Lucifer had felt an underlying tension since he woke that morning, a nagging unease gnawing at the edges of his mind. Despite the discomfort, he buried himself in work, hoping it would pass. His eyes scanned through documents on his desk when a knock interrupted his focus.

His assistant, Marcus, entered the office, holding an envelope.

"Sir, this just came in. It was marked urgent," Marcus said, his voice laced with caution as he placed the envelope on Lucifer’s desk.

Lucifer eyed the envelope, a strange feeling settling in the pit of his stomach. "From who?" he asked, his tone sharp.

Marcus shook his head. "No return address. Just said it was important, for your eyes only."

Lucifer studied his assistant for a moment, then nodded. "You can go," he muttered, dismissing him. Marcus gave a slight bow and left the room, closing the door behind him.

Lucifer hesitated for a second, his instincts warning him that whatever was inside this envelope would change everything.
