Chapter 42 - Who really were the Moon Howlers?

Dalton’s point of view:

Cassandra lay in my arms on her bed and I couldn’t help but turn and kiss the top of her head. To have her here with me… safe, no longer on the pack grounds with that creature running loose, but here, and secure, no longer in danger… she had no idea how that made me feel.

She’s back where she’s always belonged and where she’d always belong. In my arms!

I’d watched the warriors take me away and had searched for Cassandra through the people leaning above me while they laid me down on that hospital bed. I’d peered over the heads of the people, waiting for Cassandra, waiting to see her pushing her way through, looking for me.

But she hadn’t, and I’d begun to fear the worst. Had something happened? Why would she stay behind to face that creature?

I know she might be able to control that thing much more than me but the mere thought of her facing that creature alone chilled me to the core. It even made my wolf restless.

Once the nurses and the pack doctor had fu

Dalton’s point of view: We’d spent the last fifteen minutes or so laying in her bed while she explained everything that the creature had told her. “So, you’ve got that creepy thing locked in the dungeons?” My eyes went wide in surprise. “How did you even get that creature down there? Did no one see it?” She threw me a pointed look. “He’s a human, not a thing.” I gulped and then, nodded. “You’re right.” “Well, it seemed like he knew a lot about the experiments the Moon Howlers were doing on some humans they’ve captured and imprisoned.” She stated. “You might want to investigate him, that’s why I got him locked down there.” “That was a wise thing to do.” I gave her back a gentle rub. “What do you think you’re doing?” She narrowed her eyes down at me. “W-What?” I cleared my throat to hide that I’d actually stuttered. But from the looks of it, she caught onto it. Dang it! “Are you really patting me like a dog right now?” She asked with a faint growl. Her eyes flashed blue, alert

Cassandra’s point of view: I stared down at our hands when he interlaced our fingers. Heat flooded my cheeks. His hold on my hand tightened with reassurance as he opened my bedroom door wider. He seemed confident and sure of himself as though he knew exactly what he was doing. It wasn’t his wolf or that dark energy controlling him. It was just him. I was so stupid for being mad at him because of Ashley. That bitch touched him. He never wounded her arm around his. ‘But, he didn’t push her away as well.’ My wolf reminded me. ‘I think he didn’t want to be rude to her.’ I said. ‘I don’t think so -” “Shush! Stop it!’ I scolded my wolf, not wanting to ruin my good mood. Dalton pulled me along with him as we walked outside and down the hallway. There was no one around. They must be waiting for Dalton down in the living room area. When we reached downstairs, Jasmine was the first one to see us first as we turned the end corner leading towards the living room area. Dalton let go of

  • Alpha Dalton   Chapter 45 - "Marcus is no more.”

Cassandra’s point of view: I spun on my heels and stood right in front of Dalton, blocking the zombie's sight of Dalton as he whizzed past the warriors, heading straight for Dalton's... blood. "No, you don't -" I was taken aback when he pushed me away, sending me crashing into Dalton. Dalton quickly grabbed onto my arms and growled angrily at the zombie, warning him. The zombie was so out of it that he didn't catch onto the warning. He was more focused on sniffing the air around us... more particularly around Dalton. The stench of blood was strong on him... too strong. It was strong enough to make the zombie smirk in triumph as though he'd found his afternoon snack. Well, he did in fact found his afternoon snack. Why the heck would Dalton just come down here in his bloodied shirt? 'Maybe he wanted to be devoured by this thing!' Sierra chimed. 'Now is not the time, Sierra! I've got a zombie to handle.' I deadpanned. 'Well, what are you waiting for? Do it!' My wolf ordained. I

  • Alpha Dalton   Chapter 46 - Marcus ran away.

Cassandra’s point of view: A brooding silence fell over the pack, everyone unmistakably having heard the sad news as well. No matter how bad Marcus was, he was still their Beta and a pack without a Beta by their Alpha’s side was like a pack without their Luna by their Alpha’s side. Betas were usually the right hand men of Alphas. They were usually someone an Alpha could trust with their life. But, Marcus has been anything but trustworthy. From what I’ve seen, Marcus was jealous of Dalton for being the Alpha of the Crescent Moon pack. They had always been at each others’ throats. Until Dalton doesn’t find a new Beta for them, this void would be felt through the entire pack. Just like the void of a Luna to lead the pack by their Alpha’s side. That would only be filled when Dalton gets the right woman to lead the pack alongside him. As for me… well, I couldn’t really tell how I felt hearing this news. He’d been lying in a coma, unresponsive for like more than a month now and honestl

  • Alpha Dalton   Chapter 47 - 'There's a traitor among us.'

Cassandra’s point of view: Sarah, having caught onto this small action of mine, frowned in confusion, her eyes shifting from me to Dalton before landing back on me. Her forehead creased with lines as though she was suddenly thinking about something that greatly disturbed her. Whatever thoughts that crossed her mind then, made her uncomfortable enough that she shyly averted her eyes elsewhere, avoiding my eyes. It was my turn to frown. The concern she felt for her Alpha filled the air around us. Sensing her emotion, Dalton backed away from her. ‘What’s wrong with her? Why is she behaving like that all of a sudden?’ I asked Dalton using the mind-link between us. Dalton threw me a glance before looking back at the nurse who seemed like she’d rather be somewhere else than here. It almost felt as if she was more petrified now… of knowing something she shouldn’t. This pushed me to think about the concern she had felt just seconds earlier. Was she concerned for Dalton or for herself?

  • Alpha Dalton   Chapter 48 - 'I'm going to the dark forest.'

Cassandra’s point of view: ‘Dalton, we need to talk.’ That was enough to get Dalton’s attention. In no time, he was heading my way. ‘What’s wrong? Did you find something?’ Dalton asked.‘Check this out. Don’t you smell anything weird around this bottle?’ ‘This antiseptic bottle -’ ‘Yes.’ I interrupted him, my patience running low. He couldn’t have missed this. Maybe he hadn’t checked it yet. After surveying the bottle and sniffing the air around it, his head jerked up slightly and his mouth tightened. ‘There’s another scent other than Marcus’s and the antiseptic.’ Meeting his gaze once he glanced up, I nodded. ‘Someone helped him escape.’ ‘But who is foolish enough to dare deceive us?’ ‘Do you have someone in mind?’ ‘None that I know of who is capable of doing something like this.’ ‘That scent is weird. It is indeed a scent belonging to one of the pack members but that person might have been taking wolfsbane to hide his scent.’ I pointed out. Dalton seemed shocked for a spl

  • Alpha Dalton   Chapter 49 - Like a predator, was I the prey?

Cassandra’s point of view: When we reached the pack house, it was awfully quiet. Everyone had been already warned to stay inside in case Marcus was up to something. When it came to Marcus, Dalton didn’t want to take any chance. He didn’t trust that guy at all. Someone who could betray his own Alpha could pretty much harm his own pack members. The attack last time showed the level at which Marcus could degrade to just to harm the ones who wouldn’t let him have his way. “Get inside, Cassandra. If you need anything, I’ll be right here.” Jeremy told me as he waited for me to get inside the pack house before closing the front door behind me. I peeked outside through the side window to find him standing right by the front door, guarding the pack house. How will I go out if he’s standing there? He’d definitely tell Dalton if he catches me outside. I would have to think about another way to go out. Several kinds of ideas began crossing my mind as I returned to my bedroom. When I opene

  • Alpha Dalton   Chapter 50 - A kind rogue?

Cassandra’s point of view: A growl vibrated from my throat before I could stop it, my wolf reacting to the presence of a rogue by immediately getting into a defensive stance. The rogue crouched down a bit as though preparing to lunge itself at me. I recognized the threat but refused to step back, growling even louder. At this point, I didn’t care if Dalton heard my growl from up ahead. A rumble coasted from the rogue’s chest, body turning rigid at the threat I posed. My gaze narrowing as the rogue stared back at me. Any levelheaded werewolf would have retreated back, recognizing he had no chance of fighting here and should find ways to get himself out of the situation. But I wasn’t any kind of levelheaded werewolf. I lifted my chin, kept staring into those green piercing eyes of his and held my ground. It was exactly the picture of someone who stubbornly refused to retreat. I bared my teeth at it. So did the rogue, teeth sharper and longer. Its claws were next, black and curve

Cassandra’s point of view: Dalton saw red and impulsively dashed across to punch Levi in the face but Levi raised his hand and with one flick of his finger, Dalton was sent soaring back in the air.He landed flat on his back, his head brutally hitting the ground, knocking him out cold. A pool of blood soon formed around his upper body.Levi must have used an incantation on Dalton.Seeing this, I felt a burst of negative energy but instead of acting on my own; I clenched my hands and gritted my teeth together to hold still.Dalton would be alright. I could still feel our mate bond. But, the mere thought that he was left stranded over there on the ground, took everything in me not to run to his help.Hecate and Levi’s eyes were fixed on me. I knew better than to let myself get distracted by them at this point. They played with us for ten years but I won’t let them play with us anymore. They might find it amusing to see true mates being apart but I’d show them what an enraged mate could

Cassandra’s point of view: “I don’t like this… the moment Alpha Dalton told me that we’d be following this witch’s directions; I wasn’t ready at all but…” Alpha Maddox complained. “I don’t like it one bit.”“Neither do I, Alpha Maddox.” Alpha Eric whispered, agreeing with the old man. “But what are we supposed to do? She may not be one of our kind, but she has always helped Alpha Blaze.”Shoving his hands into his pockets, Alpha Eric added with a resolute shrug, “As long as she doesn’t betray us, I guess we’d be alright.”Everyone could hear them talking… even Patricia but she didn’t seem like she gave a fuck about their opinions.I pursed my lips at the two Alphas and looked at Dalton. ‘Don’t you think we made a mistake asking Alpha Maddox to come along with us?’‘He can be a bit orthodox but –’‘A bit…?’ I arched an eyebrow at my mate.‘Okay, I’ll be honest… he’s the most orthodox Alpha I’ve ever known but he’s also one of the most experienced one among us. And I had to inform him

  • Alpha Dalton   Chapter 93 - Invading the Moon Howlers' secret hide-out!

Cassandra’s point of view: Around us, the darkness was absolute, the silence oppressive. We could see perfectly well but Dalton, Alpha Blaze and the pack warriors couldn’t see us anymore. We made them hide in certain spots where they wouldn’t be seen from here.Together with Lucas, I stepped inside the tunnel leading towards the Moon Howlers’ secret hide-out. Observing our surroundings well before invading their spot, we had each others’ backs.Nothing could be heard from this far but the moment we reached mid-way inside the tunnel; we started hearing hush voices except it wasn’t whispering anymore when we focused on those voices using our primordials’ powers.Lucas held my wrist to stop me and then, pulled me to the side. We stood with our backs to the ceramic tiled wall as we listened in to the conversation. It was Levi… he was speaking to someone.“Everything is going as planned. We need one more week before we’d be ready to take over the werewolf race.” Levi explained to someone.

Cassandra’s point of view: Lucas tackled me to the ground. Breathing hard, I closed my eyes and took a moment to calm my pounding heart.“Come on, get up! We won’t stop until you get this right.” Lucas shouted.I groaned miserably as I forced my body to move. We’ve been practicing for hours… getting trained and getting accustomed with my primordial powers. With the help of Lucas, I’ve been able to get my wolves to work together – well to a certain extent. But, I was determined to make myself well-matched with Lucas in terms of his primordial powers. We needed to get this done, together, for the unprecedented battle awaiting us.Warlocks were known to be one of the most powerful beings to have ever existed on earth. They were stronger, fiercer and vile than witches.Among the werewolf kind, the primordials and the Lycans were at par but relatively, primordials were more dominate and tougher.Distracted, I glanced up when I caught a whiff of Dalton’s enticing scent. I looked in that sp

  • Alpha Dalton   Chapter 91 - Luna Cassandra of the Crescent Moon pack

Cassandra’s point of view: “Cassandra, I love you.” He confessed, his voice sounded steady, assured. He meant it. Surprised, I looked at him. His eyes tried to smile, but his lips remained fixed in a stark, upside down frown as though he feared my reaction to his sudden confession. I didn’t need to hear it. I could feel his heart pounding in his chest. He was nervous. The anger I’d felt vanished into thin air, replaced with a whole lot of emotions… feelings… All that crap, which didn’t seem so much like crap right now when his was the heart that was twisting and aching and mine were the anger evaporating into unshed tears. When I smiled at him through my tears, I felt a rush of relief go through him before he returned the gesture. He closed the short distance between us and slid his arm over my shoulders, pulling me into his arms. I leaned into his embrace with a blissful sigh. I regretted wearing my clothes. I would do anything to strip my body as bare as his. But I could st

  • Alpha Dalton   Chapter 90 - "You marked me!"

Dalton’s point of view: I woke up at nine feeling a lot better than I’d felt last night. It had taken me a second to remember everything that had happened, but hearing Cassandra’s contented sigh, and feeling her long, slim leg slide between mine as she draped herself over me in her sleep, everything had come flooding back into my mind. My lips tugged up into a smile, happy that I’d spent last night with her… I believed we both needed to be together, needed to feel one another’s warmth, scent and comforting presence after that whole ordeal with her parents and Alpha Julian. Looking down at her, my heart skipped a beat. Damn. I was so whipped for her... I never thought I’d ever find her, my destined mate, before but now that I’d found her, I’d do anything for her. Anything! I slowly and gently tucked a strand of her hair that had covered part of her left cheek behind her left ear. Smiling as I gazed down at her beautiful face, I softly rubbed her cheek with my thumb. She leaned m

  • Alpha Dalton   Chapter 89 - It was sheer perfection.

Cassandra’s point of view: My finger was wet with his body’s essence, and I lifted it to my mouth, tasting the salty flavor of him while staring right into his eyes confidently. Dalton reached down and tangled his hand in my hair, never taking his eyes off me. Hungry for more, I began to pull his shorts down, carefully, deliberately slow, lifting them over that throbbing ridge of flesh. I let my hand brush against his cock, watching his rippling stomach muscles flex in reaction. Holding my breath, I drew the shorts all the way down, revealing inch after glorious inch of him. “Fuck,” I couldn’t help cussing in a whisper, needing to take a moment to stare at the male beauty before me. I inhaled, but my breath didn’t seem to reach my lungs; I felt dizzy, light-headed. So weak with desire I had the urge to climb up and impale myself on him now, right now, without any further delays. But, I also wanted to taste him. To pleasure him the way he’d pleasured me. So I leaned closer, close

  • Alpha Dalton   Chapter 88 - "Shush... It's my turn."

Cassandra’s point of view: Looking down at Dalton, stunned, as always by his sexy masculinity, his alluring presence and his enticing scent, I paused to acknowledge that I’d reached one of those important moments in my life where I’d had to make a decision which would change the course of my life, either in a good way or in a bad way.No matter whatever else happened in the future though, I had no doubt – none, zero – that this decision would live on in my memories forever and definitely as a sweet good memory. Swiftly yet smoothly picking me up in his arms, Dalton dashed back inside the pack house, across hallways and several rooms before we’d reached his bedroom within seconds.Shortly after, we were in his bed.He had me straddling him while he laid there, watching me. His seductive eyes filled with desire, bore into mine.“Come here,” he ordered, reaching up and sinking his hands in my hair.I let him pull me down, needing to taste him.Our lips met, softly, more tenderly than w

  • Alpha Dalton   Chapter 87 - I wanted that nightgown off her...

Dalton’s point of view: I tossed and turned in my bed, my sleep repeatedly interrupted by thoughts regarding Cassandra, her parents and Alpha Julian. Why did they have to come get her? I sat up with a tired sigh. I might as well get up if I wasn’t going to get any sleep. It wasn’t even night time anymore. It was like four in the morning already. I couldn’t believe that I hadn’t slept at all. That was a first. Deciding to go for a walk around the pack house to calm down, I got out of bed and left my bedroom. I hadn’t realized when I’d descended the stairs to the floor below mine but I soon found myself walking down the hallway about to cross Cassandra’s bedroom. Was she asleep? It was pretty early for her to be up and around but knowing her… I fisted my right hand, readying myself to knock on her bedroom door to check on her but then, I shook my head and stepped back. Sighing, I chose to go to the courtyard. I needed to get those unwanted wandering thoughts out of my mind. There
