Cassandra’s point of view:
I watched as he ran a hand into his wet sleek hair.He appeared phenomenal.I literally stopped breathing when his nose twitched. He could sense my presence and smell my scent. Shit! For a moment, I panicked as I realized that I had been shamelessly goggling at him.Still, before he could come seek me out, I stepped out of the bushes.A frown was etched on his forehead once his eyes locked with mine.I smiled at him before mumbling quietly, “Thank you for saving me.”Even though my words sounded indistinctly to my own ears, he heard me.The creases on his forehead vanished, and understanding crossed his face.“I didn’t do that for you. I was just trying to keep my pack in line.” He said grimly, sounding indifferent, almost apathetic.Okay, that hurt! I couldn’t tell why but I was hurt by his words. It didn’t help when Sierra howled in agony from the back of my mind.‘What’s wrong with us?’ I asked my wolf.‘I don’t know.’ Sierra replied, shifting in unease.‘Why do we feel like this around Alpha Dalton?’ I asked in anguish.Even though Alpha Dalton’s words were hurtful, I stayed put. I still wanted to be here with him.It felt as if my heart and my mind were no longer willing to cooperate with me.Feeling his eyes on me, I slowly nodded before meekly asking, “Can you teach me some racing techniques?”Dalton agreed with a shrug, “Sure.”I was momentarily stunned that he had instantly agreed to teach me. I couldn’t help but smile when Sierra yipped with glee.“For that, we’ll have to shift.” Alpha Dalton jutted his chin towards a nearby large tree.I understood what he was hinting at when he exchanged a look with me. With a nod, I stepped back before turning around and heading towards the tree.Once I was out of his sight, I undressed myself using the tree as a cover. My heart raced in anticipation while my wolf ached to be free.Sierra could not wait to be running in the woods. She wanted to feel the earthy soil underneath her feet and to smell that sweet forest morning scent full of nature.Letting my wolf instincts kicked in, I felt my senses heightened.Everything else faded away. My sole focus was on taking in the earthy air blowing with the wind, becoming one with the smell, noise and blissful nature aura.My heart pounded when I felt the soil underneath my feet. I knelt down on all fours and let Sierra gain complete control. I felt my bones snap while adjusting to that of my wolf’s.I breathed in when I felt my fingers and toes elongate into claws and dig into the soiled ground. I released the tension in my jaw when I felt it widen while my skin tingled as my fur extended. When I walked out from behind the tree, Sierra stilled the moment we caught Alpha Dalton staring at us from the distance. He was already in his wolf form.‘What’s wrong?’ I asked Sierra when she refused to close the distance between the Alpha and us.Sierra’s response was quick, ‘Something is wrong!’ But before I could do or say anything about it, I felt a strong pull forcing both Sierra and I to approach Alpha Dalton. At this point, everything that happened next was oddly weird.Sierra and I wasn’t the ones feeling this pull. It seemed like Alpha Dalton was feeling the pull as well. It was as if our wolves were madly attracted to one another, more so than we were. And, everything appeared blurry. It promptly got hard to focus on our own thoughts. We couldn’t differentiate between right and wrong. It was all blurry.I couldn’t avoid the sudden temptation and neared Alpha Dalton first.Through Sierra’s eyes, I watched as Alpha Dalton’s eyes filled up with confusion, and a slight longing which was unmistakably apparent. He couldn’t figure out what was happening too but he was trying to fight it.Still, like me, he could neither fight it nor his wolf.Driven by his desire, Alpha Dalton flung forward and pressed me to the ground.I went down with a brute force but I didn’t feel my body meeting the hard surface.I was totally blinded by the temptation. It was surreal. It was unbelievable to go through what was going on right now but it was happening.Considering the way my wolf got so enticed to the point where she completely surrendered herself to Alpha Dalton, was frightening.Yet, I was strangely tempted by Alpha Dalton. I unreservedly bared myself to him. Both my wolf and I was entirely powerless in front of this invisible mystic dark energy that had us wrapped in an uncanny bubble. It felt like we were one with it and no longer one with the real world.I glanced at Alpha Dalton when he paused and shifted back into his human form. He just stared right into my eyes with his arms holding himself up beside my body. His chest was millimeters away from touching mine.I tried to breathe evenly to prevent my breasts from touching his bare chest but alas!If anything, my labored breath got worse with the way my heart was frantically pounding.I bet Alpha Dalton could hear and even feel it.A flicker of struggling flashed through his eyes.In spite of trying to restrain myself, I took the initiative to hold his neck.Alpha Dalton leaned closer to my neck. When his lips faintly brushed against my left ear, I closed my eyes with a sigh of relief. He took a deep breath of my scent and suddenly lost control. He molded my lips with his and kissed me fiercely. My arms around the back of his neck tightened as he firmly yet smoothly and gently wrapped his arms around my waist, holding me impossibly closer to him.I felt myself getting so lost in this passion that I couldn’t think about anything else but him. His lips, his scent, his touch, his firm hands and soft skin!Just when he trailed several tiny kisses down the side of my neck, he shoved me aside.I cried out in pain when my head knocked against the ground.I got up bewildered and neared him, “What… what just happened?”I flinched back in shock and fear when he snapped at me, “Stay away from me!”“But -” I started but froze when he turned around, facing me.“What part of stay away from me don’t you understand? Get lost!” He growled out.A darkness filled his eyes, and a heaviness pulled at his mouth.Cassandra’s point of view:I unknowingly stepped back seeing the thunderous look that crossed his face. I took a deep breath before saying, “Your wish is my command.” The darkness in his eyes faded as the look on his face softened. For a split second, he appeared troubled and really puzzled before he clenched his jaw and casted his eyes elsewhere. If I wasn’t already looking at him, I would have missed it. I didn’t leave though. I wore my clothes and wandered back to the stream but further away from where he had been standing. I made sure to maintain a fair distance between us. I glanced back over my shoulders to find him walking back to the stream, his face ice cold again. I halted in my steps when he spoke, “You are Marcus's mate -" he paused before adding in a restrained tone of voice. "- and it should stay that way.”He was aware that I could hear him from here. With a gulp, I simply hummed in response, fearing that my voice would break if I said anything. At this point, I w
Cassandra’s point of view: ‘This wasn’t the time to think about that. You need to hide!’ My wolf warned me. ‘But I should take a chance to run away while I still can, right?’ I questioned Sierra. ‘You will be dead before you can even run away! You don’t know how to fight.’ Sierra chided me. She was right! Why would I even think about running away amidst an attack when I couldn’t even fight? That would be a death wish. I shivered in fright as I glanced in every direction, checking my surroundings. So far, there were only the pack members running around but the pack attacking us was rapidly charging inside the pack. The adrenaline coursing through my veins earlier was so powerful that the only thought that kept running through my mind was that I needed to get as far away from Marcus as I could. Now that I understood the density of the situation, I was terrified. ‘Hide! They are coming!’ Sierra alerted me. Not even a second later, I heard their advancing steps getting nearer, so
Cassandra’s point of view: The stench of blood evaded my senses. My stomach twisted at the metallic smell that completely engulfed me. I was rooted on the spot. Time seemed to have slowed down. The acid and metallic smell of it made me gag but there was no time to ponder over that feeling when the enemy pack was evading the pack. Yet, I was unable to move. I couldn’t hear and see what was going on around me. Every howl, growl, slashing sound and brawl faded into nothingness. My eyes were stuck on the stranger lying cold dead on the ground. I watched as his skin grew tight and ashen in color. “What are you doing? Let’s go,” Alpha Dalton’s voice pulled me out of my trance. “W-What?” I looked up at him, dumbfounded. “What, what?” He held my hand and pulled me along as he began running to the back of the pack house. “Where are we going?” I asked him as I ran along. “Not we, you are,” His response made me frown in confusion. “What do you mean?” I forced him to stop in his tracks
Cassandra’s point of view: We all held our breaths and waited as the noise got nearer and fiercer… until – - Until something or someone crashed straight into the wall. The little girl, holding onto my legs, jumped back with a bloodcurdling scream. I hastily picked her up and hid her face into the side of my neck. “Shush, don’t look!” I gently patted her back when she gripped my shirt with her hands fisted tightly. Instead of stepping back, I walked towards the wolf that had burst a hole through the wall. It was Marcus. He was badly hurt. I sat down on my knees to assess his injuries. There was a huge gash to the side of his neck. Blood was rapidly pouring out of it. “It’s okay, sweetie.” I set the little girl down on the floor beside me. “This wolf is one of us.” I told her before leaning forward to press a hand against Marcus’s wound. His condition was critical. The person who attacked him, aimed straight for his carotid artery, leaving him to gasp for breath and to plead for
Cassandra’s point of view: ‘You’ve got the power to protect them.’ The voice whispered. It had a controlling tone. I found myself get entirely hypnotized by it within seconds. Instead of fighting the voice, I got completely wrapped under its controlling power. I turned my head sideways and strained my ear when I heard the little girl shouting at me. “No, come back!” Yet, I didn’t move. I stayed still and waited for the advancing wolf. I clenched my hands by my sides until my fingernails dug into my flesh. A growing restlessness brewed within me. I needed to get rid of the excess energy that was suddenly growing inside my body. The restlessness was untamed and unpredictable. It came in spurts, hitting me at random and as such, I was forced to move along. The need to fight was acute. For some unknown reasons, I was unable to speak to my wolf. Sierra was there, stirring anxiously. Still, I couldn’t feel her but I was using her heightened senses. That was weird. If I was to descr
Cassandra’s point of view: When his dark grey fur had clashed with my vision, it was a stunning sight to behold for how quiet and fast he was – how smooth, too. The rogue got infuriated seeing Alpha Dalton. He dug his claws into the ground before leaping at Alpha Dalton, his claws held above, ready to be plunged into Alpha Dalton’s flesh. Dashing across the hallway, Alpha Dalton buried his fangs into the side of the rogue’s neck and ripped his neck apart. His head rolled off his shoulders and knocked against the wall with such brutal force that it sent blood splashing on the ground and on the roof. The rogue’s body fell limply by the side. A brooding silence overtook the air as everyone stood still, mouth agape with surprise. I looked over my shoulders when I sensed their fear. Turning around, I searched through the crowd for the little girl. Her lips trembled in fright when my eyes met hers. It pained me to see the frightened look on her face. Pressing my lips in a thin line,
Cassandra’s point of view: I woke up with a jolt, scanning the dark room with my keen senses, taking in the sounds of critters that slithered out at this time of the night. With trembling hands, I reached for the lamp beside my bed and turned it on. I wasn’t blinded by the darkness in the room. I could see pretty well at night. I sighed in relief when the light turned on. I glanced around my lit up bedroom, checking for any kind of shadows lurking from behind the curtains and furniture. The light provided me with a sense of protection, reassurance even from what I had just dreamt about. Unlike the recurring nightmares that I have had for the past few weeks because of Marcus, this time around, it wasn’t the same nightmare that haunted me in my sleep. It was about the attack, the same attack in which I had killed those rogues. I stared down at my shaky hands. For a split second, I almost screamed in fright when I noticed my fingers stained with blood until I realized that it wa
Cassandra’s point of view: Unlike the day of the attack, the pack hospital wasn’t packed with everyone running around treating the pack warriors and scouts who were injured, and trying to save the ones who were fighting for their life. There wasn’t much movement around. I walked further inside the hospital. The pack’s doctor and nurses were checking on the patients. There were some pack members standing around. They were here to visit their loved ones. They stared at me for a good amount of time before whispering among themselves when they noticed my presence. To say the least, it was awkward. That was one of the reasons why I had been staying in my bedroom and avoiding from coming down here. Gossips travelled fast in the Crescent Moon pack. Everyone learnt about the way I had slaughtered those rogues the morning after the attack. It was a cold-blooded bloodbath. I was afraid that they might think of me as an abomination. After what happened, I might think so myself. A voice sho
Cassandra’s point of view: Dalton saw red and impulsively dashed across to punch Levi in the face but Levi raised his hand and with one flick of his finger, Dalton was sent soaring back in the air.He landed flat on his back, his head brutally hitting the ground, knocking him out cold. A pool of blood soon formed around his upper body.Levi must have used an incantation on Dalton.Seeing this, I felt a burst of negative energy but instead of acting on my own; I clenched my hands and gritted my teeth together to hold still.Dalton would be alright. I could still feel our mate bond. But, the mere thought that he was left stranded over there on the ground, took everything in me not to run to his help.Hecate and Levi’s eyes were fixed on me. I knew better than to let myself get distracted by them at this point. They played with us for ten years but I won’t let them play with us anymore. They might find it amusing to see true mates being apart but I’d show them what an enraged mate could
Cassandra’s point of view: “I don’t like this… the moment Alpha Dalton told me that we’d be following this witch’s directions; I wasn’t ready at all but…” Alpha Maddox complained. “I don’t like it one bit.”“Neither do I, Alpha Maddox.” Alpha Eric whispered, agreeing with the old man. “But what are we supposed to do? She may not be one of our kind, but she has always helped Alpha Blaze.”Shoving his hands into his pockets, Alpha Eric added with a resolute shrug, “As long as she doesn’t betray us, I guess we’d be alright.”Everyone could hear them talking… even Patricia but she didn’t seem like she gave a fuck about their opinions.I pursed my lips at the two Alphas and looked at Dalton. ‘Don’t you think we made a mistake asking Alpha Maddox to come along with us?’‘He can be a bit orthodox but –’‘A bit…?’ I arched an eyebrow at my mate.‘Okay, I’ll be honest… he’s the most orthodox Alpha I’ve ever known but he’s also one of the most experienced one among us. And I had to inform him
Cassandra’s point of view: Around us, the darkness was absolute, the silence oppressive. We could see perfectly well but Dalton, Alpha Blaze and the pack warriors couldn’t see us anymore. We made them hide in certain spots where they wouldn’t be seen from here.Together with Lucas, I stepped inside the tunnel leading towards the Moon Howlers’ secret hide-out. Observing our surroundings well before invading their spot, we had each others’ backs.Nothing could be heard from this far but the moment we reached mid-way inside the tunnel; we started hearing hush voices except it wasn’t whispering anymore when we focused on those voices using our primordials’ powers.Lucas held my wrist to stop me and then, pulled me to the side. We stood with our backs to the ceramic tiled wall as we listened in to the conversation. It was Levi… he was speaking to someone.“Everything is going as planned. We need one more week before we’d be ready to take over the werewolf race.” Levi explained to someone.
Cassandra’s point of view: Lucas tackled me to the ground. Breathing hard, I closed my eyes and took a moment to calm my pounding heart.“Come on, get up! We won’t stop until you get this right.” Lucas shouted.I groaned miserably as I forced my body to move. We’ve been practicing for hours… getting trained and getting accustomed with my primordial powers. With the help of Lucas, I’ve been able to get my wolves to work together – well to a certain extent. But, I was determined to make myself well-matched with Lucas in terms of his primordial powers. We needed to get this done, together, for the unprecedented battle awaiting us.Warlocks were known to be one of the most powerful beings to have ever existed on earth. They were stronger, fiercer and vile than witches.Among the werewolf kind, the primordials and the Lycans were at par but relatively, primordials were more dominate and tougher.Distracted, I glanced up when I caught a whiff of Dalton’s enticing scent. I looked in that sp
Cassandra’s point of view: “Cassandra, I love you.” He confessed, his voice sounded steady, assured. He meant it. Surprised, I looked at him. His eyes tried to smile, but his lips remained fixed in a stark, upside down frown as though he feared my reaction to his sudden confession. I didn’t need to hear it. I could feel his heart pounding in his chest. He was nervous. The anger I’d felt vanished into thin air, replaced with a whole lot of emotions… feelings… All that crap, which didn’t seem so much like crap right now when his was the heart that was twisting and aching and mine were the anger evaporating into unshed tears. When I smiled at him through my tears, I felt a rush of relief go through him before he returned the gesture. He closed the short distance between us and slid his arm over my shoulders, pulling me into his arms. I leaned into his embrace with a blissful sigh. I regretted wearing my clothes. I would do anything to strip my body as bare as his. But I could st
Dalton’s point of view: I woke up at nine feeling a lot better than I’d felt last night. It had taken me a second to remember everything that had happened, but hearing Cassandra’s contented sigh, and feeling her long, slim leg slide between mine as she draped herself over me in her sleep, everything had come flooding back into my mind. My lips tugged up into a smile, happy that I’d spent last night with her… I believed we both needed to be together, needed to feel one another’s warmth, scent and comforting presence after that whole ordeal with her parents and Alpha Julian. Looking down at her, my heart skipped a beat. Damn. I was so whipped for her... I never thought I’d ever find her, my destined mate, before but now that I’d found her, I’d do anything for her. Anything! I slowly and gently tucked a strand of her hair that had covered part of her left cheek behind her left ear. Smiling as I gazed down at her beautiful face, I softly rubbed her cheek with my thumb. She leaned m
Cassandra’s point of view: My finger was wet with his body’s essence, and I lifted it to my mouth, tasting the salty flavor of him while staring right into his eyes confidently. Dalton reached down and tangled his hand in my hair, never taking his eyes off me. Hungry for more, I began to pull his shorts down, carefully, deliberately slow, lifting them over that throbbing ridge of flesh. I let my hand brush against his cock, watching his rippling stomach muscles flex in reaction. Holding my breath, I drew the shorts all the way down, revealing inch after glorious inch of him. “Fuck,” I couldn’t help cussing in a whisper, needing to take a moment to stare at the male beauty before me. I inhaled, but my breath didn’t seem to reach my lungs; I felt dizzy, light-headed. So weak with desire I had the urge to climb up and impale myself on him now, right now, without any further delays. But, I also wanted to taste him. To pleasure him the way he’d pleasured me. So I leaned closer, close
Cassandra’s point of view: Looking down at Dalton, stunned, as always by his sexy masculinity, his alluring presence and his enticing scent, I paused to acknowledge that I’d reached one of those important moments in my life where I’d had to make a decision which would change the course of my life, either in a good way or in a bad way.No matter whatever else happened in the future though, I had no doubt – none, zero – that this decision would live on in my memories forever and definitely as a sweet good memory. Swiftly yet smoothly picking me up in his arms, Dalton dashed back inside the pack house, across hallways and several rooms before we’d reached his bedroom within seconds.Shortly after, we were in his bed.He had me straddling him while he laid there, watching me. His seductive eyes filled with desire, bore into mine.“Come here,” he ordered, reaching up and sinking his hands in my hair.I let him pull me down, needing to taste him.Our lips met, softly, more tenderly than w
Dalton’s point of view: I tossed and turned in my bed, my sleep repeatedly interrupted by thoughts regarding Cassandra, her parents and Alpha Julian. Why did they have to come get her? I sat up with a tired sigh. I might as well get up if I wasn’t going to get any sleep. It wasn’t even night time anymore. It was like four in the morning already. I couldn’t believe that I hadn’t slept at all. That was a first. Deciding to go for a walk around the pack house to calm down, I got out of bed and left my bedroom. I hadn’t realized when I’d descended the stairs to the floor below mine but I soon found myself walking down the hallway about to cross Cassandra’s bedroom. Was she asleep? It was pretty early for her to be up and around but knowing her… I fisted my right hand, readying myself to knock on her bedroom door to check on her but then, I shook my head and stepped back. Sighing, I chose to go to the courtyard. I needed to get those unwanted wandering thoughts out of my mind. There
