Chapter 2

I woke up to the sun seeping in through the window. I didn't want to get up. Despite sleeping all night, my body was still exhausted. I blamed it on the worry of being away from home.

I finally got up and walked to the sliding door that led to a balcony. The view, which showed the back of the hotel, was the beautiful forest that covered most of the area.

I thought about what my parents would be doing right now. I had brought shame to my family and to my pack. I had no idea whether Alpha Nicolas already knew that I ran away.

I was worried about the repercussions my family would have to face, but I was convincing myself that this was the right decision.

After asking Marie for directions to the best place to have breakfast in, she led me to the diner I had seen while getting here.

She offered to make me breakfast, which was complimentary of the hotel, but I wanted some fresh air.

I was sitting alone in one of the booths toward the back. It was around 10 in the morning, but things seemed to be running slow in town.

"Mind if I take a seat with you?" A brown haired guy asked me, as he took a seat in my booth.

"Go ahead," I said, more to myself than him.

He was already sitting down. It didn't take much to figure out he was a werewolf, and a strong one at that.

He ordered a coffee and some pancakes when the girl came to take his order. I noticed she gave him a lasting look. I understood why.

He was attractive- with hazel eyes, a nice tan, and strong build.

The girl left soon after and didn't take long to return with his meal.

All the while, the guy looked at me, but didn't break the silence. I said nothing, only acknowledging his stare but kept reading my book.

"You do know that you are trespassing, right?" He asked me, after taking a bite from his pancakes.

"I wasn't aware that there was a pack here, but either way, I'm passing through," I responded while looking directly at him.

"I'm Jace, Beta of the Midnight Moon Pack," the guy said, out-stretching his hand for me to shake.

"Leila," I answered, shaking his hand.

"You know, you give off an air of power. Yet, you are running around another packs territory, alone," Jace said to me, with a questioning look.

"Like I said, I'm just passing through. I'm not going to disturb the pack and I'll make sure to keep out of the forest," I dryly replied.

"It doesn't make you less of a threat," he cocked an eyebrow, and gave me a look I saw my own dad give rogues who he thought would be trouble.

"So, what would assure that your pack is safe with my presence?" I asked him.

"Most of the rogues who cross our territory, don't leave alive," he said, with a threatening tone.

He was trying to intimidate me, but it wasn't working. His aura gave off him having some power in his pack, but he wasn't the Alpha.

His tone had no effect on me whatsoever. The fact that I was no longer part of a pack anymore didn't help the intimidation he was aiming for.

"Are you implying I should watch myself from your pack?"

"It depends on your intentions. When do you plan to leave?" Jace continued eating calmly, like if we weren't talking about possibly eliminating me.

"I'll be gone by the end of the week, for sure," I told him, with a steady voice.

He was a few years older than me. I was sure of that.

"That's plenty of time for an attack, which only leaves one option."

"What option?" My appetite was long gone, and I only continued to drink my soda.

I ran away from a controlling pack, to now be on the mercy of another one. Rogues had been treated roughly in my pack and it wasn't any different in others.

"You need to plea the Alpha for permission to stay the week," Jace responded, with a smirk on his face.

"I'll be gone tomorrow," I answered quicker than I'd wished.

I didn't want to confront any Alpha's because I feared that they might know either Nicolas, or the Alpha from my pack.

"Why are you so nervous all of a sudden? Committed a crime you're trying to hide?" Jace looked amused and curious.

I wasn't sure what would be best. Confide in him and ask that he keeps my presence a secret, or run before he had a chance to take me to his Alpha.

"I'm not nervous, I just don't respond well to authority," I answered, breathing a sigh of relief.

Jace raised an eye brow and smirked once again.

"What is it with rogues and having a problem with rules? I will never understand that," Jace said, shaking his head.

"It's the reason you all don't last out in the open. There is no pack to back you up."

I didn't say anything to his thoughts about rogues. I had never experienced rogue life before, but what I had seen- it was difficult.

"Sometimes it's easier to just count on yourself," I replied, after silence had fallen between us.

"You look young, are you even 18 yet?" Jace questioned.

"I'm 18. You?" I asked him, now curious about the wolf in front of me.

"I am freshly turned 22," Jace said, looking proud of himself.

"So, what's the verdict? Can I stay for today without your Alpha finding out? I'll make sure to leave early tomorrow morning?" I asked him, trying to sound flirty.

He was being overly friendly with me, so it was likely he was mate-less.

"If a wolf from the pack can supervise you all day, then I can let your presence slip," he said, leaning closer to me and rubbing his thumb on my hand.

"And who would the wolf be?" He grinned and I considered leaving right after I was out of the diner.

It's not that Jace wasn't good looking, because he was. I just feared his intentions, or what he thought might happen between us.

After he paid, Jace walked me to his grey sleek car, which was parked in front of the diner.

"Where are we off too?" I asked him as he drove off.

I didn't know this town very well, but I needed to know where I was at. If I made myself vulnerable, anyone might take advantage of that.

"There's about forty miles of free land for running between our pack and the one next to us. No wolf hangs out in the outskirts of the land so it gives us more space," Jace replied.

I was amazed at the beauty of the forest where Jace took me. I shifted into my white wolf behind a tree while Jace shifted some trees away.

I was a pure white wolf, my four paws tainted with black. It was a trait that ran in our family and my father was proud of it.

Jace came out with the clothes he had been wearing, in his mouth. His wolf was a light brown, similar to the color of his hair, and he was significantly bigger than me.

I followed Jace as he led us to a clearing that he claimed would amaze me. I shouldn't trust him so easily.

After all, he had my life in his hands. Without a thought, and against my better instincts, I went with him to the so called beautiful clearing.

In no time, we made it to our desired location. Jace went behind a big tree and changed. I went the opposite direction and put my clothes back on.

"It's just a few more trees ahead," Jace said when we were both together.

I was frozen in place once I saw it. A huge lake stood next to where the trees cleared out.

It was breath taking.

Jace was satisfied with my expression and led me closer to the lake.

We sat down side by side near the shallow waters of the lake.I took off my sandals and folded the bottom part of my jeans, so that I could dip my feet in the water."You are a very beautiful girl, you know that?" Jace told me, as he caressed my cheek and moved a few strands of hair that had fallen over my face."Thank you," I replied, feeling a light blush falling over my face."I hardly see any rogues who are girls, much less have them traveling alone."I wasn't looking at him. So far, he hadn't tried anything, but my best shot of taking him on, was running. Yes, it had been a very bad idea to come alone with him."Yeah?" I simply asked."Dylan, The Alpha, is not a very forgiving or generous person. But, he is my best friend. I'm sure if you ask permission to be part of the pack, and with my influence, you could stay here permanently."I turned to look at Jace. He was being serious."What would the price for that be?" I asked, knowing I wouldn't like his answer."I really like you.

I woke up to loud knocking on my door. I tried to fix my hair and look decent enough before opening the door. I found a grinning Jace standing there, looking wide awake. He looked me up and down slowly, his grin morphing into something else. I looked down to what I was wearing and tried to walk away into the restroom. I had on some short shorts with a singlet.Jace had looked at me that same way he did yesterday while we were getting in the lake.I came out after changing into a pair of clean jeans, leaving the singlet on."How are you doing?" Jace was lying down on his back in my bed, with his hands under his head."I need to buy some clothes," I told him as I looked inside my back pack for my toiletries."I'll take you to the mall today. The closest one is about half hour, so we should leave soon." I looked at him, weirdly, but nodded my head. The mall was packed with people. I didn't expect any less, it was the mall after all. I went through several stores and settled with five

Leila wants to join the pack," Jace told the Alpha."Actually, I'm leaving later this afternoon," I said, while staying behind Jace."The hell you are!" The Alpha yelled, before Jace could open his mouth."What? Why?" Jace asked me, holding my hands in his. The Alpha moved to stand between us and ripped my hands from Jace's hold."Mine!" He snapped at Jace.Jace looked between the Alpha and me with a shocked expression."Dylan, she's- your mate?" Jace slowly asked him, keeping his gaze on me."Yes, and I will not allow you or any other male to touch her," he replied to Jace, in a commanding tone."Understood, Alpha," Jace said, nodding his head and looking at me with a defeated expression. The Alpha, Dylan, grabbed my hand in his and started walking away.I yanked my

I'll call him over so that he can drop them off," he replied, hesitantly letting go of me."Do you plan on kidnapping me for a long time?" I asked him as I got comfortable on the couch."You're my mate, I'm not kidnapping you," Dylan said, frowning at me."You are kidnapping, but whatever. My things are at the hotel I was in. I would really appreciate it if you ordered someone to get them," I told him, when I finally settled happily on the couch.Dylan raised an eye brow and looked at me weirdly."What?" I walked inside the hotel only to be stopped by a beaming Marie."How's your day been sweetheart?" Marie asked with a friendly smile."It's been okay. I don't want to sound rude, but I'm in a hurry. Sorry," I told her as I started walking up the stairs.Marie winked at me and grinned, which caused me to give her a weird look."I understand. Jace keeping you busy? That boy is such a cutie, don't you think?" We were almost at my room and Marie was still following along. To me, it was obvious there was nothing between Jace and me, but she probably read too much into things yesterday when Jace dropped me off."Yup, that's it. Now I really need to go. I'll see you later Marie."I quickly opened my door and closed it without waiting for her reply. It wasn't my intention to be rude but my things needed to get packed quickly so that Dylan didn't notice my absence. Most of the clothes were still in my back pack. I figured it was the perfect time to keep my vulnerable act on.I slowly walked to the door and unlocked it. As soon as the click was heard, Dylan made his way into the room."We are going to talk about this," Dylan stated, before taking in my appearance."Baby, what's wrong?" He asked, as he embraced me."You are so demanding Dylan, you know that?"Dylan loosened his hold on me and grinned."I am, aren't I?""It wasn't a compliment!" I snapped."Why don't you want to meet the pack?" Dylan questioned, moving us to sit on the bed."I already told you why. I just met you today. Don't you think it's a little too soon to be introduced to them?" I said, trying my best to make it sound logical."You're right, but it still has to be soon. They have to know that you are my mate and everyone has to respect you," Dylan caressed my cheek and was looking at me lovingly. We spent the rest of the afternoon in his house. After the heavy make out session we had, and how crazy my hormones and emotions felt, I was sure it was all because of the mark."I waited too long. We should've mated the day I found you. The mark should've been made the minute I laid eyes on you," Dylan replied, not sounding in the least sorry. His words weren't rough- more like he was stating a fact. Nonetheless, the dam in my eyes broke loose and I was in tears again. I wasn't sobbing, but the tears rolled down my cheek and I felt depressed."Why are you crying?" Dylan asked me tenderly, trying to embrace me."I don't know," I said, letting him hold me. It was stupid of me to cry, but I couldn't control it. I felt like a pregnant woman with my emotions and hormones all over the place. We stayed in bed for about an hour. The tears were long gone, but Dylan and I remained together. It was obvious he was worried about my unexplainable waterworks."What do you want for breakfast?" Dylan asked me as he rummaged through his fridge."Do

Dylan was banging outside the door, telling me to open it.I sat down on the edge of the bed and allowed myself to weep. I hated how out of control my emotions were.Since Dylan marked me last night, I spent all my time crying, craving his company, or making out with him.Dylan was threating to break down the door if I didn't open it. I had just made it to the lake when Dylan pounced on me.'You're a cheater, you know that?' I asked him through my mind.'You have been yelling that. It doesn't make it true,' Dylan replied. He was nuzzling his head in my neck. Our fur was such a contrast to each other. While his Wolf was entirely black, mine was white. The only color in my body was from my four paws, which were lightly tinted in black. Other than that, I was snow white."I've been yelling that because it's what you are, a cheater!" I exclaimed, as I shifted into my human form.I lied down on the ground, and Dylan's large Wolf settled himself on top of me."Shift back," I told him, as I held up my arms to give him a push."Being faster than you does not make me a cheater," Dylan said right after he took his human form. His naked body was lying over mine. His hands were on either side of my head, holding his weight on his elbows.Despite the small space between us, I could feel his very hard member pressing against my

He replied by changing the subject. The rest of the walk to the lake was quiet. I didn't feel like making conversation and Dylan was deep in thought.Once we arrived at the lake, I'd basically come to terms with the idea of Dylan leaving me. It hurt like hell to think about it, but if that was what he wanted- I would accept it.After all I had put him and the pack through, I deserved to be banished."The water looks nice," I said, dropping Dylan's hand and making my way closer to the water. The sun was high up in the sky, hitting the lake at a perfect angle to make it glitter whenever small currents moved the water."It does," Dylan agreed. He came to my side and put his arm over

Her enticing scent, her soft pale skin, her beautiful features- everything about Leila was perfect. But whenever she gave me that look, both my Wolf and I just wanted to bow down to her and do as she said.I groaned once I had her in my arms. Holding her in my arms was enough to satiate my Wolf and me, at least for now."I'll drive," I told her, as I walked her to the passenger side of the car."Fine, but you better hurry up. He's awake

I was left completely shocked right after I opened the door to our room. Seeing how clean and organized everything was, reminded me that Dylan had wrecked the room right after the fight.I was standing right next the door, looking at the neatly done bed, the new decorations, a not broken coffee table, and a new set of black leather couches. The couches sat in front of a bigger flat screen TV than the one we had before."I uh, had the room- house actually- cleaned out," Dylan said, sounding slightly uncomfortable.I turned to face him, his dark eyes gone. Grayish blue orbs were staring at me, looking like he was waiting for me to say something."I love it, thank you!"
