Blake P.O.V.
So far this day has been boring out of my mind. We have had endless meetings with other packs concerning the growing numbers of rogue activity, but no one can come up with a solution to get rid of them for good. I have nothing against rogues per se, but I do when they attack and steal from packs. It’s been a growing problem since before I became Alpha 8 years ago, and seeing as I am Alpha of the largest and strongest pack in the region, the Council counts on me to be a leader in all of this.
“Alpha Blake, are you with us still?” Head Councilman Eddar asks into the camera. We’re doing this on a zoom meeting, just because of the nightmare of assembling all the Alpha’s in my region, let alone the whole damn country.
“Yes, sorry. I was contemplating how we may proceed to prevent these unprovoked attacks. Because I assume they are unprovoked?!” I answer, looking at the little pictures of my fellow Alpha’s. Especially some of those in the East region who have been complaining, but as their complaints are led by Alpha Bane, I do not think they are actually valid. He keeps saying how rogues plunder his borders, but I know for a fact the man is a sadistic asshole, who takes pleasure in killing and fighting. Some even say he beats his own Luna and wife.
“Of course they are unprovoked. We have laws protecting those who choose to live outside packs, and they are to be left alone unless they break our laws, then it’s the reigning Alpha of the offended packs duty to see justice served. With the help of the council naturally.” I just raise an eyebrow. They way Councilman Stephen says this makes me think there is more to this than meets the eye. That and the uncomfortable way Alpha Bane looks on his spot on my screen.
“Uh huh. Well, I will need all the reports from the last two years of attacks if you want me to send any of my men to your region, Councilman Stephen. I mean no disrespect of course, but I am not sending my pack members into harm's way if I can avoid it somehow. Besides, the men could come here and get the training Alpha Bane is asking for. I’ll have no problem housing two men from his pack if he really deems it necessary for more advanced training.” Alpha Bane looks positively vivid and not for the first time today. I wish I didn’t approve for Tristan and the others went into town for some time off. He would have had a field day with this idiot. I seriously do not understand how he became Alpha of his pack when he was this incompetent, but his father approved it and transferred the power to him when he was 18. He is two years younger than me, but always thought himself better - even at Alpha camp when we were teens. He always bragged about how he didn’t want a Luna because she’ll just make him weak. I resist the urge to roll my eyes. A Luna does not make you weak! She makes you whole, strong and better! I only have to look at my parents and aunts and uncles. Although my uncle Brady lost my aunt Alyssa in a car accident 10 years ago, he found happiness and love in his second chance mate. Cassandra is a force to be reckoned with and she loves all her boys fiercely as she calls my uncle and his two boys. She practically adopted them from the get go, even though I had to kick Tristan hard in the ass before he gave her a chance.
I zone back into the meeting just as Alpha Falcon from the Midnight pack shouts at Alpha Bane to keep his mouth shut about things he knows nothing about. I follow the argument with interest. Alpha Bane has not forgiven the Council for deeming his pack as the third strongest in the East region, and therefore just barely allowing him in on these meetings.
“GENTLEMEN!” Head Councilman Eddar roars into the zoom room and I take a sip of my coffee to hide my smirk. Alpha Bane is proven to be a hothead, and I know Eddar is just looking for an excuse to take the title from him. “I think we should take a short lunch break and come back in half an hour. Then Alpha Bane of the Night Howl pack has something to discuss with us. Alright, we’ll meet back when it’s 1.30pm.” He closes down the chat, and I stand up to stretch my legs.
I walk down into the kitchen inhaling with appreciation!
“Something in here smells delicious, Mrs. Williams.” I say, as our Head Omega gives me a big smile. She has been Head of the kitchen since I was a kid, and boy can that woman make food with love. She is a fucking godsend, especially in tedious days like this.
“I’m glad you like it, Alpha. Lunch will be ready soon.” She answers, gesturing for me to sit down at my usual table.
“I only have a half an hour break, I'm afraid. I’ll just grab something later.”
“Nonsens, Alpha! Sit your butt down and I’ll have something ready in just a second. BLT extra bacon and ranch?” I lick my lips at the thought.
“Yes, thank you.” I grab water from the fridge, sitting down at the table. A few minutes later Mrs. Williams comes in with a plate filled with my sandwich and chips on the side. I’m munching on my food when my phone dings with a text message from my Beta.
T; Yo, there’s a new chick in town and she fucking hot, dude!
B; You are going to get rejected by your mate when you find her if you keep being such a manwhore.
T; She wouldn’t even tell me her name, but she is staying by the old Marigold Packlands. This interests me. I knew someone from the old pack managed to flee from the masakra taking place many years ago, and it was rumored her daughter or granddaughter inherited the cottage in the forest.
B; Was she a wolf?
T; Not exactly.
B; The fuck you mean not exactly? Get your ass home and explain this. I’ll also need you to keep me from killing Alpha Bane through the screen.
T; Bwahaha, dude relax. I’m on my way, but that girl is a mystery. She kept to herself and acted really shy until I asked where she lived and her name. Then she got sassy. There’s something about her. She seems like a human, but she is not just human.
B; Alright, get everyone home safe and come to the office. We’ll speak about this later.
I eat the rest of my sandwich while small talking to pack members coming in for lunch and answering concerned questions regarding the rogues. As I am getting up to go back to the meeting, my worst mistake walks in. We didn’t do anything, but I flirted with her for some time just because I was so frustrated. Luckily Shadow reminded me we wanted to stay pure until we met our mate, and I dropped the flirting quickly after that, but the damage was done.
“Hi handsome. Fancy meeting you here.” I give her a tight smile, folding my hands on my back.
“Hi Lucy. This is the kitchen and I needed lunch, which I assume is why you are here as well?” She laughs a shrill little laughter, trying to attach herself to my arm.
“Oh, Blakey. You're so funny.” I removed her from my arm.
“Lucy, I already explained this; it’s Alpha Blake or Alpha. We are not on a first name basis. Never have been, never will be.”
“Pssh. I heard your parents are looking for a suitable match for a chosen Luna, and who is more suitable than me? Why don’t you just accept me and we’ll be very happy. I’ll make you happy.” She purrs. I sigh and am about to tell her off when someone speaks from the doorway.
“Whoever told you that nonsense, girl, must have hit their head pretty hard! Blake's father and I would never dream of interfering in our son’s choices unless he asked for our help. And you would never become or be accepted as Luna of this pack with your entitled and snobbish ways. I would never allow it! And I am the Luna for now, and I am the one to give over my power, which will be to Blake’s actual mate. Now run along and leave my son alone!” Lucy’s lips are a thin line of annoyance when she looks at my mother who doesn’t waver an inch. She has no choice but to leave with her tail stuck between her legs. Attacking a Luna, verbally or not, is absolutely not allowed, and she knows that!
“Thanks mom.”
“Any time darling! Now go back to the meeting with ya. Tristan just pulled up.” She says while kissing my cheek. “Everyone else get back to work!” We harnessed quite a crowd, but everyone turned back to what they were doing as my mom ordered them.
I enter the office a little too late, but it is what it is, and as I sit down and log back into the meeting, Tristan walks into my office.
“Alpha Blake, you are late!” Alpha Bane immediately points out, and I can’t help rolling my eyes this time.
“I had a pack matter to attend to, not that you would understand, Alpha Bane.” I respond with a smile. He growls into the camera, but Head Councilman Eddar interrupts.
“Pack affairs come first as always, but please give us a heads up next time.” I nod, trying to not give him my i-don’t-give-a-fuck face. Tristan snickers beside me. “Alpha Bane, what was the urgent matter you needed to discuss with the other Alpha’s?”
“My mate has disappeared. She was kidnapped a month ago, and I’m requiring the help of my fellow Alpha’s to find her. I have emailed the missing persons report to everyone.”
“Are you sure she didn’t just leave?” Alpha Falcon asks, and I’ll have to agree with him. If Alpha Bane is as awful to his mate as the rumors suggest, I can’t fault her for leaving.
“She was kidnapped.” He answers through gritted teeth. I look over the report and it doesn’t give much to go on.
“There’s no picture?” I ask, but Alpha Bane just shrugs.
“I gave an accurate description. It should be enough.” He says and then he logs off. I shake my head.
“Gentlemen, we are required to help Alpha Bane find his mate. If any of you know where she is, you are obligated to speak up. That was it for today.”
Blake P.O.V.“Are they serious?” Tristan asks, staring at the blank screen. I just shrug, closing down the computer. “They held a lunch break, just for us to come back for this. Sometimes I don’t understand people.” Tristan nods while moving to a chair opposite my desk. “So, what pack matters were you handling?” “Fucking Lucy and her stupid fantasy about me accepting her as my chosen mate.” Tristan chokes on the air. “You’re not, right?” “Fuck no! I’m waiting on my mate, you know that.” He sighs dramatically, leaning back in the chair. “Good, because I am telling you man, I’m not going to be your Beta if you take Lucy as our Luna!” I laugh. “Alright, alright. So, what were you texting me about this new girl?” Tristan's eyes cloud over, and he tells me to wait on our Gamma Elliott. I decided to sign some papers for work while we’re waiting. A few minutes later there’s a knock on the door, and Elliott pokes his head in. “Am I disturbing the bromance?” He asks, and Tristan scowls
Allison P.O.V.My shopping trip went well and I brought home a lot of new things. Book, food, drinks and other necessities. I also bought earbuds for my phone, so I can listen to music whenever I want. Not that it matters a lot out here in the forest, but I like it when I’m out in public. It’s a good way to stay out of trouble. I park in front of my cottage, bringing in some of my bags. I have a lot to carry in, so I decide to put some music in my ear and enjoy myself while working. The music blasts into my ears, and I sing out loud although I can’t hear myself. I’m not much of a singer in public, but out here I don’t even think about it. I walk outside again when I’ve put on my girl power playlists, and Aretha Franklin - Respect makes me do some bad dance moves. I really enjoy my freedom, and being able to do whatever I want when I want it. As I walk outside again I’m going over the list of things I need to get done before tonight. It’s late in the afternoon, and I’ll have to work
Allison P.O.V.When I park outside the Marigold Diner, I recognize one of the flashy cars from yesterday. One or more people from the loud group yesterday are here. Just my luck. I brought my book this time, so I actually have something to do instead of being a creepy stalker, staring at everyone. Inside there’s not as many people as yesterday at lunch, but I also realize I’m really early. It’s just barely after 6, and they opened 5.30am, so they have not been open that long either. I steer in the direction of the table I was sitting at yesterday, noticing two of the men from yesterday sitting with a third I have not seen before. The one who tried flirting with me yesterday give me a polite smile, while his new friend looks at me like I am going to be his next meal - or first meal. I don’t know if he ate yet. I sit down just as a very perky looking Tina comes over with a big smile! “Allie! This is an early morning surprise!” She says with a smile, and I chuckle. “A good one, I ho
Blake P.O.V. I couldn’t help myself. I just had to see her again before going off to the Alpha gathering. So, when I was woken before 5am this morning, cold sweat running down my face, fear coursing through my body and my heart racing with a million miles a minute, I knew the feeling wasn’t my own. It was her. I jumped from my bed and ran down the stairs to get outside. There I shifted seamlessly and ran as fast as Shadow’s paws would bear me to her home. It didn’t take me long to reach her. I needed to make sure she was okay. Had she had a nightmare or was she in danger right now? I would not be able to rest before I knew it. Reaching her cottage, I observed her from afar. She was coming out onto the porch with a steaming mug and a blanket. She seemed alright, but I could still feel the conflicted feelings inside her. Our bond is already strong enough for me to pick up these things. Incredible really, the circumstances taken into consideration. Shadow whines for us to get closer,
Allison P.O.V.It’s been five days since I met Blake at the Diner, and he has been on my mind a lot since then. I can’t shake the strange feeling of him being important to me, but that makes absolutely no sense at all. He is a complete stranger, although the way I felt in his arms and on his lap when he comforted me in my panicked state was nothing I have ever felt before. The buzzing in my whole body and the stirring in my head, as if someone was trying to break free or something. Even now I can feel it whenever I think of him. His black hair, green eyes, perfect body and tattoos. Godness. No one should be allowed to be so freaking perfect. I have been coming to the Marigold Diner every day as promised, and I’m feeling more comfortable being out in public. Finally starting to feel safer. Tina has been a huge blessing I didn’t know I needed, and every day Tristan and Elliott have been there as well. As if they know exactly when I’m there. They have begun sitting with me, talking and
Blake P.O.V. Five days! I have been at this boring ass gathering for five lousy days and not just that?! No no! They made it a gathering of all fucking regions because Alpha Asshole and his minions complained and whined enough to the Elder Council! UGH! I miss my mate, and I wish I could go home to her soon, but I still have over a week left here. In endless meetings, and pointless work groups. We have discussed everything from food and water supplies to the smaller packs in rough areas to the growing problem of feral rogues. I know Tristan and Elliott have everything under control and they are taking good care of my girl. They update me every day when they have seen her, and they check on her in wolf form multiple times a day. Tina has been an angel and helped us keep her safe as well. I decided to tell her the truth, as I knew she would be on board with keeping an eye on Allie. It made it bearable to be here, but not more than that. And it also didn’t help that some of the Alpha’s
Allison P.O.V. ‘Girl, you need to wake up now! Our mate is here.’ Dawn says in my mind. It’s still really weird. Sharing my mind and body with someone else. She has been explaining everything about werewolves and how it all works while I’ve been out, but it’s still foreign to me. I was a simple human girl, who was running from her abusive ex husband, trying to start anew, and now? Now I’m some rare supernatural being, who can change into a wolf whenever I feel like it. That is so crazy to me. And then there’s the whole mate part. Dawn says I am going to have a soulmate, which is someone who will never hurt me. Someone who will love me, protect me and help me heal. It all sounds nice, but I am not sure if that is something I want for myself. Honestly I feel good in my little old cottage. It’s home now. I made it my home. A place where I am safe and myself. ‘But were you really safe there? The rogues would have killed us before we could live out our true potential.’ ‘Dawn, I am still
Blake P.O.V. I thought I had endured pain before, but hearing my mate break down like this, begging me to end her life and seeing her so completely hopeless and feeling her agony through our bond, breaks me in more ways than I ever thought possible! The tears soak my shirt, but fuck if I care! Even when she turns her head into my chest, and uses me as a cloth to dry her soaked cheeks, I don’t care. I will be everything and anything she needs! The raw feelings of heartache constricts at my heart while she sobs uncontrollably, her fragile body shaking and wrecking at each sob. All of them are a needle sharp stab to my heart and soul, and not for the first time I silently vow to her that she will never experience pain like this again! I will not let her down, and I will forever be the protector of her heart.Allie has been crying in my arms for over an hour, and at one point I almost think I am not enough to calm her down, but slowly her breathing evens out and she falls into a dead sle
Allison P.O.V.“Did you know she would be here?” Blake whispers in my ear and I shake my head subtly. Selene is smiling at us, as she beckons us to come to the stage with her. The pack is still on their knees before her. Blake and I take the stairs and walk to her with the rest following in our wake. “Is that?” Kayla whispers behind us. We both nod back at her, and she gasps. Derek and Kayla stand to the left of Selene, Cass and Brady with Tristana and Lianne beside them and Dana and Ezra with Elliott and Cassie on the right of Selene. Normally Blake and I would stand with his parents, but this is definitely not normal. Selene looks us over and frowns slightly. “Where is the Delta pair?” She asks, looking at Blake and I. We exchange a look. We’ve talked about offering the position to Neptune and Talia, but we weren’t sure if it was a good idea with Neptune still being in active service. Selene sweeps her look over the still kneeling pack. “Please rise my children.” She says with her
Allison P.O.V. I register that Blake comes into our room, but I do not greet him. I keep my eyes on the outside, while my music in my earbuds are on full blast. I need something to keep me from going downstairs, track down the fucking traitor bitch Lucy and kill her. I need to center myself. I can feel Blake blaming himself through the bond, and some small very petty side of me is glad of it, because he fucking should have banished her ass or killed her when she was nasty to me. Not that the world revolves around me, but I have learned alot in my lessons, and disrespecting a Luna or future Luna as she did is punishable with far more serious stuff than just sticking her in the dungeon. Now she is betraying everyone, and I know why she is doing it. I have seen her around, the looks she always gives Blake whenever she thinks people have her unnoticed. She wants what is mine, which is what is pushing Dawn over the edge right now. Packmembers are working in the garden; putting up chairs
Blake P.O.V.When Allie closes down the mindlink, Shadow points out how composed she was even when we could hear clear as day that someone or something spooked her while she was on her girls trip. Shadow is swelling with pride in my mind. ‘She has come a long way in a short amount of time, our mate.’ He says, sounding old and wise. He snorts at my thoughts. ‘I am old and wise, asshole. And we need to tell the others.’ He is right of course, although I take my time to get back into my office. I went out when Allie mindlinked me. I felt the need to be somewhere else when her first link came through. ‘Mom, we are moving the ceremony to tonight. Can you get the stage ready?’‘Tonight? But I thought.. What happened? Is my daughter-in-law okay?’ ‘She’s fine. She says we have to move it, and I am not going to argue with my mate when she feels this is best for the pack.’ ‘You are getting smarter by the day, son. I applaud you. I’ll get everything together. Don’t worry about it. Just be th
Allison P.O.V. “You’re joking?!” I howl with laughter, feeling immense joy when it’s echoed by the females around me. Lianne, Cassie, Talia and I have taken the day off to go out for some much needed girl time, as Blake and the guys answered the tons of emails that have trickled in through the last few days. Talia and Neptune have been with us for almost a week now. They have been living in the packhouse, and we introduce them as close family friends, much to both their delights. Neptune has occasionally been away to sniff out Bane and his rogues. He has assembled almost 500 now. The threat is real and growing every day. It had grown from 300 a couple of days ago to 500 this morning, when Neptune called home. I shake my head. The gloomy thoughts are not welcome right now. Not today. Today is about having a good time, relaxing and finding new things for Lianne. “I’m not. When he finally realized I teleported behind him, I could have killed him 5 times over. Then he whirled like a lo
Bane P.O.V. “Scream!” The female bites her lips so it bleeds, but no sound comes out. I am on the verge of imploding. I need her to stop being such a stubborn bitch and fucking scream for me. “You will scream soon enough.” I tell her, as I caress one of the wounds I inflicted on her last night. She has been a joy to torture and hurt. Not as much as Annabel, but close enough that I have been able to have actual orgasms from it. Other times I have Tabatha come and glamour the girl to look and sound like Annabel. I curse her every day. Fucking cunt. Why couldn’t she just stay where she was supposed to? This is all her fault, and I will be sure to tell her over and over again. She will know the fucking wrath of me when I have in my hands again. I can feel the rage burn in my veins, and it won’t do that if I kill the Alpha’s bitch. Not now. I leave her whimpering in bed, as I go out and grab the first female Omega I come across. I drag her into the bedroom in her hair. She at least has t
Blake P.O.V. I can’t get the thought about what Allie just said out of my head. She’s been having this off feeling about Lianne since we went home, and if I learned anything in the short time we’ve been together it’s trusting her instinct when she says or feels something. Even with our guests here, I will not forget what she just mindlinked me. ‘Blake, do you think Talia can maybe help us? I know she is a witch, and what I am feeling with Lianne is not shifter related. Her wolf is fine. It’s something else. Something I can’t quite put my finger to.’ We’re standing hand in hand at the front door, waiting for our guests to arrive there, when Allie mindlinks me. I open my eyes to ask why she is mindlinking me when I realize the others have gone with us. I look over my shoulders at Tristan, Lianne, Elliott and Cassie. They are all standing behind us, holding hands and in order of rank. I raise an eyebrow at the guys, but they just raise one right back at me. I ponder what Allie asked as
Allison P.O.V. I feel very confused when the gorgeous woman, Talia, says that my mate has been sending emails to witches tonight. Why would he not talk to me about it first? Has he been doing anything else without talking to me? Was that why he refused my help when I asked earlier? Does he not think I am strong enough to handle whatever we have to do to take Bane down? I feel a bit sad, isolated and angry at the thought of Blake not sharing the load of this weight with me. We are mates and partners. Equals. I sigh internally disregarding the feelings as soon as they present themselves. If Blake did this without talking to me, it was because he felt like he had to take action and he would have spoken to me tomorrow. Would I have been pissed he just went ahead and reacted without speaking to me? Perhaps. But he has been Alpha long before I became his mate, and he knows what to do and who to contact. I don’t. I would have gone with his suggestions anyway. ‘I trust your judgement, Alli
Blake P.O.V. The flight home, after we accepted Lianne into our pack, was uneventful, thank the Moon Goddess. Lianne and Allie made smalltalk and seemed to hit it off quite a bit, although Allie kept giving Lianne glances of confusion or concern. I made a mental note to ask her when we were back home, but it was so late when we finally reached the packhouse, I decided to wait. Lianne and Tristan went to his room in the packhouse, and I mindlinked his parents about the findings in the Night Howl pack, and that they should give them space to get to know each other before raining down with questions and happiness. My aunt made a rude comment I deliberately overheard. I also got a notification on my phone about a bounty the Council had issued on Bane. He was to be taken alive or dead, I myself preferred the last, to be brought to justice for his crimes against our community. I sent it to some of our associates, doubling the fee if they killed him within the next month. I have no doubt i
Bane P.O.V. “Sir, the agent from Night Howl is back.” One of my men says with a deep bow of his head. I lazily gesture for them to step forward. We are currently bunked down in a small pack we overtook a few days ago. I have managed to gather 150 rogues under me so far. They are so willing to come when I promise them free women and killing if they just do as I say, when I say it. It was a piece of cake to be voted Alpha of the Rogues, and now I am in control. Iron control. The little pack we overtook fought bravely, but we killed every warrior and child, keeping the women for fun and games. Especially the little Alpha’s daughter has been a pleasure to break in since the attack. Her family is one of the only ones not dead - they are captives in the cellars. Leverage so she will behave properly.“What news from my old pack?” I ask, looking at the spy. “Your former mate and her new boytoy were there yesterday, Alpha.” She says with a grimace to her companion. I scowl. So Annab
