I SHIFTED my gaze towards the falls, "Yes."

I started walking back to our hideout but stopped because he suddenly held my arm.

"You are the reason why I went all the way here, actually. I saw your pet, asked and he pointed out that you are here so I went uninvited," he said in a serious voice while his eyes are all on me. I do not want to believe him because Vivi denied his claim but my forehead formed a knot, wondering.

"And why do you want to see me, Mister?" I stopped when I realized why. "Are you still chasing me for picking a deep pocket I did a while back?" I asked in amazement.

His face turned more serious, removing his hold on my arm. "I did not come here for that offense but for the crime you did to me, Miss," he said emphatically.

My eyes narrowed at his words. "I do not remember doing anything wrong with you, Mister."

This immediately planted a grin on his handsome face, seems to remember something I have no idea what is. "Then let me help you remember the kiss that you stole from me." His hands quickly held both my arms so I faced him. My eyes widened and dropped the cloak that I was holding when his soft lips fell into mine.

My mind was telling me to push him away but my body says otherwise. I just stood there, stoned, heart ramming inside my chest in an erratic phase and I am certain that it is not because of nervousness this time.

He closed his eyes and gently moved his lips that almost made me insane. Strange. My eyes closed voluntarily and gave in. I followed the movements of his lips and equated our rhythm. Now I know that the stolen kiss I did to him was not his first.

I feel suffocated but I cannot stop. The kiss lasted longer than expected and I was catching my breath after. I opened my eyes when I felt him move away from me. I stared at his lips while I try to relax my hard breathing, deliriously sweet.

"What did you do?" I said in a whisper, regaining my consciousness. Shame seeping through my bones. Why did I answer his kisses? I want to be angry at myself but I do not feel any regret inside me. In fact, I really enjoyed it.

"Three nights," he started. "I cannot sleep for three nights after you kissed me, Miss. I searched for you for three days, and I finally found you today," he added seriously. "From now on, your lips are mine."

"What?!" I shouted in astonishment for I cannot seem to understand what he said. Three days. It has just been three days since we met. Our first meeting.

"From now on, you are not allowed to steal kisses from men other than me. I am ready to surrender my lips to you, my beautiful miss." His grin widened as he saw my shock reaction from what he said. He tucked some of my loose hairs on my right ear.

I tapped his hands away from me when I regained control over my emotions again. Impossible. You get a grip of yourself, Aliara!

"Are you out of your mind?" I uttered in disbelief. "You cannot just do what you want to do like taking possession of anybody's belongings. My lips are mine and yours are yours. Are you like that to every woman you encounter?" I cannot contain the anger I felt.

His head knotted slightly, not liking what I said. "You are the only one who tasted my kisses."

My jaw dropped at what he said. "What? you mean to say that I was your first, Mister?" I said with shock evident on my voice.

"Indeed. You are lucky," he said proudly with a grin on his face.

I snorted. "I do not believe you," I said solidly as I cannot hide my unbelieving expression to him. My attention currently laid at the falls.

'Just what in hell are you doing, Aliara? Why are you enchanted with this stranger when you should not have? He is handsome and his kisses are sweet but that is not all to a man. You should not be fooled. He is a stranger!' I scolded myself.

"I will not lie to you. Are you not thinking as to why I was stunned with what you did that time? You are making sure I never follow you right?" he said with squinting eyes which was probably because of suspision.

I lifted my brow and recalled his reaction from that fated day---Wait, is he supposed to be this open when talking about kisses? It is like he is used to this and he do this so often with anybody whose available to waste time.

"How can I forget such a beautiful lady who kissed me on broad daylight?" he added.

"To what do I call you, Mister?" Before I know it, I unconsciously asked him. I seriously cannot believe what just happened. I got to taste his sweet kisses for the second time but I do not even know of his name.

"Sevasti," he said almost in a whisper manner. "My name is Sevasti," he uttered much louder then the first one.

I nodded my head. "What a beautiful name..." I said unconciousy while I stare at his eyes. He smiled at my remark and the moment I realized, I was smiling too. "Aliara, that is my name."

He stared at my face for a moment before he finally spoke again. "Aliara, my beautiful lady," he said with a smiling face. And I was left staring yet again.

His smile is as beautiful as spring. Eyes glittering like a fine jewel. The more I stare, The more I realize how lucky I am to have his attention this much. Out of all the people who said that I am indeed a beautiful lady, only his can make my heart flutter. It was like a song to the ear I would gladly repeat for a whole lifetime.

I am not sure about what I feel for now, my heart is hammering inside my chest that I think he could hear it from the way he is so close to me. Too close.

Am I allowed to feel like this to a man I have met just a couple of times? I should stop this strange feeling sooner. I have no need for this.

'Earlier, you said that you should not fall for his tricks, Aliara. What are you doing in his presence? And should you be asking for his name?' The voice in my head says.

My attention was taken away from him when I noticed the scattering fireflies behind him. We were surrounded by blue flickering lights in seconds. This is what I like about this place. The fireflies lit blue. It only means that the sun has set.

"Are you not returning to your home? It was almost evening and the roads are getting dark," I asked. I heard no answer from him so I shifted my gaze from the fireflies to him. He was staring at me intently, like memorizing every part of my face. "It wil be a long journey," I added. He did not seem fazed.

"Will I see you again here when I come back tomorow... Aliara?" he asked, saying my name with an unreadable yet soft tone at the end, my name.

I took my time to stare at him so I answered him late. "Tomorrow afternoon..." I trailed while watching him. "I will come here tomorrow afternoon," I continued in a slow phase, not sure if it's the right words to say.

"What about the next day after tomorrow?"

Again, I stared at his face. Not sure if I am weighing my answers or am I just too hooked to look at him in this distance. He just stared back at me with seriuosness in his eyes. Waiting for me to answer. His voice full of hope.

"I come here everyday," I said.

A smile sprouted and his face brightens. Adding colour to the romantic scenery behind us. "Then it means I can see you everyday from now on."

I just smiled at the thought as an answer.

AFTER THE fateful meeting, I get back to the hideout and reach for the pouch full of coins that I picked in his pocket without noticing, Sevasti.

"Fool," I said with a grin on my face. "I got you last time with a kiss and you have not learned your lessson yet."

I peeked at the pouch and got shocked because the content was all gold coins. "I did not know that this lowly guard is loaded," I said out of curiousity leaving a knot on my head. "I am not aware if there is a guard comes from a royal family. Why do I only know of this now? Strange," I added to my rumblings.

I looked at my shoulders when my pet, Vivi landed.

"I never imagined that the man can behave so foolishly, Vivi," I said, the grin never leaving my face. "He is too strucked with my charm," I added with full arrogance.

"My dear mister! My dear mister!" he answered that quickly set a frown on my face.

"WHAT DID you just say? Your dear mister? Do you adore him more than me now, Vivi?" I said with much anger laced on my voice. Is that why he did not want to get away from his arms earlier? "I love you more! I love you more!" His gaze shifted from one place to another, not sure what his next move was. To stay on my shoulder or to go away. "Why call him your dear tister, then?" I asked, my frown grew bigger when I was answered with silence. "If you love him more than me, go ahead and go to him. To your fool of a mister. Ido not give a damn!" I said as I dismissed him on my shoulder signaling for him to go. I rolled my eyes when he flew away and got lost from my sight. He did not even say a word. The audacity of that bird. "If you really go to him, I will make sure to tangle up your bones altogether. Hmmp!" I irritantly said while I slipped the pouch back to where I hid it and walked back to the hideout. "You were gone longer than you ever did, I t

"ADRINA," I called as I walked near them to catch her attention that she immediately gave to me. "Rest for now, Hamil," I said facing Hamil. He gave me a nod and went to the other who was training.I gave Adrina the cup of water I was holding."Thank you, Miss," she gratefully said. I just looked at her while she drank the water I gave in one go."Let us reschedule going to the market for tomorrow. You have been busy all day and I know that you are tired from all that training.""Good to know that, it was almost evening. The sun is setting at any moment now," she muttered under her labored breath after gulping the water.I just nodded at her and got the cup."Do not push yourself in training too hard, it will take a long time before you learn the things you have to," I said to her and she gave me a frown in return."But it was exactly eighteen days before the next full moon, the night of your attack," she uttered. Now, it was my t

LATER ON, they stare at each other and laugh ever so loudly. Seeming to know the answer they wanted to know just seconds ago, two of them gathered around me. "I wonder what it is that made your face as red as ripe tomatoes, Miss?" said one of them. She was talking to them but felt like that one question was for me, teasing. "Indeed. Perhaps what happened between the two of them was a beautiful thing," said the other one. "Maybe his lips and hers met." "Or maybe more." My forehead creased, not liking where the conversation was going. "No! It was just a kiss, mermaids," I defended but quickly covered my own mouth. I spilled too much. Because of what I did, they eyed each other again and laughed harder than they did earlier, almost choking. I just frown at what they are doing. I am beyond annoyed by these mermaids, they did not deserve the name. It should be sirens. Sirens are evil according to the myths. It sounded better. Sh

"WHY ARE you silent? You were not like that when we first met. I was talking to you but I did not receive a single response from you," he complained, glancing at the surroundings because the fireflies are starting to get active.I hid at the tree fearing that he would catch me for no particular reason."If only she was here, she would see how beautiful these little fireflies were. I wanted to see her lovely smile, her sparkling eyes and her reddened cheeks bathed in this wonderful scenery," he said with amusement evident in his voice.I was stunned for a moment by what I heard, my hand reaching for my ramming heart inside my chest. My heart was rejoicing. Rejoicing for what? Why am I feeling like this? Is this the right thing?"I really like her so much, bird. She was the only woman who made me feel like this, too much adoration. I can never remove her from my mind now."I bit my lower lip and gradually peered at him. He was just staring at nothing

"I am not a thief. How many times should I tell you that for you to understand, Miss?" said Adrina. It sounds sarcastic but that is her normal way of speaking. The angry lady was now furious because of what she said. Considering the age gap, the lady must have been offended."Fool! You have no right to answer a noble like me. Your tongue is too sharp. I will make sure you are punished." The lady tried to put a finger again at her when I interrupted and flicked her hand."Did you see her touch any of your belongings for you to accuse her of thievery, Miss?" I said. She did not hesitate to show her annoyance at my intrusion."And who are you? Do you have my permission to intrude in this? Mere people have no claims here. I have no need for your opinion," she said, her voice laced with filth as she looked at my being from head to toe. ADRINA LOOKED at me before speaking again. "Why do you want to know? Who are you, Sir?" she said.I wanted to scold her because of her attitude but I controlled myself. If only it was the other guard she was talking to, I might have dragged her a long time ago and punished her for her bad behavior."Fool! You should not talk like that to--""Favier," Sevasti interrupted what his comrade was saying. When their eyes met, they understood what the other one meant, Favier bowed his head subtly as an apology for what he was trying to say."Adrina," I said, catching her attention. "Respect him. He is one of the guards of Farianio," I continued. Her expressions did not change but she eventually nodded, forced."Are you a guard, Mister?" said the lady that caught my attention. Then she eyed him from head to toe that I unconsciously do too. It was not that grand compared to what he wore the other times we met but it was not too plain either. It is only right

"Let us go, Adrina," I said and dragged her out of that scene. I cannot even lift my head to face the two gentlemen who were still waiting for my answer. "We are going home! We are going home!" said Vivi. I calmed myself enough from the shame I have felt earlier before I talked. "Yes, we are going home," I said with a glint of annoyance in my voice. "Why do you have to join in the conversation, Adrina? I wish you would just shut your mouth with your unsolicited opinion," I said glaring at her but she just returned that kind of look to me. "Are you not the one who said that I am your child? I just stood for you," she countered. "Why do you have to do that? You know that I am just kidding." She scowled at me and removed my hold on her. "Why? Because you do not want that man to hear it? Do you know him? How do you know that he is a guard when he did not look like one such as now?" I averted my gaze away from her. Anywhere just not

"You are really mine now, my lady.""And how so?" I said while I raised a brow at him, removing both my hands on his nape. His forehead knotted at what I did and the way he groped my waist tightened thinking that I might run away from him again."Are you not?""Hmm," seems

I was so far away from her the reason why I think she did not notice me. Also, she seemed to be out of it and was thinking deeply to even notice my presence. She had been here earlier in the afternon and now it was getting dark but her position did not seem to change even in the slightest. I exhaust my eyes just staring at her beauty, at her hair wavy every time the wind blew. She is dressed better now than before. Truly, she became the queen of Kozania. I LOOKED at Adrina when we reached Farianio's palace. Tonight, to be sure to really surprise them with our attack, and another is for them not to be ready so that we can easily conquer this kingdom.Everyone is in the dark, hiding and waiting for the signal so that they can show up to the opponents. We use the sturdy weapons made by the Verdantes. It also took a long time before Dardo made his decision but in the end he chose to be my ally. I gave him a chest of gold which he really enjoyed. But he did not join our attack, considering the welfare of his kinsmen. I did not force him either. We have enough weapons from him and I think that is enough. He nodded at me so I smiled and turned to Vivi."Vivi," I told her. He flew away from my shoulder and fly freely through the air."Start the attack! Start the attack!" he shouted repeatedly with his shrill voice until it reached all our comrades.I pulled the sword out of its sheath and jumped fro

The woman I will continue to love and will love until the last of my breaths," he said, seemingly trying to make me understand what is being said by him as the heaviness of his breath intensified. He looked down and when he spoke again, calmly. "I am sorry that I am not with you in all your suffering. I am not there when you need me. I am not there when you are looking for me. But, Aliara, I really want to go and see you at times you want me to be there. I want to save and protect you but my father always stops me. He does everything just so I cannot see you." His mouth clenched his jaws and turned to face me again, his eyes full of anger, longing and sadness. "I really love you, Aliara. That will never change. Maybe you really ought to live quite a long life.""It will still take a long time because I am barely done with everything I have to do." I moved closer to him, he did not budge and just stayed in his place. "But how do you make sure they are fairies? You just heard that they can control plants, do you not? We now face the creatures who were watching. The reactions they show vary but curiosity prevails. I closely watched them as the soldiers adjusted the rope at my height. That only faded when I heard Vivi’s loud whistling in the air. He circled the creatures in front of us before approaching them. He did not stop flying, but his eyes were focused on me.A soldier pulled me up again to attach the rope to my neck, I just let him do that, still looking at Vivi. Earlier, he had been quiet all the way down as he followed us and I know he was sad now as he witnessed my fate. Her chirps seemed to be crying as I heard it so I also felt sad. I will leave him. It was just now that thought crossed my mind. That I will be leaving him.I smiled at him to convey that it was all right. That he did not have to cry and be sad. I know he can do everything without me. She can find a new friend to love and take care of him like I did. Otherwise, he will join other birds and live

THE SURROUNDINGS were bright as the sun had already risen when we reached the center of Farianio. The creatures parted to give way to us, curiosity was written in their eyes as they looked. The soldiers were in front and on our side, watching us closely as if we could still escape in this condition. Aside from chaining our hands, we were already tired and weak from the long journey. And most of us were still wounded.I could no longer walk properly because of my trembling leg. The aching wound in my thigh seemed to spread all over my body. My sweat was dripping, my throat was dry and I was definitely pale because of the blood I had lost. These stupid soldiers do not even give us a drop of water."Aliara," Casias called, he was just next to me. Hands were also tied and had nothing to do but obey these soldiers. He called me several times but I never looked back at him. This stupid traitor! I nodded and stomped on his foot. His jaws clenched and we applied more strength to our swords, still stuck to the air. I quickly backed away and struck the sword I was holding on his stomach but he immediately dodged so it just touched his clothes. He gripped his sword tightly and successively rushed at me but I avoided everything as he continued to retreat. When he stopped, I turned around and rushed first, with each strike of my sword he shielded it with his weapon. However, I hit him several times with my arm and hand. But because he was strong he was not shaken by those measly attacks.Annoyed, I blew a massive puff of air when he kicked me on the side, I backed away and stopped. My eyes were firm as I turned to him. I was ready to rush again but I stopped when an arrow hit my arm causing me to release the sword I had in my grip.My mouth stopped at the pain I felt here. "YOU ARE a princess, Aliara?" Rowan spoke again but I ignored him.And since Casias was also not surprised by that, it was only a fact that Favier was stating the truth, that he was affiliated to the palace.I smirked after a while, sarcastically. There are many questions in my mind but I am slowly coming to an understanding on what is happening now. They have known each other for a long time, even before I came here to Ohayas. It was very clear that Casias had betrayed me, he pretended to know nothing about me, that he did not know me. Perhaps that fool Henicio is watching over me. And this is the right time to kill me.Am I quick to trust so I am always betrayed by the people around me?I want to laugh at myself for that question. But even if he deceived me now I do not intend to question him.
