"On the couch? I thought you were far more refined than that." I teased with a wink.

He pouted and said, "And what do you mean by that?"

I couldn't hide the giggle as I said, "I just never imagined someone with a last name like StClaire would do this type of thing on a couch."

Drake's smile and eyes turned radiant as he pulled me closer for another intense kiss. He wrapped his muscular arms around my waist, effortlessly lifting me off the couch.

Instinctively, I wrapped my legs around his waist, clinging to his neck as he carried me across the room to the bed.

Our lips and tongues moved in perfect harmony even as he stumbled from the amount of alcohol he had himself.

I quickly realized why we ended up back on the couch.

It was closer, and he was trying to hide how drunk he really was.

I pulled away, looking into his eyes. "Do I need to make sure you're of sound mind and can consent to this?" I asked.

He just smirked.

As he set me down on the bed, the blast from the air conditioner caused me to shiver.

He walked over and switched the air conditioner off. He even bumped the oscillating fan so it was no longer blowing towards me.

Wow, he paid attention.

He returned to the bed, pulled his shirt over his head, and dropped it beside the bed without breaking eye contact.

Every line on his body caught my attention. Especially those perfect V lines that disappeared below his sweatpants.

He caught me looking and smirked as he fell back on the bed beside me.

He kissed my neck, sending electric tingles shooting through me. I gripped his back tightly as the sensations seemed to reverberate around my body.

He smiled against my skin as he moaned out, "Mmmmmm."

Like he'd felt a similar sensation from doing it.

Slowly, he began to unbutton the top of my sundress.

As he palmed my breast, using his thumb to trace my nipple ring, fear washed over me.

I caught his hand and whispered, "I just wanted you to know... I've only with...with..."

Drake grinned and then nipped at my nose playfully. "I gathered that," he murmured. "Are you okay still?"

I nodded, feeling more secure under his quiet concerns over my ability to consent while somewhat intoxicated.

But regardless, I'm a big girl. I knew exactly what I was doing here.

He played with the ring with his tongue before slowly tracing down to my belly button.

"Mmm, no underwear? Interesting choice. Just don't bend over in this dress," he mumbled between kisses.

As his stubbly lips brushed against the sensitive skin near my hip, I couldn't help but giggle.

I tugged at his blonde hair, causing him to look up. "Ticklish?" he asked.

"Very," I admitted, without thinking my answer through.

Without warning, Drake launched a playful assault, his fingers digging into my sides.

I tried tickling him back, and I was delighted to discover that he was just as vulnerable to the sensation.

Game on.

This turned into an all-out war between us as we dodged and jumped around the bed to avoid one another's assaults.

Soon, we lay side by side, breathless and still giggling.

Drake leaned closer, his breath warm against my cheek. "I promise, no more tickling," he whispered, his eyes still gleaming, but now it was with a more profound desire.

An intense hunger seemed to take us both over as he hovered over me.

He finished unbuttoning my dress. His touches were more deliberate now. His fingers danced magic across my skin instead of tickling.

I felt him smile against my lips each time he elicited responses from me I hadn't known possible.

With each touch, my hips arched almost instinctively toward him, seeking to deepen the exquisite sensations he was awakening within me.

I could feel his erection, hard and pressing insistently against me as our bodies aligned with increasing urgency.

Letting go of all reservations, I reached for him, allowing my hand to explore until the impressive size took me by surprise.

He was formidable, far larger than anything I'd experienced before.

It must have been written all over my face as I paused and looked at him.

He chuckled and nipped at my nose again. "I'll be careful," he assured me.

He positioned himself above me, making sure to keep his weight on one elbow as he licked his hand and stroked himself.

"You don't have to do that. I'm already plenty wet," I whispered.

This made him laugh out loud before he leaned down and pecked my lips. "Just want to make sure I don't hurt you," he whispered back.

I just nodded in response. I'm not sure if that was possible, no matter how much lubrication was involved.

He pulled away and said, "Eve, tell me you want this again."

Was he suddenly doubting this? To be so confident otherwise, his pause here was nearly concerning.

I pulled him back on top of me and said, "Stop. I wouldn't be here if I didn't want this. If I didn't want... you."

He smiled and closed his eyes tightly as he rolled his hips, thrusting into me for the first time.

He did so slowly, inch by inch, allowing me to acclimate to the profound intensity.

The sensations were overpowering, engulfing me like a tidal wave.

Or a searing fire.

I wasn't sure which.

A loud moan ripped through my chest and burst from my lips.

Drake quickly covered my mouth with his hand as he giggled.

"Single room, yes," he murmured, "but remember, I've got neighbors."

I nodded, attempting to be quieter as he continued, but the intensity as he started to pick up speed made it nearly impossible.

Despite his warning, he was soon also just as lost in the sensations that he was making similar noises, marking the rhythm of our escalating passion with each moan and quiet gasp.

His elbows rested beside my head, holding most of his weight off me. His hands tangled in my hair.

He pulled at it as his thumbs traced my cheeks softly.

I suddenly realized he was holding me still so he could control every single aspect.

His ankles were looped with mine behind us, keeping my legs still. Anytime I tried to thrust up to meet him, he'd put a little more of his weight on me to keep me still. Even his hands in my hair were there to hold me perfectly still.

He was holding me down.

Oh shit, he was holding me down.

This made me almost start to panic until...

I had never experienced the intensity that rocked my entire body as I climaxed suddenly.

He maintained that steady, controlled presence inside me as he watched and felt me unravel beneath him.

He leaned in for one more deep, lingering kiss as he started to cum himself.

His controlled full-body shudders as he fell apart differed from my past encounters, marking a definitive end to when intimacy was always so...chaotic for me.

I glanced down at my phone moments after he jumped up and disappeared into the bathroom. I ignored Kha's barrage of texted pleas, but a message from the RA on my floor caught my eye.

"Hey... So your boyfriend is insisting on coming inside. I know you aren't home. I've told him that multiple times, but he refused to leave. I had to call the cops. He finally left before they arrived, so he wasn't arrested or anything. I just figured you would want to know. Sorry Eve. Happy birthday! I know how much this must suck."

My heart raced as I hastily gathered my clothes.

Drake walked back in, witnessing my sudden distress. "Where are you going?" he asked quietly.

Struggling to muster a coherent explanation, I stammered, "I... I should really get back. Rissa, my roommate. She'll be worried if I'm out too late. I just, you know, walked out of the party earlier."

Drake seemed to deflate when he realized I wasn't leaving over something he did. "It's late, and you've had quite a bit to drink. Let me walk you back to your dorm," he offered.

I hesitated. "I don't want to trouble you," I murmured, though part of me yearned for the safety his presence seemed to offer.

"It's no trouble at all," he insisted. "I just want to make sure you get back safely."

Finally, I nodded, managing a weak smile. "Thank you. I really appreciate it," I said.

The cool air did little to soothe my frazzled nerves as we walked back through the quiet campus.

As we neared my dorm, I saw Kha back on the steps.

I turned to Drake in a complete panic. "Nothing good will come from Kha seeing us together," I whispered urgently, the fear of what might happen evident in my voice.

Reluctantly, Drake nodded and quickly melted into the shadows, disappearing into the night to avoid further confrontation.

Kha was pacing fanatically near the building's entrance. He grabbed the huge, extremely heavy metal trash can and launched it at the glass door.

"Stop!" I screamed, but it was too late. The can smashed into the door, causing glass to fly everywhere and the emergency alarms to activate across campus.

That was one of the many reasons everyone on campus hated him so much. Do you know how crazy one had to act out to get all the alarms to sound off?

Well, we all did. Thanks to Kha.

I confronted him. "What the hell are you doing?" I demanded.

Kha had sobered up slightly.

Slightly.

His eyes were still a vivid, unnatural red, but now total desperation and regret were evident in them. "I had to see you, Eve, please. I'll do anything. Anything. Even go to jail tonight."

"Why are your eyes like that, Kha? They're completely red," I asked, my voice shaking as he looked down at me and then closed his eyes tightly.

"Eve, I... I don't even know. But that's not what matters right now. Please, just listen to me," he pleaded.

He stepped closer and then halted, a noticeable fear of causing further harm holding him back as he dropped his outstretched hands. "I've never felt anything like what I feel for you. It's like you've awakened something in me, something uncontrollable. And I hate myself for what I did to you tonight, fucking hate... myself. Uhhgh."

He growled in total frustration and said, " Eve, I can't make sense of my own mind anymore. Please, I need you. I really need you. I love you. You know I do. Please. I know I'm messing up everything I'm trying to say here, but please... You know me, please. "

He'd never apologized like this before, with so much emotion.

But then again, he'd never pushed it to the point where I broke up with him, either.

Despite everything, a part of me couldn't help but feel sympathy for him. It was evident he was battling inner demons far beyond what I could understand, tormented by forces that were seemingly tearing him and us apart.

The sudden arrival of campus police cut off any further conversation between us.

Given Kha's notorious history, they moved quickly.

One officer grabbed Kha's arm, wrenching it behind his back, while another pushed him forcefully to the ground. Kha's face was pressed against the cold pavement as he looked up at me in total desperation.

As he lay there, the chaotic, troubled man I had once loved, Kha's desperate voice carried over the still-blaring alarms. "Just let me talk to her one last time, then I'll go without a fight," he begged.

As the clock neared 3 AM, I summoned an Uber to transport me back to the dorm. Walking alone through the deserted off-campus streets was not wise. The car arrived swiftly, and I was quickly back at the dormitory. They had boarded the front door up with plywood. Even touching the outside keypad would set off the campus-wide alarms, so the first-floor RA was camped out by the door, opening and closing it for everyone from the inside. She looked up at me as I waved at her through the remaining window. With a sigh, she let me in. "Sorry," I mumbled."Don't worry about it, girl. He's actually far calmer these days, believe it or not. Happy birthday. I'm sorry he decided to act like that on tonight of all nights," Marley remarked. She was one of the few people who seemed okay with Kha. She was the sole reason I could get him up to my dorm as often as I did. I figured she was sweet on him or something. I commented that to Kha one night after she let us pass, ignoring a 6'9 tall individu

The following afternoon, as the campus buzzed with excitement for the game, Rissa and I made our preparations. I decided against wearing Kha's number 33 jersey and wore a simple white t-shirt and jeans instead. I put makeup on, but just enough to look like I had tried. Just enough to hide the hangover and shame from the night before. I didn't even bother with my hair. I just pulled it up into a messy ponytail. I never put my hair up. Not here, anyway. I made it a point to stop the second I got to college. I didn't need to anymore. Someone wouldn't constantly pull my hair here. As a journalist covering the event, Rissa always had access to prime seating. She handed me a pass and said, "This will get you on the field."I hesitated. "I don't want to be down there the entire game, Riss."Without missing a beat, she quickly arranged for us to sit in the third row, right behind the team's bench. She thought it was a perfect compromise. While it was better than being on the field with

Returning to the stands, I slid back beside Rissa. "I saw the girl Kha slept with in the bathroom."Rissa shook her head. "You need to drop that boy," she advised quietly."I already broke up with him, remember?" I reminded her. I didn't even believe the words as they left my lips. I had just called him my boyfriend in the bathroom. It was clear where my mind was still. Rissa laughed. "I highly doubt he thinks that's true."The game continued with its share of high-tension and thrilling plays. Drake excelled on the field. His athleticism was undeniable as he scored and assisted with compelling precision.True to form, Kha was a chaotic mess of energy and aggression. His tackles teetered on the edge of recklessness, drawing penalties and reluctant admiration from the crowd. For all the chaos he caused daily, this was one of the many reasons the school loved him. Few could justify celebrating his personality while on the field while simultaneously shunning it in daily life. I instin

KHA There was a security officer standing near the front door of my building as we pulled up. I looked at Eve, who was already shaking her head. "Yeah, my dorm is out as well," I muttered.I paused momentarily, considering our options. Then, without thinking it through, I said, "I'll just get us a rental. We need to be far away from the dorms for this anyway."Eve looked almost scared. "Why must we be away from the dorms?""Smooth job there, Ace," Vance remarked in my head. I bit my tongue for a moment before I turned to her. "Do you still trust me? Do you believe you're safe with me, Eve?" I asked.Vance's voice echoed in my head, mocking me. "She doesn't trust you. How could she, after everything you've done?""Shut up, Vance. You caused it, not me." I snapped back mentally. "Plus, you know she's the only one who keeps us sane.""She keeps you sane, maybe. But what about me? I'm always in shambles because of you and I don't get to see her," Vance retorted."You think I don't k

KHA So, I forced him to witness the hurt we had caused, maintaining my focus on her as he tried to pull it away. Holding her, all I could think about was how desperately I needed to make things right."Please stop crying and listen to me," I pleaded. "I can tell you everything now. Everything. But we have to let the delivery get here first.""Why do we have to wait for the delivery?" she asked in confusion."Because things might get a little crazy after I tell you, and I don't want anyone coming around," I tried to explain. It came out as little more than creepy at best. Vance chuckled darkly, mocking my efforts even though they were for him. "Smooth job again there, Ace."She started to panic, and I internally cursed. Vance was a total mess, his chaotic thoughts mirroring my own. "No, no, shit. It's nothing you have to fear... fuck, I'm messing this all up," I stammered, frustration with myself and Vance boiling over.Eve grabbed my hand, her touch instantly silencing Vance's cha

After several moments of holding her, Eve finally spoke up, catching me off guard. "I thought you said he talked," she said. It made me laugh and her eye me. "He does, to me," I explained, still chuckling. "You have inner thoughts, right? Well, I have mine and his. And he is relentless with me. If he could talk to you, you'd probably hate both of us.""That's messed up," Vance chimed in my head, and I mentally snapped back at him, "Well, it's true. You're a part of me, and I hate you most of the time."Surprised that this was the first thing she chose to ask after such a revelation, I held her at arm's length, looking into her eyes. "Are you okay, really?" I asked, genuinely concerned about how she was processing all this."I guess, I don't know... I think I'm in shock," she admitted, her response ringing with a hint of disbelief and confusion."You likely are, and that's okay," I reassured her with a slight chuckle. "I'll answer any question you have. I can now.""So your dad would

She nodded, avoiding my gaze, and my heart sank. Inside, Vance roared aggressively, but I quickly silenced him. "Shut up and stay out of it, Vance. We were the ones who messed up, not her. DRAKE The stadium roared with energy, the stands packed with students, parents, and alumni, ready for the season's first game. Eve and I sat near the middle. I glanced at her, her bright blue eyes fixed on the field, her lips tight as she scanned the players."Kha's still safety, right?" she asked, her voice quieter than usual, her nerves showing."Yeah, and Con's the quarterback this year," I confirmed. "Con played well last season, so he'll probably dominate. I was watching his highlight reels, and I'm impressed."Eve bit her lip, her hands gripping the edge of the seat. Her anxiety was obvious. Every time Con or Kha got the ball, her whole body stiffened like she was bracing for impact herself."Are they always this intense?" she asked, her eyes following Kha as he positioned himself for the next play."Yeah," I shrugged, glancing at her. "You'll get used to it. Con especially. He lives for this stuff."Just as I spoke, Con took the snap, dropping back to pass. Kha darted across t

EVE He pulled the towel off of my body as he positioned me on the bed. He got up to lock the door, and I couldn't help but watch him, appreciating how much care he took in everything he did these days. He may have been rubbing off on Drake, but Drake was doing the same in return. When he closed his eyes briefly, I spoke up, "Rissa won't come back anytime soon. She's in class." He looked back at me with a small smile. "I just wanted to make sure," he replied before returning to the bed. As he climbed back onto the bed, the playfulness in his eyes was unmistakable. It reminded me of the first time we were together, how he both treated me with gentleness and teased me throughout. He started tracing my breast, circling my nipple before lightly tugging on the ring. The sensation made me arch my back slightly, pressing into his touch. He smiled at me, and then he leaned down, kissing my nipple before looping his tongue through the ring. I couldn't hold back the loud moan, my hips i

EVE I saw Kha lingering outside the locker room and pulled him aside. His posture was tense, and his usual confidence was absent. I didn't want him to go back in there, not after everything that had happened."Kha, let's just go," I urged. "I don't want to wait for you to change."He looked down at me, the stress in his shoulders easing slightly. "Sure," he agreed, though I sensed some hesitation. "What about Drake? I drove here with him in his truck."I frowned, realizing this could complicate things. Drake and I already had our moment. It was Kha's turn now. I needed some time alone with Kha, away from all the tension building up. "Let him know we're leaving. I'll call for an Uber."Kha nodded and jogged over to Drake, who was sitting nearby. I watched as they exchanged a few words, with Kha gesturing in my direction. Drake looked concerned but didn't argue. He just nodded, and Kha headed back to me.While waiting for the car, I decided to text Con. I didn't want him worrying or wo

EVE The day with Conrad was easy, almost too easy. After the morning's chaos, it was strange how simple everything felt when just the two of us were in his room. We didn't do much. We just hung out, letting the hours slip away without worrying about what was happening outside those walls. He was easy to be around, and the stress that usually came with Kha and Drake was nowhere to be found. It was a relief, even if I felt guilty for enjoying it.As the afternoon crept closer to practice time, I realized I needed to change clothes. My usual routine of heading to my room was out of the question. I couldn't bear the thought of running into Kha or Drake or them getting updates from pack members after everything that had happened. They were probably still fuming, and I wasn't ready to face that just yet."I need to change," I said, glancing at the time. "But I don't want to go to my room."Con nodded, understanding immediately. He got up from where he was sitting and rummaged through a d

DRAKE Kha and I sat in silence, both of us trying to calm down after the near fight that had driven Eve away. My chest still burned with frustration, and I could see the strain in Kha's every movement. We'd almost come to blows, and the close we'd come to tearing each other apart made me sick. We both knew better. But knowing better hadn't stopped us. "She's not in her room," Kha muttered. "How do you know?" I asked. After everything that just happened, the thought of her being alone right now was agonizing. I was about to chase her down if we didn't figure out where she was. Command be damned. "Rissa just told me," he replied through gritted teeth. "She checked. Eve didn't go back to her room." It hit me. I knew where she had gone. There was only one place she would feel safe after what had happened. "She's with Ford." Kha didn't say anything at first, but I could see the fear in his eyes. "Of course she is," he finally said. "Why wouldn't she go to him? He's perfect fo

CONI couldn't believe she was here, lounging on my bed like it was the most natural thing in the world. After breakfast, I thought she'd stick with Kha and Drake, but she came to my room instead. She didn't hesitate, didn't second-guess it. Once I got her to calm down, she just walked in and made herself comfortable. Now, she was stretched across my bed, propped up on her elbows, watching me work on her bracelet. I wasn't even trying, yet she seemed drawn to me, like some invisible force kept pulling us together. She looked so calm and at ease in my room, and I wondered how she fit here so perfectly.I focused on weaving together a couple of leather bands with orange glittery strings. I laid the materials on the desk. She tilted her head. "Where do you keep orange glitter clothing?" she teased.I smiled. "They're from my old jersey from my last college. It became my good luck charm after a while, and I thought it might also bring you some luck."She narrowed her eyes slightly, not

EVE We headed to Kha's room after breakfast, and I knew why. Because Drake's room was directly beneath Con's.As soon as we entered the room, I sighed heavily, knowing what was coming."Just get it out," I said, bracing myself.Kha and Drake exchanged a look, biting back their words. I could see the storm brewing in their eyes, but they were holding back. I wasn't going to let them stew in their frustrations all day, not when I could feel their emotions swirling around us, threatening to suffocate me."No," I insisted. "You're not stewing in this all day. Get it out. Now."That was all it took. The dam broke, and it all came pouring out. Drake started. "We're upset, Eve. This whole thing with Ford... it's driving us crazy. We're jealous, okay? We don't like the way he looks at you, the way he's always there, always perfect. It's like he's this perfect guy for you, and we're scared. We're scared you'll want him more than us."Kha jumped in, his emotions even more raw than expected. "

EVE I woke up feeling queasy, but I pushed through it, determined to start the day on a good note. Kha, Drake, and I headed to the dining hall for breakfast. The usual smells hit me like a freight train, and I had to swallow hard to keep the nausea at bay. I tried to focus on the conversation with Kha and Drake, but ignoring the churning in my stomach was hard.I was picking at my food when I saw Conrad walk in. My stomach clenched harder, but it wasn't just the nausea this time. Something compelled me to move, to go to him. I stood up, ignoring the questioning looks from Kha and Drake, and walked over to Conrad. Before I could even speak, Conrad's hand found my arm, his touch steadying me almost instantaneously. The nausea vanished, and I felt clear-headed for the first time that morning. Without thinking, I invited him to join us once he got his food. But it wasn't just an invitation. It was a command. CONRAD I didn't plan on kissing her. Hell, I wasn't even sure how we ended up so close that it happened. But when it did, everything changed. The connection between us was intense and something I couldn't shake even after it ended.I would do anything to kiss her again. The spark, the way it made me feel...I couldn't even put it into words. It was more than just a physical connection. It was like a piece of her had lodged itself inside me, and I didn't want to let it go.The fact that she was pregnant, something that had always made me hesitant, suddenly didn't matter. The baby was a part of her, and that was enough for me. Realizing that what had kept me from taking things further with her was now irrelevant should have been unsettling.
