~Lexia
"You look great," Adrian murmurs, fixing the collar to my dark outfit. My jaw clenches, as his fingers fiddle with the thick fabric. A massive crowd of people stand on the opposite side of the thin curtain, and the sound of them mulling around is making me nervous.
Adrian pauses, as he notices my gaze wander.
"Be careful out there," he tells me, stepping back. I frown, crossing my arms over my chest.
"Why?"
It's just another speech I'm doing to the portion of the Pack I lead. Mainly about Alphas, and how I plan to take them down. Sure, I agree with my own words, but I'm watched carefully by Kaden at all times.
"People are starting to get suspicious. They are wondering why whatever you say, Kaden manages to answer with some sort of cunning plan," Adrian said.
I close my eyes. It has never been my intention to play them. Nothing more appeals to me than dragging an Alpha down, but what I can't tell these people, is that any wrong move on my part, I'll be killed by Kaden...
"Whether it's raid on major public building, or a protest outside his estate. You say, he answers," Adrian said sternly, but his words didn't effect me. I know this. He's right in every way, but there is nothing I can do to stop it.
"I know, I know," I say, holding my hands up. I turn around, facing the curtain that leads onto the stage. Of course I know. It haunts me every night.
Without another word, I push through the black cloth, revealing myself to the thick crowd of bustling people. Instantly heads turn, talking ceases and a sort of submissiveness settles over them. This must be what it feels like to be an Alpha.
My strides are confident, as I find the centre of the stage. This is what I enjoy. Not the attention, but more like the order and sense that finds these criminals the moment I meet their presence.
"Thank you for coming out," I say, my voice carrying itself over the shadowed faces melting into the crowd. I try not to make eye contact with anyone specifically, but instead try to address them with one sweeping gaze of the courtyard.
It's not like they have anything better to do though, than come to hear me talk. This has become a sort of tradition, my speeches. Many have told me themselves that I bring a familiarity to the bleakness. This place is like a prison, with walls tall and consuming. But I don't mind it.
Call me institutionalised, but I've begun to rely on these walls.
"Protests are going well. I believe we are making progress," I tell them. I don't need a microphone; my words radiate off the silence like a speaker.
Someone coughs, but I ignore them. "In no time, we will be leading this Pack collectively!"
This time, people cheer. That's what they want to hear...They want to rule, and they will. What Kaden doesn't know, is there is more of this rebellion going on behind the scenes. Some of it, even I don't have a handle on it...
And my idea. My idea to find my mate and take over his Pack has to work. People shouldn't be born into power! No matter what Pack it is...And anyway, if it doesn't go to plan, there are people that will mount my head to the wall if I don't obey them.
"We will not stand for oppression!"
People surge forward, weaving around each other through the jungle of limbs, trying to get closer to me on the stage. I don't take a step back; I won't be afraid of my own people.
"We will not be shut down by these self entitled men that call themselves Alphas!" I yell.
Passion surges in my veins. It expresses itself in my voice, my movement and my entire being. It's so powerful, it's entrapped everyone else around me.
And then I lower my gaze, and meet his.
My heart stops, my breath catches in my throat, and I become paralysed from the head down.
Eyes, the most unique colour I've ever seen stare straight at me. But they don't just look, they encompass my entire being, and for a moment, it flickered through my mind that he could control me if he wanted to.
But there was something else there. They way he gazed at me with a direct look of anger in his eyes. Or maybe frustration?
When I draw my eyes from his, I glide my gaze over him. From the silkiest head of obsidian black hair, to the strong jawline. But I don't dare allow myself to even glance at his body. Instead, I look up, trying to regain my composure.
But I can't. Because there's an Alpha here.
"I-I...I." My words stumble over each other, my equilibrium still a little off. Everyone stares at me expectantly, including him.
"Well..." Why can't I find my words? Everything ounce of the speech I had prepared earlier has vanished into the thin air.
Flustered, I stumble back a little, finding myself go red. I've never been so embarrassed in my life...
"She's a fake!" Someone yells from the crowd. What?
I suddenly see a single man pushing his way through the crowd. He even shoulders past the Alpha, causing a look of confusion to cast across his handsome face. But all I can do is concentrate on this stranger as he approaches the stage at a quick rate.
"We know who you are working with Kaden," the man spat, climbing over the edge of the stage. No one has ever bothered assigning guards at any of the speeches I do. We never really saw the point since I thought everyone was on my side.
I guess not.
"I'm not," I choke, but I'm not sure it's loud enough for him or anyone else to even hear.
He's on stage, staring at me with hands clenched at his sides, breathing heavy. His isn't just mad, he's livid, and I truly don't want to be here to see the other end of his emotion.
"Hey buddy," someone says from behind the man, pulling him backward a little by his shoulder so I can see who this savour is. "I don't think you should get any closer to this lady here."
The strange Alpha I've never seen before stands upon the stage, staring directly at me, despite his words directed at the stranger. But instantly his attention is back on the man, as he stumbles back away from him.
"Don't you see what she's doing? She's lying to us!" The stranger yells, probably wishing he was taller since his height hardly compared the Alpha. Or maybe not, because he doesn't seem to realise he's talking to a Powerful being such as this Alpha.
I only managed to see the Alpha grab him by the collar of his shirt before someone grabbed my arm and began dragging me back ward.
"We need to get you out of here," I hear Adrian say in my ear. His hand on my arm pulls me past the curtain, sheltering me from the chants in that strangers favour outside.
Once I'm fully concealed, Adrian lets me go.
"Why the hell is there an Alpha out there?" I question viciously, running my hands through my hair. I'm beyond stressed right now. I just completely embarrassed myself by my mistake out there. How could I do that? I have never been so flustered...
But the moment I looked at that Alpha...I couldn't move. I became an incoherent mess, and I hate myself for it.
"An Alpha?"
Clearly Adrian didn't see him. "There's an Alpha out there. He heard everything."
He must be thinking I'm such a freak. Talking about taking someone such as him down; he's probably laughing.
But he stood up for me...He climbed on stage and potentially saved my ass. Sure, I can look after myself, but I don't want my slowly thinning amount of followers to get any less, by watching me fight against a protestor. It will diminish any respect that I've gained from them.
"Which Alpha?" Adrian questioned, eyes wide with shock, as he can't possibly believe what I am saying. Closing my eyes, I remember exactly how he looked, as if the image of him has been imprinted in my mind.
"I don't know," I mutter honestly. "He had silver eyes, like I've never seen before."
Adrian paused. His expression suggests I just told him the most shocking news he's struggling to grasp.
"That's Grayson, Lexia," Adrian insists, making my heart sink in my chest.
"Grayson, as in the Alpha of Freedom?" I question. That man is the last possibly Alpha I want to have here right now. I would have preferred Noah, Alpha of Harmony to be at this meeting, despite the way it went.
"Alpha of Freedom indeed," a soft, silky voice stated from directly behind me. I spin around, desperate to see who that beautiful voice belongs to, because it's definitely not Adrian.
And as I turn, glancing over my shoulder, my eyes meet those silver ones again.
~LexiaI've never been so terrified in my life. Not only was it the fact that an Alpha stood inches away from me, but that he stared directly at me as if unaffected by the words I just uttered out there on stage. So impassive, is his expression."What are you doing here?" I question, surprised that words could even come out of my mouth around him without them stumbling over themselves. His sensuous mouth curves up into a slight smile. Why am I looking at him like this?"I wanted to talk to you," he says smoothly, tilting his head ever so slightly.Adrian suddenly steps forward, grabbing my arm gently in his hand. He is the complete opposite of me in this situation; calm, professional. My bet is that I am probably still bright red. I mean, I can't even get my hands to stop quivering by my side.
~Lexia"You look beautiful, by the way," Adrian murmurs, helping me out of the car.Ignoring him, I smooth out my dress, gazing around at the beautiful view. This party is being hosted by Isaiah, the Alpha of Passion, in his Pack. Despite his Pack not being in the best condition, he still holds the most lavish parties every year."You don't mind, do you?" I ask anxiously, still looking at Isaiah's estate. People were mulling around, finding their way in at their own pace. Guards stood post in nearly every shadow I glanced out, watching us with careful eyes."Mind what?""What I have to do tonight?" I say, folding my arms across my chest.Looking around, I take in what a shame it is that Alpha Isaiah's Pack went rogue a few year
~Lexia"Listen, you shouldn't be here," Grayson insisted, glancing around as if someone might see him talking to a negligible such as me. I roll my eyes, brushing past him, only to be followed closely. He grabs my arm, forcing me to give him my full attention. "You could at least tell me why you're here."I narrow my eyes at him. What business is it of his what I do? Sure, it's obvious I am not wanted here, where Alpha's mingle with other high bloods, or richer families. That is my backstory; the daughter of a rich businessman who lives in the hills of the Discipline Pack. That way, no one would question my eye colour iconic to my original Pack. But my back story doesn't work with Grayson. He knows who I am, and what hatred I have toward Alpha's. He knows I am a risk, so any excuse I can conjure up is sure to be useless."Why I am here, is none of your business," I snap, narrowing my eyes on the hand still firmly clutching my arm. His gloves are similar to what other men here wear. I
~LexiaNo. It's not possible. Jasper stares at me, waiting for some sort of reaction, but I keep my expression impassive. Because it can't be true. He has to be lying to me. Because mind readers don't exist..."We do exist, quite frankly," Jasper murmurs casually, raising a darkened eyebrow at me. I flinch. "Listen, I have many powers, and the reason why is something I can't discuss with you right now. Which is why-""You're a Phantom Wolf?" I blurt out. Instantly Jasper's face darkens. I don't know why I mentioned it, but it seemed to be the only possible way to get a reaction out of him. And my reasoning behind it, wasn't just the mind reading business. "I said, we can't talk about it here," Jasper repeats, his jaw clenched. So I was right? And no matter how hard my conscious, realistic thoughts tried to tell me that they don't exist, something in the back of my mind hinted the opposite. Like I was supposed to feel that way..."I know it's hard to believe, but trust me, you ne
~LexiaThe first breath of consciousness I had was beyond comfortable. So comfortable, in fact, that at first I believed I was floating on a cloud of softness that I never want to escape from. Instead, I'm lying on a bed that's damn well close enough to it, with sheets wrapped around me so soft and silken, they might as well have been tendrils of the sweetest dreams. I don't remember my bed being this nice...I sit up abruptly, but a pain stabs the upper right half of my brain, forcing me back to the pillow. I'm hung over. But I don't remember drinking last night? Actually, now that I think about, I don't remember anything from last night. Or maybe I do. Violet eyes. Silver eyes. Green eyes? What the hell did I manage to get myself into?Groaning, I force my wary lids open, glad the curtains around me are drawn. It's light enough outside for me to see the room I'm occupying. Nope, I've never seen it in my life. Lifting the sheets, I glance under. I'm not naked...Just mildly strippe
~Lexia"We could go out now, if you would like, to see the Pack," Grayson offers, after I had accepted the plate of bacon again, and finished it. He took the empty plate from me, and slid it into the sink. I glanced outside, shaking my head. "I don't think I could handle the heat."It's true. One step outside, and I'm positive I might faint. It's not because I can't usually handle the heat, but I'm still coming down from the effects of the drug Jasper gave me. Thank the Moon Goddess I didn't stay around to find or what he wanted. "What about this evening?" I ask. Instantly, it's as if I've pushed a button labeled don't touch. He stiffens, his gaze growing cold and rigid. "I don't think that's going to work," he says softly. The way he speaks the words, it's as if he's in pain, like he's fighting off an inner demon. "Maybe tomorrow, I'll be over this drug, and we can go," I say nervously, hoping I was pushing to far. I had accepted his offer as a way to continue my mission to take
~Lexia The moment I stepped outside, I was hit in the face with heat. I know I told Grayson I couldn't go out, but this meant answers from Jasper. I'm going to have to deal with it. Aimlessly, I wander around the side of the main building. If I wasn't concentrating on not fainting from the harsh sun beating down on me, I might have been admiring all of the native tree life around me I've never seen before. I think I circled the house four times before giving up. Jasper isn't here. He said outside, and I'm here, yet he isn't. Annoyed, I rest my back against the side of the building, ignoring the fact that the humidity probably has my hair looking like those native bushes. Suddenly, a rustle in those exact bushes catches my attention. Everywhere you look, there's trees, with Grayson's backyard basically being a forest. Clearly it was too much trouble to remove at least some of the trees, so my assumption is they must be protected. Either that, or people are too scared of what lives
~LexiaMy closed fist hovers tantalisingly close to the wooden door. If I had any confidence in what i am about to do right now, I would be knocking. But I don't, because I have never had to face something so terrifying in my life. Every ounce of my body tells me not to do it. Not to knock. But I do. "Come in," I hear him murmur. Heart in my throat, I turn the knob and wander in. Grayson sits behind his desk, pen between his fingers at he writes on a piece of paper. He looks up when I close the door behind me, the most prominent specks of silver glinting in his eyes as he caught my gaze. His office is impressive. More impressive than mine back at home. Is it even my home anymore?"I know," I say, although my voice comes out breathless and hoarse. Grayson's eyebrows furrow together in confusion, not knowing what I am talking about. I force my eyes to the ground."Sorry?""What...What we are," I tell him, trying to force my voice into sounding somewhat controlled, but instead it shak
~GraysonI lean back into the chair, looking out at the sunrise seeping through the tree leaves. Sitting outside on the deck in the mornings is a ritual of mine I enjoy. Sleeping isn't something I have needed since I became...Lexia is upstairs, completely wiped out from what I did to her only a few hours ago. I tap my fingers against my leg. I'm glad she is finally opening up to me. And giving her pleasure is something I want to do as much as possible. This also happens to be the coolest time of the day, aside from late at night. To me, this is the perfect time to think for a moment. About the uprising, about-"Someone is up early."I sit up, scanning the area. The voice is too familiar to forget, but him being here is something I don't prefer to admit, especially with Lexia being so close. "I'm sure you can relate," I mutter, catching the violet eyes of Jasper. The moment Lexia mentioned him at the party, our plan finally began. He was supposed to get her back to my Pack, and he su
~LexiaI couldn't breathe. I wasn't looking at my mate right now. The man who met my gaze was almost in a trance. Soulless...But so alive."I can explain..." I say before I know what is coming out of my mouth. A blush has crept so deeply onto my face, I'm almost positive my cheeks are stained forever. Standing under his scrutinising gaze, I've never felt so embarrassed in life. I expect his expression to contort in anger. I had snuck into something obviously meant to be private, or at the very least, kept a secret. But his lips curve slowly into a smirk. "Entertain me," he murmurs, his voice taunting and sly. I assume he means my explanation is meant to be somewhat entertaining to him. How mad would he be if I told him it was my unexplainable curiosity that forced me into this room? I can't imagine what the repercussion will be. "I was exploring...I didn't mean to come across this room." Partly true. At first I had told myself not to follow my instinct and go into the room. But
~LexiaJasper refused to take on step into Grayson's house. He stared through the doorway I invited him into, but didn't follow me."You can come in you know," I tell him. I'm trying to be somewhat friendly, and I'm not sure why. I don't owe him anything. Maybe I wanted more information out of him, but by the looks of it, he's not having it."I think I'll go," he muses, glancing over my shoulder and into the house. The look on his face suggests I don't question why he's so anxious about coming in here. Perhaps it's because Grayson might smell the scent he leaves, I'm not sure. But whatever it is, it has him backing away."Thanks for stopping me from finding out a question I've been asking myself for awhile," I mutter sarcastically. He grins, not saying another word before he slipped into the darkness. And then I hear him say, "I did you a favour."❤️••❤️I lay in bed, my hands folded over my stomach. It's late, but I can't bring myself to sleep. Too many thoughts swirl and mix in my h
~LexiaI padded down the stairs, warily keeping my eyes on Grayson. I feel bad for following him, but I don't know what else to do. It's something about the sunset that gets him in edge, and I don't think the curious side of me is going to let it go until I find out why.He walks quickly, looking around as if he's searching for someone. And the moment he doesn't seem to find who he's looking for, his face transforms into fear, and he leads me toward the front door without even knowing it. I keep a fair distance once we make it outside. I keep behind trees, my footsteps light as he strolls into the forest with determination. Where's he going?I pause, my hand against a tree I look around, catching Grayson push through the undergrowth as if it's nothing. My heart flutters with the excitement of following him. If he catches me, I might be in big trouble, but I'm too anxious to turn around now. So I continue to follow him, skipping from tree to tree like a spy in a movie, while Grays
~Lexia Malik stood before me, staring at me as if he didn't believe I truly existed.Cal, the Huntsman had abandoned me not far back from Grayson's home, so it took only a short walk for me to make it there. Except, I had expected to see Grayson when I first opened the front door, so when I was faced with the Alpha of Love, I was surprised."Lexia?" He questioned, obviously still not understanding that I'm standing here. "Malik," I reply, tilting my head.I fold my arms over my chest, wishing he would move out of the way. The setting sun beats on my back, and a glass of water seems like a very good idea right now. And Grayson. I want to see Grayson. "How did you...Where were you?" He questions me, still it budging from his position between me and the inside of the house. I sigh, running my hand through my hair. "Can I see Grayson, please?"Malik looks stunned for a moment. "Right. Ah, he's in the Vengeance Pack right now. I'll let him know you're back."Finally, I follow Malik ins
~LexiaI don't know how long I've been tied here. I'm dehydrated, hungry and extremely tired. Perhaps this state between sleep and consciousness is the real torture. Fighting at the haze that constantly surrounded me was exhausting. Maybe the neglect was too.I began counting the days by the amount of times one man walked in. He would take advantage of my weakness, and drug me, so the nights and mornings would slip by unconscious and useless. The next time the door opened, Reilly walked in. I expected him to drug me, and keep me here even longer..."Pig," I mutter, salvaging enough of my hoarse voice to throw an insult at the red head. He smiles crookedly, strolling is casually with someone in tow. "Delightful as ever," he muses, kicking the door closed behind him. Escaping might have been a possibility. The rope around my wrist seems to have loosened over the course of the past few days, but the drugs render my limbs useless. My mouth still works though. "There are two things I
~Grayson"And when did Lexia go missing?"Resting my elbows on my desk, I look directly at the questioner in front of me. An immaculate, proper lady sits across my desk, clutching a pad of pristine paper in her hands. A Detective from the Discipline Pack, anxious to find out where my mate has vanished to. She looks painfully similar to Lexia too. Despite different facial structure, and her square rimmed glasses, she had the same green eyes and slightly off coloured blonde hair. But I have to admit, she is hardly as stunning as Lexia."I don't know...Six days maybe?" I can't remember, because every moment has me on edge. I have never felt this much pain in my life, not knowing where she was. It brought me back to the day she first declined my offer.Or maybe, the day I found out she was fucking her assistant. I've never wanted someone dead so much in my life."Four days, actually."I glance to the left side of Detective Simone. Landon, Alpha of Power sits up right beside her. He star
~LexiaI lay back on the exquisitely comfortably bed that I have recently claimed as my own, staring at the ceiling. Becoming accustomed to the fact that this Pack requires many to not wear clothes to escape the relentless heat is hard, but I am seriously considering joining.Luckily for me, I notice, as I stare out the open window, that the sun is on a straight course to set behind the horizon. I was almost dozing off, when a strange skittering sound had my eyes shooting open. Looking at the floor, I notice the tiniest pebble laying there, its origin unknown. Frowning in confusion, I crawl off the edge of the bed, picking up the strange rock. Am I imagining things, or is Jasper playing with my mind again?Suddenly, another rock appears, but this time I catch it fly through the window straight toward me. I yelp as it hits me square in the jaw.Furious, I stride to the window, ducking my head out. A whole floor down, on solid ground, Grayson stands, a decent sized rock in his hand. Be
