Alessandro:
“You have been spending more and more time outside, you do realize that?” Daniella asked, wrapping her arms around me from the back. She gently kissed my back, letting her lips linger there as I fixed my tie. “I don’t even remember the last time the two of us actually slept and woke up on the same bed without you being up before I was or in bed, if you ever do get in anymore, long after I slept.”
I stayed quiet as I kept my eyes on the mirror, but knowing Daniella, I knew that she would not drop the subject. If anything, she was going to do her best to get me to talk about what was bothering me, and that wasn’t something that I wanted. She wouldn’t like my answer, and I knew that I didn’t keep the topic to myself for months only to voice it out now.
I turned around to face her and she shook her head in question. “Did I do something to piss you off without knowing? If so, please do let me rectify, Alpha.”
I didn’t respond for a few seconds before cupping her cheeks and kissing her forehead. The issue was not her, and that was something that I knew very well.
It has been months since I have rejected my mate, and though I knew that normally, it shouldn’t affect me for more than a day or two, a heavy feeling settled in my chest and I couldn’t find myself finding a way to put a name to it.
“I’m just a little busy lately, Daniella, I don’t want you overthinking something that did not happen.” I said softly. She looked down at my chest before nodding.
“You called me by my name, and that is something that has been going on for months now.” She said, noting it out. I took a deep breath and smiled before connecting my lips with hers. She kissed me back, and wrapping her arms around me, I knew that she wanted to deepen the kiss; however, I pulled away before she could.
“I will see you later tonight,” I said, and she took a deep breath before taking a step back.
“I believe that later tonight would be long after dawn, wouldn’t it?” She asked, and I turned to the mirror. She let out a silent laugh before nodding. “I am going out for the day, I have a few things to tend to. If there is anything that you need…”
“Keep me posted on where you are going and you have my card if there is anything that you want to buy.” I said, stopping her. She stayed quiet for a few seconds before nodding. She walked toward me once again and gently kissed my cheek.
“If there is anything bothering you, what you are doing is not going to take us anywhere. Just talk to me and the two of us will solve it.” She said, and I looked away from her before nodding. “But considering the fact that you just stated that you would be seeing me later tonight, I will be waiting for you.”
“It would depend on whether or not I had work. If you find yourself growing tired, then you can just fall asleep; there is no need to…”
“We shift tonight, Alessandro, I doubt that you would be working when you are in wolf form.” She said, stopping me. I cursed under my breath, and she raised her eyebrow. I looked her in the eye as she walked toward me, gently running her finger over my chest, her breathing somewhat heavier than normal as she clearly feared how I would be reacting. Nevertheless her heartbeat was calm, but I could tell that she was trying to catch my attention somehow. “I think that it is time for our wolves to connect like they used to.”
I smiled and put my hand on hers, stopping her from making it go lower down my abdomen and she sighed and took a step back. I didn’t respond, and instead, I chose to walk out of the room, heading downstairs where I knew that Leonardo would be waiting.
His eyes met mine and he raised an eyebrow when he caught sight of my expression.
“Rough morning?” He asked, smirking when I didn’t respond. I rolled my eyes and nodded at the door.
“I just need to get the hell out of here. Only then would my morning be easier…”
Valerie:“Mum, you know that I am not a child,” I said through the phone as I put my hand on my swollen stomach.“Val, I never did say that you are, but wolves shift tonight, and you know how your father feels about any of you being outside when that happens.” She said, and I sighed. It was something that was drilled into my head, and no matter how much I tried to forget about it, my family had the habit of reminding me.“You know, mama, if the family stopped hunting the wolves down, maybe they wouldn’t be after us.” I suggested as I tended to one of the cats that was laying in her cage. Having been spayed, she was just waking up.“It runs in the family’s blood, little huntress. Mind you, not everyone inherited my blood like you,” she said, and I laughed. “Just stay safe and inside. For your child’s sake at least,”I ran my fingers over my stomach for a few seconds before nodding. It has been four months since that night, and my baby was a constant, daily, reminder of it. “Don’t worr
Alessandro:“Are you sure that you don’t want to go back to the pack, Alessandro?” Leonardo asked, shaking his head in question. I sighed and shook my head. The last thing that I wanted was to be dealing with Daniella right now.“I have to be alone for a bit. Don’t worry, I will be back in the morning.” I said, and he nodded in understanding. He walked toward the car, and I watched as he drove away before I turned to the forest.I roamed around for a few minutes as I looked at the rising moon. A small smile formed on my lips as I knew that I would be shifting. My eyes turned into a deep shade of golden, as my wolf made himself known, and it was seconds later before I howled. The wolves around started howling back, responding, letting me know that I wasn’t the only one here. The territory was mine, but I never did mind sharing it with others as long as we agreed to keep a certain peace between us. I shifted, my black coat blending with the forest’s darkness. The trees were high where
Valerie:I watched as the Alpha gasped, waking up from his slumber before he frantically looked around the room that he was in.His heart raced, and the monitor beeped loudly, startling me and the two nurses who were here by now. I nodded at the two ladies to leave before turning my attention to the man whose eyes were wide in surprise. “What…?”“How are you feeling?” He frowned in confusion, clearly surprised of where he was and who he was actually speaking to, and at this point, I couldn’t really blame him. I would have been surprised if I were in his place.“How…?”“You came to me yesterday.” I said, explaining the situation. “I had to get a few equipment and nurses to help, but don’t worry, you’re safe here.”He didn’t respond for a few seconds but I could tell by his confused state that it was the last thing that he expected to hear from me. “You need to try talking, Alessandro.”“Why did you help me?” He asked, shaking his head in question.“You came to me, surely there must ha
Alessandro:I waited as Valerie showed her father out the door before I walked out of the closet just as she walked into the infirmary room. Her heart raced and she shook her head as I ran my fingers through the dog’s muzzle for a second before turning to face her.“You were genuinely saving me.” I said, not turning to face her. She walked toward the dog before lifting him in her arms and putting him back inside the cage. The woman had my bed in front of one of the secluded areas where she kept her injured animals, and seeing that, I couldn’t help but wonder what her reasons were.“Sit, you shouldn’t have moved so early.” She said, nodding at the bed before heading toward the sink.“Rude,” I sat down on the bed and watched as she brought a bandage and her tools before setting them on the stool beside her. She ran her finger over my shoulder for a second, and I couldn’t help but find myself looking at her, admiring her features before she looked at me.Our breaths mixed, and I couldn’t
Valerie: It took me a second to realize that the man might have actually cheated on whoever that girl was with me. His eyes refused to meet mine throughout the entire call, but I tended to my business of cleaning and tending to his wound before taking a step back the second that I was done. My chest burned with a feeling that I didn’t understand, and though I knew that it wasn’t jealousy, I didn’t even think of having feelings for the man; but it was more or less my annoyance at the fact that I was used the way that I was. I shouldn’t have expected any less though. For a man who screwed me before rejecting me, I shouldn’t have expected any less. “Valerie…” he said, catching my attention as I was washing my hands. “Your wounds are tended to and if you want to go to your house, you can; but you are going to need to get enough rest. Otherwise, you are going to risk…” “You want me to leave when you were telling me that I shouldn’t get up earlier?” He asked, stopping me. “Surely,
Alessandro: I entered the house to my girlfriend frowning. Her eyes met mine, and I shook my head before approaching her. “Who is the bitch that you are fucking around with?” She asked, glaring at me. I looked at Leonardo, who shook his head, silently letting me know that he wasn’t part of this. “I doubt that this is a place for us to be discussing anything like this, is it, Valerie?” I asked, shaking my head at her. She scoffed before walking past me as she walked to the room. I watched as I heard her slamming the bedroom door shut, and I pinched the bridge of my nose before turning my attention to my beta. I shook my head at Leonardo, and he sighed. “She has been having this attitude since yesterday. She growled at almost everyone who thought of running toward her when she was waiting for you. She was more broken when you never showed up in the morning as well.” He said, and I nodded before moving my shirt to show him my shoulder. “What the hell?” “This is the reason why I d
Valerie: “I take it that you are still refusing to talk to me.” Alessio said, walking out of the house to see me. His dark brown eyes met mine, and I had to fight back turning to look at him as a number of feelings coursed through my veins as my heart ached. The idea of him being here, being betrothed to me, when everyone knew our past was something that bothered me, and I knew that he knew that. “I needed fresh air, and no, it does not concern you.” I said, and he raised an eyebrow when I turned to face him. I knew that he was not going to leave without getting what he wanted, and at this point, I didn’t want to bother looking at him. “You always said that you needed fresh air when you were annoyed.” He said, and I rolled my eyes. “Stop pretending that you know anything about me, Alessio.” I said, and he chuckled. “Well, I know a thing or two, and I think that two years wouldn’t have changed the woman that I grew to love over the years.” He said, and I looked down at my feet,
Alessandro: I watched as Valerie entered her office. Her heart raced against her ribcage, and I waited, not moving for a second before I cleared my throat when she took her coat off. She looked down at her hands for a second, and I couldn’t help but frown when I saw that they were shaking. “I know that you are watching me, Alessandro.” She said, not bothering to look at me. “I may not be a wolf, but as a huntress, I can sense a wolf’s presence a mile away, let alone his presence in my office.” “Are you okay?” I asked, shaking my head and she rolled her eyes. “I told you to leave, didn’t I?” She asked, and I raised an amused eyebrow. “I did, but I chose to come back because I have a baby on the way.” I said, and she laughed. “MY baby has nothing to do with a man like yourself. Anyhow, I am still in my third month, I doubt that you would be expecting me to give birth six months early.” She said, walking toward the closet to open it. She didn’t bother looking at me as she turned
Valerie: I smiled as I looked at myself in the mirror, my heart skipping a beat at the sight of myself in my wedding dress. I put my hand on my stomach as Rheniera, the last person that I expected to be the best friend that would be by my side through it all, helped me with my veil. “You look beautiful.” She said, making my heart swell. “Do you think that he is going to like it?” I asked, feeling somewhat insecure for a moment. The fact that I knew that I would be walking down the aisle alone was not something that I was going to deny. I neither had a brother or father to do it by my side, but I knew that even if they were alive, neither one of them was going to be there for me today. “He is going to be a blind man if he doesn’t find you as gorgeous tonight.” Alaric’s voice caught me off guard as he walked inside the room. Rheniera smiled at the sight of her brother, and he walked toward us, looking at me. “You look like a beautiful princess. Though most would be fooled by the t
Alessandro: I ran my finger over Valerie’s bare shoulder, smiling as I looked down at her as she slept in my arms. The fact that she was now officially mine was something that made my heart swell in ways that I never thought possible. To say the least, I knew that I got everything that I could have ever wished for, and I knew that my wolf was more than just a little content with everything that had happened. I leaned in and kissed her shoulder gently, letting my lips linger there for a few seconds before I put the blanket over her shoulder, covering her. Everything that happened up to this point played in my head, and I got up from the bed, knowing that tomorrow was going to be the third full moon after finding out about everyone’s lie and scandals. I never did expect to find myself being allies with those that I thought were my enemies, and not for one second did I consider that my best friend and ex lover, regardless of when it had happened, would turn their backs on me the way
Valerie:Alessandro wrapped his arms around me, turning me around before he laid me back on the pillow. He connected his lips with mine in a kiss that made my chest swell before he pulled away to rest his forehead against mine as he grinded against me.I knew that this was not something that he expected to hear from me after the conversation that the two of us just had. But I knew one thing, and it was me wanting to be his and wanting him to be mine. At this point, it wasn’t something that I had to ask, and it wasn’t something that I had to tell anyone against. He looked me in the eye as he pulled away from me, and for a second, I felt like I was a virgin who was going to have her virginity taken. The nervousness that I felt was one that I could tell Alessandro saw in my gaze, and I couldn’t help but blush when he chuckled and leaned in to kiss my forehead.“If you want me to stop or if you are having your doubts…”I shook my head in response. If anything, I wanted this more than eve
Alessandro: It took everything in me not to avoid my mate’s eyes as I spoke to her. I didn’t even know how to describe what I felt, but it seemed to me that she understood everything that I wanted to tell her, without the need of me actually voicing it out. “Leonardo and I grew up together, literally. Mom used to change both our diapers, I didn’t even think, not for a second, that this would have come out of him.” I said, and she nodded. “I cheated on Rheniera, in theory at least, with Daniella. I don’t even know how I was able to look her in the eye when I heard of what Daniella was doing, and the worst part about it was the fact that I didn’t even know why she would be doing so. I didn’t hurt her, I was sure never to do so, at least, before I met you.” The fact that I slept with Valerie was something that I regretted when it happened, and though I am more than a little thankful for my mate and for my daughter; I knew that it wasn’t something that I would want for my daughter to b
Valerie: “Hi, baby,” I said, smiling at my little one as she woke up from her sleep. It was around eight in the morning, and though it was a bit early for me to wake up, especially considering the fact that the pack doctors asked me to rest, I still wanted to take the chance to see her. And I knew that she was happy about me being there as I saw her smile and heard her gentle coos of happiness. She looked up at me with big beautiful blue eyes, and I couldn’t help the feeling of contentment that I got, knowing that she was here in my arms, safe at last. And though a part of me knew that Alaric ensured her safety, something in me was never going to be content when it came to the fact that my child was not in my arms, and I knew that everyone that knew us understood that. Alessandro, who was in the changing room when I got out of bed, walked inside her nursery and raised an amused eyebrow. It made my heart swell, but I was more than a little happy to know that we were finally home and
Alessandro: If anyone would have told me that I was going to be happy seeing the Lycan alive, I would have punched them in the face. But when my mate ran to him, wrapping her arms around him, hugging him as if he was the one person that she wanted to see right now, I couldn’t help but find myself smiling. Both of them pulled away, and I watched as Valerie stepped back for a second, looking at him before he raised her pendant. “You had one wish when I stole it, and it came true.” He said, looking her in the eye. He wiped her tears before looking at me, and I smiled and nodded. “If I am alive today, it is because you truly didn’t want me dying.” “How would I want you dead when I knew that you were giving your life up for me?” She asked, and I looked at the man. “For me to live, you chose to burn alive. You asked me to go back to Alessandro, and I knew for a fact that he was the last person that you would have wanted me to go back to. You put me first, and…” “And I would do it aga
Valerie: Had I been told that the man would have done this I wouldn’t have allowed him to. Hell, I wasn’t going to be taking part in this in the first place. His mum’s pain made my stomach churn and it took everything in me not to vomit at the sight of her crying the way that she was. It hurt me more than I was able to let out, and that was something that I knew that my mate saw. Kai and Arianna stood a step back, and I knew that even they were in pain. Whatever was going on with them, and the damage that they had with their mothers, they both left them without an explanation to why anything was happening, and I knew firsthand what it was to have so many questions that wouldn’t be answered. Dean and Nicholas rushed toward us just as Dante and Aurora reached us, and I couldn’t help but find myself looking away at the sight of blood that each one of them had on his body. “Valerie?” Dante asked, and I squeezed my eyes shut as I found myself thinking of how the man had burned himself
Alessandro:I wrapped my arm around Rheniera, pulling her from the man that nearly stabbed her chest before breaking his back, causing him to fall to the ground. Her eyes were wide in surprise, and I looked her in the eye, wanting to see whether or not she was hurt; but I was thankful when she nodded in thanks, letting me know that she was okay.It wasn’t until an eclipse made the sky red that we all stopped. My chest ached, and I couldn’t help but find myself knowing what that meant. The idea of her not walking out of that building was one that I’ve been trying to distract myself from for the past few hours as we fought, but now that we were going to have to deal with it; I didn’t know how I was supposed to react. Rheniera, catching the pain in my eyes, put her hand on my shoulder, squeezing it in assurance, and I put mine on her hand, hoping for the best of this to come. Men fought, others ran, and I knew that we were going to have to go through this and we were going to have to en
Valerie: I looked through the portal that Esther opened for us, and knowing that I was going to go in there to face everything that I once knew was not something that I wanted to deal with. It pained me to go against my mother but I also knew that if things were to proceed this way, then I was going to have to end them the way that I knew best. And that was going to be with the fire that I was born with. Alaric looked at me, and for a second, I couldn’t help but find myself being thankful for him being by my side. To say the least, I knew that Alessandro would have weakened me, he was my weak spot, and I knew that I wasn’t going to be able to do anything with him being by my side. I was going to be scared of something happening to him in the process, and that was going to be more of a distraction for me, and I knew that he understood that very well. The idea of my daughter being away from me was something that broke me inside too, and I had to admit, I was counting the minutes for t
