NOLAN

“Chloe, I think we should get a divorce,”

The words were out there now and I couldn't take it back, there was no going back from here on out, I stared at Chloe as she gazed at me with perplexion, I watched her gaze go from rage to fury.

She clenched her fist, it was as if she was trying to hold back the outburst of tears from flowing down her eyes.

“What do you mean, we should get a divorce Nolan?” she asked but I didn't feel like there was any use in repeating those words. She knew what I meant.

We stood there gazing at each other in silence, till Chloe decided to break the silence, “It is because of her right?” she wasn't asking.

“Chloe, let us not do this,”

“It is because of that bitch, Alanna, I knew this was why she came back, to take you away from me, ever since she came back it had been nothing but trouble,”

“That is not fair, Chloe, you and I know that our marriage has not been working out way back before Alanna was in the picture, it isn't fair to say it is because

Her words echo in my head.Is Alanna worth the fight? Is Alanna worth losing half of everything I had worked out my ass to get? It wasn't fair that Chloe wanted to do this to me. Why didn't I just get the damn prenup? My mother wanted me to, and my lawyer advised me to but I kicked against it because I felt like it was an insult to my spouse. My father had a prenup when my mum and him got married. That was why she stayed, “I stayed because of that damn prenup” my mum had told me, she knew after slaving and enduring the worst kind of abuse in the hand of this man, walking out of this marriage would mean her walking away with nothing. It would mean, I had no place in the inheritance, so she stayed, she stayed for the money. I didn't want that for Chloe, I wanted her to not feel tied down to a marriage because of a prenup, and to have the freedo

ALANNASitting before the Vogue lady has to be everything I ever wanted happening in a day, it has to be the most alive I have ever been in a long time.It felt like sitting before an angel, only that I was the one with the wings floating in the clouds. She poured me a cup of coffee and sat beside me in one of the twirling visitor's chairs and gave me the most cheerful smile I have gotten in a long while.“Please pay no heed to Lucas's attitude, he can be a pain in the ass sometimes, in fact, most times,” she apologized, and I chuckled at her sense of humor. “It is nothing, I am sure he is just being protective, that is all,” I responded trying to sound polite even though I also thought he was a jerk and a literal pain in the ass too. “Protective huh?” she gazes at me, “Or possessive, I feel like being in an industry dominated by men, they tend to look down on women a lot and we have to work twice as hard to prove ourselves even though we shouldn't,” she spoke in an all familiar ton

BRADEscaping home from that shit hole I call a workplace was the only thing that kept me sane and going. Just an evening to unwind, think about how to use this huge mistake Nolan just made by canceling the launch to my favor, and how to win Alanna, on our date tomorrow. This last time, I wasn’t able to have sex with her, but I best believe that I would tomorrow and nothing is going to come in my way.Or so I thought.I was still enjoying the comfort of my space when I heard a knock on my door. It was odd because, at this time of the day, I rarely get uninvited guests, I took out my phone and pulled up my mobile CCTV and saw it was Chloe. I sighed, “What the hell does she want here?” I sluggishly made my way to the door and buzzed her in. She appeared to be agitated and freaking out, which wasn't strange when it comes to Chloe, but she doesn't just show up in my house unannounced, it was part of our rules. “I thought we agreed on no surprise visit,” I mumbled, as I paced after

CHAPTER 48ALANNA(FIVE YEARS AGO)I stared at the man I had just gotten married to, it was not any form of a romantic ceremony, there were just two witnesses, his parents and his assistant who stood in place of my family since my family had not attended our wedding claiming I betrayed Chloe. The memory of that night was still hazy to me, I didn't remember a single thing, except being given a drink by Chloe.“You drugged me,” I had accused her, but Mum yanked me from the floor while I was weeping, and shoved me to the couch. “Are you crazy?” she yelled, “How can you say that about your sister,” “She forced me to drink a glass of wine and after that, I couldn't remember anything,” I tried to defend myself. “Did I also force you to sleep with my boyfriend, why would I drug you and make you sleep with my boyfriend, the man I want to get married to,” Chloe cried out, tossing her shoes towards me, I dodged them by a millisecond. Now here I was in a room alone, with a man, I had nev

  • After Divorce, The Heiress Decides to Revenge   DATE (Part 1)

BRADToday is the day, my eyes flung open as I jolted from my bed, Chloe was still sleeping beside me, this was the first night she was sleeping over. Of course, Nolan wouldn't care, if, for anything, he would want to get rid of her soon and what better way to get rid of an unwanted spouse than to catch them in the act of infidelity? Her eyes flickered open, as soon as I got out of the bed, she was naked underneath the sheets and I didn't want to get aroused by the sight of that. “Where are you going, it is the weekend, and I am sure Nolan isn't looking for me,” she picked up her phone from the nightstand and scrolled through it for a moment, “As expected, there is no call here from him,”“I need to get prepared for my date,” Her eyes widened, I could see the rage in her eyes, “What do you mean date?” she asked, not waiting for my response she continued, “I thought we agreed you weren't going to see anyone as long as we were still fucking,”Yes, that was our terms or fucking,

ALANNAI didn't want to go on the date, I know I said I wanted to move on from Nolan, but right now I had a thousand thoughts running through my mind.“Mummy, who is that man who came to the house?” the ever-inquisitive Lucy had asked, right when I was tucking them to sleep, the night before.I sighed, not sure what I was supposed to tell them, was I going to lie to my kids, I wasn't also ready to tell them the truth because that was something I couldn't explain to them.“He is just someone I work with,” I lied, praying to whatever deity I believe in that they do not press on with the question. “Lucy said you were crying after he left, did he hurt you mummy? I want to go beat him,” Lucas in his sensitive and overly protective childlike voice mutters with concern etched all over his face.“No, he did not, Lucy, what did I tell you about spying on mummy?”“Lucas also spied on you,” Lucy blurted out, I smiled. “Don't worry darling mummy can take care of herself,”Now here I was seated

NOLAN"Closure doesn't come from forgetting the past but from facing it head-on."The wind blew softly as we stood at Chloe's grave, the air filled with the scent of freshly turned earth and the distant hum of the city. It had taken us a long time to get here, to stand at this place with a sense of peace instead of anger or regret. I looked down at the headstone, its cold surface a stark reminder of all that had happened, all that we had lost and gained. In my arms, little Chloe stirred, her tiny hands grasping at the air. She was so innocent, unaware of the twisted history that brought her into this world. But that was how it would stay. Alanna and I had promised each other that this child, this beautiful little girl, would never know the darkness that shadowed her birth. The happiness of moments before—Nolan’s proposal, the promises of a future together—seemed to shatter like glass around us. All I could see was Lucas, his face twisted with rage and pain, his eyes filled with a darkness that sent chills down my spine. It was as if everything we’d gone through, every battle we’d fought, was leading up to this moment. But instead of feeling strong, I felt vulnerable, exposed. Lucas was no longer the boy I once knew. He was a man consumed by hatred, and that hatred was directed at me.“You came into my life and took everything,” Lucas snarled, his voice trembling with barely suppressed anger. “You took my family, you took the only love I had ever known, and now you’ve ruined everything!”I tried to find the right words, something that could reach him, something that could make him see reason. But nothing came. All I could do was stand there, f

This place, with its cozy ambiance and inviting atmosphere, was perfect for the first dinner we’d have together as a family—one that finally felt whole. Chloe's father sat across from me, his eyes tired and red, as if he had been wrestling with his conscience for a long time.
