Chapter 2 I told you so

She stood by the road side right in front of the mansion with her bag in her hands. Her dark brown hair was tied in a messy ponytail and dressed in white short sleeved top and a flare knee length skirt. With white slippers, she had no makeup on and she looked like an innocent eighteen years' girl who had been thrown out of her house.

Her eyes were dried, and she had no regrets about her decision. Five years had allowed her to recognize the fact and she had no more regrets.

She was thinking about returning to her true identity when the car window was lowered and a handsome face appeared in front of her.

She smiled slightly and walked towards a young man dressed in white suit. His hair wasn't combed and looked messy, his face looked masculine but the smile on his face looked boyish as he smiled in the way of Elsie.

He winked in her direction and asked,

"Is it time yet? Are you sure, you won't ever look back? As soon as you enter this car, you won't come back here even if you beg me to allow you. Elsie, are you sure about this?"

Elsie looked back at the building behind her and she nodded and the door opened. She sat down and turned to him and inquired,

"You have the documents ready right?"

He smiled as if he was a child that was waiting for the reward for a long time. She looked at him as if watching a comedian and stretched her hand. He hurriedly opened the suitcase he had brought along with him. Several stacks of dollars could be seen filling the bag and a piece of paper on it.

She took the paper and glanced at it with satisfaction but then, she looked back at him and asked,

"Why are you carrying so much money on you? It's dangerous to do that or hire a bodyguard." Sid smiled and touched her cheek with his palm and said to her,

"Thank you for worrying about me. This isn't for me, it's for you. You didn't ask for any remuneration for the divorce from them but I prepared this just in case they ask settlement for their false accusations."

Elsie was grateful for his thoughtfulness, Oswald's mother is a snob and she is likely to make unreasonable demands, but Oswald has deliberately sent his family away to talk to her about the divorce.

Does she have to thank him for not embarrassing her in front of his family?

'Elsie, wake up, Oswald is so cruel to you, you can't be easily sentimentalized by his small gesture.'

"Sid, thank you." Elsie retrieved her thoughts and looked at Sid seriously and said.

Sid sighed and hugged her into his arms, he was moved to sympathize with her for what happened to her, but he vowed that he would protect her all after that.

Sid remembered something, he let go of Elsie and said,"From what my assistant told me, Oswald went straight to the hospital after you left, so we go and get them to sign now?"

Elsie thought of Oswald being so impatient to go to the hospital to tell Tess about their divorce, and she still couldn't help but feel heartbroken at the thought, but she wouldn't let herself be so foolishly wronged again, and she nodded at Sid's suggestion."Let's do it."

She didn't want anything more to do with Oswald, and the sooner it was resolved the better.

——

They arrived at the hospital and she asked to go alone. Sid handed her the money but she didn't take it with her. Upon her arrival at the door to the room, she saw his fingers crossed with Tess's. He was busily cleaning her head with a towel with his order hand. Tess was happily smiling but she tried to act as if she was in pain. Seeing how he was caring for her, something she had never seen in him, Elsie was more determined. If memory serves right, Elsie had never seen Oswald taking care of anyone in his family.

Elsie felt an anger rise in her heart and she opened the door without knocking. Tess saw her first and smirked in her way but she hurriedly put on a surprised expression as soon as Oswald looked at her. He looked in the direction Tess was looking and saw Elsie standing inside but by the gate.

He raised his eyes. First puzzled, later turning angry, he thought how Elsie dared to come here to pester him."What are you doing here?"

Elsie didn't want to explain too much, she took out the divorce papers from her bag and flung them hard in front of his face."If you don't want to see me again in the future, sign this agreement as soon as possible. Then, I will disappear immediately."

"Divorce? No! I don't want you to do that!" Tess said excitedly before Oswald could speak, sounding genuinely surprised by the outcome.

"Just a divorce? What are you trying to play at again?" Oswald couldn't believe that she really didn't want anything from the divorce, just like she said, his determination to divorce was shaken when he saw that Elsie's name had been signed, and his anger rose even higher at the thought of it.

Oswald's hesitation gave Tess a chance, and she immediately cried and said to Elsie, " Elsie, I am so sorry that you might be thinking that I am breaking your marriage. but I swear that I really did not, although my family told me you caused the accident, I am fine now, aren't I? I think we all make mistakes and you were good for Oswald during the past five years, I'm sure you had a good five years of marriage, it was me... I know, I shouldn't have woken up and caused you to misunderstand, I should have died!"

The more Tess said, the more excited she became, and with that, she immediately pulled the syringe out of her hand and got up to crash into the hospital wall, but Oswald pulled her back just in time.

In the past Elsie might have believed her, but since Tess had made up this lie she wanted to spit in her face. Today she just wanted to be free from this bad marriage.

Oswald held Tess tightly in his arms and kissed the tears off her face as if Elsie didn't exist at all, she did live as a shadow in his life before, but she had seen the end of that paranoid unrequited love and she wouldn't lie to herself anymore.

She reminded them coldly,"I don't have the patience to watch your drama here, Mr Crofts, sign the papers and you can go on to do more."

Oswald heard her words and roughly yanked the divorce papers over and quickly signed his name.

He gave her a cold look and said,"I'm done signing, I hope you do what you promised and you won't show up in front of Tess again."

Elsie gave a cold laugh and replied,"Me too. May you be happy forever."

Elsie finished and was ready to leave the place, but she saw Tess's evil smirk and Elsie raised her middle finger and cursed her, 'bitch.'
