.
Atticus lets out a breath as he reaches over and grabs Tristan's arm. He squeezes it before pulling Tristan into his side.
"I know I've thanked you before, but thank you! Thank you for keeping my secret, and thank you for being my friend and brother." Tristan heard his Alpha through the link and his eyes stung. Tristan cleared his throat as he looked away for a moment before wrapping his arm around his Alpha and pulling him into his side.
"Stop making me cry! I love you, man!" Tristan said out loud as he struggled not to cry.
Atticus once again shocked the beta as he chuckled and grabbed the back of his head, pulling it forward and pressing a kiss to the top of his head.
"There, that's as much love as I can give you. Now go somewhere."
The Alpha thought he was free, but his body flew to the side as Tristan threw himself at the Alpha, wrapping his arms around him and tackling Atticus to the ground.
The Alpha's face flushed as the stupid Beta playfully proclaimed his love.
"I knew you loved me! I love you too, Alpha!" Tristan loudly proclaimed.
"For the love of Goddess! Get a hold of yourself!" Atticus tried to yell, but he did a horrible job as he yelled over his laughter.
His people watched with a fond smile, loving as their Alpha laughed for the first time. Watching their Beta try with all his might, and succeed in pulling a full belly laugh from their big bad Alpha, who never laughs.
That night the Alpha fell asleep feeling as though something had changed in himself. Somehow laughing and letting go with his people brought him that much closer to them. He had already felt as though they were family, but somehow they felt even closer now.
He knew each person, every one of those 28 members so well. They were each like a brother or a sister to him. He didn't just care for them, he loved them!
The night was colder than all the others, and the scent of Ash was stronger as Draven came forward, sleeping with the Alpha, trying to keep the little Omega, and those around him warm throughout the night.
....
It was their longest stretch with the enemies not finding them. It had been at least a month since the last time Atticus had to fight them off while his people ran. Since Jared's death, the Alpha refuses to let his people help him fight the enemy. He's too afraid to lose any more of his men. His pack when he found them just a little over 5 years ago, were just under 50 members, but now they're down to 28.
Even though his people keep wishing for a birth so their numbers can increase, the Alpha is thankful there hasn't been one. It's hard enough on the Alpha and the pack when they lose a member, the Alpha couldn't imagine how much worse it would be if it was a baby, or a child.
The Alpha knew their long streak with the enemy not finding them wouldn't last forever. That's why he wasn't alarmed when a warrior frantically pressed on the link.
The Alpha quickly pulled himself and River to their feet, his voice booming as he woke his small sleeping pack. 'What the hell is up with these people attacking first thing in the morning?' The Alpha wondered as he barked off his commands.
"Head West and once you wrap around that pack, go South for the river when-" the Alpha stopped talking as patrol from the west linked him, letting the Alpha know the four enemies coming from the north were a distraction and they spotted a larger group coming from the west, blocking his people's path. Now his people have no way of going around the two large packs to get to the river. Their only chance is to cut along the edge of the smaller one of the two, the one to the east.
The Alpha let his eyes roam over his people, he's torn. He wants to run with them, to make sure they make it through the pack safely. But the enemy will just follow them. At least if he stays, he can take them down and this will hopefully allow his people to make it to the other side of the river where they can stay for a while.
Who knows, maybe having these packs between the enemy, and the river will keep them away. Maybe they'll finally be able to claim a place as home and build a life for themselves.
"The West is blocked. We have to go with plan B. You have to go South. Remember, stay away from the larger pack to the west. The one on the east is the smaller of the two, but it's still large. Stay as close to the border as you can, but not too close. We don't want the pack on the west to spot you. They're probably allies and will recognize you're intruders. Be fast, and quiet, watch each other's backs. I love all of you! I better see you at the river! As soon as I'm done, I'll move as fast as I can to catch up with you. Go!" The Alpha said and watched his pack look at him with tears in their eyes before they turned and ran.
River grabbed a hold of the Alpha’s shirt as he turned to run toward the enemy and he quickly looked back.
"Come with us, Please!"
"I'm sorry sweetheart, I have to make sure you guys are safe. Run along now. You have to stick with them. I love you, River!" The Alpha said, pressing a kiss to the top of his head before turning and running toward the enemy.
.
Third Person's POV Atticus passed his men who were patrolling the west side as they raced past, trying to catch up to the others. The rules are firm, no one is allowed to engage the enemy. They're not allowed to stay and help their Alpha fight. They have to stay together and run to safety. The only problem with today's situation, they're coming from two different directions, the north and the west. And since Atticus can't be in two places at once, he goes west where the larger number of the enemies are. Atticus hopes that the four enemies coming from the north will follow his scent, and come for him instead of his people. Atticus hears the enemies and feels Draven push forward with him. His long black razor-sharp claws which look nothing like those of a werewolf, extend as the scent of ash surrounds him. Atticus is surprised when he sees there are at least 50 men. Way more than William has sent in a long time. The scent of Ash becomes stronger as Draven comes all the way forward
Third Person's POV "We’ve finished all repairs on the homes Southwest of town. There are a few homes on the north side of town that need a few minor repairs." Cyrus scanned his laptop as he went over his report. Alpha Harris tried to multitask, listening to his Beta while finishing an email to Alpha Mike. Harris wanted to let Mike know he did a good job keeping the pack grounds clean, and their fields in good condition while his father's territory remained vacant for the last 5 years. Sometimes it's hard for Harris to believe Alpha Mike was ever the man he was when he hurt Finn. It's hard to believe a man can change so much and become a good person. Maybe sometimes it just takes love, receiving love for the first time, and feeling it for someone else. Or maybe it's something as magical as the mate bond to grab a hold of someone's heart that isn't truly bad and turn them around. Whatever the reason, Harris along with many others are thankful Mike is no longer the man he was before
Third Person's POV Harris groans, before letting out an annoyed breath and glaring at his father. "That was a cheap shot! Now get off me!" Asher laughed as he climbed off his son's back and pulled Harris to his feet. Harris growled at his father and jerked his arm away before taking his position again. "All right, come on old man. I'm kicking your ass this time!" The sound of two little happy voices calling for their brother had Harris looking over his shoulder. His eyes land on two three-and-a-half-year-olds racing toward him with their arms reaching out. Harris' face lights up and he walks forward before kneeling and opening his arms. Wyatt leaps into Harris' arms first, and a moment later Luke leaps into his arms. "Oh my goodness you two, stop growing!" Harris squeezed the twins before kissing each of their heads. Luke pulled back, his loose white curls went in every direction, a perfect mess just like his dad's. His blue eyes which matched Noah's, sparkled as he talked
Third Person's POV As Harris walks toward the back door, he goes over things he wants to discuss during the meeting. Harris was so deep in thought when he walked out the back door that he didn't see it coming, and a voice yelled as the person jumped on his back. Harris grabbed onto the drink table, almost tipping it over as the idiot of a brother clung to his back like a monkey. After stabilizing himself, Harris immediately began reaching back, trying to knock the idiot off his back. "For fuck sakes Malaki, get off my back, you idiot!" Malaki laughed as he finally let his brother go. "Man, you're so obnoxious!" Harris said as he tried to fix his hair and then straighten his clothes. "Oh, pull that stick out of your ass!" Malaki said and reached for Harris' hair. Harris slapped Malaki's hand away and glared at him. "Come on everyone, let's get this started so we can eat," Harris said, then swatted his brother's hand as he went for his hair again. "Goddess, you're like a dam
Third Person's POV Harris stretches and then cracks his neck as he listens to Cyrus give him the last rundown on which team leaders are going to be active during the party tomorrow. "I'm putting both of Reid's teams between our border and theirs since they're familiar with their border. They'll be able to feel and smell if anyone is trying to cross through their territory to get to ours. I'm going to do the same with Malaki's two teams. I'll put them between our territory and theirs. That'll allow us to increase security on the north and east border. Oh, can you see if they can bring a few extra men so we could have extra men in the heart of our pack, instead of just the borders." "That's an excellent idea. I'll call Reid and Malaki as soon as we're done here. Let's see... I want increased security around the cells too, inside and out. We don't have any of their men, but you never know who's made a deal with who to get someone out. I want as many men as we can around the outside
Third Person's POV Before last night's revelation, Harris wasn't nervous about the party. It was just a party. One where everyone can see that the Thorn Pack is back, and meet their new Alpha. A party where hopefully pack members will be able to find their other half. But now it's more than that for Harris. Now he hopes that maybe he will find his mate. That thought has Harris both excited and nervous. All the little details of the party he didn't care about are suddenly important. He wants everything to be perfect and just right for his mate in case he finds them. Harris gets excited when he gets word from the front gate that guests have begun arriving. He makes his final walkthrough of the pack house and is pleased, his people outdid themselves. The pack house looks beautiful, it's decorated with flowers throughout the main level. Wanting to check on the backyard one last time, Harris walks out the back door and immediately flinches, startled by an obnoxiously loud voice that y
Third Person's POV After making sure there are no vampires anywhere near Harris's pack, Nadja smiles as he feels for her. His smile widens when he picks up on her location almost instantly and his feet leave the ground as he blinks away. As Evelyn reached for a cupcake she took a sharp breath in when she suddenly sensed someone behind her before they placed their hands over her eyes. The scent of a cold winter's day filled her nose and Evelyn smiled when she heard a familiar voice. "Guess who?" Evelyn squealed as she turned and jumped into Nadja's arms as he promptly kneeled. The scent of honeysuckle invades Nadja's nose and he smiles as he presses his nose to her curly long blond hair. Evelyn pulled back and giggled as she grabbed her dress and did a little curtsy, showing off her new dress that was white with light blue flowers all over it. It looked beautiful against her pale white skin and made her bright blue eyes shine brighter. Her long blonde hair almost looks white wi
Third Person's POV Alpha Christopher and Alpha William were nowhere near as friendly and happy to be there as Alpha Derek was. Although they weren't as rude and cocky as Brody was over the phone. Harris could tell William was amused by all the guards they had lined up in front of the packhouse. It showed on his face. The air felt different when William's and Christopher's unmated pack members walked through the party. They didn't look as eager and excited. They held their heads high and looked at everyone as though they were better than them. Derek watched nervously as several of his members nervously stepped forward when they smelled their mate in the crowd. It wasn't just his Omegas and Delta 3s that were scared, even a few Delta 1’s were biting their lips. Derek watched horrified as one of William’s men knocked his Delta 3 to the ground and began reciting the rejection. Derek's body tensed and he began to move forward when an Alpha and an Omega with dark hair and green e
Third Person’s POV The sound of Evelyn's laughter rings out. The little Omega covers her mouth while she laughs at the icing all over Nadja's face. The Elder was taken off guard this time. Evelyn didn't give him a chance to anticipate what was coming. She simply called his name and when the elder turned she stuffed a cupcake into his face. As shocked as Nadja was, the beautiful sound of her laughter was worth it. He sat there for a moment before bringing the napkin in his lap to his face. Evelyn continued to laugh as she stood up and took the napkin from Nadja. The Omega sat sideways on his lap as she cleaned the icing from his face. After wiping the icing from his eyes they fluttered open and Evelyn froze, her breath caught and her heart skipped a beat for the first time. Nadja froze when he heard her heart skip. For a moment the Elder couldn't move. After a moment Nadja reached up and took the napkin with one hand while bringing his left hand to her creamy white cheek. “Thank y
Third Person's POV Grayson laughed as he ran from his growling brother. Ezra didn't find it funny when his brother froze his entire bowl of soup as he dug his spoon into it. The little King tried to ignore his brother as he brought his cup of juice to his mouth just to have the frozen contents slide out and hit his nose. Ezra growled as he reached out and shocked Grayson. The Future Alpha King yelped and then took off running with Ezra hot on his tail. Silas ran his hand down his face as he watched the two brothers chase each other around the yard. Grayson, now 10, created a snowball in his hand and threw it at his brother, hitting him square in the nose. This only infuriated Ezra and the 8-year-old thrust his hands forward, shocking Grayson. Grayson grunts as his body falls to the ground mid-sprint. Grayson blinks his eyes just in time to see Ezra lunging for him. His eyes widened as he tried to roll away but he was too late. The younger brother landed on top of Grayson and quickl
Third Person's POV It's been 5 years since Harris had their first child. A year and a half later their son Niles was born. He's an omega, a dragon/werewolf hybrid at the curious age of 3 and 1/2. Atticus doesn't know if they'll have any more kids. But his heart is content knowing he and his mate brought two dragons into this world. Not only that, they honored his Father and the Dad he had for such a short time. Michael got over his anger with Noah removing his tubes rather quickly. Asher on the other hand had to keep his walls up constantly. Onyx was devastated. He had hoped for more children, even though Noah expressed his desire not to have anymore. Onyx couldn't wrap his head around why Noah would take something like that from him. He didn't understand it, even after Asher's explanation. Onyx wished he would have kept a closer eye on Noah. The Alpha wolf was adamant that he would have never let the Omega take something like that from him. The Alpha wolf was so angry at Noah, tha
Third Person's POV Xavier stuck the bottle into the warmer and nervously glanced at Theo. The Omega rocked back and forth as Vivian fed from him. Damien was out cold on the couch due to Vivian having a hard time sleeping last night so the Beta was up with her. Xavier scratched the back of his neck as he struggled to find words for the Omega. He felt beyond guilty for the thoughts that went through his head at the hospital, and for the way he snapped at Theo when he asked a simple question about their child's name. Xavier hated the thoughts that went through his head when he felt Damien die and he hated that those thoughts didn't go away while he waited for Damien to wake up. The Alpha wasn't sure what to say, or how to make amends, or how to make things right again. Xavier wished Theo would be mad at him. He wanted the Omega to lash out, shout at him, yell, scream, or hit him. He felt he deserved it and so much more. After laying Vivian in her swing, Theo went back into the kit
Third Person's POV Xavier can't feel anything beyond the excruciating pain of the broken mate bond, and his broken heart. He can't even bring himself to comfort his hurt omega who is curled up in the fetal position on the floor next to him, sobbing uncontrollably. As much as he loves Theo, the Alpha can't function without his Beta who saved him all those years ago. Damien was the very air he breathed. His heart feels like it was ripped from his chest. He doesn't want to live without Damien. The Alpha's head reels as he feels the death of his little mate, and he can't figure out how to go on without him. Xavier sucks in a breath before leaning forward and screaming. Spit connects his lips as he screams while tears flow down his face and drip from his chin. The doctor works fast trying to stop the bleeding and clear out as much blood as he could so he could see. With the baby out, the doctor pulls the top of the uterus out and is shocked at how thin and weak it is. It's practically
Third Person's POV Harris slowly breathed as he held his stomach. Another nurse burst into the room and quickly began asking Harris questions. Harris almost felt dizzy with how fast everything was moving. One moment they were in the backyard relaxing, the next minute Finn was in labor, then Damien, and now he might be as well. It was all too much, too soon. Harris wasn't ready. What if they didn't have everything they needed? What if he messes up? What if he isn't good enough, and fails at being a Dad? What if it isn't a dragon, and he fails to give Atticus what he has been hoping for? Harris blinks his eyes several times and a face inches from his own comes into view. Harris realizes Atticus is holding his face. “Stop!... Everything is going to be just fine! We have everything we need and so much more. Of course, we're both going to mess up, but we're going to learn from our mistakes and do better. We're not perfect, no one is! But you will never fail at being a dad! You are going
Third Person's POV “My water broke!” Addison took a sharp breath in as Maddox rushed forward, scooping his mate into his arms and praying his little angel didn't sneeze again. No one had to say anything, it was like they worked as one mind as everyone rushed through the pack house and out the front door. The sound of two engines roared to life as the vehicles sped out racing towards the hospital. “How are you feeling? Are you in any pain?” Addison asked as she adjusted Lucian's legs over her lap. “No, not yet. Just a little discomfort in my back.” Lucian said and then slowly exhaled as his stomach became tight. Addison looked between Finn's stomach that was exposed and his face. “How bad was that one?” Addison asked when Finn's body relaxed. “Not that bad. It's just a little stronger than the Braxton Hicks.” Finn said as he rubbed his belly. The Omega closed his eyes and leaned back against Maddox as Addison caressed his stomach. Addison looked into Maddox's eyes and could
Third Person's POV As Atticus steps out the back door he breathes a sigh of relief seeing the many heaters on the patio. Fall has just arrived and Harris can't stand the cold. Dragons prefer very warm temperatures, but little dragons need and crave the heat even more. Harris' body is responding to the growing dragon in his womb, reacting as if he himself was a dragon. The smaller Alpha wears a sweater during the day while everyone else is wearing t-shirts. In the evening he snuggles inside a warm thick coat while everyone else is simply wearing long-sleeved shirts. Draven doesn't mind, in fact he loves it. He's a proud mate and father, ever protective and attentive. Their apartment is never below 78, and whenever they're snuggling or sleeping, Draven heats Atticus' body, warming their mate and growing hatchling. Addison holds the door open and watches each Alpha carefully lead their very pregnant mate out of the back door and onto the patio. Damien winces and Xavier is immediately co
Third Person's POV Harris swears his stomach wasn't this big yesterday. He feels like his stomach doubled in size overnight. Even though he's now five months pregnant, Harris was before somewhat able to hide it with large baggy shirts, but now there's no way for the Alpha to hide his ever growing abdomen. The car comes to a stop and Harris dreads stepping out of it. Especially since their little town seems so active right now. There are tons of people walking up and down the sidewalk, coming and going from each shop. Harris' hand protectively rests against his stomach, trying to hide his pregnancy. Harris nibbles on his lip before turning to look at his Alpha. “You know, we don't have to go shopping today. And, I can just get something to eat at home. Why don't we just go back!” Harris was hoping to change Atticus' mind, but the larger Alpha simply gave him a soft smile before climbing out of the car. “Damn it!” Harris cursed as he turned and looked out the window, watching all t
