45: The friend we know

I arrived at the bar about five minutes ago but there was no sign of Lorraine yet so I took a seat by a corner to wait for her. It was Queen of Dawn's time to shine and I'd do anything in my power to widen my reach.

Minutes later, she walked in and settled by my side, lips thin from grinning too wide. “Hey, baby!” Lorraine leaned in and hugged me. “Come on, let's go…”

“Where?” I glanced around. “What about the person you're expecting? Where will we meet him?”

It was hellishly loud in here, like the devil's birthday party and I honestly didn't get why people came to bars. Probably to drown their sorrows but it made me feel the exact opposite way. Those feelings were aggravated and I just wanted to punch the walls.

Not to mention, my last visit to a place with much alcohol was what led to my ending up in Alexander's room, on his bed. My stomach turned from just remembering it.
