Rita’s story
Remembering that name was like a revelation. I almost forgot of this man’s existence. From the moment I suspect that he did something that Miron and I had that ugly fight I can’t stand him.
Rita’s storyThe next morning I found myself chained instead of tied up as usual. I tried to move my hands a bit but it was impossible. The chain was actually digging into my skin leaving wounds hard to look at. I wonder when and how Sarah did that. And how come I did not feel that? I looked at Belle on the other chair. She was like into a deep sleep. I wasn’t feeling good myself either. I felt like I was dizzy. - Belle? Hey, Belle, wake up!But there was no answer and I was beginning to be afraid. What if she was dead? And what is that smell? Was like…chloroform? And besides, how do I know how chloroform smells? Is part of my memory coming back? I hope so because living in this hole is like walk into a dark night knowing you can physically see but you struggle to adjust your eyes to that dark. Was there any possibility that I had something to do with this chloroform? Finally Belle was giving signs of waking up. Slowly but she was. - Oh my God Belle, you are alive
Rita’s story Peter’s turnAnother two days without any important happenings. Only Belle was here to take care of me. I have food at my discretion now. Someone wants me to be healthy. And if it is Adam I have to know and eventually speak to him. Maybe I can turn these odds in my favor. Belle was resting now but close to my foot; in case Sarah storms in she asked to hit her hard so she could wake up. This crazy woman is keeping Belle awake day and night to watch over me. And so the door slammed and I hit Belle so hard that she jumped out of the chair.- Is everything all right ladies?- Everything is fine Sarah, why wouldn’t it be?- Well, doesn’t matter, today is a very interesting day. It is Peter’s turn.- Peter’s turn in what? The question just slipped from my lips, I kind of knew the answer but it was a reflex.- Look at poor Rita she wants to know what is going to happen to Peter. Why do you care? You don’t even know the man that go
Rita’s storyI am so sick and tired of this house, most of all now being pregnant. My morning nausea is not gone yet and I struggle to survive. Belle helps me but I miss the sun, the air, I miss my walks, and especially I miss my Miron. Sometimes I wonder what could this happen to me? I don’t have any weapons to defend myself only my sharp mind and the feeling of relief that Sarah is not going to kill me…yet. Belle left this morning making some errands but she said she would be back soon, just before Sarah realizes she was missing. I didn’t stay too much alone, as Annabelle returned quicker than I thought. - Your back!- I am and I bring news. I went to see Adam Oakland.- Really? But you said that maybe is not such a good idea? What made you change your mind?- You did. After we had that conversation yesterday I figured that you deserve to know who is on your side and who is not. And besides this is no place for you or the baby. You have to go to
Sarah’s storyFor the first time in years Sarah is thinking to go back to her village; the same one that grew her up, which is supposed to have taught her the basic moral values. These values are completely lacking and for that matter, she did many of her horrible things. Now is she may be looking for redemption or there is something much darker going on?- Belle I am going to say my goodbyes and I shall leave you in charge of all the operation.- Don’t you worry I will keep an eye on everything, especially on her.Belle fixed Rita so intensely leaving her the impression that she changed for the worst. But all she did was a cover-up to maintain appearances. Clever Belle!- I am glad we are on the same page here. She must not getaway. She couldn’t with how weak she is but nevertheless, don’t lose sight of her.- Never! When will you be back?Sarah motioned Belle to follow her in the kitchen. For sure it was a discussion that she didn’t want Rita to ov
Rita’s storyI have been waiting anxiously for Belle to come back; whether she managed to talk to Miron on time and if he left for Bibury. I hate Sarah so much. If intuition does not deceive me, that woman is in real danger. I just hope Miron will be there on time to save her. I barely finished my thoughts when Belle rushed through the door.- It is done. I have talked to him and he is on his way to Bibury. So relax, he is not going to let anything bad happen to her.- Thank God you found him home. You cannot walk everywhere. Someone might see you and tells Sarah. I bet she has a lot of spies.- You are actually right Rita, I haven’t thought that far.I am very sure that Sarah has her own people in the city. She is also dangerous and very well guarded. I wouldn’t be surprised if one-day armed men would storm in here threatening poor Belle. She has to be very careful. - I have another surprise for you, Rita.- Surprise? It is so unusual to
Rita’s storySuddenly it felt like I am not from this world. I was floating in a sea of lies and uncertainties and there was no one near me to bring me to surface. I was sinking deeper and deeper in this abyss and I just couldn’t see a way out of this. It hurts damn hard to put your hopes and dreams into a person that promised you to help and in the end that person pulls out the biggest knife and sticks it hard into your heart. - So I fainted and Myron came and he misunderstood all this. What did you do to me? How did Miron find us? Now I can relate his anger and his sadness at the same time. Poor Miron…- Oh, don’t think that far away. We were just on your couch embraced, with me facing the door so he could not see your closed eyes. He got in, saw us, and got out, with a little tiny difference, he was fuming.- You sick bastard! The next second he rushed at me, but Belle stopped him in time. With his hands almost at my throat, I was lucky with Belle as I
Sarah’s storySarah frightened so much Carmen that she didn’t even know who took her from her home. Being mentally unstable her mind blocked her memories due to the fear Sarah instilled in her mother. Not even Sarah is whole-minded for coming all the way to Bibury with the single purpose to torture the human being that brought her in this world. - Who are you and what do you want from me?That was like begging the question, a way out of this misery Sarah brought her mother. - Oh, don’t tell me you don’t recognize me. It is me, Sarah.- Sarah? I am sorry…- But of course, you don’t remember. Your weakness with which you raised me and my brother has left its mark on all of our lives. And now it is so comfy for you to don’t remember? No, I shall make you remember then.Suddenly she jerked her hand a pushed her onto the bed. They were in a deserted cottage near the woods Sarah used to know and play during childhood; maybe even retreat when life became
Miron’s storySometimes is also hard even for me to believe that I am telling this about Belle. She used to be one of my best friends, then I realized she had a lot to do in Rita’s disappearance and now she regretted and tried to settle things the way they were. - Are you telling me that this Annabelle had the nerve to plan such a diabolical plan and then she changed her mind? Is that what you are trying to imply Miron?- That is exactly what I am saying. In the beginning I was so pissed off and then sad because I couldn’t understand why she would do such a thing and in the end I got used to the idea and tried to save Rita on my own. - Did Sarah threaten you?- Of course, no police involved or Rita dies. But right out of nowhere Belle called but I didn’t want to listen. Imagine how could I? I had no way of knowing she switched sides. So I decided to give a last chance.- Well I wouldn’t have.- I understand, but what choice did I
Miron's story After one year… Hey, Noah, look what Daddy has here. Your favorite toy. Let's see where Mommy is. Rita was in the small garden she had set up in our backyard right next to the pool. She loved to grow and care for flowers. She had roses of all colors, peonies, and many tulips. She adored them and it seemed like little Noah too because since he saw her he started moving his little hands and feet. He was adorable. Let's see what Mommy is doing here. Rita was bent over the peonies and I intentionally pushed her a little and she fell on the wet ground. Noah began to laugh so hard with his tiny mouth that I was beg
Miron's storyToday Sarah was going to have a big surprise. The court had summoned her brother to testify. And besides, there's a second T-shirt sprinkled with Jenna's blood. Jack led us to it and from there to its analysis and the establishment that it belonged to Sarah was just one step.People were resuming their seats on the benches. The atmosphere, I didn't know why it was tenser. Maybe because the weather was darker outside. It wasn't long before Sarah was brought in and we then heard the echo of the bailiff's voice. All rise! The honorable judge Stone! We all rose as we always did. The feeling was still strange. Something was going to happen today, I was more and more sure of it. Even Michael mentioned to me that
Miron's storyJohn Maxwell came frightened through the benches right to the witness box, looking in all directions as if waiting for something to happen to him. I was really sorry to know him like that, to look at him and see that he has no defense. The fear was also that he had not seen the light of day in years, the taste of freedom probably since he entered that hospital. Of course, there were walks in the hospital yard but it was not the same.Like scared, he took the oath and took his seat. Again the defense had no questions. I can say that we were lucky that the lawyer didn't know the people and thus the time was shortened and it could only be in our favor.John, please tell us, who you are most afraid of?
Miron's storyAnd so the first bomb fell. We all watched Mandy dance with the baseball bat as if it were the most normal thing in the world. And that T-shirt that was presented and accepted as evidence in the file, was all my delight. From time to time I looked at Sarah, who could no longer find her seat in the chair next to her lawyer. I could say with all my heart that it was the final blow given to this criminal. The orthopedist managed to convince everyone that Sarah at the age of adolescence could easily have handled that bat and I would go even further and say that he also convinced the jurors. Their grimaces suggested many things and not exactly in favor of the defendant.Yesterday seemed to pass just as fast and today it was Father Maxwell’s turn to give statements. He had been summoned two days ago. The momen
Miron's storyThe whole room was already silent and everyone was waiting for Michael's answer. The answer was delayed but maybe he was preparing his ground. That was exactly what he did. He turned on one foot facing the jurors and then to the judge and with a sigh announced the expert's entry.Your Honor, I contradict the lawyer's words, and not only me but also the orthopedic doctor William Dale, also an occasional baseball player, in his free time but enough to tell us how things are. I know it was not quoted but I could not prove otherwise that the bat can be easily handled by a 15-year-old child.
Miron's storySarah's lawyer smashed Darla with the last question, but now it was Michael's turn and I knew he would calm her down. Then followed that indisputable evidence that even the jurors could not ignore. Sarah will definitely have a surprise.Michael had already been invited to question the witness. Darla was a little calmer.Miss Darla, please tell us, what did you see from the yard of your house, being next door to the defendant? That they always have quarrels and Bob almost all the time insulted his wife, including his children.Who is Bob? And how would you describe him?
Miron's storyThe days started to go by so fast that we don't even have time to breathe. Today, Rita's aunt, Darla, was called to the witness box. She came to us first. I offered to come and get her, but she refused. It was clear that she was nervous, but she would have to get over it and tell Sarah's relationship with both her parents and her sister, Lucy, in great detail. But she was very happy when she saw Rita again. They hadn't seen each other in years so they cried and hugged for minutes. They talked about Lucy, how much she loved life and how much she loved Rita. It's just that fate has been very hostile to them.Miron, Rita, I'm scared! It hurts so much to talk about Lucy that I'm afraid of making a mistake.
Miron's storyYesterday passed quickly. As we had agreed, we cooked together and fell asleep faster than we expected. Rita was really tired but they didn't need her today, so she just accompanied me. I still tried to get her to stay home to rest but she flatly and elegantly refused me.Love, my place is next to you for better or worse. I promise if I start to feel unwell I'll ask Peter to bring me home.Okay, I'll take your word for it. Shall we go?Let's go.It didn't take us ten minutes to get to court. Michael, as usual, was waiting for us in the hall. We were invited in and the same protocol
Rita's storyThe prosecutor's questions hurt me extremely, but I knew I had to answer them. That's the only way I could punish Sarah. It was cruel to remember everything I went through in that warehouse and then to all the places Sarah carried me over but if that was the only way to put her behind bars then I had little choice. Even the baby had become agitated. Instinctively I put my hand on my belly as if wanting to protect him. I kind of guessed what questions would follow.Do we understand, Miss Sinclair, that the defendant here kidnapped your mother and confessed to killing her?Objection! He is misleading the witness!
