Aryan waited in his car for Adele, but she did not come out. He kept waiting for over ten minutes and wondered what was keeping her.

After a while, he began to honk, but she still did not come out. He took out his phone to call her, but then he saw her standing close to the main road. She was trying to help a little girl cross the road.

The girl seemed to be about three. He couldn't see Adele's face because she had her back to him but he could tell she was the one from her clothes and stature.

He began to wonder how she came out of the house without his notice. Perhaps she had used the back, and he did not observe because he was inside his car.

He kept staring at her back and smiling; she looked so adorable while holding the little girl's hand. The baby, however, was crying, but he couldn't understand why.

He saw Adele looking both to her right and left and realized that she wanted to help the child cross the road. Wow, she was really such a nice person. If anything, this was eno

Adele stood there, wondering what went wrong. She checked her time and realized that she had slept off for about twenty minutes. But how could he be upset that she did that? It wasn't enough reason for him to leave. He should have just listened to what happened. She also could not understand how she slept off at such a time when she had been so excited to go on a date with him. She began walking back to the house slowly while trying not to cry. She saw her father who was standing by the door. "What happened?" he asked. "I don't know," she replied. "Aryan just drove off." He shook his head. "You're so worthless. What a waste of time!" As he went into her room, she lay on her bed and began to cry. She picked up her phone and dialed Aryan's number, but he kept hanging up on her. She kept calling until she got tired. Meanwhile, Selene and her dad sat in her room laughing. "Wow, I can't believe I pulled that off, Dad. It was risky though. I'm happy nothing happened to the child."

ARYANI stared at Adele as she tried to come up with an excuse. I knew she was going to lie to me. And when a fellow student came up and slapped her, I wasn't surprised. She had disappointed even me, so what did she have to say? Right at that moment, Selene came up to me and kissed me. She took me by surprise, but then I recalled that I was also her mate and couldn't treat her discriminately, especially because people were watching. I kissed her back and she smiled."Hi, Selene. It's been a while," I said. "I miss you so much," she replied."I was just about to leave now," I said as I turned away from Adele's view. Selene held my hand and said, "Hold on, Aryan. Let's go together. I have a lot to say to you."I looked briefly and noticed that Adele was still staring at me. I could see that her eyes had become misty at this point. However, I ignored the uncomfortable feeling it gave me and said to Selene, "Sure, let's go together." She got into my car and sat in the passenger seat. I

SELENEMy first date with Aryan turned out to be a flop. Despite how hard I tried to pretend that I wasn't upset about it, my face gave me away. I was very angry. Seeing Adele's ex friend, Diana made me even more upset. I hated her so much. I hated her friendship with Adele and how much they loved each other which was why I went to great lengths to make sure I ruined it. However, the foolish girl still had so much faith in Adele. For some stupid reason, she thought she was having a secret conversation with Aryan but I heard everything they said and it hurt me so much. I knew Aryan was being swayed. What I still could not understand was why he liked Adele nonetheless. I was more beautiful than her and everyone else liked me. I was much better than Adele, so why? Why did Aryan feel more attached to her than to me? Even while he was on a date with me, he seemed distracted. I knew it was unplanned and now I regretted that I agreed to go on this date because Aryan might not consent to h

ADELEI could not believe that Aryan was in the cafe' with me. After he left with Selene, I felt so hurt that I couldn't bear it. Considering how much he ignored my messages, I didn't think he would turn up at the cafe'. But here he was. I was very happy to see him, but the look on his face was different. Even when I kissed him, I did not get the reaction I was hoping for. I pulled away and stared at him as tears fell from my eyes."Please tell me, Aryan, why are you upset with me?" I asked. "Is it because I slept off? What really happened? Please tell me."Aryan sighed. "Are you really telling me that you have no idea about what happened? You don't remember what you did?""I didn't do anything," I said. "Listen, I already explained what happened to me but..." Alright, fine." Aryan cut me off. He went ahead and told me everything that happened with the baby and how I supposedly pushed her onto the road with the intention of letting a car run her over.My eyes widened in surprise. "O

ARYANIt was hard but I knew that it was important for me to put some distance between me and Adele. It was more important for me to figure out what was going on before indulging in my feelings for her or giving her the opportunity to get too close to me. This was why I told her that we should take everything slow.I walked out of the cafe, got into my car, and was about to drive away when I sighted another car not too far from the cafe. I didn't know if it was someone dangerous and if they were here for Adele, and I didn't want to create a scene or raise any alarms. I was worried about Adele, but since she had insisted on staying behind and going back home the next day, I had no choice but to spend the night in my car. However, I didn't want Adele to know, so she wouldn't feel overconfident.I drove a little distance away from the cafe', but from where I parked my car, I had a good view of the cafe. This way, I could tell if anyone went in or came out. I spent the night keeping watch

SELENEI came out of the bathroom in the morning and caught Adele in my room, and I lost it. I yelled at her because she had been warned several times by me not to step foot in my room. Without saying a word to me, she hurriedly left, which made me more suspicious. I began to wonder what she could have seen. She was standing by my closet. Did that mean she saw her type of clothes, which were hidden? She seemed to have developed some wings ever since Aryan began to give her his attention.I quickly got dressed and came out of my room. I stood by the door of her room and began to listen to whatever she was doing in her locked room. I overheard her conversation with Diana. She said, "I have something important to tell you, and I'm coming to your house right away." The moment I heard that, I became convinced that she had seen the clothes I hid in my room. This was going to be a huge problem.I went back into my room, pacing up and down as I thought about what to do. My dad had gone to w

When Adele and Diana arrived at the café, Mrs. Harold looked at them in surprise, "Shouldn't you two be in school? What are you both doing here?" Adele smiled and, "Thanks, Mrs. Harold. Trust me, I can never joke with my education, and neither will Diana. It's just that something important has come up, and I figured it's important to share it with you.""Alright then, go ahead," Mrs. Harold replied. Diana turned on her camera and began to take a video as Adele explained everything to Mrs. Harold. Mrs. Harold shook her head and said, "So it was Selene all along. Interesting. To be honest, I always had the feeling it was her but accusing her without concrete proof is the same as saying you're guilty of everything you've been accused of. I always felt it was Selene because if anyone has a motive, it's her."Adele sighed, "I also suspected Selene so many times, but there were a few times certain things didn't add up. • Against All Odds   ONE MONTH LATER

ZAANWe stood—all four of us—at the edge of the cliff; Me, Walker, Zander, and Rey. The past month had been rough initially, but it turned out to be eventful. At first, breathing the same air as Rey seemed impossible, given her ill intentions toward us from the start. However, witnessing her genuine efforts to please everyone and seeing the happiness she brought to my brother, I decided to let go of my resentment and be free. However, that did not mean I would turn my back on her. I remained wary, just as I would be with any untrustworthy person. My mom had also become more accommodating. She occasionally smiled at Rey and engaged in conversations, but I knew her watchful eyes never left her. Rey was aware of it too. The pack had come to accept that she was likely to be the next Luna. She was my brother's love, and thanks to her, he had become more lively, socializing more and spending less time sleeping.Carter had also changed since his fight with Walker. Realizing he was no matc

Perhaps these were enemies who had been lying in wait for me.Over the years, a few had actually attempted to come against us, but they always waited along the roads. So either these were sent by someone who knew that I was leaving, or they had been keeping watch over us.It was an attack, and the fact that they were using arrows meant they were werewolves. As I stared at Rey, I was upset that they did not mind that she was one of their own. Perhaps they saw her as a worthy sacrifice for a great cause, but I wasn't one to let go so easily.I came out of hiding as more arrows were shot at me. I jumped, and all the arrows passed below me. Afterward, I began to crawl on the ground.Seeing I had gotten close, the men who were earlier shooting; who were now close to me but could not see me because I was concealed by the bushes, turned around and wan

WALKERI knew that Carter was going to confront Zaan, and I wasn't wrong. It was better he found out the truth. That way, he would back off and know his place. It was funny hearing him talk about how Zaan was his mate when I had just marked her the night before. If not for the promise I made to Zaan, I would have shown off in front of him. He stomped away angrily, and I walked after him. But I kept a little distance between us. I stood somewhere, watching as he confronted Zaan, and I heard the words he said to her. I shook my head, knowing that his words were the rambling of a man who was angry because he had lost. It wasn't my fault. I was just fortunate that he was too stupid to let go of something as precious as Zaan. After he left, I came out of hiding and walked up to Zaan, but I saw that she was unhappy."What is the problem?" I asked. She ignored me and turned to walk away, but I held her hand and pulled her back."Are you upset with me, Zaan?""Why wouldn't I be? I clearly to

CARTEREver since that night, I threatened Walker, I noticed that Zaan had been avoiding me. The following morning, I walked toward the cliff hoping to talk to her, but then I saw Walker. His eyes were gleaming, and his face held so much joy. I felt sick to my stomach. What was he doing here?If anyone was allowed to be there, it was me because I had been in this pack for years. The fact that he kept lingering around Zaan made me so upset. I knew what he wanted, but I was convinced that Zaan would never give him the time of day, not when she had such strong feelings for me. So, I wanted to ignore him. However, something surprised me. Zaan's scent was all over his body. It was so strong, as though she was the one standing in front of me.This could only mean one thing. ZANDERAfter my mom left, I kept hiding but continued staring at Rey as she conversed with the man whom I believed was her father. The way he treated her, though, and the fact that she did not react to his actions, showed she had a lot of respect for him. I kept clenching my fists in anger. When he finally turned and walked through the gates of the pack, I realized Rey was crying. I came out of hiding and walked toward her, and right at that moment, she turned. When she saw me, I could see the surprise and fear in her eyes. She stood for a while, staring at me in shock.I thought about what my mom had said. The best punishment at this point was to take her life. That was what she deserved, and that was what was expected of me.She remained rooted where she stood and couldn't take another step while tears kept falling from her eyes. But I walked toward her slowly until I was standing a few inches away from her. I stared at her for a while before grabbing her neck with my hand as though

REINAEver since that first night, I spent in Zander's room, something in me changed. I became a different person. Not that I had become a saint overnight, but I had become someone who genuinely loved Zander. Each moment I stared at him, I convinced myself that I would not be able to part from him, much less be the cause of his demise. He was patient, kind, loving, and everything wonderful I never thought I would find in a man. What were the chances that if I successfully destroyed this pack, I would be able to live with myself? No, if I destroyed the pack, how would I be with Zander? And if I destroyed Zander, how would I live?I had fallen head over heels in love with him. I was a hopeless case. There was a way he stared at me sometimes as though he had something to say. Other times, he looked at me with so much love and so much faith. Her confession made me feel on top of the world, although there was turmoil in my heart. It made me believe that this moment was surreal; somehow, it felt like a dream.Zaan had just met me, so her confession that she also loved me was a miracle. Yes, I had come after her with hopes that she would accept my proposal, but hearing her admit everything without holding back, I didn't know how to react. I wanted to be sure that this moment was real. I held her cheeks and said, "Look into my eyes, Zaan, and tell me that you aren't joking. This isn't a plan or a trick, right?
