“Why the heck did you fight with John?”
Ava's voice piqued with curiosity as his head whipped towards her. When he turned to face Ava full on, he met her standing just two feet away with arms crossed firmly below her chest—her eyes gleaming venomously. He narrowed his gaze at her before raising a brow.
She knew the perfect way to cause mischief, and she had already started it the moment he got home.
Clearly, Alexander knew he wasn't meant to have a peaceful night that day, but at least, not to the extent of getting home and the first thing he made eye contact with was a fierce-looking woman who would devour him if she had the opportunity to.
He blinked back his confusion – searching her face as she had done his before replying, “Whatever it is, we can sought it out tomorrow. I need to take a nap.”
His response was stern, yet calm – and as he turned his back to take his first step towards the stairs, Ava fired back—her tone dripping with annoyance and irritation. She seems to have gotten even angrier than she was.
“Yeah, right. Even bullies need to take a nap after breaking the jaw of the victim -" she carried on with a high-pitched tone, “you murderer! Are you trying to kill even John now?”
The air stilled as Alexander's thoughts wavered for a moment. He knew she was spewing out outrage nonsense according to the mentality John had made her believe in and as far as he knew Ava, with her venomous demeanor, things could get ugly quickly if they weren't apprehended, but by calling him a murderer when he hasn't thrown a dagger at John or stab him right in his chest despite his annoying ego made him felt congested in his chest.
Calling John the victim was a mistake she couldn't amend once she gets to find out the dark and true side of him. He definitely wouldn't put the blame on her; she has always been kept in the dark, and she will always return in that dark: at least, it was better off that way.
He sighed as he tried to placate his nerves, but the irritation had already begun to creep into his body. His patience was wearing thin, and he tried so hard to adjust to all the emotions that were buzzing in.
He turned to her at once and asked in earnest. “John told you I fought with him?”
“I'm not dumb, Alexander. I know what you are capable…”
“But you've been dumb ever since you fell in love with him,” Alexander said, cutting Ava mid-sentence as she became dumbstruck for a moment.
Did he just call her… dumb?
Now, he was beginning to throw shades of insults directly at her face. She can't deny it but, this was the first time Alexander had directly said insulting words to her, and she just can't believe how he could confidently and without quilt call her 'dumb.'
As her thoughts wavered for a moment, Alexander spoke up before she could come up with another infuriating word.
“I think there should be no further discussion about this. Just let me have a peaceful night, will you?”
Seeing that he was about to leave, Ava quickly countered. “Of course not. I'm dumb, right?” She hesitated for a while and nodded her head, then added with a thunderous voice, “please remind me why a perfect man like you decides to marry a dumb girl!”
And here goes her usual question – "why did you get married to me?” He knew Ava—she seizes every opportunity to ask this question. To get to know the truth that he couldn't offer to her now. As he said earlier, it was better she remained in the dark – at least, this time, they were comfort staying in the dark.
Since he had no answer and was clearly tired of repeating the same old lies—he continued walking towards the stairs but was caught mid-way by Ava's question.
“Could that be the reason you decide to flirt with other girls? Probably, they would be not as dumb as I am.”
He froze for a second when he heard her tone lighten for a moment and, sincerely, he thought he had imagined it. This time, there was something softer that encompassed the anger in her tone—as if she was eager to know the answer to this question in particular. Regardless, his thought was disrupted when he put her question into place. What in fuck's name is she talking about now? Flirt with other girls? Just when he thought he was now a responsible man, her question had done nothing else but slap him in the face.
He knew for a fact that she has been home all day. What could possibly give her the impression that he was flirting with other girls during his absence from home? Could it be that… fucking douchebag did something?
“John told you this too?”
“Does that matters?”
He turned and walked leisurely towards her. Ava froze when he left a sliver of space between them. She couldn't help but think that his movements were deliberate, but she quickly amended herself and tried to focus on getting her answers, but the smell of his attractive cologne mixed with his aftershave was enough distraction already.
Staring down at her; he asked. “So he told you I was flirting with other girls, and he tried to stop me, but surprisingly, I punched him in the face, right?”
Ava pulled away the cloak of ignorance as she bats her lashes in astonishment at his correct prediction.
“How did… you know about that?”
Only a dumbass would not get used to John's trick at this point. He knew it, the moment John approached him at the club, he was positive his intention would be rather cunning. Behind the scene, they would be probably around five highly paid professional cameramen who would capture every moment he had with him – and the moment he raised his hands to punch him in the face, he fell for his dirty tricks.
The lame ass got some stupid trick up his sleeves – making up a story even with their little encounter. Smart move. He would commend.
“Did you… flirt with other girls, Alexander?” Again, Ava repeated.
This time he was positive he caught on to the hint of eagerness that flashed in her eyes. She was staring at him eye-on-eye, giving him all the expression she could to make him speak up.
She had come to him a while ago dripping with arrogance and annoyance, but why was she suddenly acting like a two years old who was urgently in need of candy? Although, he couldn't quite put in place what her reaction was all about, but since she was so eager to know this, then he wouldn't give in to what she wanted.
He searched her eyes for a moment, making sure of his suspicion before replying, “Since he told you I flirt with other girls, then just believe I did. You've never really cared about my opinion anyway.”
“I'm asking you, Alexander. Did you flirt with other girls?” This time, she asked rather optimistically.
“Yes, I did flirt with other girls. What has that got to do with you?”
Thinking back about his response, he realized that he was beginning to sound like her. He was surely giving her a taste of her medicine.
Besides, what's the point of Ava getting to know his opinion? She seems to have been possessed by John and only gets to believe whatever he tells her.
The realization had dawned on him a long time ago that arguing and making himself clear would be fruitless. But whenever he tries to avoid any form of argument with her, it seems to only get worse.
This woman is for sure: unavoidable.
“Indeed, you did it. After all, John wasn't lying anyway.” Ava said, but this time, unusually quiet.
Despite her tone sounding so calm, Alexander could still detect the hidden terror in it and if he was trying to put that into a different term, then that would be the tone of jealousy – that's if his mindset is not playing tricks on him.
However, when he was reminded by his subconscious that she was obsessed with John, he sighed and waved away such thoughts.
But instead of arguing and yelling at the top of their lungs all night, he decided to rather give it a twist.
He leaned in, so she was now facing him chest to chest. A smile curled against his lips when he noticed how tensed and stiff she got. The confusion sweeping into every cell in her body was like an open book to him and so, gently and slowly, he placed a hand on her shoulder and asked.
“Mrs. Georgia, are you jealous?”
What do you think? Is she Jealous?🙃
“Mrs. Georgia, are you jealous?”He half-smiled knowing his word will rile her up, but instead of resorting to violence like he thought she would, she never responded. Instead, she seems to think through the situation as her expression drifted from confusion to realization and then, accompanied by a loud huff.“Go to hell, Alexander.” She spat out—her words vicious; leaving no room for whatever pleasure he was trying to introduce. That was more like it. He expected this response. He knew her reply would be stern, serious, and daring – and how she was still standing courageously and confidently right in front of him even though there was only a sliver of space between them showed how daring she indeed was.Although, he noticed how stiff she got when he leaned in but in less than a few seconds, she had learned to adjust to it and stand tall just to keep her ego. Other girls couldn't do this—other girls were unable to stand confidently this close – definitely, they must have melted right
Without letting her process his words, he leaned into her face—making sure there was just an inch of space between them – his hot breath fanning her face and as he raised a brow expecting an answer from her, Ava couldn't help but wonder if that was indeed a question that needed an answer. She took a heavy deep breath—bringing to ease all the emotions that has built in her. She has been hesitating all along but this time, he needs to get his fucking hands off her waist 'cause he had no right to do so. Only John had that right. He was taking advantage of it—he was taking advantage of her feeble strength, and decided to press even further. No! This shouldn't be happening. She was beginning to get mad at herself for acting too weak and letting him take advantage of it, and at the same time, she was mad at him for taking advantage. Physical, Mentally, and everything that has to do with them didn't go quite well, so how exactly did they end up in this state? With 'him' holding her possess
“Stupid.fucking.dumbass.brain!” She cussed through gritted teeth while leaning her back on the door after she'd closed it behind her. She had never thought that a day would come when she could act this dumb and blab out nonsense right in front of Alexander. For fuck's sake, it was supposed to be an argument—at least, it started as an argument, so picking up the same pace and ending with something related to it was the right thing: so how exactly did it end up so dramatic? Saying he was handsome even in an argument, felt like she had been wanting to say it for a longer time but only had the opportunity to speak up – and how she said it so confidently and almost screamed it to his face showed how greatly she has always wanted to remind him of how gorgeous looking he was. No, how greatly her stupid inner voice couldn't hold it in anymore and decided to scream it to his face. How can she? How can she not think of the level of embarrassment it would cost her? Well, it turns out that her s
She can't possibly get obsessed with what she doesn't love. That was not possible. She missed John. She missed the good memories and even the few bad memories they once had. It was so unfortunate that she just cannot turn back the hands of time to appreciate those moments even more. He was her first love, and as they say, first love can't be forgotten. Most especially—when he wasn't willing to let her go, but the surrounding circumstances had left him with no choice but to accept his and her fate. If it wasn't for that accident, she definitely wouldn't have ended up in a forced contract marriage with a stranger. Not that it was completely forced, she was just left with no option but to oblige. She heaved a sigh while stroking her arms. She could remember how everything was so perfect some months back: having the best parents and also having a perfect relationship with John, until everything took a drastic turn after she sustained a brain injury and broke some ribs due to a car acciden
“Fucking scumbag.” Alexander cuss and elbowed the Italian gangster on his jaw. He let out an excruciating pain, but he still lunges again, obviously ready for another fight. Just as his fist clenched and was ready to punch him in the face, Alexander grabbed his fist halfway and rather lands two punches on both sides of his cheek: his head whipped to the side with thick blood spitting out from his mouth. He staggered and just a little kick from Alexander at the back of his knee was enough to make his knee grease the earth. Alexander grabbed his collar and pulled down the mask on his face. Although it was nighttime but through the dim light coming from the moon, it was enough for him to acknowledge the fact that he hasn't met such fucked up smashed face before. “Who the fuck are you? Who the heck sent you?” He asked, and just then, the assassin forcefully swarts Alexander's hands from his collar, and with every willpower in him, pushed him and staggered-ran into the dark.Alexander had
“Ava. Your wife. After all, she's the reason for all this mess you are going through.” When he mentioned Ava's name, Alexander's brows rise in disgust as he mentally rolls his eyes. Subconsciously, his mind drifted back to what happened earlier. Hell yeah. He is fully aware that this wasn't the right time to think about that, especially when some Italian assholes were after him… but he just can't help it. Back then, he had made her believe that whatever he did back then was under the influence of alcohol. And he still can't believe that this same excuse was coming from him who had only drunk half a glass of cocktail—even if he'd drank half a bottle of tequila, he doubts if he would get intoxicated by it. Due to the nature of his job which requires him to be always vigilant, he hardly gets drunk, regardless of what he was drinking. His confidence, his audacity, and his possessiveness weren't ordinary. What exactly was he on? Did he get drugged? Ever since they got married, they had al
A continuous knocking sound on the door had jerked Ava out of her sleep. She groaned frustratedly and almost cursed at whoever was behind the door. Yesterday had been very eventful to say the very least. The heavens could bear witness that she hadn't slept all night. She had spent most of the time she should have been sleeping, curling and turning in her bed then groaning, screaming, and kicking her pillows off the bed, begging the God of the earth to turn back the hands of time on her behalf—she definitely wouldn't disappoint him the second time. Sincerely, she had never thought that a mere incident could possibly deprive her of the sleep she had never for once been deprived of. She had spent the whole night replaying each stupid thing she had done and even the slightest of all mistakes that took place just a couple of hours ago. It was the consequences of everything she had let him do to her, and the consequences of succumbing to his every touch. After having to deal with the punish
She wandered thoughtfully in her room, debating on what to do with her hair and face for the ball party. She knew she was terrible at doing makeup as she hasn't had one done before—and she doesn't need to make any attempt before realizing that. It's been days since she last set her eyes on John and just the thought that she could see him again after not setting her eyes on him for a long time made her feel the movements of the jubilating butterflies in her stomach. It was a once-in-a-blue-moon opportunity and with this opportunity she had gotten, she would want to make the best out of it by looking good for him. But as much as she wanted to look good for him, all hope was shattered when she remembered she had no makeup kit. She could just let her hair down and wear the cloth Alexander had gotten for her. After all, being natural has its beauty… A knock on the door disrupted her scheming thoughts. She walked over to the door and opened it, only to come face to face with another expre
“No, I don't, but, I will do it anyway.”Although Alexander could see the unwavering strong determination in her eyes, he knew she had not even the slightest idea of the decision she has come to make—she had absolutely no idea of the risk she would endanger herself if she becomes the seductress, and he also wasn't willing to put her life in danger.Ava was not bad either. Her perfect face and curves could drive any man insane; hence, she was even more fit for this job judging from her physical appearance, but, the mafia was what he knew he could not push Ava in knowing fully well of the repercussions that might follow suit – knowing fully well of what those lust burning Italian men were capable of.Unfortunately, he was stuck between two terrible options: Felicia and Ava.Just like she said, her 'terms of service' was what he knew he could not offer, and knowing fully well of the personality Felicia bares, she would go to any length to have him in her pant before accepting this task.
They both had one thing in common anyway—an impulsive behavior. They were all now in a triangle, circulating in the same spot with no way out. Alexander found it interesting though. Seeing John a little nervous was an honor he deserved after dealing with his hardheadedness for some time. Felicia had a loud mouth and judging from how she had stood confidently in front of him, she was ready to drag the argument until she was given the honor as the winner—until she had dragged him through the mud and exposed the bad reputation hidden beneath the good reputation he had presented before Ava. If they both had a terrible past, wasn't it as simple as ignoring her the same way she'd ignored him? But no! The insanity in him decides to spring forth through his 'act-before-thinking' head. He had made a mistake—a mistake he couldn't amend, especially when Felicia was involved, and the aftermath of his mistake, he obviously wasn't ready for it. It had hit him so unexpectedly, taking a different
“What has that got to do with you?” He finally replied after his long-lasting battling thoughts – his words sounding sharp as If, putting all his annoyance in just that few lines of words. “If she is your wife, then…” Melissa laughed lightly and continued, “your life is fucked up!” She had said it so casually, but it had unleashed another meaning in his head. What if she had seen his stupidity revolving around his decision? What if she had seen the lunacy laced behind his decision? Then she must have called him stupid right in his face – everyone who knew the story had called him stupid, but at the end of the day, he found himself, dwelling, sinking, and even making more wrong decisions as the day goes by without thinking of the aftermath, and the reason for his wrongs decisions wasn't worth it. And that was what annoyed him even more.At that point, he was thinking beyond the ordinary, beyond what was happening at the moment, and even as his jaw clenched, and he could almost feel h
Who the fuck invited Felicia to the ball party? He thought the drama had already begun without realizing that it was just getting started. As he stared down at her, he noticed as her grin began to grow even wider until it was almost reaching her ears.Felicia was here, and her presence alone could cause the things he has been avoiding the whole night – chaos, conflict, dispute, and unnecessary attention. Felicia was in the room, she seems to draw attention wherever she went by causing chaos and judging from the huge grin on her face, she was there to fulfill his last wish. She was there to make him regret the decision of attending the ball party in the first place. He had regrets already, but Felicia would top it up.“Not now Felicia. Will you get the hell out of my way?” He began speaking just in time, even though he was fully aware that it does nothing to help the situation. Nonetheless, he needed to do something—say anything to get her away. And as his gaze flickered back to John a
Seconds felt like minutes and minutes felt like hours, but still, known of them said a word to themselves. Everything seems to have an abrupt stop for Ava as it felt like they were the only ones left on the dance floor. An intense silence clouded the dip atmosphere around them. No doubt, her happiness knew no bounds the moment she set her eyes on John, but she got stunned cause it never crossed her mind that they would cross paths in this approach. Yes! Alexander had earlier informed her of their coming, but how she had managed to forget such big news was what she can't comprehend. Her gaze traded down to John's hands, which were firmly wrapped around her sister's waist: Wanita, and she felt… jealous. The thing with those two people was something she can't wrap her head around and since she hasn't seen them for a long time, she didn't know how to begin—what to say, or what to do. How dumb she was. She was so excited about meeting John at the ball party, but the moment she set her ey
“We can talk about that later,” Alexander said and extended his hands toward him for a handshake. Mr. Giovanni received it and replied sternly, “with positive feedback.” Alexander only nodded his head and pulled Ava, leading her into the dance floor. “Stupid piece of shit!” He cussed under his breath after he had walked some miles away from Mr. Giovanni. A collection of Violinists, harp players, and pianists were placed at the far end of the hall and as the music came to a brief pause, Alexander offered out his hand. Ava realized what he wanted and not wanting to argue with him, at least, for once, she received it gracefully. “I have absolutely no idea why I am here with you on the dance floor, but I think you should know that I haven't been on a dance floor before.” Alexander only smirked and replied with, “I know,” before taking her hands and placing them on his shoulders and his, on her waist. As he guided their steps and her waist to the slow, sweet melody drifting through th
They arrived hand-in-hand amid the dozen of guests after Alexander had pulled her roughly, yet gently, out of the car. He was still mad, mad for no exact reason.Everyone at the party wore a new dress or suit, as the majority were dressed according to what she noticed was the color of the day: silver. There was not even a single doubt in Ava's mind that the guest and general setting of the ball party were for those of the higher class most especially the men who were cooperatively dressed in suits as if they were businessmen and the gathering in general, was significantly made for business cooperation. The disco balls brought forth various color reflections on the floor, which, however, brought out another level of beauty to the interior design from the regular days.As much as the majority of guests were busy exchanging greetings on the ground path, she could already feel the tension of lust-burning eyes on her; specifically, from the men. And the same goes for Alexander; lust-burnin
They were all like three broken records, neither of them willing to say a word after she had spoken. She said the last words known of them must have expected, thereby, erasing every word they ought to have said from their memories. Not that she regretted what she said since she was only trying to stand her ground in front of Ashley, but… she needs—sincerely needs to think before saying a word. Every day, she found herself saying things that at the end of the day, she'd wish to hide in a hole. As much as she was trying to stand her ground, those words shouldn't be coming from her, regardless of the situation. If she had said it behind his back, it would have been less embarrassing – but saying it to his hearing was another level of embarrassment. She requires a moment to remind herself that she was in a forced marriage and not some sought of happily-ever-after marriage. She silently prayed that, at least, someone should say something. Someone should say something and make them forget
Ava took a threatening step forward, making sure she got way too close on purpose. The tip of her nose barely touched that of Ashley's. She watched intently as Ashley tilted her head towards her, a dark smirk lifting unto the corner of her lips.Ashley was there to make her feel inferior—to make her understand that she wasn't fit to be the wife of the hottest guy in the city. Ava knew this – she could tell that Ashley was jealous of the fact that she was Alexander's wife, whereas, she should have been the one bearing Alexander's last name. Unfortunately, she wasn't that lucky. Ava was ready to defend her integrity. To let her know that she was far better to be Alexander's wife. This was a forced marriage, but the whole girls in the city made it feel like she was the luckiest girl in the world to be married to Alexander. She was ready to counter back but then, her short feminine self has nothing to do with appearing fierce compared to Ashley's overshadowing presence, nevertheless, she
