‘Knock, knock’ The monster from her childhood was knocking on the door.
Thalia shut her eyes and covered her ears she couldn't hear it. If she doesn’t look then he won't be there -maybe it was all just a bad dream. This was all in her head the monster won't be here he wouldn't come here anymore. The knocking stopped and Thalia opened her eyes. Yes it was a dream. No one was there.Bang! The door burst open. Hanging by its hinges the monster stood right in front of her. It's hopeless, now the monster would come into her mother's eyes.He was finally here to get them blood roared in her ears and her heartbeat caught an irregular, wild rhythm...Those sick moans she will have to listen to them again. Those painful whimpers she didn't want to listen to - let go!The monster has to die. Let go the monster need to be chased away or else her mother would lose it all. She doesn't want her moThalia didnt say anything for a long time she simply let Carter rock her back and forth in his lap, for a while neither of them said anything. Before Carter lifted her chin with one of his hands. “What’s wrong still not feeling good?”Some unshed tears rimmed in Thalia’s eyes as she shook her head. “It's not that, it's just….”“It's just what?” Asked Carter his gaze never once stopped searching hers. It was like he was still searching for something or more like someone. It didn’t sit well with her. She had probably done something that Carter wasn’t telling her about but her head was hurting while her marks were hurting like someone had run their nails through them. Thalia couldn’t wrap her mind around what she wanted to ask first. She hesitated before settling on the most important one. “Did I hurt Scarlet? Is she alright? Am I…Am I in troub
Thalia wanted to ask what he meant by that but then Carter continued as he spoke while rubbing her back in circular motion. “Take Caroline for example, on the surface she is a fantastic mother but underneath she is downright paranoid. She doesn’t handle changes well and it's in her nature to reject strangers. She also has a big problem trusting seers, which is something not very common.“Seers were rare especially those that had the powers to heal someone. Mostly the packs would rather go to war to keep them safe. Hence the seers were particularly treated with a rather great importance. “She isn’t in the wrong either her paranoia results from the insecurities that my father never worked hard enough to resolve.” “Your father?” “Yes, my father. He was the beta of his pack and took his job more seriously than he took his mate or his family. My mother on the other hand would tell you that he w
The man beside Caroline spoke” hello there, I am Brandon. Caroline is my sister and this is my son Frank.” patting on the shoulder of the burly youngster who was sitting next to him, Brandon continued” I just heard a lot of things from Caroline about you and I do have to say that you are nothing like as she told me.“Caroline whipped her head so fast to look at Brandon that Thalia was afraid that the poor woman was going to snap her neck with that amount of force she was applying on her old bones” are you serious Brandon? I just told you how much of a danger she is to our pack yet here you are, Don't tell me that she has you charmed too with that hocus Pocus of her.”Brandon guffawed, his booming laughter resonating in the kitchen as he choked on his coffee, splattering it all over the dining table. Frank who was sitting beside shot his father one of his disgruntled expressions before taking out a bunch of tissue from the tis
“ You see that? That's what he has become!” Before Thalia could answer Carter’s question, Caroline spat as she turned to Brandon, to which the latter only rolled his eyes, for whatever reason Caroline thought that Brandon's world stands by her side, then without waiting for Brandon to respond to her, Caroline rounded at Carter with an imperious air “ Your uncle is sitting right here but instead of greeting him, you just ignored him for that girl” Caroline was adamant on not using Thalia’s name as if by not using her name would help her in erasing some of Thalia’s presence in the pack.Taking some of the toast from the stack on the counter, Carter answered patiently munching his toast without looking the slightest bit angry “ I have seen him and I have already greeted him as you can see, I hardly think that Brandon would want me to come there and hug him as a greeting but if that's what you want-“ Carter placed hi
Thalia rubbed her arms she was standing in the middle of a living room. It was cold and dark. She looked around but the room was silent except the occasional whimpers. She turned around and sitting in the corner on a worn-down armchair was a girl wearing a pure white dress. Her hair scattered in a mess, holding a brand new teddy bear in her hand. She was snivelling and wiping her tears-A door creaked behind and then there was a deathly silence in the room. An abrupt chill spread all over her extremities as the girl’s head jerked up.The movement was full of fear and her stormy blue eyes were filled with terror that set Thalia’s nerves on edge. The hair was parted in between the face….it was her face
Thalia stayed inside the washroom for quite a long period of time. It took her more than just a few minutes to calm herself down. When she stepped out of the washroom she turned to return to the workroom when the blonde receptionist sitting on the front counter raised her hand and called her from behind. “Hey Thalia, someone came to meet you.”Thalia frowned as she turned around and walked towards the reception area she raised a brow questioningly at the receptionist. Who shrugged and casually pointed to the parking lot. “I asked him to wait for you in the lounge but he insisted on standing there. You can go and have a look by yourself.”Thalia wasn’t in the mood to look at anyone much less have a meeting that wasn’t supposed to happen at all.
“Keep it from Carter? “ Thalia repeated shooting him a dismayed look. She didn’t know why but the idea didn’t sit right with her. She looked their back and forth, everything in her life had been so serious before Carter and then he swept right in like a raging storm- swift, determined, and out of control. She didn’t like the idea of keeping something so important from him. It was like a small betrayal. Not to just her mate but also her Alpha.“Yeah.” Brandon took a deep breath as he put down his coffee mug. “Carter wouldn’t like me telling those things that he is bent on keeping from you. He is a stubborn little brat if he found out that I was the one who told you about your past then he will see it as treason. Carter doesn’t really react well with even the smallest act of betrayal. He is tough like that.”“Then why are you telling me? You can just keep it from me li
“I am afraid I don’t understand what you mean.“ said Thalia blinking in confusion. Though it seemed like what Brandon was telling her was simple but something told her that it was far worse than just making a choice. She looked at him hoping for him to explain what he meant by telling her this but she might as well have been waiting for a miracle to happen. Brandon didn’t clarify what he meant instead he wiped his mouth with a paper napkin before throwing it skillfully in the dustbin. “Like I said I cannot tell you everything right now but soon you will find out about that and when you do. I hope you will make the correct choice.”“A correct choice?”His jaw hardened as he nodded. “Yeah -the correct choice. I will not ask for anything more but I do hope that when the time comes you will be able to see past all the prejudices just like Carter.”Thalia looked at Brandon
