She trudged down the path feeling giddy. A blush crimsoned her cheeks as the memories of the night before flooded her. She was so happy. In eighteen years she had never felt this way.
A bad night had finally ended on a good note. He had been gentle yet so passionate when he took her innocence. She felt complete. Satisfied.
She got to be herself around him and although it was a short period she felt a connection with him.
She wished she didn't have to leave but the thought of her stepmother Medusa was enough to wake her at dawn. Armed with a flimsy excuse which she could only come up with since her whole mind was fixated on the night before, she increased her pace.
She inhaled the fresh air as she neared home.
A lump grew in her throat when she saw their roof from afar off. She released a deep sigh into the air and twirled around facing the rugged path as if to say goodbye.
For once, she wished she was free to be with the stranger who had made her feel a spark just in one night. She closed her eyes and offered a silent prayer to the moon goddess.
'Please let me see him again. Soon.'
She left her earring there as a symbol of her love and had also taken his pen with her. Jasmine would cherish it for as long as she lived. She could never forget him. He was her savior and someday she would see him.
Jasmine Peyton was a timid lady and had endured being hated by her family for years because she was born out of her father’s cheating affair.
Being treated like the Pack’s slave as she came from a family of Omegas made her reserved and quiet. But Dylan had made her feel more than a Pack slave.
She pounded the brass knocker to signify that she was home. No one responded. Where did they go? She repeated it twice and was about to give up when someone opened the door and a familiar head snuck out of it.
"Father." She furrowed her brows at him in confusion when she saw the look on his face and what he was doing.
A look of fear was in his eyes - a clear indication that he was terrified. He was visibly shaken. But what happened?
Why didn't he open the door fully? Her father darted his eyes sideways before pulling her into the house. It all happened fast.
She watched him bolt the door tightly and take fast strides through the hallway. This was unlike her father. Why was he being extra careful? And why was the house silent?
She followed him into the main house. When Jasmine entered, she soaked in the living area with a more confused look. What was going on? Most of their belongings were missing.
"Father, our things are missing." She pointed out but he didn't answer.
Instead, he dashed into his room. Set to get rid of her confusion, she followed him into his room and was surprised to see everyone throwing their things into their traveling boxes. The room was almost empty.
They seemed lost in their world and no one cared to explain what was going on to her. Were they robbed? It wasn't possible.
"Levi, what is going on?" She decided to ask her elder brother who was struggling to zip his bag.
He ignored her and continued with what he was doing. She flicked her gaze to her stepmother. Instead of shouting at her for coming late, she was emptying her jewelry into her box.
None of them answered. Then she knew something was up. She didn't need anyone to tell her what to do next.
Jasmine dashed to her corner of the closet and started arranging her things so she could join them. It didn't matter if anything was suspicious. She could always ask them later when they were settled. For now, they had to flee.
And if she wasn't smart enough to pack her things and follow them, they would leave her alone. She would bear the repercussions in the end, especially since they hated her and had always wanted to get rid of her.
Dylan had settled down in the Pack house and was awaiting news on his father's death. He leaned back in the chair and closed his eyes. He was deep in thought.
Dylan was still trying to get over the news of his father's death. He thought everything that was happening was a joke but when Brandon and Kieran, his cousin, showed him his father's casket, he knew it was real.
He had swollen eyes and was sapped of strength because he vowed not to taste any food until his father's killer was brought before him. Even if he ate, it would taste bland in his mouth so there was no need.
This was his way of appeasing his father after being a wayward son who had gone away for too long. He hoped his father rested in peace. Soon he would bring his father's killer to book.
He felt a familiar presence in the room immediately. Dylan didn't have to flip his eyes open to know who it was.
"Speak, Kieran." He instructed his cousin who was in charge of the investigation.
"We have news, Dylan." Kieran said.
Dylan jerked up from the seat immediately. The long-awaited news has finally come. He swallowed audibly as he composed himself.
"Who?" He growled in an angry voice.
"We don't know who in particular but we know the family who killed the late Alpha." Kieran relayed to him.
"I don't care! I need them! I will punish him and his family for daring to kill my father. Death will be too sweet a punishment. Who!?" Dylan snarled and curled his fists until they whitened.
"The Peytons poisoned your father but we couldn't find them. They all seemed to have run away." He told him.
"Wait for me, Brady, please." Jasmine shouted at the top of her voice as she struggled to zip up her small bag.She growled and dashed out of the house pulling it along without her when the zip refused to budge. Realising that no one had waited for her, she ran behind them as fast as her legs could carry her.She was still confused as to why they were fleeing and since no one was talking even though she had repeated the question, she chose to leave the matter until later when they were settled. That was if they answered her.Living with them, she was used to not getting answers from them especially since they thought her too inquisitive. A smile twitched on her face when Dylan popped up in her thoughts.Only he had made her feel comfortable. They had done more of knowing each other. Although she still felt sore, she felt content. Pushing the thoughts of Dylan away, she increased her pace.Jasmine's brows arched in confusion when she saw her father whisper some unheard words to her bro
"Alpha." One of the guards who was let into the room at Dylan's command bowed his head as he spoke."Speak." Dylan was in no mood for long talks. He only hoped they had found the traitors who had a hand in his father's death. He gripped the edge of his seat tight until his knuckles whitened. He couldn't wait to snuff life out of them after torturing them for days. So many thoughts of what to do to them filled his head and he couldn't wait to actualize them."We have no news yet but…""What?" Dylan roared."How many more hours will it take you to find my father's killers? I swear on my father's grave that I will make you a scapegoat if any one of them escapes." Dylan growled. The guard was visibly shaken by the harsh tone of Dylan's voice but he understood that he was grieving."Then what are you waiting for!?" Dylan snarled."Get out!" Dylan was furious. He could not bury his father until he avenged his death. Only then would he be at peace but there was still no news. He paced the r
She could feel an adrenaline rush through her body, making her shudder under his cold but scorching gaze. They were surrounded by absolute silence that grasped her heart in fear while she dreadfully waited for his judgment that he wanted to pronounce.Looking at her, Dylan was sure that she was probably agitated by the situation, but so was he. Nevertheless, he would never temper justice with mercy.I would give her what she and she sought for. Yet when she looked at him and their eyes met, couldn't help but notice the long of pity in her eyes, though he swore in his heart before coming there not to let whoever it was go scot-free.Yet, his heart was betraying his head that continuously reminded him not to give in to the voice telling him to rethink the proclamation. But he shrugged and passed a deadly look that made her lower her head in fear.“For killing the alpha, you're…" Dylan drawled, making Jasmine's heart beat abnormally. “You shall be nothing, locked in this kingdom and wil
Jasmine blinked her eyes in utter confusion. How on earth did he expect her to know about her family's whereabouts when she had no idea why they were running in the first place.“But I don't know where they are,” she replied timidly.Dylan shook his head. “Then I see you prefer to stay here for your family's safety,” he said, sounding disappointed.Family's safety? She would gladly give out the details if she knew where they were just to save herself, besides they did it first.“I really don't know, believe me, I have no reason to lie.”“Oh you don't?” He raised a mocking brow. “But they are your parents, so that's a given.” He said, swirling around as he walked back to the window. He resumed his previous position, and silence engulfed them. It was quite uncomfortable for Jasmine as she kept imagining the worst.“Since you insist on keeping their whereabouts, Jane here would lead you through what you have to do,” he said, and the door opened revealing a lady who stepped in and walked
Her heartbeat was beating faster than normal, with his face just an inch away from hers.“I see you're scared of death, but I'm not surprised, those who appear scared are mostly the ones that kill within mercy. Just like you killed my father,” he spat.Jasmine was getting confused. She had no idea what to say. He badly wanted to believe that she was hiding her family and she had nothing to prove her innocence.“I… I know you don't believe me-”“That's because I see no reason to believe you,” he said, cutting her off.“I'm not a bad person, you know me, remember?” She asked.Dylan slightly creased his face. “Remember what?” He asked.“Remember that day we first met? I couldn't even protect myself, so how can I hurt anyone?” She asked with her eyes begging for him to believe her.He frowned, confusing her. “I don't know what you're talking about,” he said, earning a deep frown from her.“What do you mean by you don't know? Don't you remember the first time we might? Can't you recall wha
Dylan really wasn't comfortable with the lady punishing Jasmine herself. I should be the one punishing her, she was his slave and not anyone else. He should go get her, but he hesitated for a while. Contemplative if he should or not. He was so upset with himself that he even stepped back for her for no reason. Dylan paced inside his room while in deep thoughts. He really felt like going back to get her, but after some time of contemplating and calculating his decision, he sat down on the couch with a sigh. He should just let whatever that was bound to happen beside him wasn't going to defend his father's murderers.Jasmine was sweaty badly, her palms rubbing together in fear as she knelt down in front of the lady who stood tall and glared at her vulnerable state.“So you are under my control now,” she tilted her head to the side and scanned her. “I wonder what to do with you,” she said, rubbing her chin thoughtfully.“Maybe I should tell the guards to tie you under the hot sun. No, t
Their lips were just a bit apart, and she felt the need to cover the distance between them. However, she remained patient while she took the lead and waited for him. He was simply a bit from her when he moved his face to the left.“Go to your cell and remain there until I call for you,” he whispered in her ear, and she trembled when she had his deep voice in her ear.She snapped her eyes open and stared at him with a look of surprise. Their eyes spoke without words, and Jasmine knew instantly that Dylan was just toying with her. She found that rude and mean that he could just tease her like that. She sat on the bed and swung her legs down. Dylan moved back to a standing posture as he watched her walk past him.“You could've just let her do whatever she wanted,” Jasmine said, unable to stop herself.Dylan frowned but remained silent. He wanted to know what else was on her mind and how much he got to her just now.“You shouldn't have helped me, besides I thought you hate me, so why both
She smiled slyly. “Think about it, I'm sure the people would love to hold a welcome home party for you,” she said with a sweet smile.Dylan looked around while nodding slowly. “I get you, but I don't need any of that now,” he said, looking back at heShe became agitated. “Well... If not now, then when?“Maybe when we've finally sorted everything out properly and my father has found his justice for the untimely death.” He said bitterlShe inhaled and nodded. “Then I must let you rest. I'm sure his Highness must be tired, and the journey must have been stressful,” she said while bowing her heaDylan looked at the lady. He wanted to correct her because he could still remember his journey here. It was rough, but roughly good, he must admit. It wasn't as bad as one who viewed it. The journey wasn't to his expectation, but he also liked the way it went. At least he had his first time with the girl who also gave her first time to him. He valued her for that, but he also hated her for his fat
Anita turned around only to see Dylan and Travis standing there."Guards!" Dylan called angrily. "Cease her and check her room to see if there's anything there. Tomorrow would be set for your punishment."Dylan watched the guards dragging her away as she begged for him to listen to her. "Your Highness, I saw this in her room and many more." Dylan grabbed the letters and only then held information."That woman," he growled angrily."Travis," Jasmine beamed and quickly rushed to hug him. "Oh my God, I'm glad you're okay.""Yeah me too," he hugged her back. She pulled back and turned to Andrew. "You look okay as well, though as if you had a heart attack?" She teased and he smiled at her."Believe me when I say I never thought a heart attack would come in handy." He winked and she laughed. The rest were confused by their interaction but Jasmine and Andrew understood each other. She turned next to see Janice which made her smile widen."Janice, I've missed you. Where were you?""I'm sorr
"Who are you?" The king asked angrily. His aunt shifted closer to the king to whisper into his ears. The king's eyes widened in surprise."Oh so you're Dylan, my rival. I never knew I would be having you here tonight if not I could've been expecting your presence. But nothing has gone wrong and I think it would be wise if I give you the honor to serve the king which most servants find hard."Dylan knew better that he was mocking him and he wasn't surprised when the king signaled the servants to bring in drinks."Let him serve the king," the king laughed devilishly. Dylan clenched his fists when the guard offered him drinks to hold up for the king. His aunt smirked at him.So this was where she was all this while. He should've known better than to expect anything less from that family. Just remembering everything that he got to know from Sebastian made him boil but he held it in.Dylan bore the humiliation until he was done being a slave under the king. He waited patiently and slowly
Dylan felt restless and he felt the need to talk to someone, anyone in particular. He stood and found himself walking to the dungeon only to hear a sound coming from close by.He paid close attention and rushed over when he saw a guard struggling with blood all over him."What happened?""A... Attack. We're under attack," he struggled to say. Dylan looked close and saw the stabbed wound on his chest. He stood up and rushed over to where he believed Andrew was but no one was there. He became worried she quickly rushed to Jasmine's room but it was also empty. "No!" He screamed as his heart beat in his ears loudly."This can't be happening," he said while fidgeting in the room. What is going on? His rival was fast enough or maybe he was distracted instead."I see everything seems to be a shock to you," he heard a familiar voice from close by."Sebastian," he spat angrily as he turned around."I wasn't expecting you to find out this way, in fact, I wasn't expecting you to find out at al
Dylan's eyes scanning the crowd before him. The people had gathered in the main square, eager to hear what their leader had to say. They whispered amongst themselves, wondering what this urgent announcement could be about."Dylan, Dylan, Dylan!" they chanted, as he raised his hands for silence."Everyone," Dylan began, his voice carrying across the square. "Today, I stand before you with a heavy heart. It has come to my attention that one of our own has betrayed us. One of our own has been stolen from the kingdom's treasury."The crowd gasped, their eyes widening in shock and disbelief."I speak of none other than my own friend, Travis," Dylan continued, his voice trembling with emotion. "He has been banished from this kingdom, never to return."The crowd erupted into a mixture of cheers and jeers. Some were happy to see justice being served, while others were outraged at the banishment of one of their own.Dylan continued to speak, his voice growing louder and more forceful. "I assu
Dylan sent her away after and she dragged herself away from him. Dylan paced around his room and he found it rather unsettling with her calm and silent she was. What was going on with her?He shook his head and decided to go and check on things himself. He also needed to go to the meeting with the elders concerning the war. He went off to the place and was startled to see the guards already there and waiting for him."What is going on?" He asked them with a frown."There's something you need to know, alpha," they said immediately as he sat down."What is that?" He asked with a creased face."We found out that someone is stealing from us."He furrowed his brows. "Who could that can?""Well, before your return Travis wanted to keep everything safe so for that reason he decided to keep things under his watch and that means taking in some things is his responsibility.""He took the royal guard for example until you returned before he gave them back to you. Well with that said, my lord Tra
Dylan was stunned by the news he just got. He was already feeling guilty for locking Jasmine up and he was already regretting everything he did but he tried not to let it disturb him. Yet he had this feeling like she failed her and he needed her to trust him.He sighed and looked around the room in frustration. He couldn't even trust her and yet here he was bothering her after all the lies she told him. However, he felt alone and needed her by his side. He suddenly felt like she should be worth him and not far from him. What was he going to do? He felt lost and he needed advice but had no one to meet. The only person he could meet for advice also betrayed him. Who should be really trusted then. He shook his head as ye tried to control his thoughts. Was there any chance for him to find true love? He doubted there was. Not after what has happened to him. He looked around the room and sighed. What should he do?He loved Jasmine but she ended up breaking him as well. She broke him the mos
She took in deep breaths as she stared through the door and watched as they all walked around. She felt relieved but at the same time bothered by their presence, just needed to escape."So what is the plan?" She heard his voice from behind her."What else than to make sure we get out of here." She immediately crouched to his level. "I think it's best if we act it up, like act as if you're having a heart attack or something.""Would that work? I mean there is a higher possibility that it won't work at all.""Well we have no other option but to try." She revealed and sighed. "I just want to leave this place before it's too late," she replied."How can you do that?" "Simply by act, exactly what I just told you. That would be the simplest way out of here and you know I'm telling the truth.""I guess you're correct but I think guards wouldn't fall for such tricks immediately.""Then it's our job to make them fall. Look, I'm trying my best to leave here and you and I know how impossible it
"Hello…" She called him but he refused to speak to her or even turn to look at her."Aren't you… aren't you the physician who treated me?" Jasmine asked as she approached him and began to speak to him. After hearing that, he turned his eyes but didn't turn to look at her."What are you doing here sir? Did Sebastian send you here after he got stabbed or who did?" Jasmine asked him and on hearing that, Andrew turned to look at who was talking to him."You….I recognize you. Why are you here? Who brought you here?" Andrew asked her as soon as he saw Jasmine and recognized her."It was not a funny experience sir. I got kidnapped and ended up here." Jasmine replied simply."And no one has come to save you?" He asked in surprise."Yes, no one did and I even doubt if anyone even knows that I went missing." She replied again."And how is what you are saying even possible? Was Dylan the one that put you here? What did you do to him for him to keep you here ?" He asked her but she just sighed."
She leaned against the cool surface and waited for the dizziness to subside. That smell... She remembered it somewhere but couldn't put her finger on it. Her eyes focused on the wall again and she realized that it was getting lighter. She looked around cautiously but everything seemed normal.Nothing was out of place and the floor was covered by the carpet. Everything looked exactly the same. Except for the feeling in the air. It felt thick and oppressive but at the same time warm and comfortable. The strange scent began to disappear when a bright light appeared. No shadows. No dark shapes. Just light. It was definitely coming from the windows, which were open. How did it get open without opening it first? The only explanation was that somebody opened it. Or perhaps... she thought as a shiver ran through her. The smell was getting stronger. She closed her eyes and concentrated on listening closely.Except that the smell continued, stronger and stronger. Was that what she smelled ear
