Chapter 13

Gregory's Pov

I sat there, my head in my hands, my thoughts a tangled mess. My mother had already reached the door, ready to leave, but I couldn’t hold it in anymore.

“I don’t understand,” I muttered, my voice barely above a whisper. “I just wish she hadn’t been with someone else before me.”

She paused, hand on the doorknob, and slowly turned back. Her eyes softened, but I could still see the disappointment in them.

I couldn’t bring myself to look up; instead, I kept my gaze on the floor, feeling the weight of everything pressing down on me.

“I’ve never felt like this before,” I continued, the words spilling out now.

“Every time I try to get closer to her, the thought of someone else touching her drives me insane. It’s like I’m losing control, and I don’t know what to do.”

My mother sighed and walked back toward me. She didn’t sit, but I could feel her presence right in front of me.
