Jonathan’s story
I was already in front of her and I saw no trace of remorse or regret. Her eyes expressed so much hatred that it was impossible for me to make eye contact without frightening me. This woman's mind was so evil and twisted that even ten sessions of hypnosis would not have been enough to reveal all that she had done; how many people caused them pain; how many souls she send to the other world.
I lined up on the table everything I had under her indifferent eyes of what was happening. The handcuffs had already left marks on her wrists. In fact, I don't even care if she had any physical pain; certainly, the psychological side did not. Only when she heard her name did the psychological blackmail begin.
Miron's storyI tried to resist and stay behind the window but Sarah's comment brought me to the point where my patience was finished. The next second I slammed the door against the wall and rushed at them, and with murderous glances, I stared at the beast in front of me sitting nonchalantly on the chair. Johnatan immediately jumped up and grabbed my arm, pulling me one step back. If he didn't react I would have gone directly to Sarah's throat, and God knew what might have happened.Miron, take it, easy man! You know she says that to annoy us. She won't be able to do anything behind bars and you know it.Oh, if it's not the great Miron Hauser… literally. I haven't seen you in a while. What else have you been doing, my frie
Miron's storyJohnatan was right, no more than a week passed and we already had Sarah's summon to appear at the trial. Today was an important day for me too. Rita has completely moved in with me and we were living the most wonderful love story ever. We were so close to fulfilling our dream; that of getting rid of the one that marked our lives for good. Our son was growing every day and Rita was becoming more and more beautiful. My love, how happy I am to be back here with you. I remembered something and I am going to tell you.Wow, it starts to sound interesting.Hmm, do you remember when I still couldn't see but Annabelle helped me come to the poo
Miron's story The prosecutor seemed to have everything under control. The table was full of files and photos all related to our case. In most of the photos were our evidence photographed from all possible angles. It was shocking to look at them, but the prosecutor probably needed them as evidence in the case. The baseball bat, Carmen's scarf, tape recorders, pictures of even Sarah's dirty bloody T-shirt from the moment she killed Lucy, Rita's mother. They all connected in perfect harmony. That T-shirt was one of the new things the prosecutor found. Michael searched the old Johnson family's house with a warrant and found several pieces of evidence including this T-shirt built into a plastic bag in the west wall of her room. Again, the plastic bag saved evidence that we could use. That T-shirt was photog
Rita's storyJust as I had told Miron, I decided to pay a visit to my friends Gloria and Paul. They went to see me in the hospital but we couldn't talk because they wouldn't let anyone else in but Miron. This was because they thought they would do no more harm than good to my condition. And to be honest, I really missed them, Gloria's coffee, and Paul's jokes. I missed everyone in my life when I was abducted and kept in those inhumane conditions.I caught Gloria in the garden taking care of the wonderful flowers I missed so much. When she saw me, the bouquet of roses that she was probably preparing to put in a vase in the house fell from her hand directly on the ground warmed by the timid rays of the sun. My favorite season was about to begin, summer.Rita, my dear Rita. How ha
Miron's storyWe were ready! Everything was well set up and the prosecutor arranged his last documents in his briefcase. He knew the lawyer appointed to defend Sarah very well. He said that the lawyer could only make a good defense if he thinks Sarah was indeed innocent. That was not the case here. The evidence was far too advanced and true, but he had to do his job.So I decided to observe everything from the shadows. Rita was also preparing to go to court. The big day had arrived; the day when Sarah will begin to pay for every crime of hers, every tear of those she left in pain and longing for their loved ones. Every sleepless night they had due to the nightmare she had created.Honey, do you know if citations were sent to Gloria and Paul as well?
Miron's story Sarah's audacity was unacceptable. But soon she would be overwhelmed and we would live a quiet life. We deserved to be happy and leave with each other without fear. The jurors were from various fields, they were twenty. This group of citizens is empowered by law to conduct legal proceedings, investigate potential criminal conduct, and determine whether criminal charges should be brought. In Sarah Johnson's case, all the charges were valid. It was only a matter of time before she was imprisoned. It should be noted then that the State vs. Sarah Johnson's trial will now begin. Counselor, you may speak now!Thank you, your honor. I will s
Miron's storyThe first day in court was a chaotic one and although we didn't talk that much we understood that it won't be so easy for us to breakthrough. If Sarah's lawyer invoked madness, she could spend the rest of her life in a psychiatric unit instead of prison. Which wouldn't be right. Michael assured us that this would not happen on the grounds that our evidence was overwhelming and no jury would overlook it. However, Rita was also rightly worried.Miron, you know that I'm not ok with what I heard yesterday. I hope that today things will take a turn in our favor.Definitely yes, Rita, don't be afraid, please. Today is your day and I am convinced that you will have no difficulty in convincing the jurors of the ordeal you have be
Miron's storyRita was already late in answering. Maybe she realized the lawyer's clever move too, but being under oath she couldn't lie. Nevertheless, Rita was always telling the truth. The jurors were watching and listening, especially the one in the left corner.Miss Sinclair? Shall I repeat the question?Oh, no, no need, I'm sorry... Sarah, as a child, was a normal one like any other child except she always took the initiative. She was... casual and independent, so to speak. She was sociable but as far as I know, she had family problems. What kind of problems?
Miron's story After one year… Hey, Noah, look what Daddy has here. Your favorite toy. Let's see where Mommy is. Rita was in the small garden she had set up in our backyard right next to the pool. She loved to grow and care for flowers. She had roses of all colors, peonies, and many tulips. She adored them and it seemed like little Noah too because since he saw her he started moving his little hands and feet. He was adorable. Let's see what Mommy is doing here. Rita was bent over the peonies and I intentionally pushed her a little and she fell on the wet ground. Noah began to laugh so hard with his tiny mouth that I was beg
Miron's storyToday Sarah was going to have a big surprise. The court had summoned her brother to testify. And besides, there's a second T-shirt sprinkled with Jenna's blood. Jack led us to it and from there to its analysis and the establishment that it belonged to Sarah was just one step.People were resuming their seats on the benches. The atmosphere, I didn't know why it was tenser. Maybe because the weather was darker outside. It wasn't long before Sarah was brought in and we then heard the echo of the bailiff's voice. All rise! The honorable judge Stone! We all rose as we always did. The feeling was still strange. Something was going to happen today, I was more and more sure of it. Even Michael mentioned to me that
Miron's storyJohn Maxwell came frightened through the benches right to the witness box, looking in all directions as if waiting for something to happen to him. I was really sorry to know him like that, to look at him and see that he has no defense. The fear was also that he had not seen the light of day in years, the taste of freedom probably since he entered that hospital. Of course, there were walks in the hospital yard but it was not the same.Like scared, he took the oath and took his seat. Again the defense had no questions. I can say that we were lucky that the lawyer didn't know the people and thus the time was shortened and it could only be in our favor.John, please tell us, who you are most afraid of?
Miron's storyAnd so the first bomb fell. We all watched Mandy dance with the baseball bat as if it were the most normal thing in the world. And that T-shirt that was presented and accepted as evidence in the file, was all my delight. From time to time I looked at Sarah, who could no longer find her seat in the chair next to her lawyer. I could say with all my heart that it was the final blow given to this criminal. The orthopedist managed to convince everyone that Sarah at the age of adolescence could easily have handled that bat and I would go even further and say that he also convinced the jurors. Their grimaces suggested many things and not exactly in favor of the defendant.Yesterday seemed to pass just as fast and today it was Father Maxwell’s turn to give statements. He had been summoned two days ago. The momen
Miron's storyThe whole room was already silent and everyone was waiting for Michael's answer. The answer was delayed but maybe he was preparing his ground. That was exactly what he did. He turned on one foot facing the jurors and then to the judge and with a sigh announced the expert's entry.Your Honor, I contradict the lawyer's words, and not only me but also the orthopedic doctor William Dale, also an occasional baseball player, in his free time but enough to tell us how things are. I know it was not quoted but I could not prove otherwise that the bat can be easily handled by a 15-year-old child.
Miron's storySarah's lawyer smashed Darla with the last question, but now it was Michael's turn and I knew he would calm her down. Then followed that indisputable evidence that even the jurors could not ignore. Sarah will definitely have a surprise.Michael had already been invited to question the witness. Darla was a little calmer.Miss Darla, please tell us, what did you see from the yard of your house, being next door to the defendant? That they always have quarrels and Bob almost all the time insulted his wife, including his children.Who is Bob? And how would you describe him?
Miron's storyThe days started to go by so fast that we don't even have time to breathe. Today, Rita's aunt, Darla, was called to the witness box. She came to us first. I offered to come and get her, but she refused. It was clear that she was nervous, but she would have to get over it and tell Sarah's relationship with both her parents and her sister, Lucy, in great detail. But she was very happy when she saw Rita again. They hadn't seen each other in years so they cried and hugged for minutes. They talked about Lucy, how much she loved life and how much she loved Rita. It's just that fate has been very hostile to them.Miron, Rita, I'm scared! It hurts so much to talk about Lucy that I'm afraid of making a mistake.
Miron's storyYesterday passed quickly. As we had agreed, we cooked together and fell asleep faster than we expected. Rita was really tired but they didn't need her today, so she just accompanied me. I still tried to get her to stay home to rest but she flatly and elegantly refused me.Love, my place is next to you for better or worse. I promise if I start to feel unwell I'll ask Peter to bring me home.Okay, I'll take your word for it. Shall we go?Let's go.It didn't take us ten minutes to get to court. Michael, as usual, was waiting for us in the hall. We were invited in and the same protocol
Rita's storyThe prosecutor's questions hurt me extremely, but I knew I had to answer them. That's the only way I could punish Sarah. It was cruel to remember everything I went through in that warehouse and then to all the places Sarah carried me over but if that was the only way to put her behind bars then I had little choice. Even the baby had become agitated. Instinctively I put my hand on my belly as if wanting to protect him. I kind of guessed what questions would follow.Do we understand, Miss Sinclair, that the defendant here kidnapped your mother and confessed to killing her?Objection! He is misleading the witness!
