Chapter -13: My peace is going to live short

‘I was seven years old again living in the foster home, small and vulnerable, surrounded by the older children who had taken a sadistic pleasure in tormenting me. Their faces were twisted with cruel delight, their eyes gleaming with malice.

“Look who we have here,” one of them sneered, his voice dripping with contempt. “The little princess thinks she can hide from us.”

Before I could react, a strong hand grabbed the nape of my neck, yanking me forward with a jolt of pain. My heart raced as panic surged through me. I tried to struggle, but another pair of hands gripped my wrists, wrenching them painfully behind my back, immobilising me completely.

“Please,” I whimpered, my voice barely a whisper. “Please, let me go.”

“Shut up!” another kid barked, shoving my head towards a large, rusted metal drum filled with murky water. “Time for your bath.”
