Awkward about Mom's presence.

Adrian's POV.

Throughout the journey from the airport to the mansion with Mom by my side, I felt awkward.

She was not acting wrong or countering me, but her presence was just so affecting me and I hated that it was.

I had suddenly gone dumb and numb like a suspect caught in the act of a crime.

When I was being spoken to by Raphael or Ryan, replying to them felt like the most difficult thing to do in life, so I rather replied to them with a nod or a small smile, which only reflected on my lips.

"Are you okay?" They asked Raphael to me, and I replied to him with a nod and a smile.

When we got to the mansion, I couldn't believe how relief I felt

It almost felt like I was just escaping from the captive of the wicked. Like I was just letting off from a cage.

"We're here." The guards announced with the car's door opening for us.

Though that changed nothing from my awkwardness, at least I would be able to keep some space between my Mom and myself.
