The letter had me on s chokehold. And I stared at it until tears dropped from my eyes, onto the phone.

I knew what I had to do. I couldn't just sit here and let this moment pass. Without hesitation, I sprang into action, changing out of my streaming clothes and into something more suitable for a late-night visit.

A simple dress, a light jacket. I didn't want to look like I was trying too hard, but I wanted to be presentable. I had to get to the packhouse, no matter what it took from me.

No matter how he or the rest of the world reacted.

Grabbing my phone and keys, I rushed out of my apartment and hailed a cab.

The city lights blurred as we sped towards the pack house. My mind raced with thoughts of what I would say, how he would react, if this was even a good idea.

“Thank you sir!” I said to the driver as we arrived and stepped out, the pack house loomed in front of me.

I approached the guards, my heart in my throat. No one was there except me.
